- The Titan launched at 8 a.m. on Sunday, and was reported overdue that afternoon about 435 miles (700 kilometers) south of St. John’s, Newfoundland. On Thursday, U.S. Coast Guards said debris had been found on the ocean bed. Authorities said all five people aboard the submersible died when the vessel imploded.

There is a person from Mexico who went into one of these expeditions with Oceangate last year, after a failed attempt in 2021, he went back last year and they were able to explore the Titanic, back then it was 125,000 USD per person, he was sponsored by two Mexican Companies, he documented the 8-day experience into a 4 part video, in one of the videos Rush Stockton gives a tour of the Submergible from inside and outside, he shows Titan had 4 external cameras. His channel is called 'Alanxelmundo', the videos are in spanish but Closed Captions can be turned on. The first video is called 'Mi Expedicion al Titanic parte 1/4 - Alan por el mundo'

This series is remarkable in that it shows (in part 2 or 3) the re-docking of the sub when it surfaced lopsided (because some ballast had been dropped) onto the platform. It was a tremendous job, took the whole night to get the thing on. In short, the diving crew spent almost a whole day inside the sub! Also it wasn't a 8-day experience, it was two trips altogether.

without any subtitles in english. In the series one can see HP Nargeolet who actually went down twice
and did not survive the 3rd time. In the interview Alan made clear, that the control device, which everybody
finds rediculous, is only ment to move the sub from left to right and down and up, probably to get better
views of the souroundings. It was never meant to control the complete submarine.

I thought, right away, that it imploded because of stress fatigue. And the furthest my “expertise” goes is having been an aircraft mechanic. I just don’t understand how the experts that boarded this vessel were not concerned about stress fatigue knowing there were multiple dives with this vessel.

They were not concerned because they were rich and they thought that bad things could only happen to the poor and not to the very rich. They treated it as a tourist attraction but it is not it's a graveyard one that they are now a part of and one that only the very rich can now make their last resting place.

I'd like to know if Ocean Gate's mothership on the surface registered the implosion in any of their instruments or heard anything . Is difficult to think they didn't pick up anything.

That’s what I’d like to know. If the navy picked up the sound of the implosion, how come the people on the mothership, with their equipment that was designed to detect problems with the hull, had no clue that anything had happened (other than the loss of communication)?

@@cknorris3644👍🏼 That is not the point. They have been giving us updates on this the whole time and clearly a lot of people are appreciative.
This is still an ongoing event, as they are on the question of even seeing if there are *any remains (not necessarily still intact) to be found, or what else could be in this debris field. We know that something could have happened to them, but in the next couple days I'm sure they're going to update us more. If you don't have anything nice to say, it is probably best to say nothing at all.
I feel for the families and I hope they find more updates along the way of this. This is a difficult time for them, I give them my support.
This reminds me of the Hawaiian Air incident when the top half of the front of the passenger cabin separated from the plane mid flight. The cause was found to be microscopic stress cracks in the fuselage from the takeoff and landing cycles that weren't detected. The airplane skin had compressed and decompressed one too many times and it just broke off.

I'm afraid that to me the reason for the collapse is obvious.
I fly FPV drones made from carbon fiber, as they take hits the laminate becomes separated from the fibers.
I once learned that the extreme pressures of a submarine cause the materials to be squashed, solid metal by inches sometimes.
Carbon fiber can not flex in this way and be ok, how did it last so long? The squash should break up the carbon fibers glue.
Submarines need to be built to compress and decompress their structure safely especially at these depths!
They found at first on the bottom, the tail cone, the front cap and the landing gear. These parts were attached to the fiber wrapped central core that would have shattered like glass as it finally imploded.
RIP and thanks for all the work contributed to the study of Titanic, they were brave I'll give them that, this is a terrifying idea to me!!!

I understand that it doesnt matter now, just would like to know if he had a chance to enjoy the moment with his dad without knowing they were in danger. Especially since he made the greatest sacrifice out of everybody there by going and also losing his life during it. Hoping that he did get something back at least before his life ended, since they never made it to the Titanic. 😢
don't worry, his mother (is german) gave an interview to a german newspaper. Her son was eager to go (the aunt a false one to make a buzz?). Because he was great with the Rubik cube and he wanted to establish a new record with it, very fast and at -3800m. He had applied for this record with Guinness Books. So he went very exited, laughing with his dad, who had brought a small camera to film the occasion. His mother was on the mother ship and she saw them off!
One of my favorite dead persons is Antarctic explorer Shackleton, who was derided at home because he prioritized bringing every man back over just being the first person to reach the South Pole. At the time (some) British big-wigs lionized Scott since he died trying.

It’s the same thing as the fuselage of a pressurized aircraft, a jet, etc. I fly business jets and the jets that I fly all have cycle limits. Though the cycle limits or number of times we pressurize the cabin of our jets have much higher limits, they are still limited for a reason. This is SO sad, I cannot even begin to imagine. I have had a few moments where I’ve heard our main cabin door pop or make noises due to the pressurization and it definitely gets your attention, not a comfortable feeling. I can’t help but wonder if these crew members heard any popping noises just prior to the implosion. IT’s haunting to think about. 🙏🙏

I hope pictures of the debris field are handled with some sensitivity for the sake of the families of the people who were lost.

I seriously doubt there will be any recognizable human remains, although in general I understand the concern about showing deceased humans [in whole or in part(s)] to the general public.
Human remains a side being bombarded with pictures of the debris field can be distressing for the grieving family and friends think back to 9/11 when you couldn't get away from the instant replay of the planes and the endless imagines of ground zero. I understand that interest is high but Monday morning quarterbacking for click bait sake or images for sensationalizing tragedy are in poor taste. Getting valuable information to improve safety and avoid further loss of life is admirable and necessary but that is going to take time and won't happen quickly to feed news cycle interests.

People keep saying it was quick while ignoring the likely noise preceding the implosion. They likely knew they were doomed well before the actual implosion which caused instantaneous death ☠️

Did the mother ship not have underwater acoustical equipment? The Navy heard the implosion but they didn't?
My question as well. They were so close to the implosion one would think they had to hear it.
Count me in. Even before the Navy reported this, I was wondering: Why didn't the Polar Prince detect a possible implosion, even allowing for the immense distance and tons of water between them? My simplistic, non-specialist answer is that, like the Titan had insufficient equipment on board, the Polar Prince had no sonar powerful enough, no acoustic detection system etc, to get an inkling of what had happened? OR, did they know something had happened? This is a sincere question, not a conspiracy theory. I've been reading a lot about this, but I feel we will get many more data as days go by.

I want to say something i am an average youtuber don't have any expertise or even intricate knowledge study or experience about any of this but: I am under the impression that the depth of the accident is already calcuble and that some people will already know, here's why
Great stream btw and insight, right well during the course of this broadcast i discovered that the US Navy were aware of a sound at a specific time quoted as 1 hr 45? min from when the dive began,, in any event they will have an accurate record of the exact time. From the time the vehicle started it's dive, now despite my lack of knowledge, i know that a dive will be constant ie the rate of descend from the start. if we now know the time of commencement, and the time the then unidentified sonar implosion sounds, as was picked up by the Navy, and we know that the vehicle takes a specific amount of time to reach the sea bed said to be 2 hr :20 mins i believe?, then it's really simple math to calculate the depth if we know the depth of the seabed approx 12500 ft this tragedy occured as a very rough guess at 9375 ft, more accurate figures will be made with the exact data. cheers

Yes but they have been curiously silent.
Surely they will have to provide these answers, and many more, as part of the investigation.

Absolutely the missing bolt could have been the source.....its just a hole thru the flange of the dome that is not filled and after a while with so much pressure it could leak around it...stress fractures around the other holes after tightening and loosening so many times could be a problem....oh...yea...and i am an engineer and installer of high pressure units.....but what do i know...
They said they were exploring those depths so that others could learn more…except for that man never used the basic scientific knowledge of those who were there before him. They were warning him about the dangers of the massive pressure!

it would in no way shape or form help to tell the general [public anything until they were completely sure of what they were going to say being true....truth be told the public doesnt need to hear anything... the unified command did us a favor by sharing the info with us but sharing it with us before they had a clear idea what happend would have caused more harm than good

What was recovered so far was either titanium end caps or unpressurized area but hull of the sub was not recovered thus making it the culprit in this implosion.

Why wasn't the sub tethered to the ship?? So it can be reeled up like a fish in the event of an emergency????
If the navy command knew there was an implosion in the ocean near the naval ship, which happened about the first 2 hours it left surface, why did they not check further, send recovery before being notified by the Ocean Gate parent ship waiting for mini sub? It’s said that sister vessel waited unti after 6 PM to call coast Guard on this?
My understanding is they didn't find the sound until they learned the sub was missing, and as discussed in this stream, notified the appropriate people immediately.
Have a question, what if just by chance a few of the bolts to shut the door were not correctly tightened. As I saw the hatch door was completely intact. To me that would be the weakest part of the sub.

Hey Jeff Patterson, I ride airplanes and im sure i agree to some type of shit, but i expect that the craft is not going to blow the fuck up. This needs more regulations.
What failed? Is obviously the captain. Had the owner listened to any of the warning signs, this would not have happened. It’s the same failure that sank the Titanic btw. The vessel itself worked tho. This wasn’t his first rodeo. He’s made several trips. The only thing we learned is that his design obviously had limitations. It’s only good for a certain number of trips. Scrap it and build a new one.

It was of aerospace grade carbon fiber done in partner with NASA at the Atlanta facility. By their own engineers! Would NASA steer them wrong?

Stockton Rush seemed Impetuous when it came to the safety inspection of his Sub. Furthermore, Rush was prejudice with his hiring practices of experienced team members, and the firing of other staff members that questioned his safety standards. Finally, Rush used off the shelf parts and junk laying around his backyard on the submersible itself.
How do they know that Titan was trying to drop weights? Was that reported via its communications before they failed?
I want to know how much time was between when they knew something was wrong and the implosion? Did they know they were in serious trouble?

Love your show JB. This is extremely tragic as we all know. So sorry for the families. But OMG this could have been avoided. This was a dum move. That little sub off the bat didn't look safe to me from the jump. Senseless deaths. What could have been done is a decision not to go. And a father taking his young adult son was to dam extreme. Who as a parent makes that dum ass decision?? I would never do that. In fact I will always try and talk them out of dangerous situations. Doesn't mean they'll always listen, but I'm going to give it hell.

While I don’t mean to lessen the tragedy of the death of ocean explorers, hundreds of people died in the Med earlier this week when a refugee boat sank, women and children among them. The coverage difference is enormous. Just an observation.

Does anyone know who the last crew was of the Titan sub? I can't find a list of missions none available at least I cannot find them. I know there were 13 Titan dives the last was end of 2022 and would like to know who the last passengers were that cheated death. Thanks
