4:21:12 “Everything hurts but I’m still having fun” has got to be one of the most relatable quotes of the trip. I did a 38 day from Windigo lake down the Windigo, Pipestone, Asheweig, Fawn, and Severn (plus tons of creeks and a few smaller rivers) to fort Severn on Hudson Bay, and I can really relate. I had foot rot for a large amount of the trip, it was rainy for 2 weeks straight, I was tired and sore, but it was still one of the best experiences of my life.
I really thought I would get bored watching hike, portage, canoe, hike, portage, canoe BUT I loved every second of watching you guys doing something I’m unable to do. Great job Noah, Matt, Eric and Alex!
The moment I spotted the moose in the video, it reminded me of watching a cow walk along a lake towards my stand in the rain. She got so close to me that I could hear her shake the water off. I’m only 15 minutes into the video and I love it already!
Fellas.... holy cow! I mean, WOW!!! I thought I was tough doing 90 miles in the BWCA over a week, or 120 miles in 5 days in Yellowstone. Then, there's you four. I need to step up my game! You guys did an AMAZING job with this video. Seriously, this was entertaining from start to finish, and had me staying up last night until 1:30 AM before I had to stop and pick it back up today. Mad respect to you gentlemen. I am thoroughly impressed. Please, keep it coming! This is some of the best content I've seen in years.
Fine experience there boy's. Raw country & you have great documentation of it. Keep er going! I passed just north of Attikonak this winter on snowshoes. Thought about you lads crossing through.
I watched the episodes of this trip before, and just watched the whole 6 hours again. The reason I came back to it was not just to experience the paddling and scenery, but to see the camaraderie. I’m now retired, but I worked at an office job with a lot of couch potatoes who complained endlessly about the smallest things. So to see the positive spirit and willingness to suffer actual hardship to achieve a goal is so refreshing. The highlights were the reunion, when Alex and Eric joined the expedition, and the mammoth undertaking of the canyon portage. That’s what stuck with me the most. Your videos are so professionally well done. The music is beautiful, the drone shots are magnificent. You should really have so many more subscribers.
It's amazing how you struggle through the alders with the heavy loads & miraculously you get to your destination and your canoe gets there first lol Love your adventure
Back in the late 80s I owned and operated a fly fishing lodge on Atikonak River four miles downstream from Atikonak Lake. I also owned the set of camps on the lower Kepimets River. I have been where you guys were; under those power lines, around those islands on the southern end of Atikonak lake. Watching this reconnected me with that time. The piece of sawn wood you found while wind-bound on Atikonak may well have been by one of the groups Garrett and Alexandra Conover led. They are Maine guides who use the traditional 18' wood/canvas canoes built by Jerry Stelmok in Atkinson, ME. They made several trips from Oreway to the Churchill Falls road.

In honour of this great series I bushwhacked through at least 200m of bush in the Arkell trails near Guelph, On. During a downpour. It was raining hard enough that my jeans got wet. One hour later I was safe in my home watching the last two and a half hours.
what an amzing journey. i dream of doing a trip like this. i cant think of a better way for friends to spend time together. forging memories that last a lifetime. cheers
Minnesota born and bred with a few USBW and Quetico canoe trips under the belt. One thing I really found extraordinary is your ability to communicate and coordinate together without emotion getting the better of either of you. I find it refreshing that neither of you complained about distribution of responsibility, both of you understood what had to be done and accomplished it. The trips I have done have been no more than 14 days and it was difficult to remain cordial between trip participants. Big respect, it is hard to find people that a person can spend 14 days that understands the importance of emotionless responsibility, let alone double that. Great video, epic trip, and congratulations.
What an Amazing excursion! I twisted an ankle 3 times just watching it. Thank you for an amazing 6 hours of what I would love to do... if I still could. Brings back many memories of walking the Niagara Gorge when I was younger.
I'm back before my 40 KM trip. Nothing compared to this, but the value of pushing through and staying strong is interlaced with every moment of this video. Well done.
I've watched alot of whitewater youtubies run rapids.its always a view of the front person, cross draw, draw paddle foward.your the first to actually show what the guy in the back is doing.your awesome.ty for doing what you do and sharing it with us.

this was a great watch, you are all fantastic, kind, funny, smart, and a bit cool. and then there's the wild rivers. thanks for making this and sharing it. I'll never do this, for a start that many insect bites and I'd be in hospital - so I'm glad I got to watch you do it.
It's rare to see such clear thinking and vocalization. I've been scouting other routes in Canada from afar with Google Earth/Maps and this video really helps put the real terrain together with the photographic information. Probably the best adventure video I've seen in my life. Thank you!
What a wonderful Adventure, Even though I am too old to complete a trip like this. It was wonderful to watch you guys and share this adventure. Thank you
I get too excited watching these. You guys definitely are the only reason why I could sleep on work nights going into Covid step-down nursing last year. Such beautiful work. So stoked for all of this- really thanks for sharing!
Watched the entire video with my wife and enjoyed the entire thing. The adventure and scenery was fantastic. You guys are hard core and tough as nails. One of the things that my wife and I enjoyed the most was that there were no negative moments in the film. I'm sure you had your moments over 30 grueling days, but it wasn't necessary to show them. Instead you showed positive attitudes and an appreciation and enjoyment of the outdoors. Even when you had to trudge through a bog, or spend hours walking through thick alders you kept it positive. That makes the film so much more enjoyable as we don't like to see drama between people - nature provided enough of that on its own. I'm still itching just from seeing all the mosquitos and flies buzzing around and landing on you. Years back I was fishing with a friend and we were catching fish but the deer flies were eating us up. We decided to leave the fish because the flies were too bad. And you guys dealt with it for almost the entire time. My hat's off to you. Thank you for posting a great video.
Thanks for following along Rick! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Staying positive is definitely one of the keys to success out there. The next would be a bug shirt lol. Cheers
Noah, Alex, Matt and Eric...Congrats on an incredible trip. I enjoyed watching all of these episodes so much over the last month, waiting for the paddling season to begin. Truly inspiring. You are very lucky to have found such a fantastic group of companions to tackle such a journey. How you kept smiling on that canyon portage was a clinic on patience and mental endurance. With the right group of people, strength comes in numbers to prop each other up. This river is now on my bucket list as a future goal....now if only I can find 30+ days... Thanks again for taking us along and I can't wait for the next one.

Wow! I don't think words can describe exactly how this video made me feel, but to put it in perspective, I genuinely felt like I was alongside you guys in this journey. I imagined myself in the canoe with you guys through every rapid and every crystal clear lake, every high and low. This video is by far the most impactful video I have watched on TH-cam. So extremely underrated. This was a film from start to finish, took me a few days to get through, but that's the best part, after a long day at work I was so excited to get home and enter the journey again. Every moment from when you guys almost lost the canoe in the rapids to the feeling of watching your boys fly into the lake you're camped out at. Not to mention, the extremely treacherous, extremely difficult portages everything. I have done a camping trip that is no where near comparison to this journey, but we had 3 tin boats packed to the rim lining them up and down 3 sets of rapids in a river that flows into Georgian Bay, was a tough journey with an incredible reward. Your movie here reminded me of that journey, but humbled me with the absolute craziness that you guys endured. I tip my hat to you, and thank you for giving us the gift of this film. You're an incredible filmmaker, and you deserve so much more popularity on this platform. Thank you, Northern Scavenger Thank you, Noah Booth ❤
Wife and I just watched the entire video and we was sad to see it end. Would love to be able to do an adventure like this one day. Outstanding video, had us hooked the entire time. Thank you for sharing.
what an incredible trip I was so please to see Alec and Eric join you and Matt , that trip was a slog ,,it surprises me we dont see much wildlife along these rivers , ut what amazing country and so beautiful , another great video thank you
Spent today watching the whole 6 hours of this video and it was one of the fun most entertaining and delightful excursions that I've been on through video. Not only were you guys exceptional itself in your problems but you maintained such a wonderful attitude just a joy to watch your joy as you got this thing done. This grandma is proud of you.
Guys, thank you for taking me on this journey with you! It's like my dream came true. I wish to do it one day. I was so happy when you've accomplished it. Amazing advanture and massive smile on my face. Fab❤️greetings from uk
@@NorthernScavenger I lost my left leg five years ago, so these chips are obviously kind of out of the question for me. I still go camping. I do some hiking. I still get out there. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you guys or doing this amazing journey and sharing it as one of the best adventure documentaries we’ve ever seen! We loved watching every minute of it, and we’re impressed by your positive supportive attitude to each other. Your seemed to truly appreciate and enjoy all of the experiences. We are a senior couple living in BC. We felt like in a small way, we were there.
I did a 10 day canoe trip in Sweden and man, the preparations you need is insane! We ended up having rain 4 days and nights and if we didn’t do that preparation right, it would have made it a miserable vacation. It was a great experience with my partner and though it was hard working, I’m happy we did it.
Really want you to know how great it is to experience this trip albeit vicariously thru all of you! It was amazing and mind-blowing and breathtaking... All of you work well together and the positive attitudes are your key to pushing on! Thank you for filming these and hope that you do many more in the future❤🛶
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your incredible experience. Thank you for filming it for everyone, I'm sure that sometimes it seems like an extra hassle, but you did a great job!
I just found your video , I watched you two work so hard to get to your group stop, then you four blew my mind. Your friendship your work ethic and love for the wilderness made me love you all . Thanks for sharing. Thanks for cutting the portage for future adventurer’s. You all ROCK! ❤
Wow, just finished watching your amazing adventure in that beautiful, big country. The most lasting impression is the look on your faces during good times and hard times. They were the faces of being ALIVE! Cheers to you all and heartfelt thanks for sharing this adventure.
Enjoyed your video from Wallaceburg Ontario. I was surprised that you didn't eat the pike. In the 70s my mother caught a pike in Manitoulin Island and the pike broke through the chain from the boat. Powerful creatures
@@NorthernScavenger I'm afraid I beat you to it, I devoured those before jumping onto this one. 😆 I haven't done a trip as long as yours yet and my videos are a juuuuust a bit more tame, but your (editor's) editing style is similar to mine and I really enjoy watching your videos. At the risk of sounding like the 137th star struck fan, saying the same thing: give me a shout if you ever find yourself in the Kootenays! Happy to offer a shuttle and/or share a refreshing beverage! Keep 'em coming!
Quite the 5 afternoons I checked in to watch, or re-watch. Amazing week. Your all a Bunch of Good Lads. Thanks so much for sharing. Music was timely, and a Hit! God Bless you All.
The best gift on 3.rd day of Christmas watching this whole film! Good thing the weather is bad today👍 Absolutely wonderfully done you guys!🏆💖💐 What a strong and fine achievment! Special this, seing I am 1/2 canadian~ my father trained in litle Norway to be a catalina ✈️ pilot for the 2.nd world war, and met my mother from Toronto❤ Lots of love from Elisabeth in Norway🇧🇻 kajakk enthusiast going om 70 years.
6+ hours of fantastic river and backcountry adventure! Great job filming, working, and telling the story. I cannot even tell you how much this makes me what to purchase a canoe! Cheers boys! Here's to more adventures.
Unbelievable work of positive energy ,endurance, comradeship, super planning in so many ways, deserves a Canagrammy for sure , along with the order of Canada. A great video to promote the 138 east extension from La Romaine to Old Fort Bay …… you guys have provin it can be done …….. Congratulations 👏 and wow …… Bravo 🙌 😮
Thank-you….Noah, Matt, Eric and Alex. As a young women I had the finest pleasure of wilderness canoeing. It was a pleasure reliving a ten day trip in the height of the bug season! ( surprised you did not mention the sound of a thousand/million mosquitoes)😅….a trip that catapulted my life long love. In my next life….I’m coming back to continue more Canadian canoeing adventures, but in the meantime grateful for such upbeat pleasurable visuals!
Powering through this 6hr video. Love it…love it. Paused and typing this after seeing and you asking for comments on the little worm looking thing. We have those here in Minnesota as well. horsehair or Gordian worm. Well, back to the video!! Great work
Watched every minute of the 6 hours, epic. You lads got me thinking of the pioneers of years past, brave men, working without a map ,no gps.Your a solid group of friends. Thanks for the experience.I was taken by the silence and in contrast, the roar of the rapid Gotta love the Forty Creek eh?🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍
totally amazing to watch. ups and downs. I can't believe everything you all went through. that mountain portage was just crazy. thanks for taking us along. so happy there were no accidents.
As someone who only started camping in my 30’s, my goal is to do a back country portage some day. Learned so much from this video, and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks, boys. 🇨🇦
We did some rapids with Rios Tropicales in Costa Rica. The overnight was spent so deep in the jungle all we could hear was the calls of the wild primates and other creatures. Funny enough we didn’t have any mosquitos there. Our captain dumped us in the murky water. I had kept from falling off the river raft but Cayman live there so it was a memorable moment trying to scramble back in the raft all soaked and slippery. 🤷🏼♀️ Thanks A LOT ALEJANDRO
I have never seen this many bugs in my life, but my.. this is the absolute best video I have ever seen on TH-cam. Kudos to you guys, this has become my favorite channel, and there is so much awesome content awaiting! Keep at it, this really spikes the adventurer in me!
Man that's so epic! The trip, the landscape, the video editing, everything! It,s inspiring seeing you guy doing all these adventures. 6hours has passed so fast! Thanks for sharing this.
The most important part of any trip like this is the preparation. You can't take too much but you dare not take too little. Enough gear and food for the trip and maybe a bit more for error, but not too much more. The planning this involves is tremendous. I'd like to see you guys do a video on how you plan everything - food, clothes, back-up gear in case of failure, etc.
Been meaning to watch this for quite some time... finally did and it did not disappoint! Well done boys!! River looked wicked and the edit was great, some nice cinematic touches in there too. Côte-Nord looks unreal, will have to get out there someday. Awesome!
I continue to be blown away by the content you guys provide. Such amazing team work and patience like always. Your editing and music paired with each different setting really sets the tone of what is going on. Thanks for your efforts and for sharing with us!
Can't thank you enough for sharing this jaw dropping adventure! Love the camaraderie, the ups and downs, and the ridiculous amount of work to get it all on film! So appreciative gentlemen and looking forward to more 💚
My wife and I stumbled on this video and we're loving it. And I just now got extra excited seeing the boys and their floatplane--we actually paddled a similar river to the Aguanish (the Oleman, starts below the Labrador plateau a few watersheds east of the Aguanish) and no surprise, we flew in with the same guys in Natashquan! Wasn't expecting that. The Oleman was a huuuge adventure for us---the ancient Innu portages were long gone, only one other guy had been down it in recent memory (we had his amazing maps/notes), and I've never worked harder, nor had a more rewarding experience. Anyway this great video of yours has us reliving some of that, and we loooove the amazing footage, the hacks, the geo lessons, and totally enjoy you guys and your amazing attitudes!
Carrying a Canyon to avoid a canyon. That's impressive, those things aren't exactly ultralight... @5:19:05 - If you can't be efficient, at least be effective. Very impressive work and mindset!
1 hour in & I'm hooked... mad respect for you both on this epic adventure! It was quite the major undertaking to accomplish & to document. Well done 👏 ❤
I’ve seen burn areas like you have along the River here in Alaska. I have seen areas 20 years after a fire with little undergrowth growing. The burned spruce last forever. We live on ground that was burned 25 years ago and there are still dry burned spruce in the undergrowth. I love your series. My son and I did week long back country trips portaging into different lakes for fishing starting when he was five around 1980. We have done many rivers. When I was growing up back east in the 1960s we used to fish for Northern Pike in Lac Chigoubiche area off highway 167 North of Lac St Jean. The last time I was there was 1975. We were a few lakes back from the road fishing and two F-5 fighters did a low pass over us. I also canoed the Allagash River, in Maine that year. I’m 70 now and still get outdoors.
Thank you guys for doing this trip and documenting it. It gave me a great 6 hour break during a pretty rough patch. It was so appreciated from a fellow paddler.

Props to Matt, he played a big role with very little experience in these longer trips

Much respect gentlemen..much respect
The long thin worm in the water is called hairsnake/horsehair worms/Gordian worms. I remember catching them in Sylvan Lake, Alberta as a kid.
Thanks! I was hoping someone would answer!
Me too!!
One of the greatest documentaries I've ever watched!!!!!that was amazing!!
Much appreciated!
@@NorthernScavenger I lost my left leg five years ago, so these chips are obviously kind of out of the question for me. I still go camping. I do some hiking. I still get out there. Looking forward to your next video.
@briangrigutsbmgoutdoors7866 Way to inspire, Brian. Keep getting after it and enjoying the outdoors
Best 6h I've ever spent. Well done
U guys r soooo lucky to be able to do this trip!
Thank you so much for sharing this - so sad it’s over! What a great adventure for all of you- I’m looking forward to catching up on all of them.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your incredible experience. Thank you for filming it for everyone, I'm sure that sometimes it seems like an extra hassle, but you did a great job!
Thanks Teresa :)
I just found your video , I watched you two work so hard to get to your group stop, then you four blew my mind. Your friendship your work ethic and love for the wilderness made me love you all . Thanks for sharing. Thanks for cutting the portage for future adventurer’s. You all ROCK! ❤
Thank you so much!
That was amazing. Certainly wasn't ready for it to end. Thank you for all the effort you put into this project!
Thanks Ben! You should check out Crossing Labrador and Gateway to the Arctic :)
@@NorthernScavenger I'm afraid I beat you to it, I devoured those before jumping onto this one. 😆
I haven't done a trip as long as yours yet and my videos are a juuuuust a bit more tame, but your (editor's) editing style is similar to mine and I really enjoy watching your videos.
Good thing the weather is bad today👍
Absolutely wonderfully done you guys!🏆💖💐 What a strong and fine achievment!

6+ hours of fantastic river and backcountry adventure! Great job filming, working, and telling the story. I cannot even tell you how much this makes me what to purchase a canoe! Cheers boys! Here's to more adventures.
Epic trip and amazing production. Congrats!
Great work
This is what life should be, good friends and great adventures! Thank you all for sharing this with us😊
Watched every minute of the 6 hours, epic.
Damn. That's a must see! Love it. Thx so much for sharing your trip
Thanks A LOT ALEJANDRO
Absolutely EPIC!!! Loved this!!!
I have never seen this many bugs in my life, but my.. this is the absolute best video I have ever seen on TH-cam. Kudos to you guys, this has become my favorite channel, and there is so much awesome content awaiting! Keep at it, this really spikes the adventurer in me!
Amazing, thank you!
Amazing journey , amazing footage , amazing inner strength! glad I found you guys , keep up the amazing content !
Man that's so epic! The trip, the landscape, the video editing, everything! It,s inspiring seeing you guy doing all these adventures. 6hours has passed so fast!
Thanks for sharing this.
im from quebec i didnt have finished your video yet but big big shout out for trying hard speaking french apreciate !
I need to finish the last episodes! Got a new puppy and she is eating all my free time! (And my shoes too)
Beautiful place
Been meaning to watch this for quite some time... finally did and it did not disappoint! Well done boys!! River looked wicked and the edit was great, some nice cinematic touches in there too. Côte-Nord looks unreal, will have to get out there someday. Awesome!
Blown away by this documentary guys... I never ever watched a full 6hr video before. What an experience! Excellent filmography and editing. Loved it!!
Man this doc is getting me fired up for another northern Quebec trip. I need more wilderness paddling trips in my life.
I continue to be blown away by the content you guys provide. Such amazing team work and patience like always. Your editing and music paired with each different setting really sets the tone of what is going on. Thanks for your efforts and for sharing with us!
Watched this over a few days. Always looking forward to the next time.Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed this video very much!
This was an epic adventure. I’ve watched over a few days ….. and it was honestly hard to turn it off.
I need to quit my job so I can watch this video. I'm sure it'll be worth it, 5 mins in 👌
Carrying a Canyon to avoid a canyon. That's impressive, those things aren't exactly ultralight...
@5:19:05 - If you can't be efficient, at least be effective. Very impressive work and mindset!
It was nice to watch your entire trip! You are a good group of guys...thank you so much!
Proud to say I watched all 6 hours. You guys are great and I wish I had a bond they way y’all do! Truly amazing content. Thanks so much
1 hour in & I'm hooked... mad respect for you both on this epic adventure!
Glad you enjoyed, Tim
I'm only 14 min in and the scenery/skies are INCREDIBLE 🎉😊.
I like Canada because it's so vast and beautiful untouched wilderness
Well done fellas. Love that call of the wild! Thank you for sharing.
