Thank you for the video reply! We actually have a series for drummers called the Beat It! You should TH-cam It! Adam will be featured in our next episode. Are you a drummer as well?
Nicholas the reason we shoot the way we do is a style we chose to engage more than just drummers for this video. We like the fact that we stand out above all the other videos people do. Every person who is not a drum lover that we've shown has stayed engaged. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
springwoodprod Moving camera is a nice change from the static camera that you see in most drum playthroughs and cover videos. But some of the shake is too much for objective camera perspective and sometimes looks unintentional. Consider using moving camera when it's motivated by segments of the song ... the same way you used slowmo at 0:43 which is motivated by the break in the song and the drumstick trick (:
springwoodprod I can assure you this doesn't help to engage more people than just drummers for this video. Standing out above the rest is a good thing, but this isn't adding any production value and is just taking away the fact that it's a drum playthrough. Instead I would suggest using more camera angles (like maybe a top view) and introducing more motivated camera movement. for example a slider shot for the foot cam.. It looks totally awesome but is hardly used by anyone on youtube. One last thing I would suggest is keeping the horizon steady because otherwise it's very unpleasant to watch. and yes, of course everyone is entitled to their opinions, but as a videographer and drummer myself I just wanted to tell you my opinion :)
NameleSsdrummer96 I appreciate the thoughts. Maybe you can send me a link of some things that you've shot that demonstrate what you are talking about. This is honestly a style choice and saying that it engages more people isn't something pulled out of thin air but rather consistent feedback from non drummers. A playthrough maybe is the wrong terminology for what was posted. I like the idea of the slider moving in on the foot. My personal email is jgarcia@springwoodproductions.com. I'd like to see your work.
This is the most influential, insane, amazing drum video I have ever seen. Adam, you are THE MAN. This will be on repeat for me until you film your next one (;
The camera movements were to dense for me, I like some production on videos but at a time I felt dissy, just to much for me, but this guy is increeeeeeeedibly talented, hope to see more videos.
**Pause rewind repeat, pause rewind repeat, pause rewind repeat. Practice that trick over and over** And finally got it! Ive learned 90% of my trick from You man. Fucking beast!!! You and Matt Both!
The camera movement definitely took away from the performance IMO, less is more! But I loved this video regardless, Adam is a beast and this song definitely shows his talent. Keep doing your thing man!
I love how Springwood is trying to justify the camera movements... If one person disliked them, and everyone else loved them, I can see why you might want to point out to that one person why you do them. But if half the comments are complaining about it, just cut your losses, realize that people don't like them, and adjust for the next video. No hate intended, and I can appreciate the artistic aspect of it, but it's just too much. Tone it down a touch.
This is so tight. I do have one question, though: on the GK Instagram, you have the sizes listed as 10x9, 12x9.75, 16x14, and 20x17.75 (source): instagram.com/p/mnir_alDbC/?modal=true But in the description here, you have different depths. Is this a new kit that looks exactly the same, but with slightly different depths, or was there a mismeasurement, or am I missing something? Just curious.
Why people have this terrible need of comparing every drummer to Luke Holland. Luke has a very unique style and he definitely knows how to play drums. I find the criticizing of professional drummers very immature.
He is the best metalcore drummer in the world !!! PERIOD.
He is insane, he is the Guy!
We want some more Adam Gray videos! There’s not nearly enough on TH-cam. Guys unreal behind a kit
Joe rogan is getting pretty good at the drums
Absolutely love how hard and clean his hits are....unreal!
@ 00:43 took that nigguh luke holland out the game in one trick
hahahahahahah
nigguh wasnt in the game to begin with
0:43 I literally gasped for breath. Oh Adam. How the heck do you come up with this stuff? Phenomenal.
MintahDrums simple, hes not frm this planet
No cymbals were harmed or injured in the making of this video.
Well.... Haha
But they totally were haha
Lies
0:43 dude...
Right?
I was kind of getting bored of stick tricks, I've been seeing them since TIJ started but that one was so siiiiiiiiiiiiiick
Rui Carneiro same dude! Adam's still the king of them and that kind of proves it lol
there are no words.
That's literally what I said when I saw it. Holy shit
Adam is the man, phenomenal drumming! great quality GK! It would be awesome to see more videos like these in the future!
There are definitely more videos to come! Don't worry ;)
Awesome! Thanks for responding! I'm excited for that Rap God video he announced!

Watching Adam drum makes a Gray day sunny.
Going into 2020 and this drum vid still kills!!
Can't believe I haven't watched this one. After finishing the video, I realised I pretty much had held my breath for most of it..
I love watching Adam. But I feel sad that'll ill never be able to enjoy playing on his level. I can imagine how rewarding how it would feel.
Jacob Butler Practice is the only thing that separates Adam from you.

That China gives the fucking heebie jeebies man it's so crisp and the tone hits just right
RIP to any cymbals thay Comes this mans way, dude is a beast
Adam is the man!
Was the cameraman on a boat? No need for the shaky camera work to make Adam Gray look more brutal. He does that on his own.

I just LOL'D :D

Adam... wow!!! that energy while playing drums!! so accurate!!! fucking awesome man, great video.
Drumming goals.
I love the fact that his body kind of loosened up a bit compared to his older video's. Definitely more groove nowadays (Y).
So clean..
Man what a beast n cool person I got is autograph \m/
The camera movements were to dense for me, I like some production on videos but at a time I felt dissy, just to much for me, but this guy is increeeeeeeedibly talented, hope to see more videos.

Easily my favorite drummer of all time.
Yup, this video confirms it. Favorite drummer ever. Effortless, clean and so heavy. And those ghost notes ... how does he do it?
Sooo Sickkk!!
There was released so much energy in 1:21, experts call it Hiroshima 2.0
My thoughts exactly man, that China makes it sound so much better and fills the breakdown perfectly
All Hail THE King Of Stick Trick! 0:43 nobody is Fucking with him! Grey Is BEAST!
This is brutal
This is so good it's depressing.
BEST DRUMMER EVER
God bless You Adam :)
**Pause rewind repeat, pause rewind repeat, pause rewind repeat.

And finally got it!
Ive learned 90% of my trick from You man.
Fucking beast!!! You and Matt Both!
It's been a month now! IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER ONE!
Gotta do one of these videos for Sweetest Poison!!!
And to think that this is just the opening song on the album.
There needs to be a separate video for just his feet and then his hands. This dude is so talented
We considered doing this. Good thought.
We definitely considered doing this...
0:43
have my babies
Adjusting to the fact that as of a few hours ago, the band behind this video does not exist. Rest in peace.
The camera movement definitely took away from the performance IMO, less is more! But I loved this video regardless, Adam is a beast and this song definitely shows his talent. Keep doing your thing man!
man, i wish my playing was this tight
i liked this video for the sole purpose of the stick flip he did.
Eyes closed and all wow ..

Him and Matt Greiner gotta be related… the power and passion you play with is how it should be done
Mantapp 👍👍👍👍
Satan: "Adam, if you sell me your soul, I'll give you my drumming skills; you know, I'm like the best metal drummer ever"
Adam: "Sure, why not"
Maybe this is where Luke Holland gets a few of his chops..
I also heard a little Nic Pettersen in the ending ghost notes.
A monster...
Still the best in the scene to do it imo
Me likey!
Awesome video, but holy crap the camera movements. Maybe for the next video you guys do you could tone it down a bit?
Someone get this man back behind a drum kit please.
Fucking beast mode!! Jesus Christ!!
with eyes closed
3.33 goes fucking hard
i wonder why Adam isn't the part of drummers who are called leader drummers today...

1:22 SO VIOLENT!!!!

To anyone who thinks they can drum please think again, amazing
How do you even write these parts?

Like, 2 sessions and RIP that crash on his right side.
