Correct me if I am wrong, doesn’t LA get this kind of wind every year? So, the wind isn’t any more and less dangerous, it’s the condition on the ground that’s dangerous given the forecast. So, what are authorities doing to remove or at the minimum mitigate the dangerous conditions on the ground? Or are they simply hoping or praying for less dangerous wind?
Homes will likely be built in drier climates with more concrete and metal. Wood is a great insulator for air conditioning energy costs though. Same for heating for the same reason. You are correct; this wind is routine and expected. It was a *GUARANTEE* that fire would one day flatten the entirety of the community up to the ocean… because of those winds in a dry bush land. There’s even a more recent and public warning on Joe Rogan’s podcast where he said a firefighter told him the exact same thing. It was always a matter of when, which requires the pre staging of water reserve storage and fire retardant… and the man power to distribute it… which wasn’t there and never staged. Japan has wooden communities with water and fire retardant storage that’s been sitting around for decades, ready at any moment for if a fire problem happens. This is why.
So what you're hinting at is that California needs to sweep its forests. Which, okay, sure, that needs doing, but the vast majority of these fires seem to be starting in or very near residential areas. So maybe it's not California that needs to sweep its forests - maybe it's California residents that need to maintain their shared living spaces. Again, not arguing that forest maintenance (which seems to be what you're driving at) isn't important, but many of these "forests" are not forests in the traditional sense. The state government just deciding to make sure that everyone sweeps their forests before bed every night isn't going to cut it here. It's going to take coordinated, sustained efforts by private citizens and politicians alike and a LOT of habit-changing.
@@koollee Not true at all. But you'd have to read a bit more than maga approved misinformation sites. All rivers go to the ocean. About the only river that isn't dammed is the Smith up north. Everyone wants a cut of the "water pie" but only so much to go around. All the reservoirs were full except Santa Inez down for maintenance when the fires started. Maybe the democrat Pat Brown shouldn't have brought water to the south at all? But then California is the 5th largest economy in the world.
The Santa Ana wind was on last week. There is not much wind this week. They keep on saying potential high wind, but that potential high wind condition have not show up yet.

I know what you mean. I’m married to a fire fighter. If it helps to know this, he has told me that most fire victims will die from smoke asphyxiation before they die from the actual flames. It helps me to know this because it happens pretty quick in a structure fire.

This fire was a once in 100 year fire. That said, the Mayor of Los Angeles and Governor of California are to be held responsible for the lack of preparation. There were no fire breaks in the mountains, no control burns and for some reason, no water. The governor and mayor should resign.
0:45 with a miss like that I don’t think they’re actually trying to fight it. I think LA county is planningto misuse as much of this emergency funding as possible, in hopes that the more homes burn down, the more wealth exchanges hands locally

Because that was a weak spot in the Sandy Hook narrative. It wasn’t convincing especially when the victims sang on the 50-yard line at the Superbowl. The Feds learn from their failures.
The L.A. Times reported -and I'm sure it killed them to do it-that enviros stopped the brush mitigation around Topanga Canyon by the L.A. Department of Water and Power in the Pacific Palisades in 2019 because of "community concerns about protected plants in the construction area." The Times reported in 2019 that DWP wanted to replace old wooden electricity poles with steel ones to lessen the fire fuel in Topanga Canyon. They also hoped to widen fire breaks on the slope leading from the Palisades to Pacific Coast Highway.
Ill be damned. Who would have thought that not logging and mowing for decades would have led to such a shocking outcome. Good news tho, the brush is cleared out for next fire season
It’s sickening that people in the comments are celebrating this. No one should celebrate displacement and death of people. Just like how no one should’ve celebrated what happened in North Carolina. Insurance companies, the government, and land lords are going to screw over all these displaced people. This isn’t left vs right. This is up vs down.
Thank you! Kicking people when they're down, threatening to deny aid because you don't like the politics, is cruel and frankly un-American. But that's where we're at. Gotta own the libs! I say, give it a rest, you won the election and Newsom is gone in '26. Shut up and govern, let's see the magic!
This happened when half my hometown burned down overnight (Santa Rosa CA Tubbs fire 2017). Trees left standing and randomly dispersed homes were spared in the wreckage. I agree with the above commenter
Trees are full of water and have evolved to be resistant to fire, but unlike the trees, our houses are filled to the brim with PLASTICS; petroleum based plastics- very flammable. The carpets, flooring, upholstery, countertops, everything electrical is also mostly plastic. The paint on the walls is plastic. What isn't plastic is largely wood. If you don't believe me, do your own experiment. Comb up some carpet fibers, get under the couch and grab a few strands of upholstery fabric, peel a few paint chips off the can, wad everything up into individual balls and place on the oven door next to some fine pine shavings. Set it all on fire and see what burns the fastest. I know I was SHOCKED!
You know, LA grew organically over the years, that was part of its charm. To rebuild is a pathetic attempt at something that cannot possibly be done. It won’t ever be the same. Newsom and Bass should be held responsible for this.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He was buried and rose again after 3 days, according to the Scriptures.

Everyone wants a cut of the "water pie" but only so much to go around. All the reservoirs were full except Santa Inez down for maintenance when the fires started. Maybe the democrat Pat Brown shouldn't have brought water to the south at all? But then California is the 5th largest economy in the world.

This fire was a once in 100 year fire. That said, the Mayor of Los Angeles and Governor of California are to be held responsible for the lack of preparation. There were no fire breaks in the mountains, no control burns and for some reason, no water. The governor and mayor should resign.

I'd like to know why Mayor Bass chose to travel out of the country despite the red flag warnings and extreme fire watch issued for her county. The L.A. Times reported -and I'm sure it killed them to do it-that enviros stopped the brush mitigation around Topanga Canyon by the L.A. Department of Water and Power in the Pacific Palisades in 2019 because of "community concerns about protected plants in the construction area."
The Times reported in 2019 that DWP wanted to replace old wooden electricity poles with steel ones to lessen the fire fuel in Topanga Canyon. They also hoped to widen fire breaks on the slope leading from the Palisades to Pacific Coast Highway.

North Carolina.
I'm telling you people this was and is deliberately being done to cover up some bad things
Yes and it’s biblical. Joel 1/2
I dont think no ones celebrating this. Just major finger pointing.
This is 100% left vs right. It is a man-made disaster
No ones celebrating, they’re rightly pointing out how all of this happened because of failed Democrat leaders.

ANYBODY ELSE SEEING HOW THE HOUSES ARE totally ruined yet the trees are standing?
Many trees in dry areas evolved to be fire resistant. They have resin so they don't catch fire easily.
This happened when half my hometown burned down overnight (Santa Rosa CA Tubbs fire 2017). Trees left standing and randomly dispersed homes were spared in the wreckage. I agree with the above commenter
@@Hedgehobbit great answer. Thank you.
i did not think about that.
Trees contain water. Wood roofs don’t.
How bout don’t build a city in a desert
There’s a video of someone catching the people lighting fireworks, gets their license plate
But miraculously the water is like glass in 80 mph winds so the tanker planes can scoop water....

You know, LA grew organically over the years, that was part of its charm. To rebuild is a pathetic attempt at something that cannot possibly be done. It won’t ever be the same. Newsom and Bass should be held responsible for this.
