That's a cool receiver. It looks like that phono selector switch gives you the capability of using a moving coil phono cartridge. I never knew they made one that way. I have an older model Yamaha CR-440 and I do really like the way it sounds. Great find.
Great score Scott! That's a really unique receiver, love all the extra bells and whistles. Glad you showed it off. I always say that if you can hear any kind of difference in soundstage once YT gets done mangling the audio, it must sound amazing in person. That's a smart 50 right there. Enjoy it. - Lj
Thanks for the post. Great find! Easily worth ten times what you paid! Bought my first one new back in the day and it is still my favorite receiver - still hooked to ADS L-710's and a B&O tangential tracking turntable. It's hard to imagine getting cleaner sound or more for the money even at the original list price. If it ever dies, I will go on eBay and likely pay whatever I need to pay to replace it. ENJOY! btw - I love the Sennheisers too!
I never had too much experience with Yamaha sound equipment, until I picked up a second hand cassette deck,at a local shop, that I hit once a week..... And for $20 It's the best cassette deck,I've ever had.
Cool Yammie receiver! I've never seen a Yamaha with the stereo enhancement. Realistic used to put those on some of their receivers and equalizers back in the 80's.
I read back in the 70's, companies like Pioneer and Kenwood (and others) sold "reverb amps" as accessories to the main amplifier. I believe they were adjustable spring reverb boxes and probably ate up a lot of room and weighed a lot.
Yo you won’t believe I got a Yamaha natural sound RX-V596 From Goodwill thrift store there’s nothing wrong with it it was works perfect I got this whole thing you won’t believe me if I told you for $8.50 yes for real in Phoenix Arizona I love this amplifier it sounds so damn good the only thing it’s missing is a remote control everything works perfect and it’s beautiful and everybody that knows about Yamaha they build the best stereo systems and this is Dolby digital DTS surroundsound hooked up to my Bose acoustic mass subwoofer with the small swivel Bose speakers it sounds so freaking good I hooked it up to my PS4 Pro and my Xbox one and my PS5 and hooked it up to my TV I was watching NASCAR with the surroundsound Whaaa i’m blown away it sounds freaking good so freaking good and I’ve been watching top gun Maverick on my Yamaha monster sound system it sounds really good
Nice receiver! I got my eye on a CR-820 but the price is a little high they are asking 150 bucks and it's missing two of the knobs. It has a wood top cover.
Another super score. Interesting speaker wire connectors. I need to replace my headphones too. I've been using Sony's forever and want to try something new. Did guitar center have a demo setup for headphones?
i love these old amps, i had one of the first ones with Q-Vox it was like 70's surround sound. that thing kicked ass. so powerful.
Really good find, you always have good luck in finding vintage stereo equipment. Nice to see this new video, we have not heard from you in a while:)
Awesome find !!! I wish I could find a killer receiver ... Love your technics turntable ... You have a lot of cool things !!

This was used back then as the modern day HTS as the Spatial knob was a dead give away to today Surround Sound.... Maybe early ti mid 80's design.

Got one from thrift store $19 & sold it for $100
serious audiophiles dont buy 40 year old Yamaha receivers for 50 bucks at good will...
Sounds like serious audiophiles can't spot an obvious bargain.
