12:30 yeah, I have a friend who’s like, *really* Christian, (dw he’s getting more chill) and we were talking one day, and he tells me that suicidal thoughts come from the devil because that’s how he steals people’s souls. I did not argue with him too much for reasons that I will not say, but it did feel like blaming the devil for suicidal thoughts is just another way you can blame a societal issue on some all powerful evil entity, rather than looking at what really causes those issues in people.
Christianity says that anything not of God is of the Devil and God is all good so those thoughts can't come from God.
As a Muslim suicide is forbidden because Allah gave you the gift of life but you just take your gift away. So if you feel suicidal pls find help.

My top 2 weird church moments:
1. I was visiting family in a rural area and went with them to their church, at the beginning of the service the preacher told men to hug their wives, and he prayed about having love and respect in marriage..not too weird right?..but then he asked for all _unmarried women_ in the church to raise their hand, naturally, I thought, "hell no, I don't know these people", then he asked the men of the church to _stand around_ these women and pray for them. Like what the fuqq?! It was so creepy.
2. I grew up going to a relatively progressive baptist church, however one day a lady there told my mother that my favourite T-Shirt was "demonic". (A white shirt with two chinese dragons on it, they were red (symbolises good luck and fortune) and green/blue (symbolises new beginnings and spring)) and made her feel "bad energy". She told my mother that she should _burn_ my t-shirt. I was quite rightly horrified and refused, my father also told my mother the lady was speaking nonsense. I'm autistic and I tend to wear the same thing most days because specific clothes don't have scratchy tags and feel comfortable on my body. This was my all time *favourite* Tshirt, it was soft, oversized and I thought the print was super cool. The matter seemed to be closed until about a week later that tshirt went missing. For weeks I was looking for it. Turns out my mom had burned it when I was at school. I was so so upset and angry with her when I found out. She promised she would buy me a new tshirt but I didn't want that. To this day I don't think she has apologised to me for lying to me for so long and burning my favourite shirt.
I think that was also around the time I slowly had started to buy and wear more gender neutral clothes. I am very comfortable in my identity as a women, but I greatly prefer wearing more masc clothing. The day I cut my hair short you could hear my mother's heart break. She's been very passive agressive about my hair for the longest time. I think her throwing out my tshirt was less about it being demonic, and more about her wanting me to present more femme because those are the standards her mother ingrained into her when she was young.
Safe to say, and especially after starting to actually _read_ the bible, I am not a Christian anymore. I still want to finish the book, because I'm taking notes on what good and bad messages it has and want to be able to answer people's questions when they inevitably grill me on why I left the faith.
i really hate that "demonic" is considered bad. i never held the belief that demons are bad. i always thought they could be good and bad

I thought that it was normal to teach Christianity, Judaism, Islam, old norse (maybe not old norse), Hinduism, Buddhism and Greek/Roman mythology (maybe not those either). But still, only one?!

Not only America, in my country (Brazil) we only learn a bit about Christianity (a bit because we already learn these things naturally outside school since it’s such a majorly christian country) and a bit about Islamism (but even that depends on the school)
I'm from Greece and we learn mostly about Christianity and in the entirety of our religion books there's only like 4 pages on Judaism (if I remember correctly) and how could we not learn about the ancient ones. But still, I really wish they could teach us about other ones too
im american and i got taught basically everything besides greek stuff
i guess it is depends on which school you’re taught in
We save those for college and they aren’t mandatory 😒😒
Just to clarify in Sweden social studies is separated into four different subjects that we have for one quarter of the year each, those being history, geography civics and religion with us learning about new religions each year and eventually we learn about ethnics and morality in our last two years of religion on top of other religions.

It only makes people more hostile to our religion, and what’s worse hurts them. Many christians would agree with me, and i believe that anyone, no matter of religion, no matter of sexuality, no matter of beliefs, should be respected and accepted as long as they don’t hurt anyone.
ABSO-freaking-LUTEY this exactly how Christ wants us to do.
Jesus of Nazareth was an ascetic storyteller who wandered around with his best friends preaching about love and good vibes, and was executed by the state for it because they wanted war and vengeance instead.
A true "Christian" should remember that.

There are times it seems like they agree and other times it seems like they don't though. Idk how to explain it. Mostly my father and brother
Respect people yes... Even accept people i agree but never accept sin...
As a Christian, I do not want to be associated with toxic and bigoted people. God told us to love thy neighbour, which includes people from the LGBTQ+ community, meaning that Christians should also love and respect them. As someone who believes in the New Testament, I think God is a loving and merciful God, meaning he will no longer call for anyone’s sacrifice. I believe that it’s disgusting when people use Christianity as an excuse to be cruel. Bigots who say they are doing cruel things “for God” are misusing God for their own agenda and are the farthest people from what God wants them to be. God wants us to practice compassion and kindness, not cruelty.
we are called to deny ourselves still. We ALL need to repent because everyone has sinned, and we ARE guilty. But God gave His only-begotten Son so we can be forgiven and live in His grace
You have to be careful. God is a God of love, yes. But he is also a God of justice. And he does not take willful sinning lightly, his son died for those sins after all. While we are not called to hate anyone we are still called to preach his word. Which isn’t an easy task and can sometimes be painful but we as Christians HAVE to tell the truth that’s our purpose. To tell someone a lie simply because it’ll hurt less is inherently selfish and dooming them to hell. How can they accept Christ if they don’t know who he truly is? It’s nothing but surface level, shallow, likeness and that will not get them closer to God.
@@cosmic_seabunny*I'd avise you to learn what is actually your responsabbiolity and what yyou liiike to imply is just so yyiu can execute such actions under the excuse of your faith, I've seen way tol many sin while under the belief that they are doing God's work. DO NOT BE A NUISANCE*
@@Jahito_EBT sorry to sound rude. But what I’m saying is the truth. If we all really talking about the same God (the God of the Bible) then what people are saying about sexual immorality and idolatry being okay is most certainly a sin. Jesus and Paul both state so in the New Testament.
It’s one thing to preach love and forgiveness but it’s an entirely different thing to blasphemy God’s words and laws and call it okay. That’s only misinformation, that’s misrepresenting God.
And I am truly sorry if I sounded rude or uncaring but how else am I supposed to respond whenever a supposed Christian, someone who is supposed to be my brother in Christ and help the church, is too busy focusing on being liked and having their sinful struggles being seen as acceptable just because they can’t understand why God says it’s wrong.
You can live your life however you want, that is a God given freedom. But don’t expect God to condone your actions and behavior simply because he loves you.
@cosmic_seabunny *that's the thing, it's God's place to do the judging, not Yours. Too many of you need to remember that. You can just as easily live your life without speaking for God. Those who want his teachings will seek them. Those who don't will only further reject them. Not to mention the minor sins many people, yourself included, commit on a daily basis, as formentioned in this very video. So unless you are following every single rule in the bible to a T at all times, and are praying or forgiveness every single time you sin, I suggest you use that time you preach, to follow the rules you preach*
I went to an Episcopalian K-8 school in California, and we learned about the 5 major religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity) in 6th grade and were were also taught about Confucianism, Unitarianism, and Taoism during our ancient China unit. Of course we all knew the *most* about Christianity, but we still knew information about other religions. We also had a faith and ethics class where we had to research 5 new religions we didn’t know about, so my private school was pretty good about teaching religion. Also was accepting of LGBTQIA+ (I was the only openly queer student there, but hey, it counts)
in the uk the curriculum teaches us about many religions all the way through
in germany, we have two classes that are taught: religion and ethics. surprisingly, religion only focuses on either catholic or evangelical christianity, while ethics class goes into so many things, such as like the main five religions, cults etc. in my area, there were only a handful of students in my entire school that chose religion class.

My least favorite thing about religious people is when they don't seem to understand how mfn insensitive they are sometimes. I recently lost my daughter. She was 8 years old. I'm also trans and grew up in a southern Baptist home. They went from telling me I am an "abomination unto the lord" to trying to now trying to be comforting me by telling me it's all part of some unknown plan or that her suffering was "fine because she is with the lord now". Id rather them go back to calling me an abomination. It hurts less.. I am Catholic, and I feel bad seeing so many Catholics and Orthodox being misogynistic, racist or prejudiced.
The Bible literally preaches to love our neighbor.
One thing I learned by watching and listening to the words and actions of my Grandparents (they’re Christian), is that not all Christians read the Bible. Many just take what their pastor says as fact and then don’t do any further readings or self interpretations. Meaning that if the pastor is bigoted, there is a high chance that they’ll teach bigotry to their congregations.
I came to this conclusion because I believe that if they had read the Bible -or maybe they did read it but not in a long time and have forgotten it’s scripture- then their behaviors would be very different.
Now it’s a few years later and I don’t live with my grandparents anymore, and I’ve deconstructed to be an Atheist. I think that their at times ungodly behaviors and their persecution of others are was what started me on this path. Honestly though, I am a lot happier now, meaning that at least one good thing came from their unnecessary hatred of others. “Inspiration saying about clouds and everything else having silver linings goes here”
It was also eye opening when they started acting prejudice towards me when I told them I was an Atheist recently. “We raised you better than that,” and “you’re turning you back to morality and reason,” and a bunch of other stuff.
Finally a comment that addresses the problem and doesn’t dismisses Christianity for other peoples mistakes.

There is a HUGE difference between "teaching religion in schools" and teaching about the historical and social significance of religions in schools. Learning a little bit about some influential religions makes sense, but teaching "all religions" to students would be such a massive waste of time.
You take things literally too literal because obviously they mean the most popular ones that hold the most significance and entire peoples lives. And what you’re describing is already taught in schools.
@ottoottobutbackwards8657 I know they don't mean literally mean teaching thousands of religions to students. But even if you picked out the top 3 or so religions and taught those, it would still be a waste of time. No religion should be taught in schools. Only the historical and social significance of religions from a secular perspective should be taught.
I'm aware that both of the things I'm describing are taught in schools now. A good history curriculum teaches about religion's relevance to history, and there are schools like Christian private schools that actually teach the religion itself. I agree with one and not the other.
They should teach about all of its crimes instead

"I go to sunday school once a year therefore i can speak on this topic" ass comment
It's part of the game religious folk are trained to be overly defensive and aggressive when it comes to discussing their religion with anyone they deem to be an outsider, they tend to be rather insecure about their beliefs, and as a result they overcompensate in one direction or the other, maybe they're unreasonably cruel, maybe they are trying way too hard to be nice, either way they are trying to prove they are a good practioner of their religion,
Atleast you recognize the anger faith trains you to feel isn't normal, or justified all the time, and atleast you can recognize that while you've had good experiences, attacking people for sharing bad experiences is wrong even if it makes your religion look bad, just like attacking them for nothing more then being honest makes your religion look bad.
Too many Christians think they'll convert people by condescending to them. And in my humble experience this has been the case in every country I've lived not just America.

When you said the "bless you" when sneezing stuff I just got this realization that even though Christianity wiped away all the old pagan-related practices and phrases out of our culture, the phrase said after someone sneezes still stayed. In Bulgaria we say На здраве, which translates to "to/for health"
That's also what gets under my skin. Having been raised by so many religious phrases that ended up being exclusively Christian, I hate saying "Oh my god" or "what the hell" as it feels annoyingly limiting to use.
I'll def need to broaden and train my reflexive vocabulary out of that narrow word-pool.
@sundalosketch4769 I relate to that a lot, as many of our phrases are litterally the same as in English, just... Well, Bulgarian. Still, I am glad and can announce with pride that we have phrases such as Marko died, went the horse into the river and has been boiling but not boiled.

there is a passage in the bible (or maybe it was an early Abrahamic text my memory's foggy) specifically condemning it, which on paper was odd since well, this shouldn't be something you have to tell someone. Well turns out no, where the Israelites were living, it was common practice among their neighbors, the Canaanites, who are singlehandedly responsible for the word holocaust.
It believed that a lot of specific dos and don'ts in the bible are solely there because the Israelites lived among the Canaanites, so the bible condemned even some of their more mundane practices just to avoid whatever weird pipeline it'd lead to

@@Jery-ej3iz The term "homosexual" did not exist in biblical times. It was inserted into the bible as a mistranslation of a greek word referring to child molesters. It's voluntary, atleast in my country
I agree with this take because historically many religions have been influential to our societies in many ways. I'm not Christian but I took a Bible in Literature class because it's fascinating how much Christianity has influenced our language and pop culture. If it didn't there'd be no reason why even atheists say "oh my god." In that class we'd look at religious texts and analyze their importance to the time they were created in, like Dante's Inferno, which is a criticism of the corrupt churches of the time.
@PauloTheKat I'm honestly along the same lines myself, religion can be FASCINATING to learn about if you can dodge all the strings and blocks naturally attached to the topic

However critisism needs to be NUANCED, and not demonize a whole group of people.

Religious people try not to act the exact opposite way of their religion's teachings:

Reminds me of TherminTrees' quote: better to be a hypocrite than to obey these barbaric laws
From my personal experience, most (older) Christians have responded with aggression or defensiveness when I ask about their faith, or they simply don’t answer my question and send me to their church’s website (like, BRO, just tell me if there are certain steps you have to follow during prayer, it is NOT that deep).
However, the one hijabi woman I’ve spoken to let me ask multiple questions, and then proceeded to give me clear and detailed answers.
If someone asks about your religion, don’t get defensive. Maybe they just want to know more, or maybe they just don’t understand. Always respond with patience and respect, and they will hopefully do the same.

I just know that according to christianity I am supposed to respect people no matter what happens, and that's exactly what I do today.
All of this crap is exactly why I consider myself non-religious spiritual. My beliefs are in line with most basic Christian beliefs, but I despise the idea of organized religion and the harm that has come from it.
I also believe that the vast majority of stories in the Bible (the exception being the gospel) are just that - stories meant to teach lessons and be interpreted in different ways. After all, if God wanted to make hard and fast rules in there, he COULD. The fact that they can be interpreted differently means that was by design. I’m also old earth, pro evolution, etc. and , honestly, I believe in the Japanese Kami as well, like minor god-like servants meant to help those on earth
I have no issue with those who practice organized religion, but I never understood it. In my opinion religious/spiritual beliefs are very personal and trying to convert people is messed up
I don't mean to judge you here, but the Bible is not just stories. And this thought that the Bible can be interpreted in multiple ways created about 2000+ denominations
Besides, you're *comfortable*. That's why something more uncomfortable, like religion, is unappealing. Religion moves you to believe, instead of serving your beliefs. It's a very easy pitfall so it's very understandable.
@ Can you prove that they aren’t just stories though.? If not, I’m still very inclined to follow my own belief system. As long as I believe in God that’s all that matters, who cares about the technicalities ?
Also, if the Bible wasn’t meant to be interpreted differently, then it’d be so straight forward that it COULDN’T. The fact that it’s able to means that it’s meant to, otherwise God wouldn’t make it that way haha
I mean you can still try and get people to convert as long as they want to
@ oh yeah, if someone expresses interest then it’s completely okay. But going up to random people and trying to convert them is something I’ve seen too many times 😅😅
Trying to convert people is objectively not messed up. How much do you have to hate your neighbour if you bear such amazing news yet wish not to share it with them?
Some things about Christans a lot of people need to remember (including some Christians themselves)
This doesn't go for Catholics btw
- The Bible says to love others no matter who they are all the time, and not to judge others ex. The verse that says "You notice the speck in your brother's eye but can't take the log out of yours".
If a Christian does that, they're breaking their own rules and being a hypocrite. Tell them they're not doing what God says themself.
- One sin doesnt send you straight to Hell. That's the whole point of Jesus's sacrifice. It might be different for Catholics but I'm talking about when we get saved when Jesus dies on the Cross for our sins.
After we've accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our sins are washed away and are clean, no matter what sin we commit God will still always love us and won't leave us. Your name will be written in Heaven and it will never be erased. The only unforgivable sin is not excepting God's gift before it's too late, which is the same as not excepting before you die. God already forgiven us for every sin since the begining of time.
- No sin is bigger than the other. God sees all sins the same, whether it's lying or hurting someone. God will always forgive you.
- Considering all the things above, there's no point in calling out other people for singular sins they commit.
There are many things people do that are against the Bible, so if you're worried about someone else's sin you should be worried about all the sins people do that are legal (ex. Drinking, smoking, ect.).
And remember, God sees all sins the same, and we're not supposed to judge others, and all that matters is if they accepted Jesus and are saved. And their own personal sin is between them and God to deal with.
And remember if you believe in God we're ALL sinners. Not only is that hypocrisy, you'd look like you don't know God yourself.
Even if you're worried about those things because theyre against the Bible and now it's legal, and everyone's saying it's not bad, there's so many things that are legal that are sins. You can help people go on the right path, but being hateful about it literally goes against God's word is hypocritical. We're supposed to love, not hate.
-If someone does something horrible or straight up against the Bible, but claims they're doing it for God, they're lying. Period.
God made His word clear, he would NEVER be happy with someone sinning, hurting others, for His sake, when that's the exact opposite of what He say to do.
If someone says that tell them they're twisting God's words.
No true Christian would do that.
If you meet Christians like that, they aren't real Christians. If they're trying to be they need to learn a lot more and need to fix whatever they have going on.
-People who truly follow the Bible won't hate or judge you. The ones who do are the loud hypocrites. Of couse they make it obvious they're Christian. But trust me they're not all old crusty bigoted white people lol.
A large percentage of the world is Christian or believes in something.
You might not know unless you ask.

Why was the Catholic Church singled out specifically? Isn't it also a Christian denomination?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS
@@siimplykittxie8469Since you're wondering, I clarified that because im talking specifically about my religion. There are a LOT of different types of Christianity that belive in different things and the one I'm talking about if different from the Catholics one since there are specific requirements for salvation.
Since I found out when people say Christianity they could be talking about Catholicism too, so I didn't want someone to think I was talking about the Catholic religion when I was talking about my Christianity.
1:00 gotta love people using "religious beliefs" to justify judging and hating people
Imagine being such a coward that you need to hide behind religion.
The amount of people making excuses for Islam in this comment’s section is disturbing. If you want to practice Islam then fine but don’t ignore its obvious flaws and harmful real world impact. Like all religions (especially prostelyzing ones) Islam has caused significant suffering.
Remember that time Christians/Buddhists/Shintoists/any other religion caused suffering? Nah, that never happened obviously
Ain’t no way bruh 💀

@@ShakirUddin-hu3gk theres a big difference between recognising parts of a belief system that are harmful, and encouraging genocide. i don't think anyone here wants a second holocaust.
I'd like to point out that as an ex-musilm not only would my parents kill me if good told them too but also the fact that I was so ok with them doing. I WAS READY TO DIE IF MY PARENTS SAID GOD SAID SO. Like that's fucked man.
That's why the best religion is to believe in yourself🗣️🔥
Wouldn't that just be humanism or something.

Meanwhile that same preacher and the people working under him and for the Mosque own Iphones
My literal Arabic teacher showed me he bought an Iphone
people who try to use religion as an excuse to be homophobic and other such things seem to forget that 9/11 happened because some people thought they were doing god's work by committing a terrorist act. if religion can lead THAT to happen, it makes me wonder why some people devote themselves to it so much.
Christianity and islam is not same
9/11 was an operation by the CIA to allow them to invade iraq. Yes Osam was muslim but he was an extremist who ignored parts of the Quran which would condemn what he was doing. He would've never been able to do what he did without being supplied by the CIA.
oh God... as a Catholic myself, I hate how people treat the Bible as literal, and then go "did you know the Bible says X and Y, therefore Z is wrong and false?".

@Dedicatedguidesguyfanmisfired comment. Unless you mean in the most general sense, and not within this circle.
Why are people calling this ragebait
my best friend's catholic, i found out casually when we were passing by a church to go somewhere, i said "cool, I'm not" and he was like "ok" and that's it, any argument we've had never even touched religion, what can i say, he's just a chill guy
As a Christian, I would like to apologize for these people
Interesting how until this day, theres people saying than Satanism is bad or "Workship the Devil", while the religion is in short:
- love yourself
- don't warm someone unless they did first (but even that isn't like "he hurt my finger, shal use a granade!")
- respect religion!
- respect woman!
- don't abus woman!
Was far than Ik, someone that is a actual Satanism can take this entire yapping up and reply with actually stuff, I'm saying what a friend said to me before..
Those good things are same in Christianity
@JustGeorge-S4m no, they don't
as a satanist,
-don't let others harm you
-don't kill animals for sport
-do not harm children
-treat everyone with respect
-if someone mistreats you in your own home, throw them out
-don't use magic and then deny it's existence
-put yourself before your worship
@slimjim5745 what they dont? youtube is deleting comments again for some reason
I absolutely love it when Christians preach againt everything, citing every obscure verse in the Bible, then they all go out to a nice bacon and eggs breakfast 🤣
What's wrong with bacon and eggs?

As a person trying to devote myself to orthodox christianity I would say that you made this video really well! I personally really dislike when "christians" proceed to commit heresy in the form of hatred towards others, as well as when my religion is ridiculed by other religions like islam. I can't do anything against it since it would go against my faith but I enjoy when people like you make well made videos to explain it well! I hope you have a great day and even though you might not be religious I hope you find God in your heart, Take care!
Same here with Islam. Truth is, crappy people will always find a reason to be crappy, and religion is a very convenient way to do that. People love to twist religion to suit their own purposes. I personally find orthodoxy to be a beautiful religion full of really fascinating traditions, and I would never ridicule someone for believing differently than me, but I'm well aware it's a widespread issue within Islam, that and violence against women. Even though our book literally teaches us that women are precious and should get an education, are allowed to divorce, etc. evil people will always find an excuse to be evil. Just remember, you are beholden to no one's judgement except God's.
You guys are so real for this, I rlly hate it when ppl twist religions to the point where others believe that those lies are part of the teachings
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain.
As a Christian, going to church was boring. 2 hours of praying while you know anything about the Bible due to having one at home
two hours of praying? just praying, nothing else? no worshipping God, no pastor preaching, or praying for others? that's... sad for a church. i guess every church is different, and mine is a mix of everything i listed. we do have a day where we dedicate to just praying, but like... that's all y'all do? no worshipping? i'm not trying to be judgmental, but that's weird.
One of the many reasons I stopped being a christian
This is why I put the effort to expose myself to other beliefs because of the fact that I still get squimish over some outside of Christianity. I noticed people tend to have a lot of preconcieved notions about certain beliefs, (past self included) like Satanism. Nobody goes through the effort to learn more. I'm trying that now
Oh same dude
i was 70% prepared for this to be slop but was pleasently suprised with one of the first well researched multi-sided view on a subject youtube has given me in a minute
Already used to this whole song and dance. Personally, it’s people who ruin it, like bruh how hard is it to practice what you preach, talking about loving everyone around you but almost none of the religious people actually can. And it’s even worse when they act so self righteous when the Bible says that everyone is on the same boat.

this video is so insanely good and i honestly found myself agreeing with pretty much everything you said. this is so well made and honestly sums up a lot of my feelings on religion in general. i am honestly so sick of hearing, “god made you this”, and “the devil is making you like that.” i’m so glad to hear someone acting sane cuz im so sick of hearing religious excuses for the way people around me and the way people in the real world act. this video is fantastic 👍
edit: to clarify i’m referring to people just being straight up evil and bigoted to other people who are doing nothing wrong, or reaffirming delusions or hallucinations in mentally handicapped or unstable people (apologies if my language here is a bit disrespectful i’m not good with writing my feelings on the spot). i’ve had experiences with both and looking it back, it frustrates me to no end how commonly i see this and it bothers me. same with how disrespectful people are when a lady is dressed a certain way and the comments are filled with nasty people insulting them and wishing SA on them and stuff. i’m glad more and more people are waking up to the absolute lack of morality and empathy on the internet and the world in general, and i hope more people watch this video :)

The “Chill religious people keep it to themselves” thing is so true. I recently found out that one of my coworkers is a Young Earth Creationist because I brought up how we used to be fish way back when.
