    Hi, Darragh. I'm a bar man for over 30 years, so I might have a clue about a few things. The stout, obviously a problem with the dirty glass, that's obvious, but the bubbles in the head has probably come from the fact that it's in a lager glass which is nucleated on the bottom to cause a serge of carbonation. And the beer that you drank was highly carbonated because of the nucleated glyhisif you put that stout into a CLEAN Guinness glass, it would be a lot tastier. Hope this helps.

    • @matmul4850
      @matmul4850 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. You would think they would have done their research and known that you need separate stout glasses.

    4:01 usually in England we wash food items in a dishwasher in the kitchen. Usually you’ll find a glass washer solely for glasses however I do know some pubs washing coffee mugs and glasses which isn’t great. However the bigger problem might be I’m guessing they are using same glasses for lager and stout. I never let anything else be poured into my Guinness glasses. The other thing is the glass might not have been cooled properly or a problem with the glass washer. You can see when the lad is pouring it the glass isn’t perfectly clean from the lines on the side of the glass!

    I was there last Thursday night, had a really good evening, the staff are polite, friendly, chatty and helpful. I tried all the beers including the stout. My favourite was the Hawkstone Harvest premium lager. Pub has a family feel to it and is dog friendly. Sausage rolls very tasty, also had the steak pie which was great (£19). All pints are around £6.50. It was a one off opportunity to go as I was over in that neck of the woods. I’m sure they will continue to improve, based on another video I watched with the brewer, he is very passionate and knowledgable. As per other comment, wrong type of glass. In other pubs I’ve been to they use separate glass washer and chill the Guinness glasses in a fridge. Pleased to see a British brewer selling decent pints, wish them every success.

      Yeah I don't get the hype over Guinness. It's quite a bland nitro beer, made for mass consumption. I call it the Fosters of the stout world. Their marketing has been very successful ever since the early days and it's that that has really been what's great rather than the beer. Far nicer stouts around in local breweries, but they can never get a hold in any pubs because Guinness has the market. I've nothing against Guinness and drink it sometimes myself, but I want better choice in our pubs.

      Guinness is overrated and hyped by years of very successful marketing. It's the Fosters of the stout world.

      Agreed, Guinness drinkers are sucked in by the marketing and think all that nonsense is important

    Probably not trying to compete with Guinness, classic stout is different to the big G which is more of a mild

    I wouldn't touch anything with Jeremy Clarkson's name on it.
    The man is a toff and a con man desperately trying to brand himself as a man of the people.
    You can get the best pint in England in the Devonshire for 6.90. 6.50 for that is a rip off!
    Really appreciate your honesty Daragh!

      more often than not, it's from the type of detergent they use in the industrial dishwashers- I doubt it's actually dirty.

      @ I’ve worked bars 30 years they need to brush wash in sink first then put in machine, a good barman knows how to prepare his glass for service and they new you’d be filming it 🙈

    Clarkson's character hasn't surfaced since 'Farm', he has remained the same personality through the many years of Top Gear, his Sunday Times column, his other TV specials (on WWIi etc), the Grand Tour (added nothing). People admire him because he is humorous, counter-woke, self-effacing, a proper bloke & an unabashed patriot. 'Farm' has allowed a lot more people to appreciate him & we back his ventures.
