I love how Kirk exhibits Japanese mannerism there. Way to represent foreigners.
Thanks 😊
The Japanese generally expect people who visit their country to conduct themselves with decorum and politeness. It's a self-policing society. 💯
Wow! Bring that thing in the North America. First Class guys.
I wish they bring some of this styling to North American. The front end is better looking than the Lexus LX with the weird front grill.
I don't know man, that grill is very evocative of the Lincoln Navigator to me.
Say what you will about Lexus, but you can easily recognize them, they stand out in a crowd.
I love how not every luxury or premium Toyota is a Lexus
Lexus was just created for Americans because they say "too expensive for a Toyota". They pay more for image and brand than actual product. Same for genesis, infiniti etc.
@@MrRaitzi at least Lexus is the most Japanese out of the 3 luxury brands since they’ve been sold in japan since 2005
@@ameraboukoura6091I think they are selling those since the 90s.

In my opinion, the Toyota century is absolutely breathtaking🇯🇵❤️🤍⭐️
Yes... to the Japanese. However, the Century can not really be appreciated in the U.S. market. That's why it's not exported to any other country. Especially at the estimated $170,000 price tag. 😊
The Century is absolute legend. Very nice car.
As Toyota has made clear, this is not an SUV, but a next-generation sedan. The small interior, parts borrowed from other models, the small luggage room mainly for storing golf bags, and the built-in Blu-ray player are all designed to be user-friendly and are in line with Japanese culture, making them ideal for the domestic market. It is clear that the focus is on
Totally agree. Just like you wouldn't call a Range Rover an SUV.
@@ronaldhitchings1847 A Range Rover is an SUV no matter who you look at it. Toyota positions the Century as a sedan because it always has four seats, and the luggage compartment and rear seats are completely separated by an inner rear window. In terms of the fact that there is no inner windowless specification, you can see that it is a completely different genre from Cullinan, which has both options.
Uh...it's called a crossover. It's not a sedan by any stretch.
You’re right about them knowing their market for this, but this is not a sedan. Toyota calling it a next-generation sedan doesn’t make it one. The cargo configuration, tailgate operation, and the shape and volume of this vehicle makes this a crossover. No one in their right mind would look at this and think sedan. “Next-generation sedan” just sounds like a nice way of saying the sedan class is going away, generally speaking, and this is what we have created to replace it.
@@ronaldhitchings1847what the fuck?? Who and where did that come from?? People don’t call a Range Rover an SUV?!?? Range Rover is 100% a SUV. Unless you’re talking about the Evoque?? Because yeah that could be considered a crossover, but it’s just a mini SUV. Saying Range Rovers aren’t SUV’s was probably the dumbest thing I’ve seen someone say. This Century is obviously an SUV. Now the new Toyota Crown is an evolution of the Sedan that’s taller. Basically an SUV, but form factor of a Sedan.
Never seen Mr. Chao so excited to see a car. Century must be special.
Great coverage of show , you two should team up again. Love David speaking with the representative in Japanese.
Absolutely gorgeous. 😍Kirk and David, your presentation style just gets better and better. Kirk, have David let you try Japanese Kit Kat and melon flavored Fanta.
I don't compare Rolls-Roy😍, Bentley😍, or Maybach😍. Toyota builds SUV-like Century😍. That's all. All high-end luxury SUVs are gorgeous, magnificent, and irresistible to their taste. The question is, will Toyota export it globally? If they would, will Century be sale under the Toyota or Lexus?🤔
Japan-only. 30 units per month. Toyota confirmed.
Please note that the Century (be it sedan or SUV version) does not compete directly with Rolls Royce or Bentley because the Century has its own class, that's why the Century is only exclusively and officially in Japan and not just anyone can buy it. It's true that the Century used to have a rival, namely the Nissan President, but that car has been discontinued by Nissan so only the Century itself is left in that class.
The Century has never been exported. Never will be.
i heard that they want to sell this SUV in China
Thank you kirk and david for reviewing the century SUV, you guys are the best 🙏🙏
Awesome
LEXUS 👌❤

CENTURY 🥰👍
This is nice...😍
I wish Toyota would make the century SUV for America.
Toyota doesn't call it an SUV. Like you wouldn't call a Range Rover an SUV. The Century is not exported to any other country. Never has been... never will be.
I prefer the sedan version. I don’t like the Genesis-esque split headlights. the sedan has a more regal look.
Naveenthemachine died of heart attack.😂
This is just the very best man 🥰🥰 There's something about the passion put into the Toyota Century that I just LOVE ❤️🥰
I like the second glass panel at the back, seem the first idea to build that
Just like Toyota you guys are on a roll!!😂😂
That vehicle looks superb, would love one. But I don't really need one just yet. Great review you two!!
I saw a Toyota Century sedan last month in Osaka for the first time...I was blown away by the elegance and sophistication. It was a work of art.
This Century doesn't recall the previous designs and it's so big. The interior is amazing though!
Just like 2 kids in a candy shop lol….enjoy guys and thx for the content!
If you paid me to go to this motor show, I would gush over all these vehicles. Some popular auto reviewers on youtube get subsidized to go to these auto shows. Now the Century will be produced. Only available in Japan. However, many of the other vehicles he's been swooning over will never see the light of day. That's why they are called concept cars. Before you say I'm jealous, I lived in Japan for three years. So I kind of know what I'm talking about. 😊
Hello David great job beautiful car Toyota is the best 😍
Kudos to David for asking the camerawoman to come closer when showing the grill in details. That what was I thinking, too. What gorgeous grill on the Century SUV.
Ma Toyota est fantastique
Magnificent car!
that is the Rolls-Royce of Japan?

The Century is way better build than the RR and Bentley.

Yes, the Toyota Century. I just imported a 1997 six months ago.
Thanks!
Thanks for the super thanks 🙏❤️
Nice car
I don't understand why the lx600 cant have this treatment i mean that electrochromatic glass is pretty insane.
Yeah its be amazing if the LX got any of this amount of care, not handbuilt ofc but just equal quality in materials, design and the build quality that's apparent.on the outside of Century SUV
@@megatronusorionpax4900 yeah it would have been crazy in the LX too, I mean if it actually had that type of interior it would have something to prove to it's competitors

This is not a consumer vehicle. It's basically a Japanese limousine, designed with Japanese tastes in mind. That's why it has never been exported. Never will be.
Is there going to be a left hand drive version?
No... the Century is not exported to any other country. Never has been, never will.
Do we know if we will be getting this State Side?????
6:17 Same hood release as my 95 ls400!
Does it have a 2.4 l turbo 4 cylinder?😊
U2 make the perfect team
Will it be available in left hand drive? Who can answer this question?
You don't hear that everyday when people say buying a Lexus for half the price of a Toyota..
Could this compete against the maybach gls
Probably not. The Century is more in tune with elegant minimalist Japanese design culture. Whereas, the Maybach would appeal more to European tastes.
i wonder if they have an armoured version
I suppose you could custom order one like that. Japan is probably one of the few countries where armor plating is not really needed.
Is there an option of a gold Phoenix like the Century sedan has?
That's a good question. Perhaps Toyota doesn't want the new Century to have any resemblance to the Sedan.
@@ronaldhitchings1847 But isn't the gold Phoenix THE badge for the century? No matter if sedan or SUV?
But you could be right 🤔
The century is an iconic vehical the original century was a classic. I wish i could get my hands on one. This new century is definitly a departure from the old and seems very intuitive but more driver focused. Of course the passengers are considered heavily but its obvious the driver is being considered more with this one. The original had more acomodation for the passengeres and gave little to the driver.
I would love to know how heavy this SUV is. It's got to be at least two thousand kilos. It bieuteful equipped machine.
I would love to see Toyota import the Century SUV, Land Cruiser 70, and the new RWD Crown Sedan under something like the "Heritage Series Collection". In limited numbers they would instantly sell out. Minus the LC 70, this would make Lexus look bad however so it will never happen. A crying shame.
I'd take this over a Cullinen or Maybach for a daily driver, multi-millionaire style.
how to buy in india?
Too bad it won’t be available in America
Why not real wood accents on the door inserts? I want to see basically a burl walnut cabinet. You can keep the accent lighting.
Is this also a Range Rover competitor
It's not meant to compete with any other vehicle since it's not exported to any other country. The vehicle's design culture is most attractive to Japanese tastes.
Wow tons of new videos with @AutomotivePress Great collab!!
Some people are confused about Century, so I'll explain. The Century is just a car made for the Japanese Imperial Family. So they are just selling it for the sake of it, and they are not really trying to beat Rolls-Royce.
Kirk, Was there a Buick Century or Regal on hand for a direct comparison? 🤔😉
Hahah nope but crown sport and crown sedan made it there
@@KirkKreifels 😁
Ah, so it will be all "SUV"? Thought it´s just another model in the Century lineup.
I can imagine the slower soft closing comes maybe from the Japanese liking.
The gradient grill of Lexus RX makes more sense since it’s more seamlessly connected to the hood panel. This has a properly defined grill but with the gradient which makes zero sense.
The front reminds me of a Chevrolet Avalanche
Perhaps. But this front end is hand fabricated, as is much of the Century. Nothing in common with any SUV. Toyota says this is not an SUV. Just like you wouldn't call a Range Rover an SUV. The Century adheres to elegant minimalist Japanese design culture.
A hundred thousand dollars easily
You would be a little bit off. These are made to order. So average price will be around $170,000 and can only go up. That is based on the Sedan's average price.
Can I have it?
No...put a shirt on. 😂
You said you’ve never seen electrochomatic windows on a Toyota or Lexus but I’m pretty sure it comes on a venza.
No
I said I haven't seen it on side windows. RZ, venza have it for sunroof
sendan to bovine
Check the prices tag on a used century 😂😂😂 I love em but I'd rather buy land and build on it. Drives like a champ tho.
Why is this Japan-only? German luxury cars made everyone in America prefer obnoxious and flashy.
Well American want fake brands like Lexus, Infiniti, Acura and Genesis before they pay that much for "a Toyota"
No close look of buttons or material. Rather they are enjoying car.
I’m a Toyota fanboy but the powertrain is underwhelming, I was expecting at least a v8 option
I love this car, but there is one single thing I do not like. This is the powertrain. I think they could have make it like 530 hp, because at this price you should get more than 409 hp. I mean this is like the Bentley of the Japanese, or the Rolls-Royce of the Japanese, and both cars have above 500 hp.
Too many people talking over each other. Anyway, it looks like a truck. I hope it has rear wheel steering. The steering console would be nice if it didn't have the big shifter in the way. Manufacturers are moving away from that unnecessary placement to clear up a lot of useful space.
Such a beautiful vehicle. Pity it is based on a Rav4 platform than a more premium one.
If was 30cm longer was more beautiful and more space for back sites
Not a fan of the capacitive hvac panel. Hopefully there is a lower trim with hard buttons, it would not be hard to implement because it’s still its own separate panel, unlike in many Lexuses
There is no way I am going to pay $170,000 for that! No way! You might as well buy a horse!
Kirk lookin annoyed of the "engineer" with a plastic gap measurer
“Nano x-filtration technology“ what ?
Why can’t Lexus have this stuff ???
Because century is above lexus in toyota grub , thats why century only for high position japanesse ppl
This is not a consumer vehicle. It's basically a Japanese limousine. Even if there was a Lexus version, would you really want to pay $170,000 for it? Mute point anyway. The Century has never been exported. Never will be.
@@ronaldhitchings1847 from what i heard that there is some ppl who imported century sedan but only 10 units in south east asia and RHD only but with high prize
@@ronaldhitchings1847 but its not officially imported
I think the new platforms are showing a limitation in the ability to make super premium luxury vehicles.
Really wonder what is stopping them from using the TNGA-L platform. Is it that expensive? They are milking the TNGA-K platform for everything from a Camry to a Century 🤦🏻♂️
@@kl01af6940 I think because they know the formula for what consumers consider luxury they are trying to lower expectations for what "luxury" is with the goal of cutting their manufacturing costs, the problem is that it doesn't hold up well in comparison tests, this is why you can look back in certain industries and can recognize industry lows by seeing bad products
Maybe its just me but i got genesis vibes, not in a good way though
Even though it’s a car out of my price range, of course it’s another cool car that the US doesn’t get because everyone here are obsessed with either trucks or small cross overs. 🙄 not to mention Americans won’t understand what the Century is and the only thing they’ll say is “who would pay $170k for a Toyota” lmao
Toyota paid copyright to rolls Royce 😂😂
Bro its painful to watch you interrupt David. I understand it’s your channel. But why have him there if you are not letting him give his imput.
We both interrupt each other throughout all our videos at JMS. We'll get better if we're to keep collaborating in the future.

Did he say better then Lexus? Lexus is Toyota. They call it Lexus in America but it is Toyota.
they have lexus in japan,, its a higher end toyota, they started selling in like 2010
That's more of like a lifted wagon I'm sold not for 170k though more like 80k reasonably missed opportunity not making the front center console a full integrated digital display in replacement of the 12 inch screen🤔
Ok I get that this is at a show, and meant to be on display for people to come look at, touch, and get inside… but the way the old Asian dude is touching this car is just making me nervous/uncomfortable. Creepy ass

Rolls Royce Cullinan
Rolls Royce Cullinan knockoff!!
You date a model, bring this to get her, and she will say: "Are you kidding? I will not go in a fu-ing Toyota!". Women…
Kirk I don't trust your reviews you're just a Toyota fanboy
Not a fan of the Buick Century name.
Rubbish camera man/woman… it could have been filmed so much better!
Disagree. I'm so grateful for our camera operator during JMS. Our coverage wouldn't of happened without their help.
It's youtube. Not a motion picture.
$170K and it has that janky outdated tiny infotainment screen 😂
This is not considered a consumer model. In most situations, a chauffeur would be driving the Century. Elegant minimalism dominates the Japanese culture. That's why the Century would never be popular in the U.S. Not to mention the $170,000 average price. Like the Sedan version, the new Century is well thought out.
@@ronaldhitchings1847 I don’t know I see more Rolls Royce Cullinan owners driving them than getting chauffeured and they’re twice the price but overall I’m just surprised it has a crappier infotainment screen than the 2024 Tacoma
