That's why "comedy" today is so bland because its too controlled and too many restrictions on everything.

@@JamesP44 So true. Where are the Eddie Izzards, the Billy Connolly's, Peter Kaye etc.

Freddie was what I would call a truly dangerous comedian. Many comedians today, like to think that they are edgy but Freddie was edgier, almost insane. He was every chatshow hosts worst nightmare, anythong could happen when he was on a show.

I laughed so hard I had to take my glasses off several times to wipe my eyes. I never heard of this gentleman either, so, of course, I had to go look him up. The following is shamelessly swiped from Wikipedia "Freddie Starr was an English stand up comedian, impressionist, singer and actor. Starr was the lead singer of Merseybeat rock and roll group the Midniters during the early 1960s, and came to prominence in the early 1970s after appearing on Opportunity Knocks and the Royal Variety Performance" Just wanted to add that the first thing I always do when one of your reactions comes on is to check and see if one of your cats has made an appearance.

Freddie Star was one of Britain's most loved comedians, he was always on the edge of craziness, he had many talents and the British people loved him, if you want to really hear him sing listen to his medley of Elvis songs sung with the Jardiniere's it really was a magical performance from both.

Freddie was a great comedian and fantastic singer but he was unpredictable so not many people liked to work with him. This was all Freddie the slow parts and the quick parts and there was no tape machine. He could do Elvis and sounded just like him.

freddie was a genius along with afew others from that era, jim davidson, they sort of went againts the mold, their acts wont get on TV now, as they are a bit close to the mark, Sady freddie dies not to long ago, sadly freddie was named in operation yew tree, the biggest sexual abuse scandal to hit the UK, He was found to have no part in it, but because it went on for years, his health suffured and he never really recovered from it.
