I have my original Sony P-S 3300 direct drive turntable,Kenwood 4600 amp receiver with pioneer project 100A speakers from 1975 , it’s all about 45yrs old an in great condition, went to Goodwill looking for really nothing in particular when I found a BSR 12 band per channel graphic equalizer $15.00 , it upgraded my system to unbelievable sound reproduction, you can never beat that 70s audio equipment!!!!

It's unbelievable the deals that you can find at flea markets / discount stores. I have a friend that was looking around at a local flea market (what's with the flea thing) and found a Bob Carver CD player, complete with remote AND an additional remote, brand new in the box for $15. He sold the new remote on eBay for $158. AND he sold the CD player with remote for almost $800. You can't go wrong at sales. There is a treasure in every bunch. He brought it over to my house just after purchasing the deal, hooking it up to my kitchen system, ran the CD player through all of it's functions, and we declared it a winner. A once in a life time find.

The Technics SA1000 receiver is the worlds most powerful vintage receiver at 330 watts per channel which i found at a thrift store in Tampa, Fla. about 20 years ago for $75. Monster receiver and very heavy, it took 2 of us to carry it out store.

You got a heck of a deal. I don't know how much they cost new, but I remember back in the day the sx 1980 by Pioneer (which I love) got most of the attention, and then I saw this beast from Technics. I have had several Technics components and have been very pleased with their performance. Dang, I bet that thing weighed 100 lbs.

You absolutely scored with these two finds, Congrats. The JVC amp is a fantastic old school JVC unit. I have one as my backup unit in my home office and it sounds great. That Project One deck is sweet. Nice job showing them a little love, they'll give it back in spades. Great video.

Nice finds! Reminds me of the Hafler DH220 amp I found at a thrift store for $100. I plugged it in and it didn't work in the store but I knew amps from the 80's almost always have a blown fuse or two. Replaced 5 fuses for about $1.00 each and SHAZAM!

I bought the Tandberg trio of the 3001A tuner (the big one, new about $2,000). 3002A preamp. 3003A power amp. Mint condition, cosmetic and function. Bought from work mate for $200 total. He knew the value, because he bought new retail, but wanted to get rid of them. He said he never was big on music. My buddy's dad fixed the tuner. Had problems with presets. It was a big job.

Great finds. I used to sell Project One. It was the house brand of mid west audio retailer Playback Electronics in the 70's. Some of the stuff was made by Pioneer and looked great cosmetically though the specifications were never quite up to snuff with the name brands. Having said that most folks couldn't hear or appreciate the difference anyway and the price was right. Nice stuff in any case. I'd love to have one of their receivers for old time sake. Thanks for the great video.

The receiver is pretty cool, same with the turntable. On the other hand, I'm 99% certain the Fisher speakers were parted out from a "rack" system, so those really don't do anything for me. If they work though you could easily turn around and garage sale them for $20, so still a winner. Nice work.

About 15 years ago i found a Technics SA 1000 receiver in a thrift store in Tampa Florida for $75. Most powerful receiver ever made at 330 wpc. Took two of us to carry the monster out of the store. Worked great for about a year and then it broke... took it to two stereo repair shops but they couldnt get the parts for it.. ended up selling it as is for $50.

I actually picked up a Zenith IS-4090 vintage stereo console with two Zenith Allegro speakers at a Mennonite auction for 5 bucks. I use it for decoration something went with the balance that unfortunately screwed up the sound. Tape player doesn't work either. But for 5 bucks with the radio and record player functional it's still a good conversation piece

I found a pair of Fisher STV 884's 15" 3 way 110 watts max, Fisher CD player model AD-870 and a Kenwood stereo receiver that was rated at 100 watts (not sure the model because I gave it away 2 years ago ) I paid $20 for them at a rummage sale. I also have my parents stereo system. It was all Pioneer. Receiver Pioneer VSX-402, dual cassette deck CT-W403R and a Laser Disk/CD player model CLD-S350 plus the speakers more Pioneer CS-M551's 3 way 150 watt max. It all sounds and plays good. The only down fall is they are the BLACK metal/plastic stuff. Oh well. You have a great find here guy!!! Keep looking!!

@TwinMillMC The speakers are 8 ohm.I have the system set up now with the JCPenney turntable and it sounds great. Thanks for the info.I think they had not tested the JVC;Probably why they priced it to move.P.S. i stopped back there the day after and both the "compact" systems were gone.

Hey, nice haul. The Fisher speakers ain't the greatest but it all seems to "gel" quite nicely. I'm still using a Shure M95HE cartridge on my Pioneer PL-518 turntable, with Ohm Acoustics model L speakers and Hitachi SR-804 receiver. All original purchases by me in the 1970's/80's. Can't knock vintage components.

I bought four Kenwood KL-777A speakers for $25 each from a co-worker. Wicked speakers, as good or better than equivalent speakers from Sansui and Pioneer of the same era, mid seventies. The Dishnet guy was at my house installing. He lusted after them. Since I only needed two (I hate surround sound, old quadraphonic or modern audio/video receivers). I asked him if he wanted to buy two and he jumped at them for $200 for both.

And I thought I got a good deal! I paid 59.00 for my fisher fm-120 receiver with matching amp and tape player. I found mine at a buy/sell/trade store that i've been going to for almost 10 years. I start talking to the owner about vinyl etc. He takes me to the back room which turns out housed his own crazy collection of vintage turntables and receivers hooked up and working. He just sold me my stuff just to be nice and I think he appreciated my interest. The room was larger than his actual sales floor. It's seemed like he planned on selling the stuff, but just can't let them go.

That Project/One turntable is actually a Pioneer I believe. Very nice turntable indeed. That JVC Receiver is beautiful as well - very HQ stuff you found for an awesome price. The only deficit in this system is the Fisher speakers. They were mid-fi, part of one of those low cost rack systems from the 80's. Check the ohm rating of them, I doubt they're 100 watts @ 8 ohms, maybe 4. Don't know if I would push those to 100 watts even if they say 8. C my latest video if u like vintage gear... cheers!

The Project One turntable is made by Pioneer. That JVC is a real nice Receiver. $8.00? WOW! I wish I could have found one at that price when I was 12 back in the 70's. Those Fisher speakers aren't that great though. Those were sold as part of those cheap "rack" systems from the 80's. Check the ohm rating on them. They might be 100 watts @ 4 or 6 ohms, that doesn't translate well with a 100 watt @ 8 ohms Receiver. You'll fry them.

CEC built for Marantz,Hitachi and others.I have the Lab,quite a good belt drive, solid build and quiet. The antiskate can be fiddly, you have to work with it to dial in the best soud.

  • @bbigjohnson069
    @bbigjohnson069 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Your receiver looks a lot like a Kenwood I bought back in 1980, except my 3 push buttons were round. Everything else nearly the same. Coloring on the dial was a tad different. My stepdad gave me $200 and said go buy something. Went to "The Federated Group Group the stereo people who do more than you're asking for." How did I remember their jingle? I want to say KR-4000 or something like that. Might have been reman. I think it was only 14W per channel. Then I got a Technics SLB1 Turntable maybe $70-$80 ? Still have it and a Audiotechnica Cartridge. That alone was $50-$60. I must have spent some of my own money too because the receiver was at least $100. But it blasted pretty good with these old 8 inch woofers and 3"-4" cone for a mid/tweet. When I saw that Decca label I thought, "I bet that's a Who record." Bingo.

Shure V-15 was a kick-ass cartridge. I had one installed in a JVC QL-75. Shure just recently stopped making cartridges all together. Shame.

TH-cam is the biggest reason behind the vintage stuff price explosion nowadays. No more good deals.

Richard Golden-DeWitt How do you know this? Are you friends with one or more of the employees? Is the store manager aware of this? Sad case if this is true.

As long as people are bragging about the "find" of the decade, a few years ago I'm walking through a giant tent sale and stumble on a Pioneer spec 1 and spec 2 pair. The tag says $20 each. I don't really need them and I didn't have a good use for them at the time but my brain said to buy the pair because they'd be worth more together. The amp (like 300 watts per channel) must weigh 40 pounds and sounded like crap. (all distorted) I started poking around and noticed all of the board connections were press-fit and not soldered so I figured, WTF... and ran a hot iron on the ones I could reach. Presto! Had it for 10 years now and that old baby honks! The pre-amp is another story. Still have it but never figured out what was wrong.... BUT... I still have the pair and if I ever sell, I still have the matching pair that someone else can take a stab at. The biggest drawback to most vintage stuff is they don't have enough inputs for tape, CD, and extra aux equipment. (and you know us geeks have those items) The only exception seems to be early Dynaco pre-amps, which came with phono, tuner, tape, aux, and mic (could be wired different) inputs, in addition to tape monitor.
