Off to buy the next project… 1950 Ford Shoebox💰

- We're going on a road trip to Cape Breton Island (5 hrs away from our shop) to look at a 1950 Ford Shoebox two door sedan. The price is $8,500 obo. The car has a brand new Chevy 350 engine, dual exhaust, new brakes, it runs, drives and stops. There doesn't seem to be any visible rust and the underneath looks near perfect. The only downside is that we'll be arriving in the dark so we're hoping we can get a good look at it to make the right decision on whether we should haul it home 💰

The Shoebox is one of the most customized models Ford ever produced. It will be interesting to see Chad's twist on this one.
I was born in 1950, and growing up the '50 Ford was my favorite car. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I remember back in the '50s (before seat belts or child restraints) I would stand on the seat next to my dad driving. I knew about every car, the models, the engines, etc. I never got over that. Great memories. Have fun with this one. BTW, I really enjoyed the ride along with the both of you. Thanks for sharing. I gotta add, I loved the smile on your face at the very end, so genuine, when you said "I can't wait to customize that bad boy., I cannot wait." So cool.
When i was in the first grade my dad was in the navy. We traveled all the way across the country (US) coast to coast in a shoe box. Quite the trip with four kids. 👍👍
Checked the body mounts this time !!! 😆 🤣 😂
Chad & Jolene thank you for taking us along on your journey. I can't wait to see what you do with it as far as I am concerned those shoe box Fords need all the beautifying they can get! I will be back tomorrow to find out what your plans are. Jolene great camera work as always, especially dealing with the pitch black!
The sound of the air being sucked into the carburetor brings back memories to me of working with my dad on old cars.😊😊😊
Great idea starting with a solid runner that drives good and it sounds awesome, looking forward to this one.
In the 80’s I had a RHD ‘49 single spinner here in Australia . Loved that car. Just simple modifications - paint (cherry red), a 302ci/auto, big wheels, bucket seats, quick shifter and some gauges.
Wow! Sure Brings Back Memories! My First Car Was A 1950 Ford 2 Door. 63 Years Ago! I Can't Even Remember What Engine Was In It!
Chad, hope you bring that puppy home and do “your” thing and piss off all the people that have nothing good to say. But you know those viewers keep coming back to watch so you must be doing something positive. 👍
Right
You got that right. !!
I just wanna see a car turned into something useless
So by getting a reaction is something positive, so the Island Boys were good by your example .
It's going to get a chop , it's all he knows , I'm looking forward to seeing it half finished .
He screwed the 38 ford up
Buying a car at night ......what could possibly go wrong !!!!!!!!
I can't believe that you would drive that far, know that its going to be dark, and you don't bring a good flashlight.
Cant wait to see what Chad does with it. My first car was a 1950 Ford club coupe. Flat head V8, overdrive, scavenger pipes and cherry bombs. I loved it.
This guy that lives about 2 hour's drive from me has a 1954 2 door wagon for sale, it already had some Kustom work done to it air bags shaved door handles that turn me off missing the door handles. Has all the chrome not on it. Chevy 350- 350 tranny asking $ 9,000k I think is kinda to high and I think it's missing the back window because I never seen it up on any of the many picture's.
i had a 51 ford victoria all white orig cherry interior.
Lovely Chad nice 6 inch roof chop and a lovered bonnet ,louvered boot lid (trunk) satin black paint job with chrome and red wheels and white wall tyres and last but not least side pipes.......yesssssssss . All the best Steve from Wales GB.........
Thanks To Mr Bad Chad for being yourself and doing what you want to do on these cars because there all unique in there own way every build that I have seen you show on here .and thanks to Queen Jolene for being a great wife to him by supporting him us guys when we have someone that cares as much as you do we really greatly appreciate it so thanks Queen Jolene for being yourself also love this channel and seeing you guys all the way from Louisiana would love to meet you guys one day and maybe get me a hotrod to go to shows in
Enjoyed the scenery.
Looking forward to this project as well 👍🏻
What ya bet the roof will be chopped, and the car will lowered and no corrosion will be removed only covered up.
Chad thinks he has the right to say he was con¨d on a car he bought earlier this yr,,These cars start out as works of art from the past, and quickly turned into rolling junk,I have not seen him paint anything since leaving discovery channel. hand painting ...lol Cḿon man
It's like the smaller 50 Mercury version! I can see you doing something with the panel work and chopping it. Then again you have a time limit on what you do with it. Oh plus running and driving is a plus👍🏽
I like it when you take us on a road trip 👍
And looking forward to seeing the shoebox unfold in your unit
All the best guys ❤❤
Wow what a ride and on the other side of that big mountain by the causeway, there’s a great big hole in the ground from an open pit mining and the causeway water is one of the deepest water ways in the world . And I live around 40 minutes away from where you where
When a car exceeds your expectations, and you know it could get a higher price eventually, give the man his full price, and a $500 bonus for his humility. You can afford it, and he needs the money. You'll never regret that. Whereas if you push someone down below what it is worth, you get to regret that later as a cheat, jipster, unfair, taking advantage of others.
Chop 😎the top this is what shoe box ford NEEDS so bad chopping top makes this car so much better. I when I was kid in the late 60’s my mom and dad bought a 49 ford in sealed bid sale and won it for $150 it was a light green seems like a million years ago man this car is pretty clean it sounds great 👍 this seller sure seems like really honest and up front about the car flaws I don’t know many people would go do as much he doing putting on the lift so you could check it out 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏can’t wait to see how hiltz auto co awesome score ps wide white walls tires 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
A classic candidate for the 'Bad Chad' treatment AND like the '38, you're starting with a solid driver.
Cant wait to see y'all dive in on this one...👍🏁
I've gotten used to cars being a little cheaper in canada. 8,500 to asking price for this car would be on the high side here. Thanks for showing that's beautiful scenery as you drove
I can see BAD Chad's brain going oboy new adventure. He doesn't care what the negative people say. 😂😂😂It will be sweet sweet when done. Can't wait
Hi
I am a big fan of what you do. You and Joline ar perfekt combinstion. I will follow your next car .
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Sven'Eric Samdin
I am from Heldingborg its in the South of Swrden
Damm , that turned out seet ❤with I could get my hands on that,, the things I would do,,, retired all I get to do is watch, thanks for a great show
Hey Chad, I am retired at 63 years old, I have a 2000 Ford Ranger xlt truck with the 4 cyl. engine and 167,000 miles. It gets 20 mpg in the city. I drive about 10 miles a day on average, so that's 70 miles a week, and I spend $12 a week for 4 gallons of gas, for a total of $48 a month.
I hope he doesn't cut this one up. I'd like to see him fix this one up and make a nice car out of it. Please Chad don't cut this one up. God bless and have a blessed night to you and Jolene
I hope he chops it. That's what he does. He doesn't do restoration. He does custom fab. That's what his channel is about.
Chads already dreaming, she’s going in for the full chopperty chop for sure.
Hope you do a better job looking at this one than the last one. Being in the dark is your 1st red flag. Why? 😂
Sweet! Can’t see what magic you’ll do to it! I’m in the middle of a frame off ‘49 chopped/shaved/frenched shoebox myself. Only wish I had your skills!
Should be intresting how long before ppl are kicking of because chad wants to build his way
EXACTLY what I thought....then wanna praise him when it's done....lol....Let's see what happens, huh?
That's all some people come here for. It's insane, because it's not like Chad is doing anything different than he ever has. What's weird is Full Custom Ian does the same type of stuff and I've never seen negative comments on his TH-cam.
Sorry Chad but you’ll screw it up know no matter what you do.
It will end up in the big shed with all the others he can`t sell.
Looks like a pretty good car it will be interesting what Chad will do with it I’m sure it will be cool whatever he does to it
Nice car for great new build, you were in my neck of the woods, probably within 30 minutes from where I live depending on exactly where you were. I don’t know the people who bought it off of. The snowy area you talked about on porcupine mountain is a quarry at the Canso Causeway, where they crush rock ( construction Aggregate) and ship it all over. The rock was also used to build the Causeway when it opened back in 1955,back when your new build was actually new lol.
$8,500 Canada Dollars equals
$6,343.55 United States Dollars
I think they agreed on $7 CAD which would be $5,226.72 US
Great deal Champ! 😉✌
Ho yeah, that bad boy sounds awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys can do with this beauty.
Crop em & chop em, here we go... 👏
Great Score for a pretty clean car! The floor + frame look super solid. A V-8 will fit in nicely? A rag top chop + dog banqette for Fima in the back seat with a picnic basket in the trunk. Lots of Potential + Possibilities with this baby!
has the sbc chevy in it already,it came with the flat head ford v8.
Second good runner. Smart buying em road ready, saves a lot of work and gets ya right to the part your a master at.
That car is selling for a dern good price even as it is, for the asking price it's a deal. It's in decent shape. I can't wait to see this thing customized either Chad, This car model has been customized quite a bit throughout its history probably more than any other car. That's what I've heard through the years don't know how true that is, but that's the rumor.
Back probably 40 years ago, Hot Rod magazine had one of these chopped, channeled and sectioned to look like a modern car. I thought it was pretty cool.
I would chop it and do a slick pre-teen paint job.
Will chat I don't think you went wrong by that one that's for sure cuz I got the wedge in it 383 🎉or the 413🎉 or is it one of the old 360 wide block😊
Myself I always loved the 1951coupemy dad had one he sold it before I was old enough to get it from him
Full 1960s custom !!!! Fender skirts and frenched lights !!! George Barris style. Chop top !! Do it up Chad !!!!
Frenched head lights for sure! What a difference My Dad has one chopped and rear quarters have been flared awesome car!
Love the 38, you have done a great job love the rustic look. great work on the camera Jolene! Doug & Nate are a great help, love the banter between them.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lloyd from OZ
That would make a great jet ski hauler, that's never been done
Nice, I also have a 50' 2dr Custom still with the Flathead V8
My cousin had one in the Late 60's ! Great cars ! Rare to see lately !
Nice car. 😎👍
I can't wait to see how you customize it
Chad and jolene I can't wait to see what you can do with this car it looks like a good project to have picked up. Keep up the great work both of you 👏 👍
I already like the five star hubcap in the grille instead of the bullit
I seen a really nice 4 door 52 Ford, I know it's a 4 door but it's really original and runs and all the parts are there the price is right. The only thing it's 4 hour's away from me that means 8 hour's driving up and back. The price is right I'm really surprised no one has snatched up just because of the price even if it's a 4door. It could always be drevin as a daily driver.
Nothing says gasser like a 1950 ford shoebox
👍🏻 that’s cool and all…. but I wouldn’t mind seeing Elvis and the Dodge and some of the other projects getting some love
i luv these shoboxes. let's see what the bad boy can do with it to make it unique...
Only thing he knows is to chop roof off on ruins the cars
Yay! New project 👍 wonder what sort of Chadification it's gonna get! Go for it Chad 👁 🐅 👍👌
That is a nifty fifty, classic Ford.
@@antoniocovarrubias7831 sure is 👍😎👌
And meanwhile it chads 🌎 their are plenty of PROJECTS he has started but never FINISHED
A better question than where will everyone plug in with EVs might be how will you tow a trailer and 50 Ford home with an EV? Towing greatly reduces range (from 200+ miles to
Nice tour of the Shoebox, Look Forward to the Project.
I am sure you will do something unlike all the others out there. Two ways to go, vintage custom hot rod or lead sled cruiser. Dark colors like midnight blue.
Paying with a cheque… a sign of times gone by. Love the trust and honesty of east coast Canada!
Add a wheel chair lift and make it handicap accessible. Or make it into a wheel chair hauler. Strap the wheel chair to the back with the person in it.
Well, in Australia 🇦🇺 our mains electricity is 240 volt , so with Electric vehicles you can recharge at home. But the infrastructure for recharge stations are being slowly rolled out.
That’s a beautiful country you pass by,
That was my first car when I was 16 years old i always love the 50 ford How much would you take when your done with it I am 85 and woundering
Nice ride can't wait to see what you guy's come up with!!!!!
Best part of this one is the Chevy small block lol. The rest of it, the more custom work on the body the better it will be.
Chad, ebay list? those unwanted throw away parts restores might need, would help towards your to & from new project trip expenses [gas etc.]
Chad and Jolene Definitely a good honest 50 Ford and two gentlemen sold that Car they were straight up Very KOOL
Loving the bennyhill end
I'm Disappointed in Your decision not to work on The Doodle Bug or T-Bird or Bugatti !!!!!!!!!☹
Chop Chop Chop!! Never second guessing you again, Chad. Last car was RAD!
Make sure your brakes are top notch for the Cabot Trail drive!
Born and raised in good old cape Breton living in Ontario now . cape Breton has a lot of great hot roders When you go to do the trail check the local market place 👍👍
Its always fun to ride along with you and Jolene it interesting to lessen to your conversations
My favorite childhood dream car! Git er done!
Great work don't get mad but I would love to see you work on the Bugatti. I know your busy but I love the work so far and I'm anxious to see more progress. I'm to your channel but love what I see you are an artist. It's amazing what you do I have learned a TON Thanks keep it up love the content ❤️
Nice car, just excited to see the next transformation, great camera job Jolene!
Definitely watching this build. We’d like to get a shoe box ford too
Nice car! Thanks for taking us along.
Ohh I'm excited for this one, I have a 52 ford so I'm interested to see what you do with it!
Nice car, she needs hair cutting, suspension lowering, color change, and converting to two doors coup. Thanks Chad
Looks pretty solid, always hidden surprises so let's deal obo!
Well now, this otta be fun. I like the star in the grill bar, kinda kool, seems to be in fair shape. Hi Jolene. Be well.
My brother had a ‘50. He called it Boney Maroney
Car came out nice, roof should be painted, would enhance the looks alot
The best paint job for that car is burgundy.
Let's see more of FINA, what a wonderful dog .Just follows you guys around .
That pup sure was ready to reach home. Lol. Not the car. The dog 😄
The self-unloader ship is called the Algoma Integrity. I've been working for this company as a Navigation Officer for over 20 years.
Love me some OLINE 49 51 ford shoeboxes BAD CHAD SWEET JOLENE great buy can.t wait for this transformation either winner winner
It looks nice the way it looks just don't overdo it with modifications lol
Cool, now we know what it is and now to wait and see what happens
Chad, the only thing you did wrong is not get a meal at the Aulds Cove Big Stop (Irving restaurant right before the causeway). Of course you didn't do wrong, but that place has been a treat for decades. That location pretty much invented the Big Stop. Keep it in mind for the next time. 🙂
Never understood why people don't make their trailer ramps wider
Nice car, Hope you get it better soon,
Regards
Love the work you do and enjoy your videos, but tired of previous projects not being finished. There are 6 that I can remember, including the 38 Ford you just "completed". I thought that was going to be really cool what you did, then you painted it with a brush and left the top rusted as well as other rust areas. Good luck with your future projects and so sorry to unsubscribe. I am a person that finishes what I start and it is hard to not see these cool projects finished. Sorry.
