Great tip, thanks for making the video and sharing. I have had my neo and rcn 3 controller for about 3 weeks. Changed my settings immediately after watching . Since it was nighttime... I tested it inside my home(which I had used the controller with the standard settings inside). I could tell an immediate difference, made the drone much easier to navigate. I will definitely be give it a spin on the outside tomorrow 👍👍👍👍👍
In an ideal world, the joysticks would have been setup like this from the get go! Ive moved into flying FPV along with my usual DJI consumer lite products (Mini 2 se, mini 4k, the old reliable Tello) and now the Neo. Happy flying!
Glad I could help, only had it a couple of weeks and found the default settings for the joysticks hard to learn so had a look in the settings and came across how to change them. I pleased that it is helping you all. Cheers.
Thank you - I'm a crappy RC pilot (heli & planes) & the stock setup seemed impossible. I'll mess around with it because I didn't know this existed. The idea of keeping the right hand on hori navigation makes sense.
I hope it helps with controlling your drone, it helped me as a beginner. The default set up to me was confusing me but this now makes it easier to control. Cheers.
This was a great tip. I found it easier with the controller, BUT when you return to using the smartphone in manual mode, the on screen 'pseudo-joystics' revert to the default modes. So switching between the two methods requires different actions. That's a shame and a disadvantage?
Yeah it is a shame that you can't re-program the controls when only using your smartphone, maybe that's something that DJI could put in a future update. Cheers.
Hi! Let’s hope everyone doing so will never ever have the desire to fly anything else than a DJI drone in slow and stabilized mode. I fly anything that flies, helicopters, FPV quadcopters, different airplanes … if you want to know how to fly, if you want to fly fast, improve your skills, if you want to fly different stuffs, changing the commands of the sticks doesn’t seems to be a good advice… Choose your mode (there’s 4), stick to it, and get used to it. The mode 2 is the more polyvalent and the most used across the world and across the different platforms. Anyways, have fun 😎😎😎
If you've been flying drones for a while and comfortable with the controls then you shouldn't change but if you are new to flying drones and have difficulty with the controls then by all means try this way and see if it is easier, your choice. Thanks for your input. Cheers
I'm thinking about getting the Neo, with the RC-N3 controller, but I wanted the FPV experience. So will this work with the DJI N3 goggles? I know, you probably don't know, LOL.
The dji goggles 3 and the n3 goggles work yeah but you won't be able to fly it with out the fpv controller 3 or the motion controller 3 you'd need 1 of those controller to use it with the goggles
Yes it is an older phone, Nokia 6.1 from 2018. I'm using it because the speaker in it is broken so I can't use it as my main phone, this happened a few years ago so I just kept it as a back up so now using it this way. Cheers.
@@tinetales-v.0217 Sorry but I don't know why it wouldn't, my Nokia is older than your S20+ and it works. Did you get an update on your phone recently that sparked the fly app to not work?
@@tinetales-v.0217 I don't know what you mean by "doesn't work", but check if you have enough space on your phone's memory. It would be good if there was at least 10GB of free space.
Never use a cellphone as your drone controller unless you’re in an open field. If the connection between your cellphone and the drone is lost, you won’t be able to recover or bring the drone back. This is especially risky if the drone is flying over water, cliffs, or tall trees. Without a connection, the drone will hover in place until its battery runs out, increasing the chances of losing it entirely.
Couldn't be more wrong it has return to home for a reason it's for the scenario if you lose video transmission and the controller would still be connected and he's not using Just his phone? It's a controller while using his phone as a monitor so how does that work exactly?
@@liamw2334 From what I understand when you fly it just with your phone you are limited to 30 metres away, correct me if I'm wrong. That's the reason I purchased the RC N3 controller and for the added signal connection and speed of the drone. Cheers.

Why would you tell people to change their stick movements that would cause more confusion, even you just got confused trying a figure of 8 when trying to fly it 😂😂 it's set like that for a reason it's best for cinematic shots and easy for beginners it's like that for almost every drone for a reason
Well I'm still learning to fly this drone and I find it way easier to control with the joysticks this way and so do many others in the comment section. If the joysticks were meant to stay the way they send them from the factory then why do they let you change them in the settings page??? Everyone is different and this is meant for beginners who haven't flown a drone before, you are entitled to your opinion on this and the default obviously works for you so don't change them, I'm not telling everyone to change to this setting, just informing them that they have a choice. Thanks for your comment. Cheers.

@@pictureworldphotography It's a waste of time to explain. Some people don't understand that not everyone has manual skills, the desire, time and inclination to learn the "only correct flying style".
