I bought this song in 1966 on a 45rmp record by Percy Sledge....wore that sucker out on a record player I had got with S&H green stamps.....Percy was great when younger....Home Free kills this song!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 .. yessss !! No instruments, no bass guitar .. just 5 men singing & beatboxing .. and these guys are top notch. Home Free has lots and lots of great songs. Here are a few recommendations ... 1 - "Blue Ain't Your Color" .. originally by Keith Urban 2 - "Go Rest High Upon That Mountain" .. originally by Vince Gill
Just subscribed with hopes for more Home Free! They are the best! I don't even think of them as an acapella group anymore but just my favorite band. Thanks for the Home Free reaction.
WOW! I've always ignored this video simply thinking the original is SOOO darn good I saw no reason to!! That was a stellar cover. MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW is the usual first time but no biggs!! Great Reaction!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Percy Sledge is a local boy, he grew up here and recorded this song about 6 or 7 miles from where I am right now. I love his version but these guys did him proud! Home Free is one of my favorite groups, I have seen them live and they are even better in person! Thanks for reacting to them!
Great reaction, Rere! IMO, Home Free is the best acapella group on youtube. I've seen them live twice, most recently last week, and they sound amazing live. When they perform a song, it's easy to forget that there are no musical instruments. Everything you hear is produced by the human voice, even the percussion sounds.
Welcome to the fabulous world of Home Free. These 5 men are known for their tight harmonies, having one of the best bass singers & an unmatched vocal percussionist who can simulate any sound. They lean towards country but can do any genre of music. They can all take the lead depending on who's voice is best suited for the song. Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. These guys are my favorite a cappella group. Most new reactors start with "Man Of Constant Sorrow".
Great reaction, welcome to the Home Free rabbit 🐇 home it’s a very deep and wonderful rabbit hole. Hope to hear you react to more home free. I’m sure many will give you suggestions what to check out next. Doesn’t matter to me they’re all great. 😊
What a song to choose for your introduction to HF. No one belts quite like Austin. And the harmonies behind him, the 'rhythm section', just fantastic. Percy Sledge sang this i the 60s - I still have a 45 of it someplace. Enjoy the fall down the HF rabbit hole - they have around 200 official videos for you to sample.
Intro to Home Free: Group was formed in 2000, and beatboxer Adam Rupp is the last original member. Tenor Rob Lundquist introduced himself to the group in 2008, and an invitation to join followed quickly. Bass Tim Foust joined in 2012, and tenor Austin Brown (lead) followed in 2013. Baritone Adam "Chance" replaced group co-founder Chris Rupp in 2016. Brown left the group in the summer of 2024, a couple of years after this video was released. He has been replaced by Adam "Bastien."
Home Free is a phenomenal a cappella group. Their vocal ability is undeniable plus they are creative, funny and just a good group of human beings. You can't go wrong with anything they create but I'd suggest "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Take Me Home Country Roads", "End of the Road", "Can't Stop the Feeling" and for a laugh their Butts Remix. Home Free and Pentatonix are good friends. They won their respective seasons of NBC's "The Sing Off" competition.
...not to forget - the cooperation with "AVI" (bass member of Pentatonix) in Home Free's "Ring Of Fire". My favorites: "Helplessly Hoping" and "Mayday"
#homefree are master musicians and great guys. Their collaboration witih Don McLean on American Pie will give you a chance to hear each of them solo, along with their superb harmonies.
Yes, welcome to Home Free, all acapella, no instruments at all. Masters of all musical genres. I'm a new subscriber here for the Home Free reactions. They won the 4th season of the Sing Off in 2013. Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces. Within this 5 man vocal band you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers, and 2 bass-baritones. All of them can sing lead and they choose depending on whose voice best fits the song. Typically Rob sings tenor, Austin sings high tenor, Chance sings baritone, Tim sings bass and Adam Rupp is the beat boxer. But they have been known to mix it up. They can do just about anything and they continue to grow and improve, yet they remain so humble. When they have featured guest artist, they support and allow their featured artists to shine. Several of them have their own channels and do some solo work. And just for fun Rob and Austin sing Opera. What else can I say? Their catalogue of work is quite large and continues to grow. You are in for an exciting journey and the Home Fries will be there for you all the way.
I've never head of Home Free, but Percy... the original by Percy Sledge (1966) is one of the all time great love songs of the 20th century 😁 From Wiki: "Released by Atlantic Records in April 1966, Sledge's recording reached number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B singles charts, becoming the first number 1 hit recorded in Muscle Shoals. It is also one of seven number 1 hits to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 100. The single was also a top ten hit in the UK reaching number four on its initial release and ultimately peaking at number two in 1987 on the UK Singles Chart after it was featured in a Levi's Jeans commercial. The Percy Sledge version is listed *53rd in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time* . Also in 1987, it was reissued in the US to promote the soundtrack album for Oliver Stone's film Platoon. In 1999, the 1966 recording by Percy Sledge was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame." Here you go, the original. It only has 22 million views, let's give it a boost 👍 th-cam.com/video/6meW-K-1e7Q/w-d-xo.html
Austin killed this. The other guys did too! I am sure Percy Sledge would be so very proud! This was done during the pandemic. They were all in different places. Love your reaction!
Home Free had made this video during COVID, so that's why they're mostly via video here, otherwise, they are even better actually together with each of their multi-genre a capella covers! React to more!
Love a first time reaction. 😊 You should absolutly listen to A man of constant sorrow now. New subscriber here. The fans of Home Free are called Home-fryes and we are a loyal...... Cant wait.
Love Home Free. They are such talented men. Austin (lead here) and Adam (beatboxer) killed it. This was during the pandemic so I thought the use of TV’s was clever. They have amazing music and varied. They sing different genres. Good one!!!
Stay on the Home Free path and your journey will be profoundly fulfilling. And your subscriber base will increase exponentially as well. No one is like Home Free. They are the best!!!
Upvotes for all the songs called out in previous comments, and add Austin singing solo from Les Miserables, Bring Him Home. Have tissues, you will cry! Also their cover of the Dire Straights song Brothers in Arms. That one always hits me in the heart. So beautiful! Then there is Delta Dawn, and for laughs All About That Bass. If you haven't seen the original video by Meghan Trainor you must watch that first because the guys do a scene for scene spoof. Meghan loved it! The Butts Medley is also hilarious! And don't forget their most popular Sea Shanty Medley! Last time I looked it had over 40M views!
Autin's fiancé was sitting with him in the studio and that's who he was singing to. She had no idea he going to sing this song to her, and she was his inspiration. Lucky girl.
Home Free is my favorite A Capella group! Stay with them and be entertained immensely! Some very cool songs by them are... Helplessly Hoping Listen to the Music Man of Constant Sorrow Folsom Prison Blues
Austin, singing directly to his wife, off stage... Avi from Pentatonix has performed with Home Free, Find "Ring of Fire" by Home Free. Also listen to "Mayday", "Man of Constant Sorrow" and Helplessly Hoping"
Great reaction! I'm really enjoying your reactions, Rere. Home Free has a ton of great songs / performances. One of my favorites of theirs is Amazing Grace but you can't go wrong. They are fantastic!
Here is a mash-up of two songs that they put together from (Dierks Bentley) and (Keith Urban) called "Woman Amen / Female" They are masters of medleys. Don't let yourself down Ree, It's a great song. #subed #homefree
All these men choirs presenting old classics have been outstanding. I don't think this was though the best example of this kinda of approach, but this lead singer has extremely good voice. Jeez...
There's another a cappella group that has worked in several way with the members of Home Free. VoicePlay is known as the theater kids of the genre and they videos are a joy to watch. Another group I just have to recommend is The Bass Gang. Four bass singer with amazing ranges and great voices. They live in four different parts of the world (inc. 2 different US states) and record most of their videos remotely. Check out Arabian Nights and Gaston, which are parts 1 & 4 of a storyline which brought the two Americans to the Czech Republic to join up with a third member.
And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so doomed. We’ll save you a chair. You’re about to be buried in Home Fries. Brace yourself. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks while they were scattered across the country. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam Rupp is in a league of his own. He’s a world-class vocal percussionist and there’re good reasons he’s called a “Freak of Nature” and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam’s incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete’s sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain’t Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (sleigh bells? seriously?) or his drum solos. For more of Tim’s seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). This man’s range is incredible. You won’t want to miss his 5-octave run in 5 seconds in “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Tim also has a solo channel which you can view at www.timfoustmusic.com For Chance’s smooth baritone/bass, check out Skull & Bones, Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome... a basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. If you enjoy sea shanties, you must check out Skull and Bones, the official video.. The folks at Ubisoft heard Home Free’s Sea Shanty Medley, and contacted them to write a shanty for their upcoming video game of the same name. Chance has a particular fondness for shanties, so this was right up his alley. Chance was formerly a member of Street Corner Symphony from 2010 - 2016 before joining Home Free in 2016 after the departure of co-founder Chris Rupp. You can find his solo work and collaborations at www.theadamchance.com For Rob’s soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) One Home Fry has described him as the vocal equivalent of a Swiss Army knife because of his versatility. Just wait until you hear him whistle! Rob and his friend Buegs host a podcast called “The Avid Indoorsmen” where they review movies, etc. You’ll find Buegs’ cameo in the Home Free video “The Butts Remix.” He’s wearing overalls. Don’t worry - you can’t miss him. You can check out their podcast at www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-avid-indoorsmen--3265024 For Austin’s soaring tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he’ll sing you right out of it.) Austin left HF in June 2024. He’s newly married, and hasn’t been at home for Christmas in ten years due to Home Free’s heavy touring schedule. There are hundreds of videos with him, though, so you’ll still run into his work. You can also check out his solo work at www.austinbrownmusic.com Adam Bell-Bastien stepped into Austin’s tenor spot in June 2024. He’s currently on tour with HF, and we finally got to hear him singing the lead in Something To Talk About. Home Free introduced him right. He debuted at the Grand Ole Opry with the Home Free men on June 22, 2024. He’s a fine addition to the band. So, yeah. Three of the five members of Home Free are named Adam. You’ll hear them referred to as “Chance,” “Bastien,” and “Rupp.” If they’re just using the name Adam, they’re talking about Adam Rupp, vocal percussionist extraordinaire. For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Life Is A Highway, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (The older video. Tim wrote the worst country song he could think of, and it remains one of their most requested.) A word about “Brother” - if you want to hear the lyrics, you’re going to have to listen with your eyes closed, ‘cause otherwise you’ll never get past the humor of the video to actually hear what they’re singing. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam’s arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let’s Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie and Vincent with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden, or Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you’ll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim’s mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You’ll need smelling salts after that one. Don’t miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they’ll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother, Life Is A Highway). And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll cover a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’d been hit by the curse four times before I gave up and quit counting. I’m not the only victim of the Home Free Curse, either. Although their covers are amazing, don’t miss their original compositions. They range from the the poignant (So Long Dixie) to the patriotic (Land Of the Free). These include Dive Bar Saints (one of my favorites), Road Sweet Road, Catch Me If You Can, Lonely Girl’s World, The Stargazer Trilogy (Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies, MR), Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget, Love Me Like That, Skull And Bones, and many, many more. Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.
Austin Brown, the guy singing lead in this song; does a duet with Rob Lindquist, singing Nessun Dorma. While Rob has had classical training, Austin is a novice. This is special.
Actually Austin had classical training from about age 15 right through college. He was on full scholarship for voice in the music theatre school, in a college where the opera kids and music theatre kids shared many lessons and prepared the same pieces for audition. He also passed auditions for some of the biggest name schools in the country. His tutors wanted him to switch to opera. So hardly a novice
Part II 😁 Sooooo Percy Sledge!!!! The best detail and many MANY other details is to watch the documentary MUSCLE SHOALS 🤟🏼🎸🎸🎸🎸🤟🏼💕💖 It's a music journey of early Rock and Roll, Blues and the birth of Southern Rock and many famous bands that recorded at the music studio the title is named after! Maybe watch it on your channel with your brother and members!! 🌹☮️ Oops forgot to say this documentary is on TH-cam!
I always love the late Percy Sledge's original (not so much Michael Bolton's cover). This was filmed during the Covid lockdowns (hence the TV screens). The writer of the song had been through a bad break-up and wrote "I gave you everything I had". Austin's (now wife) Amberly was in the studio and he sings "I'll give you everything I've got".
Yes, the original was by the late great Percy Sledge. Aside from what you just listened to, the best cover of this song is by Michael Bolton. But most reactors who try to do Bolton get their vids taken down.
Austin has left the group to break from touring and be with his family, but you can follow Home Free with the new member Bastien, and of course Austin Brown music at his personal channel, he has great music!
Here's Percy Sledge singing it live. Introduced by the one and only Otis Redding. Otis is probably the greatest R&B and soul singer of all time: th-cam.com/video/EYb84BDMbi0/w-d-xo.html
I bought this song in 1966 on a 45rmp record by Percy Sledge....wore that sucker out on a record player I had got with S&H green stamps.....Percy was great when younger....Home Free kills this song!!!
This is absolutely one of best performances for any lady to react to, and the group is top-notch a capella.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 .. yessss !! No instruments, no bass guitar .. just 5 men singing & beatboxing ..

Home Free has lots and lots of great songs.
Here are a few recommendations ...

Just subscribed with hopes for more Home Free! They are the best! I don't even think of them as an acapella group anymore but just my favorite band. Thanks for the Home Free reaction.

What a song to choose for your introduction to HF. No one belts quite like Austin. And the harmonies behind him, the 'rhythm section', just fantastic.

Home Free Man of Constant Sorrow is a must see. Great a Reaction
Welcome the newest fry to the HomeFry family. These guys are great. It's as much fun watching people react as it is listening to them. Have fun!!!
Percy Sledge's 1966 original was soul music!
Welcome down the Homefree rabbit hole❤🎉
Yes, welcome to Home Free, all acapella, no instruments at all. Masters of all musical genres. I'm a new subscriber here for the Home Free reactions. They won the 4th season of the Sing Off in 2013. Some might say "wonderfully" deep.

Love Home Free. They are such talented men. Austin (lead here) and Adam (beatboxer) killed it. This was during the pandemic so I thought the use of TV’s was clever. They have amazing music and varied. They sing different genres. Good one!!!

Welcome to the rabbit hole. I would suggest adding Voiceplay, they are another acapella group. You won't be disappointed with either group.
The human drummer excellent here also.
You could refer to them as vocalists. They are an all-vocal country band
❤🤠#HomeFree. Beautiful 😍 Austin did amazing. Great reaction.🏠🍟
They are all lead singers. Keep watching.
They are an a capella group.
when Percy's song was the last 45 at the dance both my date (now my wife) and I missed curfew by a lot. end of a country road no one around.
And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so doomed. We’ll save you a chair.

(Awesome... a basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. You can find his solo work and collaborations at www.theadamchance.com
For Rob’s soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. You can check out their podcast at www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-avid-indoorsmen--3265024
For Austin’s soaring tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. You can also check out his solo work at www.austinbrownmusic.com
Adam Bell-Bastien stepped into Austin’s tenor spot in June 2024.
Nothing else like it.)
For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne.
(Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces.”
You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.
what she said.
Wow....take a breath.....😮
God watching your authentic discovery of music is fucking priceless 😢
Great Reaction 👍🙏💯😎
Austin Brown, the guy singing lead in this song; does a duet with Rob Lindquist, singing Nessun Dorma. While Rob has had classical training, Austin is a novice. This is special.
Actually Austin had classical training from about age 15 right through college. He was on full scholarship for voice in the music theatre school, in a college where the opera kids and music theatre kids shared many lessons and prepared the same pieces for audition. He also passed auditions for some of the biggest name schools in the country. His tutors wanted him to switch to opera. So hardly a novice
This that heat.
The great Johnny Gill would like this kinda heat.
My my my.
Voiceplay is another group to check out.
Checkout the A Capella group " Voctive. U can start with the " Disney Princess Medley"

Yes, the original was by the late great Percy Sledge.
Aside from what you just listened to, the best cover of this song is by Michael Bolton. But most reactors who try to do Bolton get their vids taken down.
Such a huge catalog. Brothers In Arms is a great one for next. But anything by them is great.
A very good cover of the great Percy Sledge song, it would be great if you could do a reaction to that.
More *Home Free* Please!
Amazing! Wow !
Percy..gotta listen @
Home Free is incredible. If you like Acapella then there's an older band called The Nylons. You might enjoy them.
Austin has left the group to break from touring and be with his family, but you can follow Home Free with the new member Bastien, and of course Austin Brown music at his personal channel, he has great music!
Great reaction! If you continue down the Home Free rabbit hole, I'll be here. New subscriber!
I highly recommend the original Percy Sledge version from the mid 60's. Even if you don't react, it's worth it.
I suggest Helplessly Hoping and the Stargazer Trilogy. Basically anything they’ve done.🙂
Deep rabbit hole... You'll never get enough, though.
Listen to "Man of Constant Sorrow" by Home Free. It's just great.
If you enjoyed the bass, try their cover (upgrade?) of " In the Blood ".
Next do their cover of Man of Constant Sorrow will not disappoint later beautiful.❤️😎🇺🇸
Try Home Free's cover of "Ring of Fire;" it features Avi Kaplan, formerly of Pentatonix.
Here's Percy Sledge singing it live. Introduced by the one and only Otis Redding. Otis is probably the greatest R&B and soul singer of all time:

You're an rnb fan. They've got a version of end of the road by boys to men that you have to hear
You should definitely check out the original
in my opinion there best song is still ring of fire
They'd be better if they didn't use auto tune. Michael Bolton didn't need it.
0:29 hear the real one by Percy Sledge when a Man loves a woman 0:29 0:29

Subbed for more #HomeFree! I will allow others to recommend songs - as they have done below

Naughty bee. 🤩
when they released this, im betting on,quite a few kids were born about 9 months later ...😉
This is a great cover. Listen to Percy Sledge's version and decide for yourself. I feel that the original has more soul.
💙🔥💙
He was flirting with that camera
Sea Shanty
Good voice, no soul. This is a tortured ballad and he has a huge grin on his face. Empty calories. Try Percy Sledge for an adult dose of soul.
Highly suggest you here there covers of Aviccis Wake Me Up. Boyz to men End of the Road. Cams Mayday.
