When you said “what are your hobbies? Do you even have any anymore?” I really felt that. I’m a new mom and I’ve find myself getting lost in one role and ignoring raising myself up as an individual. I’m slowly working on painting, singing, and journaling again. And what you said kind of sealed it for me. Thank you 🤍
Gabrielle Cuda WoW this is amazing!!! It took me about 2 years after 2 kids to finally understand that I am important to myself and that I need to care for myself as well. 😅
congratulations!! I m a new mom too. It s such a big change and your priorities change in life. But it s very difficult not to only focus on your baby-try to have time for yourself...
I was recently told by a friend that hobbies are a luxury she cannot afford (she is a single mom). That got me thinking and wondering how many people are in the same boat, trying to fit relationships, work, exercise, home-schooling their children, cooking, cleaning, shopping, yard & home maintenance, self-care, all of that, into a mere 168 hours (= one week). It made me more appreciative of the "free" time I have.
‘What are your hobbies? Do you have them anymore?’ That really hit. I’m what they consider ‘essential’ here and I can honestly say I’ve been struggling since March with everything that’s been going on. Sleep, work, and meal prep. Being outside, drawing/painting is what I enjoy and I haven’t been able to enjoy for a long time. Always busy, always stressed. Looking forward to reevaluating this lifestyle that I mentally created and making some more ‘me’ time.
I know you’ve heard it all before but the editing of your posts is simply incredible. I love popping your videos on while I’m feeding my newborn and sinking into the sweet magical world of Rachel Aust. I absolutely love your content, you inspire me to be the best version of myself. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ✨🌸🌞🌿
This is so beautiful and just what I needed. I’m a working mom of three, and in the last two years my dad was sick with cancer & passed away and my life was pretty much put on hold for all the stress I was going through for everyone/everything else and I honestly lost my happiness. I hit a huge low and it’s been really hard to pick myself up again. I really needed to hear this. Thank you so much!💕
This was literally my favorite TH-cam video I have ever seen..... i love all of your content... but as a stay at home mum to 3 girls im always busy.. always stressed... i never feel like I've got enough done... and this was literally everything I needed.... it reminded me to take a step back.... and breathe.... this video will make me a better mum. A better wife and a better me;) so much love from south carolina usa
"Do your best, perfection is not realistic." So much love for this statement! 💛💛💛 Being a perfectionist can stop you from making progress in so many areas of your life. Be kind to yourself! 🌸
To simplify my lifestyle sometimes I simply just isolate myself for a bit if I’ve been distracting myself with people and unnecessary social gatherings/ interaction. A weekend alone or with someone I love usually grounds me
I feel like, for those of us who have been experiencing restrictions/ isolation, it's been an eye opener as to how much we needed to slow down and avoid excessive interaction. I hope you are well 🖤
Without kids, it’s a little easier for me to answer. I personally wake up at 4:30 every morning, i go to work at 8. This is time to myself where I can watch inspirational videos, like yours, to inspire me and keep me grounded. Then I stretch in a quiet room for 30 mins and meditate for 5. I prepare myself for the day. On the weekends, i love to do home decor or home Improvements. It’s very calming and exciting for me all at the same time. Of course, CrossFit is a huge release for me as well. I absolutely love your videos and get so inspired by them so thank you for sharing!
Laura S 9:30 usually. But honestly, getting up is a struggle when other people are up. I’m not a nice morning person lol this gives me time to have my coffee and my time to wake up before the husband gets up.
Great video! I have spent the last 2 years simplifying & decluttering my life. I found I was exhausted all the time. I have now rediscovered the importance a DAY of REST. I take 1 day where I do no work, I don't work out, I don't shop, I don't clean. I spend time with family, in my garden, playing with pets, reading, etc. It REALLY makes a difference!!
“Listen to what YOU need” that’s key! For me it’s spending more time outside. I started waking up earlier on my day off to go horseback riding, which I used to be extremely passionate about. Sweating, laughing and problem solving with a 1200 lb animal really puts my human-relationship-drama into perspective 😂 It makes me only want to be around people that make me feel good, just like a horse. Because they are prey animals, they flee from negativity, literally.
“So many tasks that weren’t yours to bare will fall off your to-do list.” Thank you ❤️ I feel responsible for everyone in my life and I do so much for others that I don’t focus on myself and am too stressed to invest in myself at that point.. thank you ❤️
Like you said, it's so important to "check" our belifs, ideas, values and so on... many are not even ours (they were passed on to us since birth and may not apply to us/this time anymore). That is how I realized that I don't believe in the religion I was raised in since birth: and it made aware of the beliefs that I actually wanted to cultivate in myself. Everyone should do it 👍 Love from Portugal
I like what you said specially the part about boundaries. With time I have realized that Time is precious. You cannot buy time, and you cannot take back time, so we have to make the best out of it and spend it in the things that are important. For me Having a schedule, hobbies, exercise, good sleep, eating well, maintain a clean environment, praying, time with nature, time with love ones and a huge thing ... having a day for me! I take one day a week to just lay down, relax, do what ever was not done during the week but mainly relax.
Hi Rachel. I have followed you for years and have never commented before. Your videos just keep getting better. I loved this one especially. I'm personally so sick of fake and over the top positivity that's seen particularly on Instagram. You're so real which makes you inspirational. Keep making amazing content. Also, I have the same breed of rabbit as you. Mine is 8 years old this year and the fur maintenance gets easier when they get older 😂
@@RachelAust omg you replied 😂😍 I only have one. I always wanted to get a second one but I was never sure how mine would react. He doesn't seem to be lonely or depressed. My mum recently saved one (some woman from my work was going to abandon hers in the bush 🤬) and our rabbits have play dates but mine seems to get tired and tries to hide. It was so funny introducing them, mine was really scared. He hasn't seen another rabbit since his litter 😂 Anyway, thank you for replying. Hope you're well especially during lockdown 😔💕
I really needed this. I am a registered nurse and I work on a Covid unit. Lately I’ve been having the go-go mentality and never make time to have me time. Your videos have helped inspire me to enjoy my time off and actually take up a hobby in gardening and growing succulents. It’s helped me be more present and engaged. Slowing down has actually helped. Thank you❤️
Your such a inspiration thank you! Every time I need something to help spark my fire you post something with reasons to keep pressing on. You have no idea how much joy your videos bring me
During quarantine i was able to do your 8 weeks program. I also started to do 30days yoga (at first because I heard breathing is good against Covid), but now almost 6mos later I still do it for the sense of control. I learned Im less stressed with 30mins max for exercise. I also tried Konmari, it took me a month (which is wrong...), but it did help me feel like my room isn't suffocating. And again I know where everything is so I feel more in control. What helped me the most is trying anything new: planting, pizza making, candles... I never knew my passion, all I know is my 9-6job is not something I enjoy. Quarantine gave me the time and courage to try.
I didnt know till I watch this, How much I needed this. Simplify is what I'm looking forward, I need to. All truth, Stress, anxiety, between being mom and work it's always hectic. At one point the suffocating feeling, pressure is stuck in my throat. Though this year I've prioritised what's more important. I guess we all does at some point, but this is such a realization. Life is simple, with responsibilities we forget about such. I'll keep that in mind. Thank you sooooooo much for reminding me that nothing is impossible if we try or simply take a pause 🙏 🌷
I love this video. I think that it is super important to slow down. I think we live in a world where we are expected to produce and react in an unreasonably fast amount of time because we are so plugged in and tuned in. I like to find the beauty in the little things - from the ritual of preparing coffee or tea, drawing, loving on the animals, or listening to music while I clean.
The plants are just so relaxing to look at... I have really taken so much joy in caring for plants during these hard times. It’s so nice to have a piece of nature and life filling your home🥰
I purchased an at home exercise machine to simplify my lifestyle. I live in an incredible warm climate where it is impossible to go for an afternoon stroll or an evening jog. It’s consistently 100 degrees or more in the summer months. Getting my Peloton has allowed me to get the exercise that my body needs, while also allowing me to do things that bring me joy, such as watching your TH-cam videos. We have to be kind to our minds and our bodies. 🌻
Thanks for this video. Personally, I've found it helpful to stop buying things I don't need and I also started batch cooking to save time. It's still a work in progress, but these were simple changes that I found had a huge impact on my time and energy.
To simplify my lifestyle, I try to skip useless distractions in aim to concentrate on my hobbies. For that I plan in a bulletjournal. Thank you for this video, concerning very profound topics .
My quarantine hobby has become maintaining a few bird feeders -including hummingbird, and bird bath. They aren’t high maintenance. But it gives me something to keep any eye on. And the life it’s bringing around my house is really enjoyable.
Hey girl! I relate to that - having to work to find your goal. I feel like many people have this (incorrect) idea that everyone just KNEW their goals in life - but everyone has to go through self work and exploration, and many people don’t talk about that
I felt that hobbies comment. I used to LOVE doing my makeup just for the heck of it because it was fun and since me and my sisters business has started picking up, I find myself doing it way less or even stopped completely. Tomorrow will be day 1 of our mini hiatus to recenter ourselves before working again - a little vacation if you will. Needed this video as I was panicking on what to do in my time off!
Lovely video! I have a walking path near my home so I’ve been walking a lot and really loving it, looking at the beautiful nature makes me very happy! I have five new plants that I’ve been enjoying taking care of them 👍
You are really such an honest and wonderful soul. I love your videos and they bring me peace. Yes I only started having my own hobbies recently . And yes mums like me need hobbies. I'm a mum of three boys one left at school (y11) and two adult boys. I feel depleted - one no longer at home and I'm finding it hard without him. But coping and its best for him. I love time to garden and recently found I do have time but I have to block time. out otherwise it doesnt happen. Mental clarity is our health. how can you love with out loving yourself and enjoying your life. I wish I started years ago. Thank you for sharing your calm and peaceful life.
@RachelAust You know what? I have been following you for years now and I love how you and your general aesthetic have evolved throughout the years from a strict black and white minimalist to a more relaxed organic vibe. You've grown so much and continue to do so much good. Keep it up!
I do have some hobbies. I love to explore the world around me, specially with a camera. I like to draw, and sing, and I read all the time, if learning is a hobby I'm massively on it then. It's refreshing to watch a perfectionist youtuber staying real. Your bunny is looking big. I'm not a particularly religious person but I do believe in the concept of having a resting day from productivity just to celebrate and collect the fruits of our harbor and recover. I like your wall deco, i feel your house and style reflect a very Australian, native vibe, super cute. Personally, I feel reflection is way more important than meditation. Reflecting upon your life meets you with your reality and that is healthy, it makes you develop strategies to get where you want to go. If we don't our feelings will overwhelm and confuse us, we need to address those needs rationally, and then we can come back to our distractions and abstractions. I've been living in the moment because Covid showed me you cannot predict the future and that is a blessing
Ahh, this video is so calming & magical 😌 I’ve been looking into doing a happiness hacks video next! I love filming all things health & wellness. This has really inspired me ✨
Thank you for sharing Rachel 😊. I struggle a lot with self love and motivation. I overthink due to anxiety and depression but I'm definitely trying my best to make changes in my life.
What a beautiful look into your life! Thank you! I love wild swimming in the summer and walking in the winter... I love looking after my plants and the dogs... and the gym. It is the second week we have been allowed back to train. And reading.... I love to read.
I so love your house! What a peaceful feeling. Your bunny is adorable. I am also in the road of self discovery and I've been wanting to redefine my life. Hopefully just like you I can finally simplify my life.
Thank you for sharing this. I was touched by simplicity and sincerity of your sharing. I could feel and understand the journey you are going through. And yet it was so clear, inspiring and useful what you said. And it was what I needed right now to hear. Also compliments for how conscious and aware you are of your surroundings and processes in your life!
Beautiful video Rachel! Minimizing, decluttering and practicing essentialism have been things I've started to focus on too due to everything going on. So this really hit home!
Love your videos Rachel and your soft voice. I have been making lots of time for crafting and allowing my creative energy to flow through Macrame and Card making 🖤 x
Jeez...this video was nourishment for my soul. It hit so many points that i'm dealing with in my life right now....i really needed to hear this. " a life to enjoy, not an endless to do list to tick off"...phew....glad i found your channel. Ya got an instant sub from me
What perfect time to listen to this 😌 beginning of long weekend here in BrisVegas- with all the craziness I fill my life. I believe I inherited this “work ethic” from my parents. How to slow down? Hhmm what do I actually like? Hhmm and I’m now going back to the office for a few hours and working a second job (even though I’m financially ok) & in the middle of a kitchen reno plus all the daily tasks of mum life! I’ll be listening to this a few more times today. Thanks Rachel 💕💖
I watched your video before work, I’m always stressed going to work, and today after watching your video while I get ready for work I feel so much better. Just to go to work in a calm state. 🙏🏼 Thank you for this video ❤️
Thank you very much Rachael. You inspire me to organise my life and priorities. I loved the tutorial this morning. I’m in Melbourne also so this lockdown is another trying time. Once again thank you for just being you 💜
your chanel is my ultimate favorite so far, i just now started watching and you are amazing, your words are so inspiring, you truly are making a difference in peoples lives, and i can definitely say you’ve made one in mine, thank you so much for these videos, never stop doing what you dk
This video was so healing. For me, I’ve been getting rid of clothes I no longer wear and donate them. I’ve been home so much, a daily declutter sesh is what I’ve been doing at least twice a week. You’ve inspired me to be more minimalistic and somehow having only the things I need and things that make me happy brings my mind peace 💞 By the way, LOVE THE BUNNIES!!!! Wish my bunny would remain that calm when I try to brush him 😅🤣
For the past 7 years i have been sorta fighting my way through life and this resulted in me having a burn-out. So simplifying is what I have been doing. Thank you for this video.✨
Only came across your channel just now. I really needed this. I’m in lockdown with you and have found myself incredibly low and out with all that’s going on. Thanks for this
Rachel, your content is so calming and comforting to me. Your gentle, uncomplicated approach is motivating. Whether you’re sharing food, plants, decor, mental health or pets, it feels organic and natural - never forced. Thank you ❤️ Hugs from Canada ❤️
I used to watch your channel and then I stopped. Your video popped up on my recommended and I got curious so I clicked on it. I really like this new vibe and the mentality you are practicing. I've resubscribed! Looking forward to bingeing on the videos I've missed :)
This came at the perfect time, thank you Rachel!! I’m also in Melbourne and have disconnected from social media recently to have a mental break and recenter myself. I was also a full blown couch potato on the weekend. Not being “productive” usually makes me feel guilty but it was just what I needed. Thanks again for sharing this 🥰💕
Such a beautiful video. I found your channel at the start of working remotely/lockdown here in NY. Watching your videos in the morning (they’re so lovely I've rewatched most of them) has been part of my daily rituals. They're so calming! Your motivation, outlook, and lifestyle are endlessly inspiring
I am a mom of three..l love them dearly but l fight everyday to Not loose myself for everyone else. I changed my life by changing my lifestyle.. I am happier and my family happier too.. Thank you for the lovely video🥰
Hello Rachel. First of all thanks for the suiting, relaxing and inspiring video's you make. May I ask what kind of product you use to clean your plant leaves? They look very healthy and shiny.
Love the sincerity of this video. And you're advice has substance. Thanks for really putting in the time to make beautiful and inspiring videos and sharing them.
This video came at the perfect time for me. I've been thinking about needing a lifestyle "refresh" and this was SUPER helpful. Thank you, as always, for the mental break and fresh start!
Love it! Curious what do you spray your plants with? They seem really healthy - thanks! My hobbies include yoga, working out, playing guitar, and salsa dancing (on hold during pandemic).
Thank you 🤍
Good luck! I hope it really makes you happy 🥺

The "do you even have hobbies anymore ?" part hits me hard
I was recently told by a friend that hobbies are a luxury she cannot afford (she is a single mom).

Oh wow, wild swimming - that sounds fantastic! Where is your favourite place to swim?
Rivers mostly (blessed to live near some beauties) lakes sometimes: sea very rarely. I live in the U.K. and it's the North Sea. Brrrrr!
This message is so important. Thank you for sharing!
I love your wall decor. Everything is so soothing and refreshing.
I so love your house! What a peaceful feeling. Your bunny is adorable. I am also in the road of self discovery and I've been wanting to redefine my life. Hopefully just like you I can finally simplify my life.
Your commitment to being real and creating sustainable, healthy habits never ceases to inspire. You are so lovely, inside and out, Miss Rachel! 💕💕💕

Thank you for sharing this. I was touched by simplicity and sincerity of your sharing. I could feel and understand the journey you are going through. And yet it was so clear, inspiring and useful what you said. And it was what I needed right now to hear. I'm so glad! I hope you are having a nice week.
One of my hobbies is watching your channel and being on the lookout for bunny footage.
I've had a very successful last ten minutes!
Beautiful video Rachel! Minimizing, decluttering and practicing essentialism have been things I've started to focus on too due to everything going on. So this really hit home!
I think this is what we really need during this time.

RACHELLLLLLLLL I LOVE THE REVAMP😍😍😍. Also EXACTLY the kind of content I’ve been searching for !! 🦋🌼✨ Stay positive 🤩
Watching you cook is so relaxing
I watched your video before work, I’m always stressed going to work, and today after watching your video while I get ready for work I feel so much better. Just to go to work in a calm state. 🙏🏼 Thank you for this video ❤️

Thank you very much Rachael. You inspire me to organise my life and priorities. I loved the tutorial this morning. I’m in Melbourne also so this lockdown is another trying time. Once again thank you for just being you 💜

I really like this filming style! Very calming 💜
Very happy I found this youtube channel 😊
This video was so healing. For me, I’ve been getting rid of clothes I no longer wear and donate them. I’ve been home so much, a daily declutter sesh is what I’ve been doing at least twice a week. You’ve inspired me to be more minimalistic and somehow having only the things I need and things that make me happy brings my mind peace 💞 By the way, LOVE THE BUNNIES!!!! Wish my bunny would remain that calm when I try to brush him 😅🤣
I love that you donate them! It's such a great feeling to repurpose them or give them a new home. I hope you are well 🌱
For the past 7 years i have been sorta fighting my way through life and this resulted in me having a burn-out. So simplifying is what I have been doing. Thank you for this video.✨
Thank you for sharing this 🖤
Only came across your channel just now. I really needed this. I’m in lockdown with you and have found myself incredibly low and out with all that’s going on.
Thanks for this
I love the encouragement to live an intentional life.
Rachel, your content is so calming and comforting to me. Your gentle, uncomplicated approach is motivating. Whether you’re sharing food, plants, decor, mental health or pets, it feels organic and natural - never forced. Thank you ❤️ Hugs from Canada ❤️

This came at the perfect time, thank you Rachel!! I’m also in Melbourne and have disconnected from social media recently to have a mental break and recenter myself. I was also a full blown couch potato on the weekend. Not being “productive” usually makes me feel guilty but it was just what I needed. Thanks again for sharing this 🥰💕
I love how the video itself was so simple, yet beautiful. Everything has stuck with me, so thank you so much for this! ❤️
