Great storytelling and a beautiful backdrop. I camped in North Carolina a few times when I lived in GA and never had any creepy experiences. But my dad and brother took the dog on one occasion. The dog ran off but then came rushing back to my dad and brother’s campsite minutes later, apparently spooked out of his wits. He didn’t leave my dad and brother’s side from that moment on. I always wondered what he saw.

Interesting! I'm from NC and have driven over the Rocky River many times. The woods in this state can be very creepy. I once worked on a movie set at a camp up in Stokes county where everyone was afraid to use the outhouse alone due to the strange vibes. The screams of a mountain lion didn't help matters, either. Keep up the great storytelling!
LifeinThe70sand80s. You are not joking. I live in NC too. My sister lives near the Rocky River and I know exactly the area he is talking about. I live in Forsyth county..The creepiest woods are in the swampy area on either side of Hwy 64 on the way to Manteo. Dark and spooky. Two years ago I heard a story about a Dogman being seen in that area. Oh and on the Deep River is a cutout of a Bigfoot. 😊
Do you know where Cherohala skyway is ? Between Robbinsville NC and Tellico plains TN. It’s a 53 mi travel up and over a number of Mountains. With elevations reaching 5000 ft approximately. I have camped out in many places along the 2 lane route. There was this one time camping near the top . It was mid summer. Me and a girlfriend was in my camper . We had decided to watch a movie . Which meant running of the generator. We did that for the full movie say 90 minutes. It wasn’t 5 or 10 minutes after cutting the generator off . This extremely powerful Sound of scream /growl. I grew up in the outdoors . This was not any type of big cat or Wolf, No type of bird . And it was not possible for a human to make this sound . I kept playing it back in my mind . Knowing it was not possible for anything we know of to make that sound . It was about 10:30 pm . No one else around. From my estimation in sound distancing. It would have been 30 yards from the camper . The sound was in a sequence of 2 . Then nothing. Needless to say . We were terrified. And I had a 40 caliber with me . We took that as a warning. We left quickly. I had to go out of the camper to disconnect the wire between the generator and camper . Get that stuff together. Settle things inside camper for travel . And we were gone in 10 minutes or less . I do believe in Sasquatch.
interesting . had a bighairy sneak down a very steep rivercanyon wall, in very deceptive way. then jump or fall loudly feet first into river. . came across river climbed through blackberries on my side of river. then come over and search my 5 gal buckets next to rear wheel of 4runner i was hiding in. you hear people talk of fear.. i say most have never experienced fear . this old dog is sure of it.
I’ll tell ya the sound I would now find terrifying…no sound at all. Most every Sasquatch encounter has that same detail…the forest goes completely dead silent, no birds chirping, even the wind stops, no wind rustling the trees, nothing. That just eerie. It also makes me lean towards the theory that Sasquatch are multidimensional beings. Because of that and because of the fact that nobody has ever come across any of their remains, no skeletons or nothing.
I hiked into a forest a few years ago where there was zero sound from the wildlife. My boyfriend at the time suggested that we turn around and go back to the car. I agreed. Nothing happened, but both felt like something would if we had continued to hike. ….

A beer that has molasses and graham crackers! It sure looked dark enough to have molasses in it. The scariest part of this story for me was when the three took off running and forgot the ten year old. What a relief that they ran back and got him! I was surprised that they went back the next day and got their camping gear. That had to take some courage, but I guess they didnt want their folks to know what had happened, so had to go and retrieve it. Another Sunday evening thriller. Thanks Chris. Keep Hiking!

People are complicated 😕... they don't always say what they really think!!! .... I was so happy to find the new upload!!!... It's so nice to hear open minded people sharing experiences!!! 😌... My parents believed that a North American Great Ape was definitely not beyond the realm of possibility!!! They did lots of traveling to the National Parks in the 1950's.... they loved camping... so I'm sure they saw something!!! 🤔.... 😊❤ ...Which explains why they didn't take vacations like that after I was born.... it wasn't safe!!!

And let me tell you we’ve got history of high strangeness and things that go bump in the night I’m a believer I’ve hike and hunted in the southeast it’s vast thick country it is t open like out west and the vegetation is more like a jungle than a forest…anything could be out there.
My husband's grandfather used to tell him, when he was 9-10 years old not to wander in the woods or the woods people might get him. He just thought it was a way to keep him and his cousins from getting lost, But now I'm not so sure. Grandpa lived in the Pisgah Forest area

It's crazy to think that in these situations, out of all the ways a person can respond, throwing a rock back is the worst option... In all the stories I've heard, throwing a rock back is more of a challenge to them than firing off a round...

Congratulations on getting your dream home!🤩🤩🤩 YOU DESERVE IT! ONWARD TO GREAT THINGS!!!👍👍👍
@@stormy439 thank you so much .. Love and light to you 💛 ✨️
If you all like sasquatch movies, Willow Creek is such a gem. It has a 20 minute scene inside a tent and it's a continuous shot. Pretty unnerving.
The biggest jump scare with that splash good one 😂❤
I literally jumped when the "kerplunk sound" happened!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brilliant man. Awesome!👍👍
Never mind the amazing stories, where in the heck does he keep finding all these different interesting kinds of beers?
At an AAA meeting! 😆😅😄😃😂😁😊 just kidding
Thank you Chris for another great story. This gentleman experienced something so terrifying I'm glad he still goes into the forest.
Keep making your stories after hiking…recovering from cancer surgery and it really helps me…you’re so cheerful Chris
The added sound of the rock thrown in the water, startled me too! 😂
Btw, greetings of 4th July to you guys out there (I live somewhere in S.E. Asia). Keep Hiking! ✌🏽
Thank you ! Yes enjoying the 4th…. Love summer! KH! C ⛺️
Привет из Сибири❤
I believe Nate. They are out there. They are just the beginning of what's out there. Let's face it.
Wow Chris, I was glued to this story. Earlier when you were telling the story and you simulated a rock being thrown into the water, I jumped in my chair! Lol. These stories are so fascinating. As I've said before, I believe there are unexplained things out there. There are too many consistent stories from other people not to be true. I love stories about the unknown. It's exciting. Thank you Chris for having this channel and sharing with us. Stay safe out there!!! You are a very brave soul! 😁 ❤
LOL! I always love it when BCC plugs in those sound effects! So glued to his story then he pops in a sound and I'll jump, too! Love it!😅
@@fernleyvaqueros 😅
A beer that has molasses and graham crackers! It sure looked dark enough to have molasses in it. The scariest part of this story for me was when the three took off running and forgot the ten year old. What a relief that they ran back and got him! I was surprised that they went back the next day and got their camping gear. That had to take some courage, but I guess they didnt want their folks to know what had happened, so had to go and retrieve it. Another Sunday evening thriller. Thanks Chris.
Keep Hiking!
Q
Wow! Imagine silence in the forest!!! Omg!!! I'm already terrified!!!!!
Especially after hearing it sounding normal...C
Great story. I would like to know if Ben ever went hiking again.
Wow! You had me riveted to this story. I was thinking as they started to run away "What about Ben?!?"
Ben was right to be scared! He knew something was wrong! KH! C
😂 me too!!! So glad nothing messed with him all zipped up in the tent upset! 😅
Me too. I kept saying, " You forgot Ben. You forgot Ben-"
Me too
Yes, I was shouting, " Ben's in the tent" 😅
I'm a Guinness girl. I don't know about a stout that tastes like s'mores. Sounds like sacrilege. LOL! I listened to this with my eyes wide and my mouth in an "O". You are such a good storyteller, Chris. Boy, that was scary! Especially when they realized they left the little brother behind!! Good grief!! I would've been out of there like a bat out of hell, after i pitched the little one into the back seat.
Love watching the places you hike!!
This was a good one- had a great day hiking! C
He sounds like a really nice guy, has a friendly voice!
Hi. LIKE. LIKE. SCENERIES. LANDSCAPE. STORY.
Really scary story Chris. I was born and raised in Charlotte n.c. and we have lots of scary stories from our state.
Fantastic video. What a beautiful country. I can understand why lots if Americans never leave there country. They don't need to. It would be interesting to map out the Big Foot area.
I day hike all the time by myself, I’m an hour or so outside of Detroit… the woods I hike aren’t too dense, not like up north… I’m curious, any of these stories ever happen in Michigan?! ( That may just change my mind about solo hiking up there!!!)
I really love your channel Chris,& look forward to your stories every week!
Healthy, safe, & happy trails to you @Base Camp Chris & to all my fellow hikers!!!
P.S. I’ll be glad when these Canadian forest fires are done so I can hit the trails again!!!
P.P.S. The snow covered mountains in the background are glorious & that waterfall shot at the beginning was majestic!!
Thanks! Yes - I have heard of stories from Michigan, Upper Michigan and even Illinois...especially southern Illinois! 🐻c
I live in Michigan and there had been reports in the UP. Indiana as well.
Michigan dogman.
I wonder if the fires will force the sasquatch to be on the move??!!
Keep your 👀 open Chris!!
Probably never thought of that. Look for sightings 25-50 miles in each direction would be a start.
I hope your SILVER BUTTON came in the mail. You totally deserve it. Road to a MILLION now.
You’re a great story teller… btw I lived in. NC for 23 yrs, we all know not to camp in remote places👍
There are many dogman in the forests of NC. Didn’t used to be in the 1990’s but there are many now!
It is crazy to me knowing that many of the thru hikers on the are hiking unarmed through them north ga/ western nc and northeast tn mountains!
Ben’s still in therapy. Can you imagine being the little one and hearing everyone run off and you can hear these other things coming. Omg. Lol
.357 baby. Bess believe if I'm in the bushes, no better companion
Backdrop looks surreal on this one. ❤ fantastic
Hey Chris. I wait on your videos every Sunday. I also like how you tell story's. Like the style. Lol I went to cheaha al yesterday. I live in ohatchee Alabama. Alot of woods. I never seen anything but I have heard stuff that I can't explain
That is where Nate now lives ...he is 57. Looks like good country! C
That's cool. Do you mean cheaha or ohatchee or just Alabama? Just wondering. Off subject. Tell you what I been doing here lately. When I go to bed I put your scary stories on a play list and fall asleep to it with headphones. Lol it can be creepy waking up to the sound affects you add.
Great story from Nate in North Carolina! Thankyou
Love your storytelling Chris, another good one.
Thanks so much!! KH! C🐻
I just love the sound of. Chris chuckling to himself. Such a happy sound! Always makes me smile 😊
Beautiful area Chris there in the Sierras! I'm laughin' at the blowing of the cup!! HAHAA! And the ending made me laugh again! "bluh bluh" LOL Thanks for sharing!
Thanks 👍
The beer looks yucky but, thrilled to see you and hear a story.
I enjoy your presentations.
When they forgot about Ben the 10 year old boy I just facepalmed hard. Great story though!
But what about Ben? 😅🤣😂 It's just perfect!!!... Although, "But what about Bob?" was the best movie!!! 😊 ... Thanks for a great video!!! We even got to walk back with you!!! .... I think that in some cases, it's not so much that people don't believe you, 🤔 it's more that they don't want to know something like that even exists... it doesn't fit with their version of reality... so they go into denial.
Woah a scary night for them boys! Fantastic 😊👍
Happy Independence Day America!!!
🌟🇺🇸🌭
Love your content and the stories you tell I’m from the mountains of NC a also known as the blue ridge mountains ⛰️ part of the Appalachian range.
Love the stories Chris especially when the beer matches! Lol! You are a master of story telling but kind of miss your camping and camp gear reviews! I know it must be hard to put all these stories together each week! Look forward to Sundays with you! Lol!
Idk if I look more forward to the beer of the night or story! Lol... what an unbelievable view man ! Fortunate guy Chris...very good tale as usual! Keep hiking 🥾✌️
Great story, thanks for sharing v scary situation for kids
Cheers Sir! Beautiful backdrop also Loved the story Thank you 😊
It's crazy to think that in these situations, out of all the ways a person can respond, throwing a rock back is the worst option... In all the stories I've heard, throwing a rock back is more of a challenge to them than firing off a round...
Sissy ,man up and face ur fears.
Perfect! It just started storming and I sat down to find Chris has uploaded a video.
Bring it on! 🎉😊❤
Enjoy the storm!! Keep Hiking! C🐻
Storming here too in Alabama... where are you?
In SW Ohio poured cats and dogs Straight down, gloomy from Canadian wildfires. (Been sun blocked almost every day this week) But we needed it Happy 4th of July!
Chris I was JUST looking at your channel to see if I missed a notification or something. Always enjoy your style of storytelling. Thanks!!
I appreciate that!
@@basecampchris 👍
With that background.....you should be doing a Coors beer commercial !
Awesome shot of the falls, thanks for sharing!!!
That was a cool falls...huge!
@@basecampchris Sounded so relaxing and refreshing. 😪😴
America's beer brands number seems to be inexhaustible like Russian infantry . Here in Hungary we have 5-6 beer brands as far as i know.
This story shows again that Sasquatch could easily catch and hurt people, but it seems they just want to scare people so they will leave.
This is a gray channel, I don’t miss an episode! Wow, this guy is local, I’m in Huntsville, AL as well. Roll Tide Roll
Cool. Needed a story from Chris. Cheers
Thank you for sharing these stories with everyone. I look forward to each new one every sunday. You are a great storyteller, Chris😊
This was an exciting and terrifying story. Can you even imagine the young brother being left behind! I would imagine he was so terrified! Thank goodness they didn't get too far before they realized they left him. Im glad you carry Chris, assuming you do. 😊 I always enjoy listening to your stories and look forward to the next one. Have a great Fourth of July!
Another great story 😅 TYVM and careful getting to your car 🤎🖤
Another awesome, truly Creepy one for sure Chris, stay safe buddy until the next one ☝️
I absolutely love your videos. Are you gonna do more camping videos? Those are awesome too. Thanks bud
hello Chris!! hello everyone! great story as usual! poor ben, kid probably took a wee in his Lee's lol crazy
Listening during a severe thunderstorm here Alabama
wow! that light is super nice 👍🏼
What a story Chris, sounds like Ben got the fright of his life. It would be good to hear at least one person. I.learned how to shoot with 357 Magnum, I agree it's a heavy gun. I had a 22 Italian gun given to me by my Dad. My Dad insisted I learn how to use it. ❤
Are the recorded conversations popular? Personally, I would prefer to hear 2 stories. Great story Chris!
Another fabulous post!! Amazing how quickly the huge snow fall melts! Wow, the waterfall is huge and really neat - thanks for showing us! That is something that they forgot "Ben" zipped up in the tent and had to go back! As always, thanks for the story, the beautiful scenery and the laughs! Best, from Colorado!
Loved that waterfall shot
it is a good one...I believe there is a hike down to it. C
Thank you Chris, I love your stories... and you make me want to drink a crazy brand of beer. 😆
Thanks Chris for a great Story love the great views around Listening from the UK
Hiking poles, snow still In mountains ⛰. Amazing scenery 🙏👍 ❤ Stout & Porters - manly beers. 🧔♂️
I have a feeling they can sense our fear. Another great video chris! ❤
As if they feed off of it somehow. There are no creatures on Earth that intentionally create fear in its victims as its sole purpose, except for man. And I know these are not men. All creation stocks for the sole purpose of eating.
Наверно, они питаются страхом живых существ, особенно людей
Great story and location! It’s beautiful!
I love camping and hiking in western NC and east Tennessee. I go often I'd recommend taking some kind of protection, gun, big knife or something.
That place is beautiful.
Enjoyed the hike in ! C
You seem like such a nice guy and your show puts a different spin on the telling of this type of stories. Keep it up! I like the gun ownership as well.
Thank Nate for sharing and your telling the story
I did! He did a good job writing it out and talking about it, C
Creepy , scary, I was glued to the screen to the end. Wouldn't that be something if the boys slept in the parking lot after this experience and someone tapped on the window dressed like the Twinkie man asking them if they want a free twinkie? Id say we just went through hell that's not funny, sure give us a bunch of them. All joking aside I believe the guy because its similar to other experiences, great experience wished i had it . Rave Ken Peters i saw the tribulation.
Great story Chris I think I would have left too! Keep up the great work Chris, loved the vid!
🇨🇦so scary I had to wait till daylight to finish watching 😳🇨🇦thanks Chris!
Love the way you are able to tell stories that are sent in.
Another good one, Chris. Thank you.
Awesome - Thanks for listening! C
Nate I believe you… thank you for sharing. Each time people like you share your encounters it helps others stay safer.
