Hello everyone. In this video I'm sharing my personal experience with Oceangate Expeditions just days before the tragedy. Not that it matters, but I did not pay for a spot on the ship. I was there to record our experience for my channel. My deepest condolences goes out to the families of the passengers aboard who lost their lives on the Titan submersible. RIP Disclaimer: Horizon the ship company has no affiliation with OceanGate Expeditions to my knowledge. Don’t fall for the fake accounts pretending to be. People can be so sick. Flag those channels to get them off the comments please! I’ll never ask for personal details or money.
@huntersnyder4883 From what I caught it, sounded like some of the control systems were not working, that last little bit sounded like Communications went out and the lock or tether mechanism was not working.
Cannot believe this video exists! It was unreal to watch. Thank God your safe! Thank you for sharing. Prayers to those families and friends affected by this tragedy. 🙏
@@Musta0011nah but its a weird one, if stockton wasnt on it he wouldve technically gotten away with getting paid $250k to send someone down in a coffin. Because they all signed the waiver…
The fact that they were still doing “test dives” and “working on the sub” whilst planning to dive 13 thousand feet shortly thereafter with people on board is absolutely wild
It is wild. And it's even more crazy how a guy told Stockton it wasn't safe and he got fired for that. Had he listened to him, he would be alive today. SO many experts were writing in saying it wasn't safe and he still decided not to listen
@@HWEWSWEWyes, but, look at the issues discussed here, the fact it got snagged and no hull scan - lots wrong here. Anything like this, with the history of issues the titan had, it should have been returned to shop and tested in the tank. This isn’t a normal vessel and this was a tourist trip.
@@hallmarkaddict8455 Tunnel Vision. May we all strive in life to never have tunnel vision - to remember those around us and the wisdom they have to offer.
@@HWEWSWEW yea but they werent made out of carbon fiber. going down to the bottom of the ocean. Jake talks about the dangers in chasing your dreams but i dont get that at all. Stockton IGNORED help and warnings from professionals and experts in the field of submarines. He didnt have the proper qualifications on the sub to even go that deep. he wasnt an innovative explorer with a novel submersible. he was an ignorant billionaire who believed he was smarter than everyone else. so yes the fact that they were making test dives on a submersible made of carbon fiber is absolutely wild.
This is an insane level of insight into a very current tragedy. It's like watching a documentary in which the filmmaker travels back in time a few weeks.
@@ikel018 definition of in the right place at the right time. The fact he had already cultivated a strong online presence makes this whole sequence of events seem like fate, couldn't have been a more perfect filmmaker to tell this story.
This video makes me sure this company should not have had ANY missions or people even on their mother ship out in the ocean until the issues they were experiencing with the submersible were fixed via rigorous and constant testing over a extended period of time. This video confirms this company was/is not equipped/ competent and,or qualified to being doing these voyages….
Dude, you dodged a tragic bullet. For that i am thankful for you. My deepest condolences for the families left behind after this somewhat avoidable tragedy.
I am retired from the US Navy, and some of the documentation in this video should be vital to the NTSB. There was one issue after another preventing the sub from diving. What really blows my mind is that this sub was never certified through test and evaluation regarding safety or carrying passengers. I guarantee that if you would have dived on mission 3 to the titanic, the sub would have imploded then. In your video, anyone who has acquisition knowledge and experience can see the entire castropic event building during the preparation to launch sequence. You need to contact the NTSB immediately and turn your original video over to them for investigation. Then you need to pray because God spared your life to live and see another day.
@randomconcorde9272 The NTSB is involved because the Titan is a US company, and the accident occurred in international waters. The Canadians are involved because the operations were being launched from a Canadian port. Both agencies are working together to investigate the accident, including the US Coast Guard. What is important right now is that the original unedited video gets analyzed frame by frame and sent to the NTSB, who will share the information with the Canadians and US Coast Guard. Everyone is on the same team when it comes to investigating an accident like this regardless of location in order to conclude a final analysis.
@@samthomas1457yea, life is a gift given by god. It's down to him to take away who he chooses. Everyone has their written time, it's down to us to do the right things
It's a weird feeling to see what would've been those five people's same experiences from a first person perspective. Checking out their cabins, going into the ocean with rocking waves, helping the team, sharing stories, eating together, boarding the submersible, etc. It was an average day until it wasn't.
It wasn't his time to go. We all have a date and time. Just never know. All the times rush has been down in that sub and came back shows it wasn't his time yet. That time came Sunday along with the other 4 people.
@@ABSF49 So you trying to tell me that by accident that all of a sudden the 5 people on board all just coincidentally happened upon "their time" at the same time? BS. But I know you will not see logic, so you go ahead and keep believing whatever you want. That is the exact same thing as when that jet pilot decided to commit suicide and he took all the others with him. NO IT WAS NOT all of their "time" to go. Wow you people just get dumber as time goes by...
Although they did say this was the 3rd dive, and the 5th is the one that failed... I guess they made a successful 3rd and 4th dive? So he might have been ok if he went out next, it seems like there was one or two more dives before the failure.
This is a great footage. Rip to the ones who passed. This would be meaningful to everyone who is following the story of the Titanic and the Titan sub. Glad you made it and shared this with us.
Asking everyday people to help on a sub that is broken almost every day… to go down to depths that not even world class subs can reach and no idea as to why there are problems with the sub not working. Crazy. Insane evidence just sitting right here in plain view.
That’s like trying to say the Apollo mission explosion is evidence to any future rocket explosion. The issues seen here with the sub was not electrical, and clearly if you followed this case you’d know they died from a structural Error. with the Hull delaminating and exploding at depth. Had 0 to do with the electronics, which in any sub can be faulty or have issues.
The issues with the sub can’t visually be seen because it’s a structural issue with the Hull. Carbon fiber should have NEVER been used for the Hull. That’s were the problem in-lies
And every passenger was forced to sign a waiver saying OceanGate would not be responsible for their death. Always trying to cover their tracks while claiming "safety first."
Jake, I know the last few months have been probably really rough for you and your family. Survivors guilt is a real thing and I hope you are taking care of yourself. I hope to see a video from you soon. Miss seeing that infectious smile my brotha
James Cameron said something interesting recently in an interview about this. He said something like "now you have another ship wreck disaster caused by a Captain who ignored safety precautions--- while trying to go view another ship wreckage caused by a Captain who ignored safety precautions." It is all very ironic.
Wow man.. I haven’t been on this channel years.. I was 7 watching you, You really inspired me, and always made me wonder.. You are a great person and I’m so glad we grew up together. Hope to see you back soon.-
They can't help a guy backup a trailer or set something down with a crane and these same people built a submarine Damn this is like. It's sad how unsurprising this all is the more I learn about the people in charge
You are a class act my friend. This is the most valued piece of media in the world over the last week and you decided to be respectful. This gives me hope in people honestly. I think it is important you shared this but it's how you shared it that makes me proud . No exploitation of those that were lost. This is just surreal . The randomness of weather decided your fate. Just crazy.
I think randomness of weather is to get location easily, but that has to do nothing with why the Titan imploded, it was because ceo made it cheap and imploded
Dally not being on the tragic voyage was without a doubt due to weather. The malfunction was gonna happen the next trip ....random weather decided his fate ...and if any of you say weather isn't random simply watch a weather forecast for the week and compare lol but what are we talking about lolol
@@skydivenext They weren't suggesting that the weather had anything to do with the Titan imploding. They were saying that if the weather hadn't prevented them from going on that trip then they might have been the one in the imploded submersible rather than the people who were actually in it.
I truly admire you and your girlfriend. Aside from the negativity in these comments i wanted to say I have watched your videos for years. You're a pure soul. I cant imagine what you're thinking or feeling about the whole thing. I hope you find peace and continue doing what you love to do. I am glad you guys are safe. Keep being amazing. ❤
What I got from those explanations is that the PCs were just that, desktop PCs (probably running Windows for crying out loud) while not configured into any kind of redundant control system.
@@MrTedMcForeheadNot if it’s controlling a submarine or submersible. They make an OS for them. Windows is notoriously difficult to keep updated and well functioning on a regular computer. Also, a basic video game controller for maneuvering? What happens if one of the joysticks jams, its honestly mind-boggling that there was no redundancy planned into this submersible.
Any unused footage of the sub and any issues you heard them discussing would likely be a goldmine for investigators. I hope you have it safely archived.
Oopsie daisy, we done installed the thruster upside down, and didn’t realize it until we were 4000 meters under the sea! Solid outfit. Surprised the damn thing didn’t implode sooner.
Why would you archive it? When the company is at wrong and should pay for the disaster that they caused, Honestly I say give the investigators the footage of all the mechanical problems in hopes that the families at least get justice.

Yeah dude, my palms were sweaty feeling his nervousness regardless of the eventual outcome. Being bolted into something where you know they've had trouble with the motors disconnecting is legit frightening.
That was very thoughtful of you to drop the wreath honoring those 1500 or so passengers that lost their lives on the Titanic. So many are fascinated by the ship itself that they forget about all the lives lost.
To be fair to this guy, his video reminds us that the people involved in this were all real people. The world is posthumously ridiculing and barracking these people now. Its nice to see some degree of humanity expressed by this young content creator.
I think you did this really well. You recorded footage intended to depict an exciting adventure and ended up having to produce something like a eulogy. This is a piece of history now. RIP to those lost.
Hey man, glad you’re ok. It’s always chilling to hear about these kinds of experimental engineering disasters. I greatly appreciate your handling of the situation.
Hearing him explain issues with the sub 24 hrs before a scheduled dive and being so nonchalant about not knowing what the issue is on such important components of the sub like communication and thrusters is insane to hear
The truth is that other deepsea divers say you don’t ever think about the craft. This was a product and experience so that people who aren’t pros could go deep sea exploring. If a pro tells you that something is ok and there is an entire crew of people who aren’t panicking you won’t panic because you trust that they are fine. Also in this video you see how many times they stop the dive. Which shows quite a lot of care and not a group of people who say heck with it let’s do it anyway. They all seemed passionate but carful. We know now that the engineering failed as well as the owners insistence’s on ignoring pros something that many on this ship wouldn’t know.
To be fair, the environment these things go out in is pretty intense and there's always going to be issues, some more mission critical than others. It's pretty normal for things to stop working and for you to have to figure out what the problem is. It's not like he said "These important things aren't working, but we'll be fine". There's still a troubleshooting phase until the problem is fixed before a dive happens or is called off. I don't think Stockton Rush is a suicidal maniac, so he very likely did take safety pretty seriously given that he was piloting the thing. I think the big issue with Titan is that he was trying to be a maverick with the entire build. He went against normal protocol, used materials that were untested for the job it was required to be doing, didn't get certified, and ignored warnings by other professionals in the industry. It's really a shame that this could've been avoided if he had only been more cautious to ensure that what he was building was definitely rated to do what it was meant to do and more. It's just pure negligence and while I really appreciate some of the really cool work OceanGate has done on the titanic, he built a death trap.
So glad you are safe! So sadden by those who lost their lives! RIP. Pls do lot of research and questioning and put your safety first, especially on such missions that where not certified ! God bless you.
Uh and how did you decide that? It looks like they were diligently working on problems. Sadly seems they were so distracted and busy with relatively minor problems that they ignored the hull.
you definitely have a very good angel up there to protect you cause you had quite a few death scares until now . really happy that you are ok and you keep us informed and entertained with your videos
Getting the wreath for the long passed titanic victims was so wholesome. And then it ended up representing those that were lost on the pending excursion.
I am so blown away that this video exists. Thank you for being so careful in how you presented it. Showing the personalities behind this tragic event is so important. I know there is a lot of blame to throw around for what happened, but I’m glad you didn’t taint this video with any of that. There is plenty of time for the forensics later. And the fact that you were SO close to going has to be doing your head in! You absolutely would be in Davie Jones locker right now had you gone. Thank the Lord for crappy weather! Also, Christina did make a beautiful wreath…you should have her make another.
Someone stole your content on TikTok but the comments brought me here. I’m so glad I watched this. Great job capturing the experience and essence of the crew and their true objectives. The news painted them poorly, you’ve brought humanity to it. I appreciate you for sharing your experience and I’m glad you’re safe.
Painted them poorly? They fired anyone questioning safty, and used a window that was not rated for even close to HALF the depth they were diving too. It was literally a time bomb... when it failed to get certified he lied and said it was overly safe when Stockton cut corners everywhere. These people paid to test a death trap. His ego was bigger then the experts concerns..
I’m sure you guys were super disappointed not being able to go down after all that build up but in hind sight that storm ended up being the best thing to ever happen to you guys. Glad you’re both okay.
They could have gone down and not have any problems. That was mission 3 and the accident was on mission 5. They've done many dives before and none imploded.
I feel like you’ve given a voice to those who died. Thank you for giving these people back their humanity. This was incredibly haunting, but a great insight.

I’m very surprised he was stupid enough to just get aboard this submersible coffin without doing any proper due diligence on the submersible’s safety. Lack of life experience, I assume.
@@ALT-vz3jnI don’t mean to be rude, but not everyone has the extensive engineering experience (particularly regarding submersibles) needed to draw conclusions for themselves. Beyond anything, it’s mostly the fault of the higher-ups who should have prioritised safety above all else, so the passengers lacking knowledge would have been safe. Every day, millions (if not billions) of people get into various vehicles (cars, trains, and planes just to name a few) that they know little to nothing about on a structural and mechanical level. If this logic was applied here, one would be criticised and called “stupid” for getting into a plane without learning the intricacies and procedures regarding aeroplane maintenance, which is just unreasonable for the majority of people. In short, this is why we have safety procedures and inspections - it’s not a fault on the part of the average person who just so happens to be unfortunate while trusting that everything will be alright. [Edits for clarification]
@@clau0072I just personally wouldn’t call the trust those people had “stupid”. Naïve, maybe, but I’ve seen far too many “they deserved it” or “who would be that dumb?” comments over the past few days, and it’s honestly a bit harsh given that five people lost their lives (not to mention the grief left on family and friends). My original comment was aimed more at drawing the “blame” away from the victims.

I appreciate how kind and respectful you are to everyone in this video, glad you didn't go on mission 5. What scared me is the amount of problems the sub seemed to have all the time.
When many problems happen after the product is released for use, that’s a sign of poor engineering at the different stages of the product cycle, from research and design to testing.
Bro you're blessed, God definitely have a bigger purpose for you... you were smelling the breath of the spirit that take your soul 2 your maker... thank God every morning my brother... much love.
It's a tragic foreshadowing, not many can say they've been in something underwater that would not much later be completely torn apart parts and all, and I don't mean the sub parts
He was lucky this time. Hopefully he does his homework next time. Also, the Navy knew what happened on Sunday. This incident purposely clogged the news cycle to take the heat off the biden crime syndicate and corrupted government.
The only person terrified on that sub was the 19 yo who didn't want to go in the first place but did it for his father. I think when the 19 yo saw that his cell phone was dead, he lost it. Maybe demanded that they take him back to the mothership. Maybe he cracked. What 19 yo wouldn't?
I don’t see how they can even bolt the window on properly in all those shifting waves I would never go down in the thing SR background was in Aerospace not Submarine

I had the same thoughts. I wouldn’t want airplane pilot asking me for help with maintenance 😅 major anxiety if they don’t say we have professionals working on it.
This video will become more and more historical. Wouldn’t even be surprised if it’s used in court hearings. Excellent view into the tragedy; the foreshadowing makes it especially interesting.

Oh man, after knowing what happened a short while later, this is such an eerie video. This is the exact experience im sure those 5 people had leading up to that dive. How sad this video would've been if it was you that perished in that sub. All the excitement just to end in tragedy. Glad you're safe! RIP to those who were less fortunate.

I've been thinking about that. It would have been a great loss. This video is well done and very respectful. I wonder if he's got stronger feelings about Rush's recklessness than he's saying. Fwiw , in '93, our friend narrowly missed being killed in the first WTC bombing. He'd been in the garage twenty minutes before the explosion. Then, on 9/11, his father-in-law didn't go into work at the WTC. Afterwards, he didn't know what made him call in sick because he didn't feel that bad. My own take on it is a lot more mystical than his. But I roll that way. Here's to intuition. And listening to our best angels. Paz y luz ✨
@@mortalclown3812 concur. I listen to those strange random thoughts that occasionally pop up, telling me to stay home that day, or don’t go taking a trip somewhere. I used to ignore them. And nearly every time something bad happened nearby. I’ve even pulled off the highway on a trip to get gas simply because I didn’t like the traffic around me. I didn’t really need gas. But vehicles around me were starting to get too close and weren’t maintaining safe following distances anymore. So I got off just to get away from them. And when I got back on the highway, those vehicles I had been in amongst were all involved in a severe pileup. Listen to your intuition. It might just save your life. I no longer ignore my intuition, regardless of what it may cause me to miss out on. Because living is more important.
And I think people tend to believe that 'Human Technology' is FAR MORE ADVANCED than it actually is... I mean the ELECTRIC GUITAR was invented within my father's lifetime, and we've only had TELEVISION for around 100 years!
@@StreetPreacherr No, the basis of you're understanding is just flawed. This is an experimental sub which had questionable ethics, sub integrity, forewent any classifications, and was fully makeshift. Classified, approved, and genuine submarines have been around for hundreds of years and there have been manned operations to the Titanic since the 80s. There have also been multiple (including James Cameron) manned sub operations to the Mariana Trench which is over triple the depth of the Titanic's wreck. Technology is exponentially expanding - don't have a limited framework basing your perception of "Human Technology' on some makeshift submarine.
They weren't "customers". Stockton Rush filed every passenger as "crew" so if shit happens he won't get penalized as much. Maybe that's why they asked them to help and gave them suits with Oceangate logo so they could present it as evidence that they were indeed crew members.
Maybe that "helping" could involve passing a screwdriver or something similar. That makes you feel involved but you are not really doing anything important.

Watching this confirms the fact that the dive should have never occurred in the first place. 3 different but major issue arose with the submersible and yet they went ahead days after Jake's mission. RIP to all the lives lost but im very thankful you're okay Jake. This video was an amazing but tough watch given what just happened.
There's a reason why planes are retired, even if they seem fine, after a certain amount of hours. Especially for this sub with carbon fiber, where you would never tell if it's stressed or damaged structurally, under that immense pressure cycling, it should have been retired after every dive and built new every go - because safety is the highest concern when it comes to immense PSI like that.

What y'all have to understand is that the entire team is made up of diving enthusiasts who most likely have a background in engineering or at the very least a strong interest in it and would be more than happy to assist in sub repairs, but also to speed up the process to get back into the water.
Another part that I found extremely concerning was when they were in the sub and the diver outside was giving hand signals and the passengers had to ask Stockton what the signals meant. He should have been the one to see what the diver was signaling and giving the "OK" personally. How many "misunderstandings" had there been between Stockton and the crew?
Yeah, that got me too. It's insane that he wasn't right on top of that communication. It also felt bizarre they were asking some youtuber and his wife to help them out on the deck. That alone could have gone terribly wrong, and there should have been enough hands on deck to handle everything without needing help from guests. Whole thing just looked like amateur hour, honestly. Terrifying.

@gordongekko5886 It was also wound liner and you dont wind carbon like that. You weave it. Thats why people use it and copy it for aesthetic purpose, bc it's weaved. Not as drastic, but I was outside working on my car one day, a pretty powerful storm cell formed and winds picked up quickly.
He should probably pass it along to the Canadian TSB since they are the ones conducting the investigation.
So god spared his life just to kill someone else....... doesn't really make a whole lot of sense does it.
I was just going to say the NTSB should watch this video.

Asking everyday people to help on a sub that is broken almost every day… to go down to depths that not even world class subs can reach and no idea as to why there are problems with the sub not working. Crazy. Insane evidence just sitting right here in plain view.
It’s like trying to fly in a man made drone
Always trying to cover their tracks while claiming "safety first."

that or you only get 70% back and just takes big money on wolf tickets for actual repair until ready lol

RIP to all the lives lost but im very thankful you're okay Jake. This video was an amazing but tough watch given what just happened.
Wiring issues are irrelevant and usually present in everything that isn't made to the pinnacle of standards.
issues with machines like this are extremely common. Its like how a rocket will have a problem and scrub, but then launch people a day or two later.
