Rob was an opera major in college. Austin was into musical theater- very bright and up front. Rob has that chiaroscuro! Rob could have a real opera career if he wanted to.
In an interview with the channel "Patrol Gaming" Austin (long hair) said he'd really wanted to show off "opera" Rob; however, Rob said he wouldn't unless Austin sang it with him. They're both classically trained - Rob's was mainly in opera, Austin's degree is in Music Theater. Austin went on to say he thought he'd been okay but that Rob was fantastic. One of the (many) things I love about Home Free is how they support each other.
Great reaction! As mentioned by someone else, I consider Rob a vocal chameleon. There's opera Rob, country Rob, gospel Rob, rap Rob, r&b Rob, classic rock Rob, contemporary Rob, etc. He is a master of changing his timbre and placement to suit different genres.
So proud of them for doing this. They were afraid the fans wouldn't like it. Ha! Wait till you hear R&B Rob in End of the Road. Or Rap Rob in their Butts Medley. And there's Austin's Bring Him Home and Tears in Heaven. Incredibly talented guys.
As others have mentioned, Rob does have classical training, but that was more than ten years ago. He doesn't, presumably, practice his classical technique every day as a working opera singer would do. To me that's impressive that he could pull that back up from his memory and do as well as he did.
The legendary status of our Home Free vocalists just keeps mounting to greater accolades that is very deserving of our attention. They are simply amazing and yet they are very humble. It is a privilege to enjoy their vocal gifts!!!! Nice Reaction......... Thank you Aaliyah! ❣
Positive suggestion- Please continue with your open mind and positive, upbuilding energy. Too often, many are 'smothered' by cynicism, yet your openness to all genre music types, regardless of your personal music interests, is contagious, I feel, to the success of your TH-cam platform.
This is so very awesome. The first time I heard this I almost fell off my chair. Rob has Opera training and Austin has classical theater training. The voices are so very beautiful! Love your reaction! #HOMEFREE
Rob (City Boy !) has the incredible sweet tenor vocal talent like no other .... his counterpart herein Bandmate -Austin, Real Country Boy - (Tifton, Georgia) is a HIGH TENOR extraordinaire make this Aria a duet of considerable excellence in their First and only attempt at Classical Opera. The "learned" of the craft may insist their enunciation is not conventional - THOUGH THEIR TALENT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH to sell this little ditty. Fan for several years, Home Free and these two as well. jj
Great reaction! I have never been a big fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy. Rob had some opera training about 15 years ago & Austin has been trained in musical theatre.
If you liked that, react to #HomeFree " Country Fried Pop Medley," where they mash up a bunch of modern pop songs. Thanks, Aaliyay. Don't be such a stranger, you only have 250 more songs to go. 😂
Hi Aaliyah. This might be my new favorite reaction ha ha. I havnt seen this until watching it with you. Them singing opera, you a opera singer. How fun is that. It's fun to watch you react to them doing opera. I've never seen them do that til now. I like this group. They toured through my town but I missed it. Darn it. Next time. Fun reaction. Thanks for sharing.
Hello 👋 From the Sunshine☀ of Florida !!!! As one who loves opera From Emmy Rossoum singing ( Think of Me ) To Gerard Butlers ( Music of the Night ) However My Favorite Vocalist was the Soprano Mrs Patricia Janeckova Who was lost to the world on October 1 2023 to aggressive Breast Cancer to me she was the ( Goddess of Song ) Here are a couple of My favorite Works She performed found on her You Tube Channel !!! As always the like button 🔳 has been Illuminated 😊 1) Rusalka - Song to the moon 2) " Voi Che Sapate " ( W. A. Mozart - Le No ......) 3) The Doll So g - " Les Oiseaux dans LA Charmille " ( Jacques Offenbach- Les contes d' Hoffman ) R. T. 7.57
Your enthusiasm for music is very engaging. It's surprising that TH-cam can transmit quality sound through their platform. I think they should do more opera in the future.
You should checkout Tim Foust’s, Bass singer from Home Free, solo work. It’s awesome. Highly recommend reacting to his solo single “Will You Love me Tomorrow/Stay”. About 40 seconds into the song jaw will drop from amazement and shock. Perfect song for a reaction.
That was great. I was waiting for that duet. Very impressive. If you do a cross-over with your friends, I'm sure it would me be great. Great video and as always, great reaction😊
Good review! You are right - Rob had opeatic training Austin had Music Theatre training To hear him in that genre, check out his version of Bring Him Home from le Mis - th-cam.com/video/NGP1nEG-OTQ/w-d-xo.html
Rob was classically trained in college but that was years ago. Austin was a musical theater kid in college. Austin always wanted Rob to sing opera but Rob said he wouldn’t do it without Austin. Austin is the high tenor and Rob the tenor in the group. Good one!
Austin certainly hits all the notes thru this (& with some flair as you'd expect from an agile contemporary vocalist).... but Rob delivers a beautifully rich chiaroscuro #BelCantoFTW! - I'd certainly buy an album of him singing popular arias. :) p.s. For maximum contrast, I think you'd enjoy a bit of #GospelRob in Home Free's cover of "End of the Road" ;)
Rob does have classical background and Austin has musical theater training. If you have enjoyed this I feel you will really be amazed with Austin. He has a solo doing Bring Him Home from Las MIs. This will help you understand how Home Free is so good and can sing anythin
I loved your reaction to this Aaliyah! I am a fan of your reactions and of Home Free. I have seen this video and heard this before, but when I saw you were reacting to it, well it was a must-see for me! I would love to see you do a reaction to a classic rock band / song that features one of the elite vocalists. His name is Brad Delp. The band is Boston and the song/video I 'd suggest is More than a Feeling. If you choose the right version, you will get to see them perform. I would love to see you react to that and hear your thoughts!

I really enjoyed your reaction. I wish you great future success with your music, you have a lovely voice. You should check out Tommy Johansson covering Winner Takes It All. He is a Swedish singer/composer and multi-instrumentalist. He has done dozens of covers, and also has his own band, Majestica.
I just came to listen to Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, again. How they said about that 1st album: "we sometimes thought: how can we both work THAT out? And then, T Bone told us about his thoughts. And it did work out!" Absolutely fascinating! And they even did a 2nd album: "raise the roof". Robert never had to sing in harmony with another person. It was quite a challenge for him. Since you're here to learn: I love to share with you! Have you heard about the band Slade? I was a huge fan! The parents of their singer Noddy Holder had a bakery. And a car to deliver goods. Noddy used to drive "little Robert" (just jokin') to the rehersals in that car. Few people know, I think. Not a patreon, you might wanna listen to the band Babe Ruth from thhe Netherlands. Their album 1st base was quite popular. My guess would be the song The Mexican. The singing style of "Jenny" Janita Haan is quite outstanding. Cheers from the far north of Germany!
