Literally did this today...and it made my day so much better. Getting things done in a sustainable way makes me feel very successful. Thanks for such beautiful words and an even more beautiful video! 💚
You are my soul sistah ! It took me so long to realize mental listing and multitasking were an energy drain. Plant life really helps me be present in the moment, it made me realize nature has seasons , some of fervent activity and growth, others of dormant rest and so should we ! Be more patient with your own journey and enjoy the small things. But I find myself having to justify actions to friends / family - of not being connected 24/7 or the need to unplug from media for my well being.
Good on you with your journey to slowing down your life, your mind and redefining what success means to you... I’ve been watching your videos for years and I actually remember that period of time when you were exercising 6 days a week, working a lot and not really taking any down time which I viewed you as a highly motivated person but at the same time was a little worried as I remember you mentioning you had trouble turning off I think? My husband is a similar person in that way and has also come to a place of slowly down and accepting life for as it is and for him, to stop chasing the next big thing (work wise). He’s much happier and calmer inside for it!
Thank you for posting! I've been putting off reading my book, it feels like a chore lately, but I'm going to set a 45 min timer each day until I get myself motivated again
Rachellll! I tried this and it worked wonderfully! Thank you so much for this, you have no idea how much you have helped me. I have been in a daze since the fourth lockdown started so this tip is incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for always inspiring me to become organised with my life. You're my fitness and productivity role model. I've learned time-blocking from you and the importance of setting boundaries between work and play. I'm now more mindful of what I eat and make sure I work out regularly. I find that lighting up scented candles (I love Byredo's Cotton Poplin) and playing lo-fi help me work better. Also using Google calendar and an app called Forest helps me limit my screen time while working. I enjoy working from home specially now we're on lockdown again as I can look away from my screen and have a break by watering my plants or cooking lunch, which is always therapeutic for me. Thank you and look forward to more videos like this!
For me, it's the list making. I make lists on lists! I love them! I also feel like clarity comes from distance sometimes. Take a step back, step away from the work, take a walk or maybe watch something on Netflix for an hour or so and then come back to what you're working on with fresh, less tired eyes and mind 🖤
Yes and for me writing things in a list helps me get distance from whatever it is I need to do as it’s written down and I can let go of it until I have time to deal with it, alternatively if I don’t write it down all of it swirls in my head which is overwhelming
This quote from the book Limitless really resonated with me: "Concentration is something you can learn and something you can practice to get better at. However, what most of us practice instead is distraction. We allow our minds to jump from thought to thought, often using technology to help us practice distraction until we´re experts at it - and we should be, because we often get a dozen or more hours of practice a day. Just imagine what it would be like if we practiced concentration for even a fraction of that time."
i relate so much to wanting to put everything into urgent and important even if theyre not actually!! for me it helps having my daily and weekly lists, things that need to get done today and things i need to get done when i have some spare time this week
I think its important to schedule in down time, me time breaks during the day when you are feeling overwhelmed. Often when you start working on something - by knowing you only have to do a short bit and then can take a break, you often feel relief and energy and you end up doing a lot more on your list. Also going outdoors for a walk getting in some movement, breathing in some fresh air and not thinking about your work will often allow your creative side of the brain's juices to work and you will notice more creative ideas start to flow as you feel refreshed. Thank you for being such an inspiration.
Hi Rachel, I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while, and as still a new subscriber to your channel, actually I trust you, and recognize your educated, nutritionist, and wellness coach. Not to mention spiritually you give off good energy. Because you pay attention to your energy well in a way it’s logical, and practical as wellness coach, and nutritionist. Could you do a video on how to build healthy, yet realistic routines? I am not great at them I’m a night owl, and there’s something about the night I appreciate is I get my personal space, and alone time for myself.
I pretty much do exactly what you describe. I'm also self-employed and the to-do list is literally endless, so it's important to break it down and decide what I can do, and finish, today. I can't handle things half-done, so I break it into little tasks that can be done that day.
Love seeing these videos that make life a little bit easier. Looking at your grocery list and nutrition suggestions, I wonder if you could make a video on the logistics of your eating/cooking? Would love to see what it really takes to have eating habits that are as well controlled as yours, because I want to get there someday! Like how often you have to go to the grocery to get fresh fruit and veg, how much time you spend meal prepping, planning, cooking, etc. Thanks for making such great content!
Love the content... Love the tips... most of them are classic yet still very true and helpful up to this day. Thank you so much for this amazing video, Rachel!
I so recognize the problem with the Eisenhower Matrix haha. I have a whole organisation system in place to make sure I am focussed on the tasks at hand, but also so I don't forget the bigger picture. Love Asana and Bring (thank you Rachel for these two), Google calendar, Focus (the app with planting trees), and my note taking app. They all just flow together. Goodluck with the lockdown
I’ve been following you for years and to me you are one of my biggest inspirations! Love and light beautiful thank you for your continuous knowledge 💗✨
Oh I hear ya sista with the "don't forget the milk" gotta go get this or that I have an idea with this for that All the things go round and round so I have different books for different things. 1. ideas (brain demp) 2. shopping 3. cleaning 4. reading. 5. reading the are not in any order and it seems a lot however I don't need all of them all the time just when I feel the overwhelm love this thank you
I do have days when I have that mental clarity but when it isn't like that, I find that taking a emergency break helps a lot. Just breaking the pattern at that moment helps so I don't get overwhelmed with everything I wanted to do so after I've either played the piano, read a book or just sit around with my bunny, I could get back to a task more centered.
Some things that I am doing every day (or at least I am trying to do so): - get outside at least once a day: whether this might be going for a run, going for a walk, maybe just get some groceries or sometimes literally just walking to the mailbox and staying there for 2mins before getting inside the house again, JUST GET SOME FRESH AIR! - I have an app installed on my phone that allows me to block other apps and I am trying to block all my social medias (IG, snapchat, youtube, twitter etc.) and I am only allowed to go through my social medias like 2-3 per day (usually in the morning and in the evening) and I have found that I am way better at focusing and concentrating if I am not able to just fill in my breaks with "mindless scrolling" through social media that is not fullfilling me anyway, like usually I would just open the app and close it again and not even really remember what I have been looking at. - journaling/writing in my diary (I have mine just in a word document but actual books are great as well ofc) at least once a day,!! I tend to write in the morning just to get a clear mind and empyt my thoughts and then once again in the evening to reflect about the day, so I will be able to go to sleep without having too many distracting thoughts in my mind.
I make lists! I rarely use or implement them. I have severe anxiety which I’m struggling to keep in check. I essentially become overwhelmed, freeze...and do nothing - which I internalize as failure. I honestly don’t know how to move past it. 😞
I do the same thing with important tasks. Freeze up and break down. It may only be me, but as a suggestion, I like to talk myself up "it's not as difficult as it seems" "you can do this" "once I do it I'll feel better" Then I sit down and either get started directly on the task or break this daunting task into smaller easier tasks that will help me to get into the right mind frame. Like Rachel said, pick up momentum from the smaller tasks and feel a sense of accomplishment. I know anxiety is not always that simple to work through but I hope in some way this helps or at least knowing you aren't alone. 💕
Yes I dump my things to do etc in lists too. Daily to do list on bench, money spreadsheet and anything I need to add to it I’ll send myself an email titled ‘update spreadsheet’ so I can update later when I have time. I also have a baby file with all my notes, resources and tips I’ve learnt as a mum of one to draw on next time around with baby number two. I started out writing all the tips and things I’ve learnt from becoming a mum in a word document but it got too big that I had to categories it into sections so now I have a baby file in a fold back folder.
This is amazing! Please let me know what helps you with your anxiety and what has helped limit it to panic attacks! I’ve little by little changed my food intake, but I feel like I still get random panic attacks. Thank you for all you do!
Hello. When you find yourself feeling panicky, stop and take a couple of deep breaths and try to notice and think of your 5 senses. For example: "In this moment I notice that..." then think of 1. what your body is feeling/touching, (I feel the solid chair beneath me, the cool breeze on my skin, ) ,2. what you can hear (listen to the sounds around you), 3. what you can smell, 4. what you can taste (maybe its coffee or toothpaste) 5.what you can see . (even with your eyes closed you see some light) Thinking about your 5 senses brings you into the present moment and when you are breathing in for 4 counts and holding it for 2 and breathing out for 4 it will automatically calm your body. Hope it helps. xo
@@Mar-iy8il thank you yes I will try this! I just started struggling with super bad panic attacks that elevate my blood pressure and make me feel dizzy. I get reassured there’s nothing wrong but I am vitamin d deficient so I will start on that to. I just get very depressed especiallyduring my period or before. Sometimes being a woman is very hard, but I’m happy to know there are other people who struggle with this as well. I don’t want to take medications so I want to change my diet plan to help.
@@estephanyv994 You are welcome. I am Vitamin D deficient so do keep up on that. I think breathing and focusing on breathing in and out really helps to calm your nervous system. Also the 5 senses helps you to redirect your thoughts away from the panicky feeling and towards other things and your body calms. I talked myself out of a panic attack on an airplane because I felt anxious all of a sudden, but i put my earphones on and listened to podcast and thought about my 5 senses and it helped me calm right down. Mediation can really help. Watch Donna D'Cruz on TH-cam. She has wonderful inspirational bits and mediations and she is so calming. Good luck!
@@estephanyv994 You are welcome. We all can help one another. I hope it helps! Do let me know if you like Donna's mediations. I started them a few months ago and I love them.
Yass! I truly believe you need down time away from the little and big tube as you put! Definitely going to try your tip being organized and to take a load off my mind and on to some sort of organization tool! Looking amazing as always! 🔥🙌 Looking forward to your next helpful, knowledgeable content! 😎
Lists are my fave way to combat overwhelm! I have them on Asana, Word docs, notes on my phone.. and then of course, on my clients' management systems as well so they can keep track of what I'm up to. Also I feel personally attacked by the 1-2 tabs tip 🤣🤣
I love your content, especially your voice, it is so calming that even if you're talking nonstop I don't seem to mind. What I try to do is every time I am anxious about something or my brain is spiraling with over thinking, I tend to turn on loud music and it seems to take the noise in my head away. I do however have a very short temper and I tend to over eat when I am mad. Need to focus on that, any tips on that would be helpful.
The time it takes still eludes me. I've gotten a few task correctly time-lined, but others I'm still working on. Most of my tasks are 30-45 minutes and I can't look at that list too long or the hours it takes away from everything else gets to me. I pick one or two for each day and that's it.
If i'm really anxious about taking a certain step, for me that would be calling a friend bc I have phone anxiety, I just think to myself 'i don't háve to do this, but what could happen if I did? What are the best outcomes that this action could have?' That helps me to not feel forced to do it but instead feel positively hopeful about doing it.
Thank you Rachel. Just what I needed to start my morning.! Yep I list everything! Sometimes even writing things I have done just so I can tick them off 🤪 When you have anxiety and OCD everything feels important 🤔Love from NSW 🇦🇺
@@RachelAust I shift between the two but I prefer hand written as I am a primary school teacher and have the list in my planner. For home/personal related things I have a list on my phone and for cleaning/house to do’s I have a checklist on google keep 🙂 There is something very satisfying about ticking things off by hand!
My brain used to always be in fight or flight and I got really sick. I did something called the Lightning Process by Phil Parker and I feel like I can control my emotions at any moment, it's freakin crazy
the best way when i over think is play music or watch a movie or play a game or the very best is swim or just in the swimming pool where you can locked the background noise's . by Layla Gunslinger

I started out writing all the tips and things I’ve learnt from becoming a mum in a word document but it got too big that I had to categories it into sections so now I have a baby file in a fold back folder.
I'm really liking your content lately
Love!
Good luck!
@@Mar-iy8il thank you that gives me a lot of hope! I appreciate your time ! Your amazing! 🙏🏻🤍
@@estephanyv994 You are welcome. We all can help one another. I hope it helps! Do let me know if you like Donna's mediations. I started them a few months ago and I love them.
Thanks for another amazing video, Rachel! I feel like I really needed to hear this today. I hope you're doing well 🌻
Thank you Rachel ❤
I love your content, especially your voice, it is so calming that even if you're talking nonstop I don't seem to mind. What I try to do is every time I am anxious about something or my brain is spiraling with over thinking, I tend to turn on loud music and it seems to take the noise in my head away. I do however have a very short temper and I tend to over eat when I am mad. Need to focus on that, any tips on that would be helpful.
I found my corner of youtube ! xo
May I ask where you get your laptop stand from? Your videos are getting better and better.
Thank you so so much for this video....these tips. But please please please make a video on your makeup. Please 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Rachel. Just what I needed to start my morning.! Yep I list everything! Sometimes even writing things I have done just so I can tick them off 🤪
When you have anxiety and OCD everything feels important 🤔Love from NSW 🇦🇺
Love a good list haha. Do you like digital too or prefer pen/paper?
+1 with writing tasks I've done only to tick them off. Feels great and like celebrating wins.
@@RachelAust I shift between the two but I prefer hand written as I am a primary school teacher and have the list in my planner. For home/personal related things I have a list on my phone and for cleaning/house to do’s I have a checklist on google keep 🙂
There is something very satisfying about ticking things off by hand!
My brain used to always be in fight or flight and I got really sick. I did something called the Lightning Process by Phil Parker and I feel like I can control my emotions at any moment, it's freakin crazy
Briefly, how does that work?
Love this❤️❤️
what todo list app do you use? that one in the vid looked super cool
What’s the lists app? With the blocks where she as adding zucchini at 1:55

What is the name of the type of tattoos you have? They are so different. Luv this channel

Hey @rachelaust, you did a video a few months ago where you listed your favourite spice mixes that you have made up for ease with cooking. I really want to do the same, but can’t work out which vid it’s in! Please help! 🙏🏻
Relationship issues give me anxiety
Rachel, I find it incredibly hard to believe you’d be multitasking while watching the Hobbit! 😝😄
😂😂
It had been a while since I watched one of her videos. Did she change her voice???? Where's the thick accent that characterized her?
I think her voice is the same??
@@AmeZakiri Ok, maybe it's just me, then...
noo, I agree. Her voice is more soft in this video (haven’t watched her other new ones). I guess she had some intonation training, possibly just through practice by doing these videos :)
@@hello70304 You're right, she's had a lot of practice by now... Also, we all change, it's just that I liked her unique former tone..
Also Islam ☪️... bc we are connect to The Gold in the sky .. we ask him anything we wanted or we afraid from it
Hiiii, Rach! 🤗🤗🌿
