- "Who should I pull?" In Honkai: Star Rail version 2.1 we will have Acheron and Aventurine being introduced as new characters, as well as Jingliu and Luocha having reruns. All of these characters are strong and making a decision can be hard for new players and F2Ps. This video is a general guide, where I share my mindset when it comes to pulling and making decisions from multiple perspectives, including my thoughts on the 2.1 banners towards the end.

Only thing I would add: I’ve realized that Honkai Star Rail gives quite a few opportunities to enjoy characters that I haven’t pulled. There are story segments where I can use them temporarily, there are lots of special events that give fully built trial versions of many characters, I can use them as supports if other players set them up, and they’ll be involved in the story so we can interact outside of gameplay.
So if there are characters I really like but don’t enjoy the gameplay of, or don’t want to go to the effort of remaking my account to support them, I can decide that I’m ok with not “owning” them in the banner-pulling sense but still enjoying that character in the game. Acheron is the prime example of this for me right now.
I solved this problem by pulling all of them.
In all seriousness I only pull characters I like even if they suck. Id rather play and suck with characters I like than steamroll through the game with units I don't like. But if I had a main it has to be a supporter or a buffer cause they empower my main(s) DPS depending on what team I'm running at the time so like Lynx or Sparkle or that future seeing pink gremlin (Sparkle especially cause QQ does DISGUSTING amounts of DMG now with Sparkle on the team (mono quantum) 😭😭😭😭 she's also really good for my Jinglu/DILF/Lynx team cause of her crit DMG boost. I switch support and buffersand needed between teams based on what end game content I'm trying to beat. TLDR: Support characters make the world go round.

Blade is that one character that pull me into the game. Like ever since beta, I told myself "That's the character I want to main!" Then, after getting to know his backstory, it just makes me love him more and wanting to get the very best thing for him.
But yeah, I understand the one where you explains about the appearance. I like Topaz but damn, gurl. You're showing a lot of a business woman. I guess it's one of the strategies by winning with her thighs xD. I don't hate it but something about her outfit just seems wrong yet I shouldn't be surprised.
For my pulls, I always ask myself. Do I really love them until I can't skip them? Then, I'll pull. For supports, if it's someone who can boost my team a lot, then yes, I'll get them. Somehow Sparkles is the first support I pulled xD and Luocha is the first healer. So I skipped HuoHuo and Ruan Mei. I like HuoHuo in the end but I felt like I don't really need her? But I might pull her in the future.
yeah true, topaz has that little red ribbon on her hip... and Im like 95% sure that has to be her underwear, unless she isnt wearing any or it is a REALLY high cut V type dealio
tbh I want her as a unit to go with ratio, but I dont really like her as a character so... same with ruan mei, shes super strong but I really hate her after the cat quest
@@cookies23z If there's one thing I love about Topaz is her love for animals. The clothes, well, I get it thick thighs xD, I saw a lot of people just want her to crush them with them. Plus, the fact I love how simple her kit is. I might get her after getting Aventurine.
I feel you about Ruan Mei. But if I can get over the hatred for her, maybe I'll pull her just for the sake of boosting my team. But I can't promise myself that much in the end since HSR has a lot of chars I like.

i also use the same "let the game decide for you" except on characters i absolutely cannot skip, im more of a simp than meta but i also need the jades
I paused the video when you told me to so I could comment. Personally I'm roughly a 60/40 split of meta/character. So I lean towards meta slightly, but I have pulled particular characters without regard to meta before.
To give an example from anther hoyo game (since I'm newer to Star Rail so don't have examples yet) I pulled Yoimiya cause she's awesome, even if she isn't a top tier meta character, she does her job well enough and I'm able to clear spiral abyss with her usually with minimal trouble. Someone like Dehya I didn't pull because even though she was a great character, her kit was just too weak for me. However now that I'm further in the game I wouldn't mind losing a 50/50 to Dehya as my teams are built up enough where meta doesn't matter as much (still maters to me, just not as much)
Yoimiya is such a cool character design and personality wise! As for gameplay, I was tempted to get her on the recent rerun so I could have an easier time farming specters.. That material is the only thing keeping me from triple crowning Chiori right now 😭
@@Nuttyjuice01 Those specters are so evil but you having Chiori makes you all the better! So it can offset the missing of Yoi. Want Chiori badly but need to save for Nilou + her weapon. I spend a little in Star Rail but I'm trying to stay F2P with Genshin

Your levelheadedness is something i’ve been searching for in this sea of hsr content creators, so thank you for that:) I’m the type on the spectrum who pulls for who they like but also optimises the heck out of their resources. So rn I’m staying strong to wait and pull for Jingliu and her lc, and Acheron is only appealing to me because of her technique… which is a big bait for me, but i’m only willing to take it on her rerun

I'm in the exact same situation. I am fairly new and don't have a limited DPS and really want Jingliu but Acheron's technique is crazy! Staying strong for Jingliu though because I don't actually like Acheron.

Stumbled across your videos just a few days ago, really liking the content and down to earth talking style. Just wanted to give my 5 cents as a low spender (only getting the jades from the daily login thing for cash):
For me it is about maxing the F2P potential (still going to call it F2P). I always saw the challenge in making the most out of the ressources I could acquire by just playing the game. So this means for me the priority lies straight in gaining every jade there is to get by doing hard content and getting better things.
I want to point out one important thing though: Jades and Trailblaze power (TBP) are parallel ressources. So I can spend all my TBP (daily) on upgrading the characters I have. Be it farming their trace materials or later on the relics. I just wanted to point that out because just to "focus on a few characters to get you somewhere" does not mean you can't pull for other characters, because it literally does not change your capabilities of developing your focus characters.
I think your approach of setting goals and expectations in this game is a really good one. As I said, my goal is to get every F2P Jade there is and manage those in a way that I can get most of what I want. Though I have to admit I was maybe a bit too focused on "New character gets the most benefit of the MoC mode so I need him for 36*" when in reality, getting 36* in MoC would have been attainable with what I had (out of the limited 5* only missing Topaz, Huohuo and Jing Yuan)
The only point where this take doesn't hold is considering lightcones. Because I was focused on pulling characters more to have all tools rather than sharpen them, I only got one sig LC. So if anyone wants to point out you can spend jades to get sig LC instead of pulling all characters, fair game.
In the end: Pull what you like, don't destroy the game for yourself by worrying too much or overspending and making it mundane.

Damn your early game story is just like me frfr . I skipped damn near everyone I pulled Silver Wolf and Fu Xuan and didn't pull any DPS units. I was going to skip Jingliu too but I did 1 ten pull and got her and then said fuck it and pulled on her light cone and got it too. Had no Tingyun or Bronya and had to make that bitch work via magic and build a whole new set of units.

I really like my characters to be flashy/cool. When Acheron released I still wasn't set on my first team, so she was a no-brainer for me. And now Jingliu will get her rerun. I hope I will be lucky with her pulls. That would be two really cool AND strong characters back to back, who also don't compete for team members too much.
Saw acherons' design and loved it so much i decided to download the game. And now i got her and her LC Dont need meta rn so i am happy getting charekters i like design wise.
As a dayone player that skipped all limited units untit kafka's first banner, i agree with all you said. I was also able to clear all the content regardless, also i got bailu e1 and welt's weapon as the only fivestars on first months, so i actually did not have any 5 star dps or subdps on my account for months
I haven't watched yet, but I have this general rule for pulling. Think what teams would the characters you are pulling for would fit in. If you already have 2 complete teams, then go for E2S1 your existing 5 stars. Quality over quantity. If your team can still use another 5 star, then pull for them. This last point is the most important especially if you are pulling your first copy. Do not pull unless you know you have enough pulls to guarantee that 5 star that you want, which means 180 pulls including pity for the worst case scenario. Just to avoid disappointment. Anyway these are just my opinion, anyone can spend their resources however they like.
for a game like star rail where you need/prefer certain type weakness, certain playstyle(like follow up chars in some pure fiction stages), diversity will be better. Just 2 teams won't be enough in star rail.
I got Kafka as my first limited 5* because she was fun to play in the event, and since then I haven’t pulled a single DPS =‘) unless Black Swan counts. Thank goodness for QQ and Ratio, because I just can’t get excited about the DPSes the way I do about, for example, Fu Xuan or Silver Wolf or Aventurine. Even the ones I would want eventually, like Blade, I’m concerned to aim for due to powercreep.
I was on and off the game because was committed to Genshin. But now that I am caught and did pretty much what I wanted to do. I am committed to playing Honkai Star Rail. I had no idea who the f*** Jin was or Black Swan but I pulled them because why not, they look cool lol. And I do not regret a thing!

I think for me, there isnt a spectrum of 2 things (meta into waifu/aesthetics) but there is multiple extra metrics (tbf you mentioned it in the video too)
Meta value, how strong the character is in a vacuum
Account value, how strong the character is for your account in specific, IE, if you have seele as your fav dps, you have sparkle and fu xuan, but are missing silverwolf, silverwolf gets a big boost since it completes mono-quantum team and if that holds value for you (and I think it should to some extent)
Aesthetics/waifu value, how much their looks/animations/personality get you going/keep you interested, this can be split into the subcategories, after all I like the aesthetics of ruan mei, shes hot, but personality wise I hate her guts, the deadbeat mom and awful person who will drug you...
and finally, the simplicity value, basically how little effort it takes to make the character useful. 4 stars naturally cost less resources to max, some characters like jingliu have a bunch of free crit stats that help you out, some supports like bronya/sparkle can be very useful with just a pair of speed boots substats be damned, and finally healers generally take less work to do their job then maximizing a dps
(and 5th is how much money you can afford to burn, mentally and financially)

"look at your hand" facts, I started for sparkle, I got lucky with a miss on 50/50 to bronya on my way to c2 (I stopped at c1, when she is rerun ill finish that c2) I got clara from the 50, I got a welt luckily on standard (after I got his light cone first) and I love him, he was my main dps
I saved the rest of my pulls, I top up and knew it reset, I got acheron e2s1 and have been having a blast with her/welt/gallagher/fireMC I had farmed up the resources for them to 70/70lc and talents 7 each, since I wasnt 60 at the time, now im 60 and the spare from farming let me get them up to 71 (I dont have xp books now) and it feels super fkn nice to use a team of characters I like, Im glad I get to use welt since other then sparkle he was one of the characters I wanted before even starting playing.

there are characters I like the look and feel of (jing yuan, jingliu) but dont really *want* them, I use some peoples supports of them and its fun enough, but not really making me go "shiiit I want this character" I might get blade next, that "unlimited bladeworks" comp seems fun, I have sparkle and bronya that arent being used right now (I know I could give one to acheron team and it would work really well) I also built tingyun while doing the story and catching up, so there is another good unit im not using... idk I know my account is missing some key pieces, and it makes me hesitate on who to save for next, if anyone...
wanting to pull for strength versus character/aesthetic, there are a few units that are so bad character wise, that I dislike them despite aesthetics/power, like I want to use ratio, altho he is left at 69/70 rn because ive put my resources into prefarming stuff for acheron, and doing the debuff arti-set for acheron/welt with any leftover pieces being fine for sampo/ratio who I was also using, but anyways, ruan mei as strong as she is... I hate her after the cat quest, deadbeat mom who creates life then ditches it, drugs mc, awful person... I also dislike topaz despite wanting to pair her with ratio... oh well
cult quantum here. fu xuan is goddess of my existence. sparkle, silver wolf, xueyi live to serve. so these are the only banners i pull on. (my qq is already e6).

I think it’s good u skipped seele honestly, I pulled her in 1.0 and after coming back to HSR in 2.0 and getting Qingque to e6 - I genuinely regret pulling seele, she needs so much investment to actually become useful in endgame content
To me I somehow pulled a harem for Dr Ratio as a f2p… Let me explain. The roster consists of (in order): Kafka, Fu Xuan, Jingliu, Silver Wolf (rerun), Ruan Mei, Black Swan, and Acheron.
Kafka: I played for like the first week of the game and took a break for the previous updates and needed a dps. Kafka opened a whole new different play style as well as looking hella cool so I got her.
Fu Xuan: this is where u really started to get into the game again. I needed a sustain and just love her design and aesthetic, her ult just sealed the deal
Jingliu: I needed another damage dealer and her animations are really sick
Silver Wolf: She’s a gamer girl, AND A NIHILITY. Since I missed her original banner and wasn’t really interested in the other characters I got her.
Ruan Mei: She gives your team break efficiency outside of SU (one of the best blessings imo) and her buffs are based on her own turn which just sounds amazing regardless. Plus she’s super pretty so win-win
Black Swan: Nihility Supremacy (gotta catch ‘em all)
Acheron: So sad I had to skip Sparkle (love the masked fools, but no jades) for her but GODDAMN THOSE ANIMATIONS. I feel so powerful every time I use her ult
Now I’m wanting to get Aventurine because I feel morally inclined to after that emotional damage, and I want another more reliable sustain for the other side of MOC (if need be). Plus his whole “Nah I’d Win” mindset is a big W since I like the more silly guys (Sampo is mah favorite boi. I love Dr Ratio, Argenti, Sparkle, Herta, Silver Wolf, and Qingque as well) and I want to balance the ratio of men to women in my account. Boothill is also another character I would like to pull since he’s a silly feller and is also hot.
TLDR: This is my justification for pulling a lot of female characters as a straight female. It’s mostly on how I liked the character as well as how they worked, and they all happened to be meta women lol. Thanks for reading my TedTalk

It takes a longer time but what I’m doing is pulling characters that make the game easier then later on (2nd rerun) I’ll start pulling for the characters I find the most fun so I can build them right and still enjoy beating the game
Fu xuan is what got me into HSR! After being a kokomi main I knew from FXs leaks I had to start playing the game and maining her! Never regret but now I’m addicted to the game 😅😂
Welt trolled my ass on Black Swan pulls making me happy when i saw nihility the grandpa came and slapped me with a cookie. Simply put... He coudnt walk anymore so he didnt interrupt my Acheron pulls this time around... All the mommies are home.
Besides i was skipping Acheron until i heard about her tech. I get to overworld farm so hard its amazing.
Kafka and Swan and in general the dot playstyle is the reason i got invested into the dot playstyle. Unironicly i dont like the Destruction cast at all.
The only character i pulled purely for meta was Fu Xuan (needed a second powerful defense unit for 2nd team) and Acheron ONLY cause of her tech. I already have a good crit team and my first team was already dot mommies comp so second team never sapped my units. But i love overwolrd farming and leveling units. Giving me more options. Some 4 stars are still amazing (Pela, Break Luka etc.)
Selee(loved resets but i dislike her personality she was mostly a cool gameplay pull to help me early on and she is still useful i dont plan on ditching her)
Kafka (dot foundation and probably my main got her LC too) ,
Luocha (Otto lover),
Fu xuan(meta need tank),
Ruan mei (dot buffs and she is hot also very cool lore), (Ratio... Well i got him for free else i was skipping him so i got away like a bandit, he has a really cool personality),
Swan (dot mommy so no question i get her, she is hot and a dotter like 10/10 just like Kafka),
Acheron (she helps me with my farming passion her power is just a bonus)
So i would consider myself a meta until i dont need to. So now i just save until 3.0 and will skip any new banners and maybe pull on their reruns when they come around for new units.
My account is pretty much cracked. Id say i planned it amazingly compared to other day oners (i didnt go for any Eidolons)

I usually pull for account value, and usually on first run. Pulled for JL, because I've joined in 1.4 and I needed a good DPS. Pulled for HuoHuo because I needed a second healer beside lynx( didn't build Natasha at all). Pulled for RM because it's a very good support. Got lucky with Kafka, but I've only pulled for her because I knew it will have good synergy with BS and future DoT. At that point, got 2 archetypes and 1 team for each. Hypercarry JL and DoT. I got Sparkle for a quantum team alongside QQ and Lynx (no SW unfortunately ). I've got Acheron, gonna mix and match with DoT, so DoT'Cheron. Gonna get Aventurine for DoT'Cheron and FUA. Only need Topaz to finish FUA too. After this I need to focus on farming for better artifacts for my already many characters. I also have a few 4 stars maxed that I use (Tingyuan, QQ, Pela), and some that still need to be leveled but are already E6( Gunaifen, Xueyi, sampo). Of course i have Yanqing, (not level, not gonna for s while) Bronya built, Himeko built, welt e1 built, Gepard not build yet, but planning too. There's one single element I don't have it covered at all, physical. But maybe I'll get a Clara in the near future. Have some good 5* LC, RM, BS, Acheron. Got from shop for Bronya ,Himeko, Welt, planning to get for Gepard. For a while I won't pull for new characters. Topaz will be last. I'll go for RM E1 on rerun, and sparkle LC on rerun.

i think 1.3 and 1.4 gave the most freedom on who to pull for a dps like 1.3 we the dragon boy dhil and 1.4 we have the the cray ice lady jingliu it just shows hoyo gives you a choice on who to pull bcs from what we see now theyre both top tier dps characters you just pick who do you want more (also happens with the rerun banners ini 2.0 and 2.1)

I feel like im definitely purely aesthetic.. But once i pull the character then i try to min max their build.. It was so tough pulling blade and not having a good light cone for him so i got the light cone for easier build u3u i love kafka so i got her the first banner she dropped and i love ruan mei so i got her too.. Got black swan and now i got acheron (lost 50/50 so struggling to get enough for her light cone).. Maybe i can try for cowboy beep bop man and dead bird they look rad but i really want Sam :3
It's wild that everyone just assumes that players not only have these good harmony units, but that they're built too. If you acknowledge that it's just as likely that the RNG have you more nihilty or no good DPS other than them then it's not a stretch to think people have nihilty characters built already and you literally just need 2. Going through the early game, I pretty much only had my welt and silver wolf for DMG, so I built them and some free hunt units to get to end game. Tingyun was like 4month in and bronya 6, so I was brute forcing most of the game. Lol I'm just saying that it's weird to say f2p friendly means slotting into the same 2 harmony unit teams people use for MOC. Many of us have multiple built units after a year and even my f2p side account that's 2 weeks old has Pela & Guin just from free standard pulls. Building from the start like this and playing early with Acheron will be no more sweaty than skipping her and rolling with dr ratio/Dan Heng as my DPS 🤷🏾♂️ (I snagged a Clara and hanya in my standard pulls, but I'm not going to use them in end game MOC runs)
I pull for every single character because I want them all 😊
waifu to meta is just part of the fun to meta spectrum imo, between acheron and jingliu i chose acheron just cause she is different, for jl i would just substitute dhil for her in my teams when i need her
i pulled kafka for the same reason
I made this easy by choosing nihility as my path the moment I saw Kafka in the tutorial lol. I’ve only pulled on nihility 5 stars and supports like fu xuan and sparkle. I did lose the 50/50 on SW. now I’m just waiting on a nihility solo sustain.
I tend to lean into
go for the husbando/waifu → see what team archetype they want to be played → get the supports they want and work around that.
Because, even if they're not "meta" played in MoC or PF, there's some satisfaction in seeing them shining
Ultimately, I chose Sparkle coz i am a QQ main since 1.0 and skipped Seele.
And she is basically the "Avatar" of team comps.
Since she can be used anywhere and make them work better like Dual DPS, Followups, Mono Quantum and Bronya + Hypercarry teams.
I based my decisions whether they could provide me new ways to build and use different characters in many teamcomps. Enablers etc.
Fomo was getting to me, so I did as you said and flipped a coin. Even Lady Fortune thinks I should have Luocha it seems, as I'm full on damage dealers for every occasion: got Jingliu+S1, Ratio+Topaz team, Argenti, Clara E1, Kafka S1+Swan, my Physical Trailblazer ult does 200k+ damage on average as I really like the character and invested time in her. And I have enough supports to skip Sparkle. Let's just hope Lady Fortune wants it enough dor me to win 50/50. P. S. F2P + the monthly supply pass. And just tried Aventurine in quest - not my thing at all, and already have a well built Gepard for all the shielding needs.

I feel like I’m one of the few people that pulls based on artifacts/relics. If I have a good set of something I pull the character that works best for it. But sometimes there’s characters I love simply because they serve and boost my dopamine levels. So I build good characters with good relics so I can use the resources they give me to pull for characters I know won’t be the strongest but I just love. It has to be a balance imo
Essay time. For the future me and everyone else who becomes tempted by “must pull” mentality.
Coming from E7 who didn’t necessarily care for PVP, I found that I just love a good story. Though I love a challenge and would like to clear content, as long as I can enjoy a story too unhindered (ie can’t beat story’s final boss without cracked meta team), I’m satisfied with whatever. E7’s PVE is horrific because they focus on PVP, so I’m glad I finally discovered HSR.
I saw a guy with a lvl 70 HSR account who NEVER pulled on ANYTHING, NOT EVEN THE 50 STANDARD PULL FOR GARUNTEE 5 STAR.

I’m assuming he’s cleared most (who knows about all) content in the game, but even if not, he was at the latest story point at the time, and that’s good enough for me. So to me, anything that’ll let you enjoy the game and clear story is “meta.”
With that said, first, E7 has SO many different bosses with so many different rules: bosses that’ll strip your buffs and ignore effect resistance so shields and harmony-like units were nigh useless, bosses that buff themselves whenever you heal so heals are questionable, bosses that’ll cleanse and buff themselves if they ever had 3 or more debuffs so RIP Acheron and nihility, etc. The first thing I learned is more often than not, the enemies set the meta and the game is still young to me. Certain enemy archetypes may be prevalent now, but Hoyo can do so many different things down the line. If they decide to make enemies/bosses who disable passive abilities, yo, Gepard’ll be lookin pretty good.
Now with all of that said, second, the E7 community usually encourages most new players to at least have a “standard” team setup (Tank, DPS, Healer, Flex Support) to start with and discover your playstyle taste from there. If you find that you’re a “a good offense is the best defense” where you like clearing enemies before they can hurt you, you might lean less towards tanky units and speedy DPS and support like Seele or Bronya (E7 calls the style “cleave”). If you find you’re a “a good defense is the best offense” where you literally just can’t die but the enemy eventually will, you might lean towards HP/DEF-scaling units like healers or the new Clara or Aventurine (E7 calls the style “tankdown”). ALL the playstyles are viable; just gotta know what you’re doing and, more importantly, WHY you’re doing it.
A unique playstyle is the reason why I think people have the “must pull” thoughts in general: hypercarry, a “all-for-one-and-one-for-all” where you feed a certain character and that character goes berserk on enemies (Acheron arguably fits this). They’re like marriage partners: the more resources you commit to them and if the conditions are just right, they become divinely, being the best at their job compared to counterparts. But that’s the catch: not only might you have to commit hard with certain teammates and/or light cones, the conditions to set them up in battle might be challenging . But again, when everything aligns and they’re fed well, your job is done; the fight is won.
In my conclusion: screw meta. In a game like this, “Must Pull” doesn’t actually exist. The only meta there is is to have enough synergy with teammates to kill before being killed. If a guy can hit lvl 70 and reach the “to be continued” part in story with only F2P units, what more do you actually need? Despite what hype might make you believe, there is such a thing as “good enough.”
The "I like them equally" part is what I'm facing in this patch, between Acheron and Jingliu.
So I just tried to pull for Acheron but ended up losing the 50/50, and it's for the 4th time in a row already, and all of them at high pity.. Sigh.. Why my luck is so bad..
So that means I'll just save for Jingliu now.

For DPSes I'd say I'm 80/20 husbando/waifu to meta since I do consider strength to some degree when I pull. I don't need my faves to be the strongest or most meta but ideally they shouldn't hit like a wet noodle because I still care about clearing content as efficiently as possible (with what I have). For supports its probably 60/40. Ideally, I'd only pull characters I like but since I enjoy making my DPSes as strong as possible I'm willing to pull characters like RM and Sparkle even though I don't like them.
Nah, you're right, Jing Yuan IS goofy. Thats why I like him. He's our goofy sleepy general after all.
Don't think, just pull. This is how I got E4S2 Acheron without even trying. Not thinking means you get doubles sometimes. .01% of the time it works every time!
I started playing near the end of the first seele banner, I'm a male character collector with more females in my account because of believing in the idea of covering what needs to be covered first and theen pull who I want 😢
I don't regret it though, for example I had Luocha (cause healer) and Dan heng IL cause I needed DPS, I actually didn't like him cause his outfit isn't my thing but yeah I've been from the start giving priority to what's useful lol.
I just don't like playing the game and not be able to beat it cause I went stubborn with who I liked. Pretty faces without a plan won't do the job and that would make me dislike them from frustration, so... Yeah I rather think about it well. (I was incredibly unlucky at the start with the 50/50s so I had to be even more selective)
I then got Fu Xuan, lost Jingliu, got Argenti and then Ruan Mei (1st 50/50 wo) I then pulled Sparkle 😂
From the above the one I pulled for liking their design was Argenti (Thank god he is awesome)
And now I have Acheron cause I needed a lightning dps and well Welt was my first 5 star 🫠 so, yeah I believe in the day in which I'll cover all bases and then pull only characters I want for real ú_ù Dan heng IL is fine I just would like a skin for him lol.
I'm planning on getting Sam for the fire coverage and well I need an ice and wind dps 😢 but I want Aventurine fr so... Guess I'm gonna keep waiting for an ice and wind 😂
i am in dout about one thing i come back to play because i am a simp for acheron and i dont know if i pull for her lightcon or wait for pick a sustain to my acount i already have gnsl s5 and she is hitting good ( i am using her with sw pela and the new 4 star sustain) i dont have any 5 star sustain or harmony only have bronya from the standart can someone advise me if i should go for her lichtcon or not

If you can sustain your team pretty well without a 5 star well you can skip and save for other characters

honestly, the reason i pulled for acheron is because i have nihility characters built, welt and silver wolf. but now i am struggling because of the amount of trailblaze power i have used up and still haven't got good relics VHDSOVHSDONVIOSDNVIOFD.

Also I wanted gepard, but I only had fire trailblazer in the past. So what I did is I built trailblazer on how I would've built gepard. I invested a bit on trailblazer but not maxed traces or max lvl.
I have Acheron.. but don't have jingliu.. I like her 40% or so..😅.. so, should I pull jingliu??
My two fave characters are Himeko and Kafka hahahahahah Both are build with their lightcones and i use both of them almost every month on Pure Fiction and MOC.
I have plenty of characters build, so these days i only pull characters i like and build them even if they are "bad". I pulled Acheron because i love Raiden Mei and Raiden Shogun hahahahahah it happens she's very strong, but i don't care right now.

I was gonna skip, but caved and ended up e0s1’ing acheron. Lost to bailu at 75 warp, guaranteed her at 74 warp.
But when i farmed the overworld mobs with her technique i didnt regret it. I mean purple is my favourite colour so that also helps. And her hair changes to white in idle animation

I like to pull for characters with fun gimmicks (waifu/ aesthetic), then I like to make them viable with good synergies (meta)
I will only roll for charas that I won’t get sick of looking at. Power creep is so inevitable and I’ll get salty if I rolled someone for kit and meta purely

I hate that when I tell people that I like this game, they either assume I am a whale or I am a Weeb. This is TMI, but I am aroace. So I care nothing for attractiveness or Waifu, in fact, I find that incredibly cringe as a part of who I am. I will never understand how people can do that even for human beings. That being said, I absolutely love this game. I think the story is fantastic and I love the characters. I don’t wanna bang them! That’s so weird! Why are my only options to be attracted to the toons, or min/maxing?

The problem with pulling for who I want is that I want everyone. Well, the next update’s 5 stars are not as huge a want, so that’s an easy skip update
Pull for account value (if you care about clearing content) the other side pulling for wafiu or kit/design. Just dont cave into meta slave/ fomo
(Excuse the word vomit.) Personally speaking, I approach the waifu v meta spectrum in the following way:
I look at the game, then ask, "Is the environment bad enough that getting what's meta is necessary to amass pulls for the waifus?" In some games, it's not too bad (for example most of the rewards being in participation, not necessarily ranking), but in others it's the opposite (a majority of your pull income being hard to access reasonably quickly unless you're running somewhat close to meta).
If the waifu and meta intersect, it's a happy coincidence--but other times we ain't so lucky. I think I've had...maybe two? three? games where waifu and meta intersect but more often than not in those three you have to be meta to get anywhere near the lategame stuff, so it's definitely something I tend to take into consideration.
If you are a waifu only pullers then you alr winning. It's hoyoverse base they'll eventually brings strong gurls, trust.

J/K. The advice about considering where you are on the scale of waifu vs meta is good advice. That, and the question of what your goal is in the game are two key questions for every gacha gamer.
For me, it's simple. I see waifu, I pull. I see husbando, I skip. And I'm loving HSR.
Can someone be kind enough to explain what 0 cycle stands for ? (started a week and a half ago so still figuring the game out)
There are two end game modes the first of which is Memory of Chaos (MoC). The mode has 12 stages, called "floors" and to obtain all rewards you have to clear the floors in a certain number of rounds (starting from 0) called "cycles". For complete reward you need to clear floors in 10 or less rounds essentially and 0 cycle means you clear a floor before round 1 even begins.
There's a little bit more to the above but until you hit end game it doesn't matter.
