  • Here is a walkthrough of our 4BDR house on Andersen AFB in Guam. Sorry for the shaky footage, this was intended as a short temporary video for folks back home but since there was a lot of interest I left it up.

Is that 1220 Palau Loop? I lived in that house in 1978. We moved out when they renovated from Louvers to windows with storm windows as it is now. They also put in the central air.

@@noytheya So cool you all lived in the same house! We lived on Wake Lane in the 90's in a 3 Bedroom. Looked just like this, just a bedroom short. Yes, and they still have the same floors! LOL. I looked on Google maps for our old house, but it is gone. Does anybody know what happened to the housing area over on Wake Lane? There are no houses over there now. My son was born there and wanted to go back and see it!

Are you AD? I'm looking to enlist AD & would love to try & get stationed in Guam since I'm from there. I know it all depends on the needs of the Air Force though. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your service. I don't feel too bad for you though if you get to play with jets all day hahah

Thanks, I was in the military but now I'm a civil servant. I'm a huge fan of airplanes and airplane noise!

I've seen the base housing & it hasn't changed much since I've been away (a little over 6 years) ... From reading the other comments I hope I can maybe get a renovated unit. I'll be traveling with my husband & child so it's going to be something for him to get used to, being that he's from Alabama. I'm sure he'll enjoy an island lifestyle though.

+Tatyanna Travis They are supposed to start building new homes soon. There will soon be 3000 Marines stationed here so I think they are trying to be on the same schedule for their arrival but not sure. Im sure your family will love it here!

+noytheyah wow, they've been talking about moving Marines in since maybe 2009. I love the base, I used to work at the BX & my mom operates the car care center/shoppette. You may run into her one day. They just opened a new store at the Barrigada installation so she'll be managing that.

I just orders to Anderson. Being as you posted this a month ago, how are you liking it?

+Allenboy0724 Andersen or Guam? Andersen reminds me more of an Army base than AF. Its just not as "fancy" as your typical AFB. The Navy base reminds me of typical AFBs. Guam, love it. We are here for three years maybe more so we plan to enjoy our stay. The beaches are top notch, the people are great and there's plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy. Get you an Ooma stateside phone number before you come because calls to the US are long distance both ways.

+noytheyah Thanks man. How is the area outside of base? Would you suggest staying on base or trying to go off base for housing? I'm in Korea now so top notch beaches sound amazing. Thanks for the reply.

+Allenboy0724 Depends on your situation and what you're into. If you have kids, I highly recommend living on base just because there is so much to do. You can live off base with kids as well and the DOD schools have buses that pick up/drop off around the whole island. If you dont have kids or want a garage then you may want to live off base. The military gives a generous housing allowance but the electricity is pretty brutal from what I hear; not only in price but reliability as well. Since you're coming from Korea, this will feel more like home but not completely. The northern and central part of the island is crowded and busy, while the southern end is sparse and laid back. You CAN go to a popular beach on a weekend and still find parking. Even though the island is small (30x7miles) it doesnt seem so. There's no hurry'in on Guam either. Speed limits are mostly 35 everywhere and people stick to the speed limits, which is fine its their home Im just a visitor. You get used to adding a little extra time to get somewhere. If you're SCUBA or always wanted to be, you've come to the right place. Kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, kiteboarding, hiking, and enjoying life will keep you busy if you're outdoorsy.

+noytheyah Awesome, thanks man. There aren't many videos out there about the base and life there for Air Force members. Thanks again.

+Allenboy0724 You bet, I've got a few Guam videos up and will continue to put up more. I'm a civilian so there won't be much Airforce stuff but it will all be about Guam!

Why are the houses so small 😭😭😭 its meant for a fam of 4 not 5 also the rooms tho

This is a big house compared to the 3 bedrooms. Im guessing its about 2000 sq/ft +/-. I think the 3bdrm are about 12-1500.
