- This is how I turned a $100 repair into a $500 repair by not being aware of the inline fuse built into the starter cable that can prevent the starter from receiving enough amps to turn the car over but enough voltage to sound like its engaging but faulty.
Starter Fuse Part no.: 31376602
Starter Part no.: 36010074
You saved other people allot of money and time doing this video. Thank you
Do true
I had this issue a year ago and was stumped, wish I had found your video then!
Thank you for this. I'm about to replace the cable on my S60 after finding a similar continuity issue. This video helped tremendously
The stater is making a sound and it shows the power of the battery is fine but the engine is not getting power to start. So what might be the problem?
您好!看了您的視頻有一個個人經驗交流一下電纜的對接最好再錫焊一下再用熱縮套管作絕緣應該是更好的!祝一切安好!
Sneaky flaw direct from Volvo Engineering. Thank you for your great video!
Are you not supposed to cut off the copper hairs? I needed to cut some off in the part I was connecting the new piece to and I had to cut some of the copper hairs off to get them to fit together
Hi similar issues on t5 s60 2012 ,
So if i understand that correctly it was just a battery fuse? but you have to replace it with while cable right?
whole cable *
Before you changed the cable did the car start at all? I have an issue and where my v60 does not start 20% of the time or sounds weak starting. I don’t use the start/stop feature any more because of it.
Once the fuse breaks current can't reach the starter so it completely stops functioning. Perhaps you have a crack in the fuse that's still letting 'some' through?
Did someone already suggest replacing the entire cable? Costly, but then no angst around crimping.
What’s the part number for that? How many miles did your Volvo have?
Part no. 31376602
Had about 83k on it
Thank you 🙏🏽 for the part number
It was something on a dash like put gear at P ?
I really enjoy your videos concerning Johan
having same problem with wifes volvo v40. already raplaced starter and about 10 fuses
I'm doing my start motor just feel like I'm wrestling anything that booster pipe you moved over to get the starter me off did you take the whole thing off or just or just that little section
I only disconnected the intake hose from the throttle body to get a little extra wiggle room, it's a real tight puzzle to get it in without taking a bunch of stuff off but it is possible (or at least it was in my case). Good luck!
The shop manual says to remove intake manifold. Doesn't seem to be necessary. Drain coolant to remove those hoses without making a mess, pull the inlet coupler off the throttle body, and there looks to be plenty room.
I replaced the fuse and installed new battery, car ran great for a week. Now, it's clicking again. Starter is getting power, so it's time to replace mine.. Ugh auto start/stop is detrimental to our starters. Stop using it everybody!
@@sonofnothing I saw VIDA recommend the same procedure, looked at The area and said no way - was able to replace the starter with only decoupling the intake from the throttle body but it's certainly a wriggle and patience procedure.
Crazy that this is with all Volvos and I don’t hear about until it has exactly happened to my Volvo smh.
How many miles did you v60 have at this point?
About 83k
Did you have any fault codes on a dash?
No CEL and no codes through VIDA or my OBD reader
it helped :) thx!
Hi dude. From Brazil
Thanks for the video. Mine stoped at a stop light and would re start watched a video about the fuse.I’ll I had was a piece of 1/4 inch copper in the trunk cut a piece off and used a napkin to insulate myself and jumped fuse. Got it home. I can’t believe the price. You said they were proud of the starter and they’re quite proud of that fuse and wire also.
Hydraulic crimper is the only way with high Amp Cables.
$30 bucks on Amazon gets you both a large gauge cutter and crimp tool.
