Flying the Wizz Air A321neo (my honest review)

- Is Wizz Air awful like they say, or is it a hidden gem? Today I’m flying Wizz Air from Stockholm to Gdansk, against my better judgment. I usually avoid budget airlines and ultra low cost carriers if I can. But at least we're on a beautiful new A321neo, and it's a short flight, just enough to get a sense of what this budget airline is like, and if it’s all hellish well, it’ll be over in under an hour. Come along as I discover the Wizz Air experience.
Flight information:
May 20, 2024 | W61732 ARN-GDN
A321neo 9H-WDT [age: 1 year]
Flight time: 1h05m
How I booked it:
Fully flex fare one way for $101.

Excellent experiences with Wizz Air, several times. Good prices and enjoyable flights. 🎉🎉🎉
👍👍
I took Wizz last fall, from Bucharest to Prague.
It was.... a flight. Full cabin, so pretty stuffy.
And yeah, those seats are rock hard... uncomfortable real quick.
I can't imagine taking them all the way from Europe to Abu Dhabi.
Yeah, agreed.
great video as always Gabe!
Thank you!
We last flew with Wizz back from Cyprus in March because our original flight was rescheduled several times so we changed the airline. I don’t fly with them too often, but for shorter flights they are completely fine. It was the first time I read the in-flight magazine for longer than 30 sec lol it had some interesting articles
That's nice, I didn't actually have time to read any of it!
Thank you
Welcome!
I did this exact flight last summer! Pleasantly surprised, easy purchase of ticket, easy check in, boarding, etc. Also, enjoyed Gdansk!
Great to hear!
Good job mate
Thanks!
Wizz Air is the best European carrier for me, period. Considering that I have a payment card that gives me access to airport lounges with usually somewhat better food than that of the classic carriers, I just eat beforehand and not interested in it in flight. If I need a snack, they're okay. The aircraft are new, quiet and clean, they're way better than say KLM or Lufthansa actually.
Also, keeping in mind the European 'business class,' your actual seat in an European A321 doesn't really matter, that's why I definitely will select a paid seat in the very BACK of Wizz Air flights: it is but the same seat as ANYWHERE in Europe, but you most certainly will end up with middle seat or entire row free to yourself, and the boarding is as easy and brisk as at the front row, because Wizz operates back doors all the time.
Interesting points! Still the seats would be pretty uncomfortable on a longer flight, in my opinion. Some European flag carriers have similarly hard and basic seats, but not all. KLM very much an exception. Their seats are very nice!
Awesome channel, Gabe. Having a great time setting up a raspberry pi with ADS-B while watching this video and the Mets/Wash game…Hmm, that guy behind home plate looks very familiar 😀
Thanks! Sounds like a good mix of activities 😄
AIRBUS A321 - MSN 11457 was completed in Hamburg.
Thanks!
Great video Gabe, I've flown Wizz multiple times and it was great. As far as A321neos go, their isn't that bad. Some carriers have even more seats on their A321neos, for example Ajet (AnadoluJet) have 241 seats.
And in July I'll be flying Wizz from Europe to Abu Dhabi, almost 6 hours, so hopefully it won't be that bad, but I know that on the route I'll be flying the plane is always fully booked.
All the best Gabe
Thank you! Where does Ajet find space for those extra two seats!?
@@airedition I'm sorry, I thought it was 241, it's actually 240 but that's still horrible because they have additional row on the left side (41 rows) with 2 seats, but in the emergency row where Wizz has 3 seats, they have 2.
So it's exactly 240, but I think it would be even less comfortable than Wizz because of that additional row being squeezed in.
Yeah that doesn’t sound very comfy! 😅
What happened to the Gabe Score? The Gabe-ometer? The Gabe Flight Guide? The Gabe Gist? The Gabe Guidance? The Gabe Leigh Flight Leveler? The Leigh Lowdown? Just spitballing…😊
Haha I don't know, I wasn't feeling it.
I Love The A321neo,I hevent Experience Wizz Air.Great Video And Info
Thanks! Yeah such a nice airplane.
Built in Hamburg it seems. Ha en bra vecka!
Thanks!
I expect a nice downgrade compared to SAA! Enjoyed the couple videos so much that I dreamt of SA last night.
Never flown with Wizz, mostly Ryanair, and other LCCs. For intra-EU they are good and I wouldn't choose FR or Wizz if the prices are over 100€ on the basic fare. But on the other hand, nowadays I don't even find reasons to fly Legacy airlines within the EU, beacuse the service is stripped down and I anyways go price sensitive.
It would be interesting with a Long 5-6h flight 🙃 They do Dubai which should be quite some hour, or something like ARN to the Canary islands.
Yeah they do have some seriously long ones! I think right now within Europe it's AF-KLM that offer by far the best experience. Especially if you get the Embraer at KLM or the A220 at AF. All the IAG airlines act and feel like LCCs, as does the entire LH Group more or less. You might have some smaller carriers that are still okay, but for the big ones, AF-KLM are clearly superior if you ask me.
By the way that's fun that you enjoyed the videos and they made you dream of SA! It is a dreamy place haha.
@@airedition Interesting! I will note AF-KL, which also have Transavia. My usual travel is to Spain which is IAG land anyways, but Vueling is fine. Where Ryanair does really show it's ULCC is the cattle style boarding -- Wizz here seemed chill!
I will start flying long haul again after years and years; even flag carriers have incorporated LCC characteristics. And in the opposite way, the ULCCs started having legacy prices as summer is here 😂
They would be good company but customer service is the worst 😮😢
A real shame!
Not great experience London -Athens - flight cancellation no alternative offered no UK261 compensation....
That’s no good! There are agencies than can help you get 261 compensation you know. They just take a cut. Well worth it!
When was that?
I'm curious why you needed the All in and full flex option? Baggage? Because I'd just give the 14 USD for the simple ticket.
I mentioned it in the video. I needed the flexibility. Didn’t use the baggage allowance.
I'm going on wizzair from Gatwick to Krakow.. it's a 2hr 40min flight. Safe to say that my ass will be no more after this flight.
I did it for 5 hours from Tenerife to Vienna. It was okay, I don' t get the fuss. Got up once for toilet, and to move a little, and that's it.
what seat number?
Worst airline & worst customer service in the globe 🌍
