    Yes hello! I’ve been taking Caplyta for about a month. I’m at 42mg now. While during those first 2 weeks also decreasing Celexa. Anti-depressants are no longer my friend. I have Bilolar 2. That was a very rough transition during a hypomanic episode with visual hallucinations Not to brag. I’m still having the brain zaps, and rapid mood swings. But I see it coming and paired with a professional who has specific experience, this medication is like another tool.
    But I have to say it’s so worth it. I’ve never felt like this…can’t identify what’s this because I’ve been petrified my whole life. So, if you are considering taking Caplyta, I say give it at least a month. It can help.

    I don’t have bipolar but definitely some high anxiety and maybe mild depression? It’s hard to know because I have a high stress corporate job so how much of this is “normal”? At any rate, my doc who I primarily see to manage my ADHD has been recommending some of these anti psychotics at low dose to manage my moods. One made me very ill, another had awful anxiety/dyskinesia effects. She wants me to try Caplyta but I’m concerned.

    I’m finding out i might have bipolar2 mixed with addiction issues…never had a full-on psychosis but more than enough dissociation, mania and panic attacks…but the cost of this new ‘wonderpill’???
    And us healthcare is becoming a real target right?

    How do you taper off a drug that has only 3 different milligrams

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With anti psychotic medication you reduce by the next low dose available and wait at least 2 weeks before reducing to the next dose. Monitor symptoms during every dose reduction. Withdrawal from antipsychotics is not common. Not as common as antidepressants or benzos. So most people do well with that type of taper. If not, you need to get the medication formulated into a liquid and then taper less.

    One study showed Caplyta to be more effective than Risperdal for schizophrenia (and it works like Zyprexa for schizophrenia as it reduces both positive psychotic symptoms and the negative symptoms of schizophrenia). Just wondering if it’s more or as effective as Zyprexa for psychosis and schizophrenia because in contrast to Zyprexa it doesn’t cause any weight gain (which is a breakthrough)-there needs to be more research and literature reviews including this new antipsychotic. Also wondering at lower doses for treatment resistant depression (i.e., after first line SSRI antidepressants like Lexapro or Zoloft fail), when would a psychiatrist choose Latuda over Caplyta and vise versa?

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on many factors. At this point it will most likely have to do with cost since Caplyta is still branded and may not be available for those without insurance. Even those with insurance may require other medications be tried first.

    It is appalling that a nurse takes on the role of psychiatrist and pharmacologist, and she uses terminology that the insiders use. You have to realize your limitations, but here I feel that the nurse in question dresses in the role of a psychiatrist with solid pharmacological knowledge. You are certainly good and knowledgeable in your field - being a psychiatric nurse, but don't go the route of appearing to be a doctor/psychiatrist.

      I am a Board- Certified Psychiatirc Nurse Practitioner. Here in the U.S. we function similarly to Psychiatrists and have advanced training in psychopharmacology. I can diagnose and prescribe treatments for psychiatric disorders in the states I am licensed in.
