As pointed out by many comments I wasn’t aware that you could manually adjust the healing amount for teleport anchors. Thank you for letting me know! In my defense though outside of Arlan there’s legit zero reason to not heal everyone to full lol.
Additionally; there is a way to lower hp out of battle, though I understand if you didn't know; Trash! No really, garbage is an item that lowers a single unit's hp when "consumed" ulch.
I didn't even catch that, I was more shoked becuase you made me realize the statues of 7 have a animation when they heal😂 I just run beside it twice and get healed
Ngl, maybe I’m just a boring person, but Asta and Arlan are still two of my favorite personalities in the game just because they both act like relatively normal people, and I think that’s a breath of fresh air in a game where so many of the personalities are so extreme. Not that that’s a bad thing or they’re the only ones who are kind of normal though
Lol, that's a fair point actually. I personally like over-the-top personalities in works of fiction, but when 95% of the cast is super flashy, yeah, I guess the "normie" characters can feel pretty unique.
This is literally what I feel about Arlan. In pretty much most media my favourite characters always end up being the most grounded ones, not because I don't like flashy over the top personalities, but because the more real ones just make me feel more at home...
I think that Arlan also struggled because of how prominent other lighting dps characters were. Serval is given for free plus features heavily in the Jarilo6 story, then you have Jing Yuan whose the most important guy on the loufu and final Kafka who is well... Kafka. Its like he stood no chance :( love the video as as always vars!
And again for Acheron, lightning is too incredibly stacked for Arlan to compete Honestly I really wish Hoyo could just straight up buff some characters other than the one time they did it with Zhongli, yeah Gacha game and all but genuinely kind of frustrating since I really love Arlan's design, one of the besr in the game and the few snippets we get with him in the Space Station made me like his character, I genuinely feel Hoyo is missing out on some small profit by just sidelining these characters
Arlan's one claim to fame, imo, would've been that he doesn't use SP. The moment Sparkle came out, he died his final death. What I'd like to see happening would be to have a set that converts stats like HP > ATK around so that he could be build tankier. It wouldn't fix his multipliers or the time it takes to actually get to the low HP% he needs to deal more damage but it would let him actually survive once he gets there. As a 4* and not a particularly popular one at that I think something like that is the best we can hope for since they're never gonna buff him directly. Maybe they'll buff his Path or his Element but both of those are so overstacked with other DPS that would take better advantage of the buffs that he'd still be in the same position once all is said and done.
Can someone fill me in on the nerfs? The only thing that I heard about them was Himeko, but even then I didn't even get the specifics because the way those open beta players in my country explained them sucks major balls
My idea from Arlan, given his position as security officer, would be that he takes a percentage of damage dealt to others in the team upon enemy hits, essentially keeping his team safe which would fit with is re in the game and manage his HP threshold. This would make his low heath/high damage easier to attain and give him a utility outside that (team dmg reduction) which would instantly make him a great sub-DPS.
Arlan actually has a lot of side quests he’s involved in but almost no one does all the side quests. I highly recommend ppl do them. There some of the best quests in all of gaming especially the pinaconi side quests
@ he’s in 4 companion missions and 2 adventure missions, and 2 trailblaze countenance missions and multiple events I haven’t done them in a while but u can see them on the wiki page. At least if I read it correctly lol
Arlan is a character that I feel would do much better in Genshin, as not only can you dodge attacks and use shields to compensate for being constantly low on health, but characters like Furina motivate the constant flow of HP.
Dehya maybe? constant follow up attacks with skill, passive damage taking for teammates like Fu Xuan, a burst that could break off some of the toughness meter for enemies with fire weakness. This is just my personal guess though.@@Dyetai
@@Dyetai I'll echo that. Dehya would have been an amazing preservation unit (and she came out about the same time HSR did). Heck, when you get down to it, what Dehya can do is very similar to what Fu Xuan does.
Arlan is one of my absolute favorite characters in the game. I hate that the odds are so stacked against him. I'm hoping the new preservation unit helps him. Arlan is fun to play.
So some fun facts: You can (as far as I remember) set how much HP you want to get back per character at the space anchor, so you can make sure he doesnt recover HP. And you can lower his HP with items before hand when doing bosses, so you can help him to his higher damage faster.
@@raviogalore4928 Jingliu doesn’t reduce arlans HP nearly enough getting you no reduced by 16% over 4 turns is borderline useless just because you’d feel like playing Arlan, RM can mitigate that to some degree but not nearly enough to make this comp viable.
@@H2B_01 i mean idk the exact values, i just felt like pointing it out lmao. One comp you could do there would be jingliu arlan bronya aventurine, start with jingliu technique, then double arlan to drain the health. Mind you, it would be an absolutely terrible use of jingliu lol, BUT i did watch a video a good while ago that proposed using arlan purely as a sub dps. Could work with jingliu as the main carry, although there's probably better options (can you tell i am hard coping to get arlan some representation lol)
The only time I ever remember using Arlan was that one event in the Luofu where you ended up spamming his ULT so many times that the words “I will pay you back TEN FOLDS!” is just embroidered in my mind even till now.
For me I just use a Character of the same element and similar-ish gameplay for relics. Like how my Sushang has my Svarog disguised as clara relics or how my Hook has my Topaz&Numby relics (Damn you 50/50)
as a dedicated Arlan main....he's actually pretty good once built properly. I perwsonally recommend building his attack and crit and getting e6 and traces so he doesn't need def as once. Set space anchors so he only regains a fraction of health, around half. Invest in a good Natasha, Lynx, any preservation except maybe Fu Xaan (March can work and i used to use Luocha with double destruction), and do NOT worry about HP because he's gonna get almost 3k HP from relics and stats. Mine does fine with no HP relics and no DEF stats since he has crowd res and if you plan it right you can do some good damage with even 30% HP. I've pulled 50k with half health on bosses and rarely do I need to babysit him. Also make sure you have the bonus trait that lets him recover health from enemies. But he does take a lot more work then most casuals will want or have time for compared to say, Blade., I do hope he gets a small buff sometime.....even just a few more percent of damage (even if he hits 100k with attack buffs from supports) Now, Yanqing....now THAT's a character with even less use then Arlan if you want him to do great number when he's powercrept by Jingliu.
I've actually built and used Yanqing and Arlan. Arlan was such a cutie when I started on day one, and I don't really care too much about dmg output as odd as that is? I just dont do the MoC or Fiction thing often, so I just work on building characters and doing story stuff. However, since you said Aventurine is possibly gonna be good with him, I might try him out with Aventurine!
They did Arlan so dirty man I love playing him why did they nerf him to hell Edit: regarding tp thingies you can have them not fully heal him. Also I just realized why are my favorite characters usually the ones that no one remembers oof
Still early on in my playthrough. Just completed the belobog chapter. But Arlan had been one of my favorites. Pairing him with march is difficult and rewarding; and his character is wholesome, and well voiced on top of that. But I do feel why he wouldn’t be used in high level play. Even with a shield, one wrong attack can bring him down and ruin your strategy. As well as his atk being good, but not crazy. He is still my go to damage source if I don’t have effective attacks. I do wish he had more interaction with the cast aside from Asta
I think a good way to make him better is giving him an enhanced state, it activates when reaching 70% health or less (2 casts considering the 15% cost) in the state he consumes 25% instead of 15% to do more damage and when he casts his ult he loses health too but gains a shield or some kind of super armor
Regarding needing to use Arlans skill to go to low health; at least you can set anchors to not heal him so you wont need to do it too often. edit_ saw your pinned comment now, sorry for repeating it XD I love Arlan and hope there will be a light cone that will improve him later.
Casually waiting for another character like Harmony or something else where they drain a selected Ally's HP... I feel like that'd help Arlan a lot when he's paired with a preservation unit
I use Arlan in my teams and to be honest he sweeps 😭😭 he hard carry’s at times and since I have him E5 he revives himself and heals so I don’t need to heal him that often (which would be detrimental anyways but yk during bosses gotta keep him alive)
By the by, in normal gameplay and Normal SimUni after obtaining the Consumables ability from the tree, you can use certain items to _drop_ character HP. Self-Vomiting Agent does that from full to 1% in one use. It’s just that… it’s limited to places you wouldn’t bother using those things, let alone use *him.* Hoyo please, give us back the Beta version Arlan…
5:21 honestly why didnt they make his talent identical to blades in thst it drains ur hp at start of battle that would of just made sense and fixed this problem
The only way I can see Arlan being indirectly fixed is if they release another character that can safely drain his HP for him, like a vampire support charcter or something.
Arlan was the 4-star I was missing for the longest amount of time. I've been playing since 1.1 and I only got him in 1.6. And now that I have him, I have my sights set on Acheron, so he's gonna be benched for the forseeable future now.
I read the thumbnail of the video as “why no one plays ARAM” and finally felt like I wasn’t the only one who doesn’t enjoy playing it. Plus the beginning of the made it seem like the video was actually talking about the choice of character being random would be the focus xD
I actually really like Arlan, in every aspect but his gameplay. Even with very little presence i was very excited to get him... and now i have Blade so i dont use him
I like Arlan. He has good aesthetic design. But, they nerfed him at launch and under utilized him in the story. He was the first character I mained, then I got Gepard's big sister Serval. Then they released Lynx. Now I just use the family with a flex slot. If I play at all. Usually it's Silver Wolf. My biggest problem with HSR is the lack of overworld combined with a story that just doesn't hit for me.
I'll preface this by saying I'm not trying to sway you one way or the other, but I am confused by what you mean by "lack of overworld" when the areas are so large and diverse. Sure, the map is split into zones, similar to how GW2 separates things, but it's by no means small. Running through and killing every enemy in the overworld would likely take a couple hours (if you're not spamming Acheron's delete technique and eating chips to refill points).
bummer if the story doesn't resonate with you, but to each their own. That said, I recommend having Pela as your 4th slot, she's a pretty neat debuffer but more importantly, her and Lynx seem pretty close, so I feel like she fits in!
His light cone hints to a secret, but with such little story presence now, I doubt it will be recieved well. Luocha was built up, Blade keeps popping up, even Gepard had more depth.
FELLOW ARLAN MAINS UNITE!!! WE WILL MAKE ARLAN THE BEST THERE EVER WAS!!!! Side note, his A6 is so useless 😭 literally impossible to use in both MoC and pure fiction
It's interesting you think there's more room for mid-tier 4 stars to be played in Star Rail than Genshin, since I've felt the opposite is true since Star Rail launched. Because Genshin is an action game, the overall gameplay "feel" of using a character's abilities is as important to your enjoyment of playing with them as their power level and aesthetics. There's a lot more room for characters that feel fun to play even if they're mid, just as some stronger characters or teams don't get as much use as their power level suggests because they just don't feel good to play. And on the other side, player still can make up for certain numerical deficiencies. In Star Rail, you're just issuing commands, so the "gameplay feel" stuff doesn't have as big an impact and it's more about numbers. There's still room for gameplay preference but a fun to play kit or player skill can't do as much to make mediocre units more viable.
Not to mention hsr characters are trapped to their path. Theres no room for a unique play style really. At least in Genshin it’s possible to find unique uses of a character with new artifacts or weapons.
The only way I can see arlan being somewhat decent is if there's a 5* harmony that buffs character the lower their HP that also lowers the targets HP to ramp up arlan faster
While I haven't played a lot of hsr, I still managed to get both Arlan and Yanqing within the first week. since the start they've been my fav units(high risk, high reward gameplay is what keeps me interested) However, until I get Gepard, it'll be a steep cliff to climb.
I think the thing that unironically sucks with how he's so bad, is that I actually think he's one of the better designs in the game, that I'll never see because I have no reason to use him over other Lightning dps characters
Lol yeah my Serval is basically at endgame stats and meanwhile I haven't even gotten Arlan yet. He reminds me a lot of Jonah from Jormungand in terms of design so it is a shame he's not worth building.
The concepts for the Dark Knight/Berserker playstyle is definitely there. And while the lack of team synergies/anti-synergy are a concern for some they WILL run out of team comp ideas and start creating Harmony and Abundance that start delving into HP sacrifice; mark my words. What screws Arlan IS Arlan. Yangqing is really only held back by being the LITERALLY poster boy for the Hunt description of single target. Arlan is held back because he literally has anti-synergy with himself just...because Hoyo said so. It's sad.
I can only think of one tiny niche that Arlan can fill right now, and that’s that he’s the only primarily single target Lightning DPS. This is marginally useful in the Penacony calixes where you don’t want to risk hitting the dreamjolt TVs with aoe and trigger their energy drain. It’s not much, but it’s something.
Off topic but does anybody else find it weird how the only darkskinned characters are underwhelming and sorta decent at best? I mean candace, xinyan, dehya, kaeya, and maybe cyno dont do that well in terms of damage
Yeah, I've seen people online attribute that to Hoyo being racist. I strongly believe it's a cultural thing; China is simply not a big fan of diversity lol, so they probably don't see these details as having any significant implications.
@@KoffinKat Yeah, however hoyoverse should start accepting all skin colors tbh :/ im tired of just seeing ⚪️ and a little bit of 🟤 when i want all types of 🟠🟡⚫️🟢🔵🟣🔴 colored characters
Kaeya is literally one of the best 4 star sub dps in Genshin, Xinayan can be an ULT nuke, Candace can work well with a good team focusing on Hydro, and Dehya can be a good off field sub, all of these characters are usable and can be great if you build them right
In general Arlan just about succumbed to the same sitaution as a good chunk of DPS units in Genshin and HSR. In general you only have 1 (maybe 2 for HSR if you want to) slot for DPS while the rest are supports. WIth the large amount of DPS units being released, units that have high risks will almost always loose out if the pay-off isn't great. And for 5 stars, the high risk is almost always returned with a high reward. So most just don't have a reason to go for him when a good chunk of players' first 5 star would ikely be a 5-star DPS given that nearly every patch has a DPS you can try to get. And as it is now, it's not like there's a Himeko/Herta situation around the corner with something like Pure Fiction being released that would suddenly buff him. It feels like the only way such might happen to Arlan is if they also inadvertently buff Destruction, which isn't a good idea given that the balance now between the three Paths is already good enough.
I mean, it's not really the case, some people opt for 4 stars like QQ and Xueyi for dps even if they are outshined by 5 stars with eidolons, Arlan is just severely underpowered for a dps, even if his kit is pretty fun to use
In my opinion it would be a good buff too, if the talent maximum capacity would be reached when Arlan's HP reach 35% max HP instead of 1 HP, So in talent lvl 10 he will get that 72% bonus damage at 35% HP instead of 1 HP, if possible make it back to 80% bonus damage because of the high risk This number corresponds to a lot of destruction blessing in the simulated universe, which is 35% HP For the survivability part I totally aggre, A6 35% HP activation, and E4 with no turn limit.. :"( And maybe the skill can be drain 30% HP if his HP still above 50%, and drain 15% if his HP above 50% for the sake of survavability but still speeding up his talent gain.
I was an Arlan main until I got Acheron and built her a few days ago, I'll never forget my boy😤 It's sad he doesn't get nearly enough attention, similar to Razor (also my oldest and longest main until Xiao's third banner, I don't play him as much now)
Arlan does have a niche. His technique is one of the most buffed in the game. Other characters have nice techniques, but Arlan’s can have like 200% damage with his passive and LC right off the get-go. Wuthering Snow fixes his HP management by allowing you to use his normal to both regen SP and health and also reduces his damage taken. Yes, it’s a small damage loss, but you do gain energy which is good for him. I think people just don’t care to experiment with him, which is fine, but he definitely has a niche.
I feel like he's designed for Simulated Universe or for the main story, where you have a lot of short battles in a row rather than any fights that are designed to be drawn out. Likewise, I hear he's gotten a pretty decent meta in Pure Fiction, where he is great for clearing one or two mooks quickly. It's not as good as the likes of Himeko or Herta, but still great. Especially with his light cone (at S5, it gives nearly a 100% damage boost if you have lower hp perfentage than the target) since he will mostly be attacking enemies that are designed to be 1-2 shot each. I feel like with Star Rail, Hoyo decided to release a bunch of seemingly bad characters early on with intent to make them shine later.
To add salt to injury his light cone has one of the craziest dmg increase of all the 4-star light cones. I think he was nerfed to make Blade shine brighter. Also, too many hot Lighting dps have been released, so having a low-budged lighting DPS similar to Blade and actually being good was a risk I believe Hoyo was not willing to take.
In CBT2, Arlan did actually have high damage. The % Ratios in CBT2 were uniform. At Trace level 1, every Basic Attack had 50%, Blast Skills had 75% to Main Target and 50% to adjacent, full AoE Skills had 60% to all, and Single Target Skills had 100% (Which means Single Target Skills always did the least damage unless there was only 1 target). Except for Arlan, who had 150% on his Skill, and I believe the gap was bigger at higher levels. He was the only one who didn't have uniform scaling. Ultimate ratios were also uniform, though I don't remember the exact numbers. In CBT2, almost everyone I spoke to used a setup of 2 DPS (1 AoE, 1 Single Target or Blast), 1 Buffer/Debuffer and 1 Shielder/Healer, and aside from filling those roles, trying to have 3-4 different Elements for Break Coverage, as a general purpose composition that was, while not the BEST at anything, functional for all content without needing to flex teams for different battles, as we had limited time and thus limited resources to level characters for flexing like that (And also limited pulls to get different characters for flexing like that). Of course, some people didn't follow this setup, but it was a general-purpose guideline that a lot of us used to make things easier and maintain versatility across all content.
its very sad cause i liked him very much as a character when i started playing HSR. and i really wanted to main him. but then i got some good 5* characters, i understood that i literally can't.
Not sure if someone called this out, but there are items to reduce character health that are really easy to craft, obviously this doesn't work for alternate sim universe modes but it's something.
So Vars, There is actually a hidden detail about Arlan's passive that i get it, Not just you but a lot of people (including beta players) didn't actually understand. The passive currently says "Increases Arlan's DMG for every percent of HP below his Max HP, up to a max of 36% (more if you level the talent) more DMG." All though this isn't technically wrong. it's misleading. The passive should say "increases Arlan's DMG for every percent of HP below his Max HP. Per 1% of Max HP lost, gain 0.36% +DMG% up to a max of 36% (more if you level the talent)" And as an Arlan main from Day 1, This is surprisingly something a lot of players don't actually understand about the passive (not even beta players knew). I can understand why people don't know though.. It's because we assume that duh.. You only need to lose up to the max amount specified on the passive to acquire the max DMG possible. But in reality you have to be at 1hp or lose 100% of your max hp to obtain the full buff. The reason why i think this went under the noises of so many players, is because yes; He literally has no purpose in the story at all, so he's easy to forget. And yes not the best DMG. But also because he is always at 1 hp.. So people just assume the passive is working the way they think it is.. So i hope this sheds some better understanding of how the passive actually works to both you and anyone reading this comment.. Because it's gotten past almost every player in the game..
Sad to see so much wasted potential. I genuinely like Arlan as a character. It’s true he’s definitely nothing flashy. Fits a guard that stays in the background to observes things. (It can also be seen as a remnant from his childhood. It probably wasn’t safe to attract attention in the slums.) There’s something heartbreaking that he hides his wounds and bandages from everyone. Not wanting to show any weakness. Completely focused on protecting Asta and everyone on space station without any thought on his own pain. Trying to repay the kindness Asta showed him when she basically rescued him from starving on the streets. (Arlan is as much Asta’s puppy as Peppy is)
Considering the Dan Heng > Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae thingamabob during the Luofu storyline, Hoyo might as well just slap in a 5-star Peppy as Arlan's counterpart and call it a day.
Yeah, i didn't even knew that you can interact with space anchor or whatever the teleports are called, and set the amount of % hp you want to be healed for every singe character individually. And now that we know what Aventurine does, well, if only you had Yanqing or Arlan built, I'm pretty sure they're never getting hit with Aventurine. As for thier dmg output, tbh is very debatable topic. Ppl can't even agree on top tier 5 stars who's better and how much dmg this or that character deals, cuz there's just too many variables.
Maybe he doesn't need a buff, but he needs to be unnerfed at least. When I was starting, Arlan and Yanqing were my main damage dealers for a while. I feel like one of the best things Arlan has going for him is that he doesn't use any skill points, so theoretically, he would go very well with SP heavy units like IL Dan if he was better.
Adventurine is coming out. He'll have a degree of resurgence then and will actually have a place to call home. Adventurine even provides cc resistance, which will help against dots. He may not be a best in slot solution and with newer boss mechanics hanging at low hp will only become a larger risk. However, in general content having a generalized beat stick like arlan will be great for smaller bosses and most parts of simulated universe. Sure ruan mei, topaz and now acheron will continue to trivialize simulated universe but there's now a actual appeal to the turn key nature of arlan with a fast enough adventurine and one life per fight to throw away if the enemy gets saucy.
The only way I could foresee him becoming useful and buffed is if a future character needs a team member to die before reaching max strength. Hard to find someone better at running their HP to 0 and who will be less missed on a team than Arlan, so that's about the best niche I can think for him to regain usage.
I got him yesterday and i’m quite happy, I like his design bc he looks exactly like one of my ocs, (minus the clothing) it’s the skin colour, eye colour, and the hair is the same style and colour He will be benched forever tho
with no other darker skinned playable character in sight for the foreseeable future. in a game about exploring the whole ass universe. ...hopefully HoYo's able to see how that doesn't exactly look great lol
Quite ‘interesting’ how the darker skin character is one of the worst characters! I think if he get a lightcone that drained his health by half at the beginning of a fight for more crit dmg he’d do well.
i actually liked him quite a bit as a character and gameplay wise (well ignoring his many flaws that im now aware of), but i still havent built him and have been working on other chars. I think im part of the problem but i'll get to building him eventually.
I honestly hope wuwu is a huge success so hoyo wakes the f up, this is outrageous, such an easy fix but they are so adverse when it comes to actually maintaining their own games with buffs, nerfs, quality of life so and so, talk about being lazy, they deserve hell, all hail wuwu
I do think that Arlan sadly would have to be buffed because what could they do otherwise give him a support unit that solves his issues like more damage on thier buff the lower the targets hp with a health cost kinda thing the problem is this method would just see a blade resurgence not Arlan so he would ned a buff I think there’s no other way to fix him that wouldn’t just directly be better to run with blade
So you're telling me he has a revive, that works well with his low HP strategy but disappears after TWO TURNS? Damn that's terrible. In FGO revives last 3-5 turns, and many characters have self-focus when they do or are Berserkers who naturally take 2x damage. But in FGO we can easily get hit by enemy NP for a lot of damage. I think a target focus unit could help Arlan like March 7 skill, or an inverse of Bronya skill to subtract character HP for ATK. Story wise we haven't gotten to the Destruction yet, so you can be assured there'll be a broken support with something like this.
I love arlan so much, He's my 2nd fully maxed out traced character only behind March, but GOD DAMN is it hard to get a character that can keep him alive.
Well, I got an idea of indirectly buff Arlan. What if Hoyoverse designs a character/lightcone that drains 15-25% percent of the party’s max HP and converts it into a shield. That way, Arlan can get to that win condition without the risk of dying or losing huge amounts of damage. EDIT: Is me, is does Hoyoverse have thing of making darker skinned characters mid to flat out awful? Are they secretly racist?
Arlan was nerfed to the ground and heavily underutilized in the story, being relegated to side quests that are completely optional content as the reward for playing through them is mostly the enjoyment of the story and learning more about the characters in them. And not everyone did that, which makes him a much less present character and gives him less room to shine, which makes it difficult to make him a compelling character. He has everything against him and it gets even worse, because generally beloved characters are more likely to receive buffs because it's more profitable to buff a subpar, but beloved characted than doing the same to the worst character that nobody cares about
arlen was the best designed 4 star dps in star rail and even genshin at the time of beta. He had 5 star scalings on his abilities but had to be low health, the perfect balance and way to make 4 star dps viable, they are strong but come with discomfort to make them viable. But then they nerfed him for the release, that was so stupid
I remember thinking he was an npc bc his design was kinda bland and when we met him he was injured AND had to be saved like hell nah, head of security? more like head of fraudulity, it would've been way more badass if he at least joined us in the fight even when injured to show his gimmick
His kit just doesn't really have synergy for some reason. Like the HP drain is so slow, he loses out on his own LC cos he can't drop HP faster than he's (ideally) dropping enemies' HP. considering he was an early released character, he should have mirrored the Destruction simulated universe path, honestly, and dropped hp faster but regained a % of lost hp as shield.
Arlan was not considered weak when the game came out. People just had no opinion about him, mainly because he could only be obtained from the standard banner if you're lucky. Some were saying that he's equal to Serval and that Serval is decent. The only character who was considered weak from the very beginning is Herta
I really hope he gets some kind of buff in the future i personally think hes a cool character and reminds me alot of characters like 'Killua' Ive still built him but havent used him
What if I said they nerfed Arlan because he’s dark in complexion and there’s a hidden rule in hoyoverse that states that: “if they aren’t fair, they AREN’T FAIR”
As pointed out by many comments I wasn’t aware that you could manually adjust the healing amount for teleport anchors. Thank you for letting me know! In my defense though outside of Arlan there’s legit zero reason to not heal everyone to full lol.

Honestly I really wish Hoyo could just straight up buff some characters other than the one time they did it with Zhongli, yeah Gacha game and all but genuinely kind of frustrating since I really love Arlan's design, one of the besr in the game and the few snippets we get with him in the Space Station made me like his character, I genuinely feel Hoyo is missing out on some small profit by just sidelining these characters
@@KoryLunaa wait acheron is lighting? I thought she was quantum oof

And now Acheron damn
The saddest thing is that he used to be quite decent, but they nerfed him into the ground just before HSR released :(
Blade: He died for (my)our nerfs
@@franconunez925Firefly: Make that double
@@Giovansbillylolol, now i'm thinking of the Team Rocket intro speech with Blade being James, Sam being Jesse, & Arlan being Meowth.
same with Herta and Himeko. They are so good in open beta, just for Mihoyo to nerf them to the ground.
“You can’t kill me of if I kill myself first” - Box2
Arlan actually has a lot of side quests he’s involved in but almost no one does all the side quests. I highly recommend ppl do them. There some of the best quests in all of gaming especially the pinaconi side quests
I did them all and constantly forget he exists (didn't help that I didn't have him for a couple of monthes PS I got the game release)
Last time I checked he’s only involved in 2 and even then, in the Screwllum and SW quest, he is only featured in the beginning
@ he’s in 4 companion missions and 2 adventure missions, and 2 trailblaze countenance missions and multiple events I haven’t done them in a while but u can see them on the wiki page. At least if I read it correctly lol
Arlan is a character that I feel would do much better in Genshin, as not only can you dodge attacks and use shields to compensate for being constantly low on health, but characters like Furina motivate the constant flow of HP.
the duality,
some HSR characters are better if in genshin's environment and some genshin characters are more fitting for HSR

So some fun facts:
You can (as far as I remember) set how much HP you want to get back per character at the space anchor, so you can make sure he doesnt recover HP. And you can lower his HP with items before hand when doing bosses, so you can help him to his higher damage faster.
only for normal SU and overworld which kinda pointless NGL

Arlan is great because he holds my pre-farmed artifacts before a new unit comes out, since he will never need any of his own.

Arlan not about content speedrun. Arlan for fun, arlan for love
Gonna be honest when I first saw Arlan during the tutorial I thought he was just some random NPC we had to protect.
Not the head of security...
as a dedicated Arlan main....he's actually pretty good once built properly. But he does take a lot more work then most casuals will want or have time for compared to say, Blade., I do hope he gets a small buff sometime.....even just a few more percent of damage (even if he hits 100k with attack buffs from supports)
Now, Yanqing....now THAT's a character with even less use then Arlan if you want him to do great number when he's powercrept by Jingliu.
Even the story neglected him. I felt like he was either going to be an NPC or would die early to add shock factor to the prologue.
I don't think people would care if he died. I surely wouldn't.

I SWEAR ONCE IGET HIM. IM GONNA MAKE HIM MY MAIN DPS. IDC HOW WEAK PEOPLE SAY HE IS, I AM STILL MAINING HIM-
as someone who loves the boy I will use him no matter how it cripples me when I need lightning damage.
Kinda salty be can't use the new destruction light cone as he only eats 15% hp than the 25% the cone needs to boost damage
🎉 WELCOME JADE
I fell in love with Arlan's design and tried SO HARD to make him work. Then Kafka came out.

It’s just that… it’s limited to places you wouldn’t bother using those things, let alone use *him.*
Hoyo please, give us back the Beta version Arlan…
5:21 honestly why didnt they make his talent identical to blades in thst it drains ur hp at start of battle that would of just made sense and fixed this problem
The only way I can see Arlan being indirectly fixed is if they release another character that can safely drain his HP for him, like a vampire support charcter or something.
Yall remember in CBT3 when he was cracked out of his mind? 😭
I would graldly use Arlan since I don't have a single Lightning DPS built.
But my resources are all in for fine tuning my supports.
Arlan was the 4-star I was missing for the longest amount of time. I've been playing since 1.1 and I only got him in 1.6. And now that I have him, I have my sights set on Acheron, so he's gonna be benched for the forseeable future now.
For the healing in teleport points you can set how much a certain character gets healed by it
I read the thumbnail of the video as “why no one plays ARAM” and finally felt like I wasn’t the only one who doesn’t enjoy playing it.
Side note, his A6 is so useless 😭 literally impossible to use in both MoC and pure fiction
one day there will be a harmony character that makes him meta (coping)
Genshin has more viable 4* than HSR bfr rn. It's even worse for them since they're in a turn based game which means damage do matter.
While I haven't played a lot of hsr, I still managed to get both Arlan and Yanqing within the first week.
since the start they've been my fav units(high risk, high reward gameplay is what keeps me interested)
However, until I get Gepard, it'll be a steep cliff to climb.
I think the thing that unironically sucks with how he's so bad, is that I actually think he's one of the better designs in the game, that I'll never see because I have no reason to use him over other Lightning dps characters
serval is way better then him and she is free like why hoyo
It's sad.
THAT WHAT I’M SAYING. His design & looks are definitely in my personal top 10 tbh, it’s a shame that he is truly the worst DPS of all times in HSR…
I've spent more time with Arlan in his text messages than actually in the story😂
I mean candace, xinyan, dehya, kaeya, and maybe cyno dont do that well in terms of damage
not complaining tho, i love being an arlan main
Yeah, I've seen people online attribute that to Hoyo being racist. I strongly believe it's a cultural thing; China is simply not a big fan of diversity lol, so they probably don't see these details as having any significant implications.
@@KoffinKat Yeah, however hoyoverse should start accepting all skin colors tbh :/ im tired of just seeing ⚪️ and a little bit of 🟤 when i want all types of 🟠🟡⚫️🟢🔵🟣🔴 colored characters
Kaeya is literally one of the best 4 star sub dps in Genshin, Xinayan can be an ULT nuke, Candace can work well with a good team focusing on Hydro, and Dehya can be a good off field sub, all of these characters are usable and can be great if you build them right
@@justacuteonigiri All of what you said are plain copium ngl (no hate).
The only saving grace for Arlan is for Aventurine to be enough to sustain him. If not, then idk what else will.
Hoyo: "Of course we will buff Arlan, in a form of new characters"
It's not even that. He was nerfed into oblivion after the last CBT before HSR's release. If he had his CBT kit he'd still be incredibly good.
I mean, it's not really the case, some people opt for 4 stars like QQ and Xueyi for dps even if they are outshined by 5 stars with eidolons, Arlan is just severely underpowered for a dps, even if his kit is pretty fun to use
Well this is interesting for you to be covering the topic xD
In my opinion it would be a good buff too, if the talent maximum capacity would be reached when Arlan's HP reach 35% max HP instead of 1 HP,
So in talent lvl 10 he will get that 72% bonus damage at 35% HP instead of 1 HP, if possible make it back to 80% bonus damage because of the high risk
This number corresponds to a lot of destruction blessing in the simulated universe, which is 35% HP
For the survivability part I totally aggre, A6 35% HP activation, and E4 with no turn limit.. :"(
And maybe the skill can be drain 30% HP if his HP still above 50%, and drain 15% if his HP above 50% for the sake of survavability but still speeding up his talent gain.
As an arlan main who has played him since I started last year in May, i've been waiting for this video
Xinyan, Dehya, Candace and Cyno: First time?
Not anymore with cyno now that there's more dendro characters that work with him, making him useful
Istg, there is a PATTERN
hoyo's not beating the colorism allegations given that theres such a small sample size in the first place 😭😭
Dehya atleasy has a decent use in lyney teams where you need mono Pyro so a full support dehya in lyney team is actually good
To add salt to injury his light cone has one of the craziest dmg increase of all the 4-star light cones. I think he was nerfed to make Blade shine brighter. Also, too many hot Lighting dps have been released, so having a low-budged lighting DPS similar to Blade and actually being good was a risk I believe Hoyo was not willing to take.
As an Amber Main in Genshin, My pettiness and somewhat sentimenality to "weak characters" is the reason why Arlan is my Main
Same. I just really like using underdogs and oh boy is Arlan THE underdog if HSR.
It probably wasn’t safe to attract attention in the slums.)
There’s something heartbreaking that he hides his wounds and bandages from everyone.
Just for fun, I Max him... and instead of being a joke, he became one of the more solid characters I use.
It's so satisfying
Which light cone do you prefer?
* Aventurine
Sadly hoyo verse headquarters will be destroyed before the patch by a giant lizard that shoots pretty cool beams and is huuuuge

The only way I could foresee him becoming useful and buffed is if a future character needs a team member to die before reaching max strength. The fact his damage scaling was cut during beta on his skill from 320% to 240% is criminal because he comboed with Bronya really well.
Quite ‘interesting’ how the darker skin character is one of the worst characters! I think if he get a lightcone that drained his health by half at the beginning of a fight for more crit dmg he’d do well.
Genshin should’ve been proof they’re not gonna make darker skin characters good 💀but also he wouldn’t get a signature lc cause he’s a 4*
i actually liked him quite a bit as a character and gameplay wise (well ignoring his many flaws that im now aware of), but i still havent built him and have been working on other chars.
He has everything against him and it gets even worse, because generally beloved characters are more likely to receive buffs because it's more profitable to buff a subpar, but beloved characted than doing the same to the worst character that nobody cares about
Indeed, I wish he joined the team in the beginning of the story, then swapped with Himeko.
arlen was the best designed 4 star dps in star rail and even genshin at the time of beta. He had 5 star scalings on his abilities but had to be low health, the perfect balance and way to make 4 star dps viable, they are strong but come with discomfort to make them viable. But then they nerfed him for the release, that was so stupid
I remember thinking he was an npc bc his design was kinda bland and when we met him he was injured AND had to be saved like hell nah, head of security? more like head of fraudulity, it would've been way more badass if he at least joined us in the fight even when injured to show his gimmick

minor correction there are consumables that can lower a characters health outside of combat
Guess my name is No One 😭
I really hope he gets some kind of buff in the future i personally think hes a cool character and reminds me alot of characters like 'Killua' Ive still built him but havent used him
What if I said they nerfed Arlan because he’s dark in complexion and there’s a hidden rule in hoyoverse that states that: “if they aren’t fair, they AREN’T FAIR”
He also has darker skin. We all know how Mihoyo treats dark skinned characters. It feels racist tbh.
dehya…. the only actually usable dark skin character they ever made was hi3 carole who also fell off HARD.
this is the main reason. at the top of the list
It's so weird that I forgot Arlan existed because he's just..nowhere.
If arlan has zero players I'm DEAD
