I'm so tired of everyone bitching about the 2.5 engine. My family owns a jetta and rabbit with the 2.5 and they haven't had a single problem! It may not be the most powerful engine but its reliable and still very quick along with great gas mileage and a very unique sound.
These things are very comfortable and confident feeling on the road...the VR6 I drove with the DSG and paddle shifters gives you smooth, effortless gobs of power and I love it
I was pleasantly surprised with the new Passat. I was afraid that this model was going to be drastically cheapened like the Jetta when I first heard about it, but it actually seems to be really nice. I would definitely be interested in driving one, and I think I'd definitely go for the SE trim and 3.6. I'm really not a big fan of the wood trim in the SEL at all, I think the brushed metal trim looks a lot nicer.
I Have the Leatherette in my 2008 Volkswagen jetta and I love it!! I think its better then real leather my moms 2010 Volvo xc90 which is newer then my car is wearing already visibly!
I agree with you. My parents have a fully loaded GMC Aacadia and i do not understand why everything literally is hard plastic. Them my sister has a 2009 chevy malibu, and her car has soft touch dash and upper door panels. but hers cost much less. I swear GM is so backwords, and I just love how the Acadias look. I just wished it had a better build on the inside.
@Intechdude300 I am looking for points. It's pointless to make something feel good it it should be touched next to never. And vinyl can be really nice if done right.
I have a vw passat 2012 and I got to say that I am very disappointed with vw:( we have been with vw for 12 years and this new model is noting compared to the older one. The interior quality is pure shit and the acceleration is soooo bad. The older generation was quick, and fun to drive and the older one is boring and very slow. They removed the rear air vents, the handbrake is changed to manual when the older gen was electronic and the seats are uncomfortable!
hahahahahahaha whatever.. this car will be available in my country after three months ...but i really like it and this video was useful ...so thanks for sharing accept my apologies :)
Bland styling, inside and out. But it is classy and very Audi-esque. It's should age well in terms of styling. Too bad it's bound to have poor reliability, so it's styling won't be able to age well LOL! The transmission is unservicable, for example. Life time ATF fluid and a sealed transmission is better? Yeah right!
Only thing I don't like about this car is how bloated they made it. I loved the previous Passat but other than that it's a nice car. I was about to say the same thing about they completely cheapened out the Jetta and not the Passat. They really could do better, the Jetta's interior quality is unacceptable.
Why is everything cheap and bad supposed to be GM? It's cheap plastic by VW and Ford and Other manufacturers. I get so tired of here that knock on one manufacturer every time and especially a US manufacturer. To the point below, you don't need soft touch every where.
@kiadude121 One, I don't like Hyundai. 2, I didnt dislike this. I didn't like it either. If I don't like a video I don't rate it. Get over yourself an get a life, Mr. TH-cam Tirol.

The new Passats are so nice, and with three engine options and an affordable price, it can't be beat!

What is your obsession with hard-touch plastics in places that won't be touched?
that storage pouch in the back of the center stack would be a perfect location for rear AC Vents.
It's actually a really nice car, and I love that they offer a 6-speed manual. The hard plastic lower sections could use a nicer texture though.
Prouder VW owner after watching this vid =)
The "Pen Holder" you made reference to is actually the Valet Key holder and the clip for the pen is on the inside of the door.
VW did an excellent job on this car.
I Have the Leatherette in my 2008 Volkswagen jetta and I love it!! I think its better then real leather my moms 2010 Volvo xc90 which is newer then my car is wearing already visibly!
When you said pen holder in the glove department you where wrong but great video! a lot has changed in the Passat since the 2012 models

@Joshua Fleming Nop is built in the USA in it's entirety!
the 2011-present Volkswagen Passat is assembled in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States
Nanjing, China
I would love to have one. But I would get the base S trim to get the 5 speed! This totally makes up for the way they ruined the jetta!
I'm surprised how much I like this!
have you seen a 2012 camry yet?
I like the exterior color of it...
A car like this 2012 , used with about 20k , will cost about $15000. I think that is a steel.

the console is adjustable? how did you swing that? the ones i saw were not.
Did you drive the car? Is it really under powered?
well is there 2012 Volkswagen Passat SE 2.5L just in Usa ?
Does the car have door lights or are those just reflectors?
How reliable are these?
the new Jetta is supposed to be cheap btw, that’s why it’s the most selling car they produce
@BluePancake1000 and what's wrong with vinyl?
Why is there so much lag on the acceleration?
I have a 12 Jetta and I have the lag in my auto transmission as well. The lag gets a lot less once that motor warms up.
Never mind on the last comment I posted it before watching the entire video.
Shut the doors on any German car. Nice and solid. Old Mercedes Benz cars were the best for that.
i LOVE this car!
nice little car
@Intechdude300 lol ive seen hundreds of these and driven 3. great cars.
These cars are very well built for the price, I just don't get why VW doesn't produce their Jetta there.
Good job VW.
couldnt have been said better
my grandma has it
Is anyone using this kind od passat with 2.5 170 engine? Im willing to buy one and i would like to hear some opinions
@youcantfindme1998 A little bit!
Seriously a car brand that manufactured Bugatti, Lamborghini, audi and Bentley and makes a car gone cheap is very surprising and upsetting .
it is assembled in mexico
@zakyum Typical VW because a signal lamp isn't working which can happen to any new car? Umm okay...
sounds like the motor is a 6 and not a 5
I wish I could dress that way in January. lol sorry to be off topic. But I wear shorts year round up here in Pennsylvania. People call me crazy!
I loathe the new Jettas, but these Passats seem nice.

it shows how cheap they are with the car
Chime is so annoying. Too bad in the long run it will be just as unreliable as all other vws.
