Wow, that's a great dish I bet. All that fresh goodness combined. Reminds me of when I was 17 and on my own, but I couldn't afford all the time it takes to do it right, and I didnt have a whole lot of money, but somehow I never went hungry for long. My version of this dish was chock-full of nitrates and carbs! Lol.😉 Anyway, I used to buy ranch style beans in a can, get em boiling, then throw a can of Vienna sausage in it and chop up a piece of bacon and stir it in then onion powder and garlic powder to taste, and black pepper then add a couple slices of cheese and some yellow mustard. And it was music to my mouth back then, but it would probably suck in comparison to your dish! Anyway, it was survival food back then and it would stick to my ribs long enough to get through the day. And it was good with a beer! Lol.😉

That‘s how I cut onions a life-long, this way I can dice them into really small pieces, or bigger, if I want. But this is the first time I see it on TH-cam. Thumbs up!👍

Most people only know Frank and beans by the canned version and have no clue how good it could be, cooking as a whole is a lost art, many recipes gone forever

Hi Mr B, I just love beans and franks. So very tasty. Your recipe looks so delicious I can't wait to try it. What a hearty and filling meal. Your the best!! I will make it with some nice old fashioned cornbread with butter and a bit of honey on the side. Can't wait!! My grocery store has foot long Franks that I can buy at the deli counter. A little molasses would be great in the recipe also plus I will use thick cut bacon. I wish they made thick cut turkey bacon because it is more healthful for us.

What is a good sized Dutch oven to use for applications such as this as well as a fish fryer pot? I'd like to get away from my aluminum fry pot.

    • @herschelrowe6026

Carolina cookers have a couple of different size pots with baskets it reality depends on how many people your cooking for by the size pot you need but cast iron is the best when it comes to deep frying

Your right about that cleaver. It was a little dull at the time for tomatoes. I use it a lot, plus these tomatoes this time of year when it is in the 90's have tough skins.

I like your recipe, but putting the beans in salt water is a no-no. Don't salt beans until they have cooked. Otherwise, they will not soften properly during the cooking process.
