    *_IMPORTANT NOTE : Please read before commenting_*
    Part 2 can be found here :
    th-cam.com/video/vCGt1mKrs24/w-d-xo.html
    Below I have addressed some commonly raises points in from the comments
    Point : What did you mean about The War Doctor?
    Response : To clarify my point at 0:49, I AM including the War Doctor as a canon Doctor as part of the line up between 1 - 13.
    The way I phrased it perhaps makes it sound like I'm saying The War Doctor in an Unbound Doctor, which is not the case, I fully accept the War Doctor as canon!
    Point : Are these Doctor's now canon/Pre-Hartnell Doctors?
    Response : That is something which is open to interpretation however personally I think not, there is nothing in the narrative to suggest they should now be counted as canon and maybe of Big Finish's Unbound stories feature very "final" elements to their narrative of that particular incarnations lives, as such I would still consider them Unbound/alternate.

    Interesting to note that whilst a sex-change regeneration resulting from suicide might not be canon, we've seen it seemingly happen to the Master after being stabbed by his future self (foreshadowed by the line about not being 'self-destructive') and the Doctor becoming a woman a few hours after effectively blowing himself up. The General might be the only onscreen exception so far, unless we count him 'allowing' the Doctor to 'kill' him.

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I did at one point consider doing a fan theory on that idea, however when you look into it The Master, The Twelfth Doctor & The General's death are more stretched to "self-sacrifice" or at the very least "suicide by..." which could be debated.
      Also when you look at the expanded media regarding same change regenerations there are several which are clearly just normal circumstances of a regeneration which result in a sex change.
      Lastly too there are plenty of other instances of a "suicidal" regeneration which didn't result in a sex-change, most notably The Fifth, Ninth & Tenth Doctor's sacrificing their lives to save their respective companions Peri & Rose & Wilf.
      I think it's a fantastic concept certainly, and in a way a shame it never got to be part of the official canon, but it would be difficult to fit in it now given the evidence

  • @teddyedward1973

    How can anyone consider Peter Cushing canon?
    The very idea terrifies the nation!

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Well actually Cushing had his own theory that the character he played in the movies was a future incarnation of the TV Doctor who once again encounter the Celestial Toy Maker and was forced to entertain him by reliving imaginary versions of his past adventures.
      Whilst it's not something I believe myself, many do and so I have done a video about it :

    Full Fathom Five is always a strong favourite of mine. It took me several re-listens before something occurred to me with the Doctor knowing the D.E.E.P.'s operation and just how dangerous it'd be. Maybe it's just my interpretation, but I think he saw the results in the future, probably severely destructive given the super soldier plans, and then decided to go back and prevent it all from happening. He could try and fan the flames, but feels that stopping the experiments in the past would be for the best.

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Agreed, I think I like it because it's so unlike anything else we get in Doctor Who.
      And I think that's the general idea, as the premise is that this is a Doctor who believes "the ends justify the means", so even though he's acting with the best intentions, he's doing so with a ruthlessness that we've not come to expect from The Doctor.

    What if there was a continuation of Full Fathom Five, I mean think about it, imagine Ruth taking the tardis key (Don't shoot me), and she somehow managed to travel to Gallifrey where she would probably get captured by the Time Lords, she questions them about The Doctor, in which they respond with every horrid act he did, maybe even delving into full fathom Master maybe.

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Other people have said that and suggested that The FFF Doctor is now canon but that would make no sense.
      The whole point of the story of Full Fathom Five is that it ends with *SPOILER ALERT* the death of The Doctor as they are continually shot until they die for good...yes we only see/hear it happen once but the narrative is pretty is conclusive by implication.
      If you try to retcon it by saying they SOMEHOW survive, then it completely ruins the "Ends Justifying The Means" narrative, with the ironic twist being that The Doctor dies (and by extension condemns his own future selves) by the very code he decided to live by

    • @daccopp30
      @daccopp30 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CaptainJimiPie I am by all means not saying retcon The Doctor dying, I'm just suggesting a idea that could put more history to The Full Fathom Doctor

      But that's my point...in order to continue you the story you'd have the retcon The Doctor dying, because as I said the story implication is that The Doctor is continually killed until they're dead for good.

    Why is the Doctor an orphan who barley became a Timelord ( scrapping by with a 51% on his second attempt). The only person to be president of the Timelords?
    I have never understood this, ever since the fourth Doctor claimed the right to be president since he was the only available legal candidate.

      I think you've misheard/misunderstood ALOT of information.
      The Doctor isn't an orphan at all, whilst very little is known about his actual parents (and what is known is up for debate) both of his parents have been assumed to be very much alive.
      As for the presidency then there have been PLENTY of presidents so by no means is The Doctor the only one to be president, and The Fourth Doctor never claimed to be the only legal candidate, he stated that there is nothing in Gallifreyan and TimeLord law that prevented him from standing as a candidate despite being accused of murder at the time

      CaptainJimiPie I just watched the invasion of time. And I swear I remember him saying to Barusa, is there another legal candidate?
      Also in the episode Listen. When Clara grabs the ankle of the child Doctor, who is an orphan on that slum farm. And the man says he will never be a Timelord.
      I only go off the TV version. I know that Big Finish is cannon ppl say. But I chose to only go by the original medium of the show (TV). Sorry, not trying to be arguable. Just trying to understand.

      Again you've misremembered it slightly, what is actually said is that Goth (the only other presidential candidate) says The Fourth Doctor is abusing a legal technicality, and The Fourth Doctor replies that he is claiming a legal right.
      And again Listen never states that The Doctor is an orphan, he is sleeping in the barn as during his early days at the academy (which is assumed to be like a boarding school) he used to sneak out to the barn to sleep there so the other boys wouldn't hear him crying, with the two people who appear in the barn likely to be "guardians" at the school.
      Also whilst her identity is very much up for debate, it is generally accepted (and was written) that The Woman in The End Of Time that keeps appearing to Wilf and appears next to Rassilon is his Mother, so again not an orphan.
      I can understand wanting to stick to the TV version however I would recommend, at the very least, checking the TARDIS wiki for information on the expanded media, whether it's books, Big Finish or comics as otherwise you will miss out on alot of information that explains gaps in things you will miss if you only stick to the TV version

      CaptainJimiPie got yuh, thank you for the reply’s. Love the videos (obviously since I am watching).
      Just last thing to be “that guy”. Isn’t Goth in The Deadly Assassin? I do not recall him in The Invasion of Time. 😅
      I remember Goth saying what you said. But in The Deadly Assassin. In Invasion of Time the Doctor has no competition for president. He even remarks that Barusas new tittle could not of been appointed to him, since no one was president. And Barusa says well at the least I am still a Cardinal then.
      I know there have been other presidents since this episode. But ever since this episode, it seems like whenever the Doctor finds themselves on Gallifrey (5th Doctor or Peter Capaldi’s Doctor). They are instantly wanted as president or even made president..
      Sorry just thought of this while typing the first part of this comment. Like you said I gotta expand the from the TV universe.

      Thanks, and yes you are right, that's my fault, sorry haha I always get Invasion Of Time & Deadly Assassin confused because they both take place mostly on Gallifrey and revolved around the presidency...so I'm the one misremembering, sorry!
      So you are right in what you were saying about there being no other legal candidate in that instance, as for The Doctor being president I believe that after the events of The Deadly Assassin, there were several Presidents/President-Elects, but before the events of Invasion Of Time the incumbent President committed suicide leaving them without one.
      At which point when The Fourth Doctor returned in IOT he reclaims the presidency after being elected in TDA and because there was no one else to challenge him he was given the title.
      However due to having his mind wiped by the demat gun The Fourth Doctor forgets he was elected and thus surrenders the title, to Borusa who took on the Presidency, until the events of The Five Doctors, after which due to his invovlement in saving Gallifrey The Doctor is re-elected by majority vote of the High Council, and (reluctantly) accepts but leaves Flavia as acting president, although she is later overthrown, and again many more Presidents are elected over the years, including Romana.
      Skipping ahead, after defeating Rassilon The Doctor resumed the title once again before abandoning it, however again probably due to his actions in the time war, when compared to Rassilon he was considered a far better man.
      And no worries about asking, as I said it's well worth finding out more about the expanded media, even if you don't follow it as much of it, including everything I've said above is part of it and can be missed if you only watch the TV Show.

    Wrong the war doctor is Canon

      @CaptainJimiPie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you've misunderstood me, I'm saying that any Doctors, who ARE NOT part of the First - Thirteenth line up (INCLUDING the War Doctor in that line up) are Unbound.
      Admittedly I didn't perhaps phrase it the best way but I certainly regard The War Doctor as canon!

      Why do you reject the war doctor being Canon

      I'm not...I just said I'm including the War Doctor IN the canon line up

      Well that's your choice but personally I'd recommend giving them a go, as they're not canon it's interesting to listen to the alternative ideas and timelines

      @@CaptainJimiPie I wasn't criticising them (or your video), just commenting on the complexity :-)

      @CaptainJimiPie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Didn't mean for it to come across that way, sorry haha I did understand what you meant :) but I do agree it is very complex but as each Unbound Doctor is their own continuity in their own right it's actually a lot less complex than it seems
