Cades Cove is my wife and my favorite place to visit. We go there a few times a year. I have always wanted to camp in there. We have hiked in there a few times and of course explored all the places. I have been going there for 18 years or more. Man that was a pretty good looking meal there.
This is a good recipe for cold weather. So sorry you all had rain. It may put a damper on some things but not when it comes to eating. I always say use what you have on hand when it comes to vegetables! Ok after that hot bowl of goodness its time to hunker down and get toasty! Glad the scenic views were so pretty👍 thanks again for sharing.
I like The GSMNP Elkmont Campground. Usually not as busy as Cade’s Cove & if you’re lucky you can score a site along Little River. The cool river water in Spring & Fall works great to keep drinks chilled.
if you cut the bag opening even on the bag on those remaining noodles...you can use the seal-only option on your vacuum sealer to fully seal it until you are ready to use the rest of them (works for potato chip bags too)
We have a playlist over on the channel page of desserts. The video do not do well on TH-cam for some reason, So I stopped making them. Just click on our picture and that will take you to our channel with 250+ videos. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for this recipe, we tried this tonight and was a big hit. So far we have tried this one and the Italian sausage with cabbage and apples at Red Top Park. Both have been great! Thank you.
Very nice - into every life a little rain must fall . For what it is worth , the camo becomes you ( a long time ago I learned that 10% never get the word 😏 ) Semper Fi
Helped out a really good friend of mine a few years back at a dutch oven cooking contest. The weather was horrible. Lots of rain, temps in the low 40's north wind blowing. We won all three categories. We ended up being the only team due to the weather! We were at the BestLittle Cowboy Gathering in La Grange Texas. Great event. Check it out if you can, might be something to check out sometime Love the video
We've camped for many years and I always had a strong dislike (despised) about being neighbors with folks like you. Now after being under your tutelage, and other great D.O. chefs, for so many years, I'm the despicable one all campers whisper about. It's a win-win situation for me. Thanks, Chef!
When I first read this comment, I didn't know how to take it. After reading it a couple of times I now understand that after watching and learning from our channel, that you are now transforming into the folks that you used to despise because they could cook and eat well in any weather condition in the woods. That is the best compliment that you could give. We have been doing this for 9 years, and rarely get comments that sum up what we are trying to do. Thank you so much for your comments and keep watching.
@@BackwoodsGourmetChannel Sorry for the confusion there. I was trying to make it short and to the point. My main point is everything you do makes me a better outdoorsman from life to cooking; and vice versa. No ill feelings, just giving kudos where they're deserved. Just read previous comments from a few naysayers with pessimistic views and I understand the confusion. Please, keep up the awesome channel, sir.
We love the smokies but we don’t like the crowds, looks like we need to start visiting during colder weather. I hope you guys had a good visit to our awesome state...
We will be back since my youngest son now lives in Knoxville and having a new baby in March. I love TN, but too far from saltwater for me. Thanks for watching.
What a great location. Watch several of ur vids now. Started with the squirrel cooking. Since we doing a catch and cook ourselves. But ended up loving ur channel. So.......U gained a sub from us.
Great quick all in one meal. Like you say you can add what you want and with that dish mushrooms would have set it off. Glad you went to Cades Cove. Hope you went to Gatlinburg and Severville to the Lodge stores.
Instead of shopping at the Lodge stores, we went to some local antiques malls and picked up some new (old) cast iron. Video will be out next weekend. Thanks for watching.
@@terryhenderson101 My son and his wife had a time share between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge until the fire took it. We were there twice and I loved that whole area. Made a tour of Cade's Cove, I even have a book on the history of it. I always made of point of going to the knife works, Lodge, and the kitchen stores.
Welcome to our backyard. My husband and I spent many times up their hiking and bicycling around the cove. Enjoy your channel and recipes. Where is your home? Thanks for a good video.
My aunt and uncle live in tennessee in viola my dad also has a small cabin off grid maybe one day we can get together do some cooking and huntung up there
This is the DO that I recommend for your first one. amzn.to/2BzmLow Here is a video we did a while back one how to season a dutch oven and a first time use. th-cam.com/video/kGyTQOJAsmo/w-d-xo.html
Well I missed the live comments cause I was watching the show LOL still a good video looks like you guys still had some color up there Change came and went fast this year up here in Wisco have a good one.
We could not have timed it more perfectly for the colors. The first time that has ever happened. Thanks for watching and commenting friend. Make sure your notifications are turned on. TH-cam will give you a reminder 30 mins prior.
Just curious. Why do you not level the DO to have an even layer of oil across the pan instead of a puddle to one side. Does it not really matter ? Thanks. My kids were always hoping for a storm when we tent camped in the Sierras. I enjoyed the happiness on there faces when it did rain. That was 25 years ago. The good times. It proves these are the good Ol days. We just don’t realize it Thanks for the adventures.
She was right there with us, but huddled up in the bed in the truck. She does not like cold weather. Thanks for watching and you will be seeing her in upcoming videos from our trip.
It looked like you had no accommodations except outside of your pickup truck and the canopy over your cooking area. I hope you had some place to get out of the rain for the night and sleep comfortably. Mrs. Backwoods isn't going to want to go with you any more if there is no place to sleep comfortably. Wishing you the best.
We both slept very comfortably under the truck topper in 35 degree rainy weather along with the dog. Mrs. Backwoods is tough as me when it comes to camping or surviving.
I commend you for your efforts cooking outside in the rain demonstrating the dutch oven but this is just a home version of hamburger helper.. Not Gourmet.. Full of msg salts, processed carbs, preservatives, GMO grain and heat stressed fats... How about doing something innovative with natural ingredients...

Your food always looks so delicious! As a Boy Scout, I used to make cherry cobbler in the Dutch oven. Wish you would make some deserts.

We always visit Cades Cove while in the Smokies. We rent a cabin in Townsend Tenn., not as busy as Gatlinburg.
Great looking meal! Nothing like camping!
Always go the the Lodge stores in the Smokey Mountain area. Great deals if you look around. Love your videos. Watching from Northern Indiana.
Love your videos. Inspired me to really get into cast iron cooking. Hoping that I get a Dutch oven for Christmas.

Thanks for this recipe, we tried this tonight and was a big hit. So far we have tried this one and the Italian sausage with cabbage and apples at Red Top Park. Both have been great! Thank you.

Whew! I am glad you said you were adding water to the cream of mushroom soup. I thought you were going to waste that Natty Lite.
Great video. Good food, beautiful views & quiet. Heaven. Really Like

We live in Central Florida, but my youngest son mow lives in Knoxville.
I’ve seen plenty of pretty leaves this weekend too. Unfortunately, they’ve been in front of my backpack blower...
Another great video, love seeing the cast iron used.
I'm ready to go camping but have to wait until January because I work retail my hours get cut in January can wait
My aunt and uncle live in tennessee in viola my dad also has a small cabin off grid maybe one day we can get together do some cooking and huntung up there
Good looking grub as always
Very nice scenery...never been. Sucks that it has to rain though. Enjoy. Oh yea looks like some good vittles🤗
We were lucky that it only rained one day out of nine. Thanks for watching.
Been their many a time love it
If you'd like it a bit soupier, would you add more liquid, or add less noodles / panko?
That's good eating
Another great video! I’m about to get my first cast iron Dutch oven. Any tips on breaking it in and what to cook in it the first time?

Backwoods Gourmet Channel I was watching it live but on full screen which made me miss the feedback, that’s cool maybe next time
Better than bouillon is my go to, need to look into the bone broth stuff
I discovered it a few years back and would never go back to the dried bullion cubes. I've been using the lower sodium kind also. Thank for watching.
Definitely. I will never go back to the cubes or powder. So much more flavor with the two alternatives we are discussing

In the mountains it is hard to find a perfectly level spot. Doesn't really matter, still worked great. Thanks for watching.
How do you clean your Dutch ovens out in the field
Looks great !! Where is the ingredients list ??
I missed seeing your fuzzy food inspector- is someone taking care of him at home?
She was right there with us, but huddled up in the bed in the truck. She does not like cold weather. Thanks for watching and you will be seeing her in upcoming videos from our trip.
Who needs reservations, I was on the road for 8 months and only paid $40.00 total for 2 campgrounds
I'm the same as Mrs Backwoods I like peppers and tomatoes but they sure don't like me.
