Yo, I can't even imagine anyone having problems with that first video. I never made gravy before that one, and I was told "it tastes like restaurant gravy" by a member of my family, AND I'd never made a decent gravy before that. You rock!
This recipe for making gravy from scratch is still hitting! I made some today and it came out perfect. I made some with onions and some without. The Worcester sauce adds lots of flavor.
I want to thank you. I'm in my early eighties and have asked three wife's to teach me to make gravy, I still did mot know. They all had good intensions I'm sure and make good gravy. But I was still unable to do so. But following your instructions I feel confident I WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE GOOD GRAVY.
Use either chicken / turkey / pork / beef bones if you have them handy and boil (rolling boil) the bones to extract the stock's flavors for at least 1 hour. All restaurants make their gravy this way and the key to a good gravy is to begin with a good stock base.
Thankyou......i enjoyed and now I know when I run out of gravy packs I can resort to making my own. As a matter of fact making my own might be my first resort.👍🏾
I'm gonna say it. I have never made homemade gravy but this recipe actually turned out pretty great. I was about to blame it on my cousin and say he made it until it came out perfect
I just made some gravy last night, thanks to your clear instructions! Thanks for the tip about spreading the flour out…it definitely helped me avoid the dreaded clumps I’ve gotten in the past! My gravy turned out delicious! So glad I found your vid🙌🏾💜🖤
Really like the way you explained how to make gravy a lot of people don’t know how to do it and the reason for the steps but you are very clear great video!
This is a great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. I make this gravy the same way that you make it and even the Church asks me to bring this gravy to the Church dinners.
Hell yeah thank ya so much girl my ass can cook but I’m just now learning how to make my most fav stuff and just started gravy now I know what to do thank you!!
The first video helped me a lot! I kept rewinding it to make sure I did it correctly. I used veggie broth as a sub n it was fire. Thankhs so much for this bc what I did b4 YouTubing u was shameful lmaooo
Looks wonderful! It got me to thinking of a possible short cut. Instead of adding individual spices a person could use poultry seasoning instead. Most poultry seasoning includes the following spices: rosemary, oregano, sage, ginger, marjoram, thyme, and pepper.
You may know already but, I believe you got comments about the gravy not turning brown b'c in the first video you only mentioned 4 min of stirring and then to "decrease" your temp where you followed up w/ "right now I have mine on medium low". In this video you actually described the temp for melting the butter & cooking the onions as "med high" , which is what I'm sure you had your heat set to in the 1st video w/out mentioning it. Of course, it would take much longer than 4 min for the flour to turn brown at med. low heat. Otherwise I loved the video and kind of figured the heat thing out in about a min of melting the butter, when i made your 1st video recipe !! It was tasty !! Sincerely ................... God bless, Steph
Hi Step☺️ I just took a look at the video. That's correct...when I started on the roux my heat was set to HIGH and pot was very hot, which was why the butter was sizzling so fast after it melted. After it turned brown then I reduced the heat to medium low. I probably wasn't too clear in my instructions. I'll update the description box on that video for clarity. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. God Bless❤️❤️❤️
If you guys don't want mess with making a roux. Get a $3 packet of Walmart brown gravy mix. Add your favorite spices and a large dollop of butter. It tastes just as good with mashed potatoes and fries. I add some garlic and onion powder, cayenne pepper and sprinkle chopped parsley on top. Delicious
Good morning, great video. I do recommend, please don't take out "The Onions", my family and I love love love onions a great video thanks again for sharing....
Mmm.. I see a lot of people follow these steps but rarely see the method done right in my opinions and that is of roasting flour alone with dry heat through right to the shade of color desired then add butter, seasonings and water to dilute. Am I wrong?
I made the other gravy last night I realized I didn't get my rohu dark enough but it was still delicious. I do want to try this one too It's just this music I had much rather hear your voice and instruction you are such a good instructor it is just muffled with the music.
She said in her first video Part 1 that you can use pan drippings. This was just a simple recipe if you can make if you don’t have pan drippings. Her recipes are always delicious❤️
Your easy confidence is very encouraging and empowering Gravy has always been intimating But this looks doable Can’t wait to make up a bath Do you think bacon drippings might be a tasty addition?,
I like your style of instruction. Clear, simple, and straightforward. Thank you!

Go head girl... i am 58, my mom taught me the same way.
When I have it, I like to add a little strong coffee. For company I also add a tablespoon or two of dry vermouth.
How does it taste with coffee?
@@victoriaboydsweethang6556 Mainly it gives a richer color; sometimes I get a little panicky about scorching my roux.
Would it be easier to chop the onions fine ? Just curious
