With my Sentra I had to replace: 1. PCV Valve 2. MAF Sensor 3. Crankshaft and Camshaft position sensor 4. Brakes - Front And Rear 5. Struts and Shocks 6. Stabilizer Bar Links 7. Control Arms 8. AC Compressor and HVAC hose 9. Headlights 10. Drum Brake Wheel Cylinders 11. Tires 12. Spark Plugs - Changed at 110k miles 13. Coils I don’t count things like oil changes, brake fluid flushes, transmission fluid changes, coolant flushes, batteries because they are all preventative maintenance. So from my experience with this vehicle after driving it for 8 years, it has a stupid problem with drum brakes, because they squeak loudly from braking, you constantly have to clean them. Next is the winter issue. In a cold weather, the car starts and almost stalls, but keeps running afterwards. Be sure to warm up this car or you will be facing acceleration issues. If you start driving when the engine is not warmed up, the CVT will rev High and barely move the car. My car has a little over 116k miles. In the winter, since the car is FWD, get a set of 4 winter tires for this car, otherwise you will be sliding all over the road with all season tires when there is snow or ice on the road. It’s not like Mazda Cx5 or Rav4. Next is the Engine. The engine has a tendency to clatter when cold at times and the serpentine belt constantly squeaks when there is humidity outside. It should go away after a while. If you going to buy this vehicle, watch the CVT, Engine and Air Filters more often than other components. The CVT is very fragile and MUST get the fluid changed every 30000 miles or it will start acting up. Change the oil regularly every 4500 miles. Always check the air filters after every oil change. And do a Fuel System Treatment Cleaning every now and then. I get 35.2 miles per gallon with this car going city and highway combined. It’s not a race car, by any means but gets me anywhere I need to go. Keep in mind though that the interior of the car might become noisy with age, and it might sound that something is broken and loose when going over bumps and potholes. The interior materials are cheap and make noise and don’t hold up properly. Get yourself a steering a rubberized wheel cover because the steering wheel will wear fast and become very slippery. Every car has problems, but would I buy a car like this again? In all honesty, No. I would rather get myself a Subaru, Honda, Mazda or Toyota. I have nothing against this car, but it’s been more of a pain in the neck to stop. The brake pedal is soft but eventually stops the car. And for me that’s a big No No. I want the brake pedal to be responsive not delayed.
Great video I have an older sentra 2007 but looking at a 2014 model. How do you find the aceleration for merging on highways and passing power? Some people complained its sluggish how is your personal experience?
Thanks for watching! I try to use the owners manual for most of my timelines. Also depends on any aftermarket parts and what this manufacturers recommend.
For my first car there’s a 2014 Sentra with 97k miles. I won’t do anything crazy driving just work, school etc. is it worth it buy it in full for just under 9k
All I will say on that is that my personal experience with my car was 100% reliable. Never once had a single issue that took it off the road. I can't give you honest advice on the price without a LOT more info. Best bet would be to look at other comparable cars in YOUR area. The market price bounces all over the place based on time of year and location.
Im 19 and got it for 6k from my uncle and I can tell he didn’t care for it but all I’ve done is standard oil changes and tires and even got in a accident where my radiator was fucked and she runs fine with 300,000 miles, I’m just now upgrading standard parts just to keep the legend going. Definitely satisfies
How does the cvt run after all those miles ? I'm worried because I just bought a brand new 2019 sentra and I've heard all of the problems the Nissan CVT's can have. I guess if I do all of the transmission maintenance, normal maintenance, and I don't drive it like a race car I should be fine right? I'm hoping the car lasts me at least 10 years.
im not sure how the b17's are built but I drive my b16 like a racecar (im 19 lol) and the car is at 251k and counting. No issues, no preventative maintanence either. Literally do oil changes and fluid flushes every few thousand miles, worst thing thats ever happened was a misfire from old spark plugs.
Alright imma ask it here. Is it worth it to modify a 2014 Nissan Sentra S? Literally the lowest stock model in the line? Thinking of getting a new intake for it (also because the OEM intake is broken)
The only person that can answer that is you! If you want to mod it go for it. Other people's opinions only matter if you have the same dream or they are smarter than pretty much everybody else lol
Lol! If you want it to last you gotta treat it like you want it to last :). Seriously though, I do all the maintenance myself and I don't typically drive my vehicles like I'm 17 anymore.
Based on my personal experience only I would say yes! I had a great experience with this car. The only downfall I see is it has a week transmission...I never had a problem with mine, but there are quite a few complaints out there on them
I am not a mechanic nor an expert in the field. I also have no idea what the market is like where you are. I sold mine for about that with a lot more miles!
I own a 2016 Sentra with 135,000 miles. The CVT fluid absolutely needs to be changed. CVTs don’t tolerate improper maintenance. The main thing that kills them is constant heat exposure, and if the fluid is old, it can’t effectively cool the transmission.
Nissan themselves will say it is a lifetime sealed system that doesnt require maintenance/fluid changes. They are wrong, change the fluid every few oil changes. CVT isnt a bad technology, just delicate and requires regular preventative maintenance.
@@AGuyandHisProjects well I always hear about how bad the transmission is, either it can be replace or get a cooler for the transmission. Did you do that
