No matter how many I see, sunsets are always special, especially when they're out in the bush. Yep, we really don't need a huge fire - just a small one, and 'Oh My' how soothing they are. I love that earthy smell that comes with a light fall of rain... Mmmmm Thanks for taking us along on a nice little overnighter... Cheers
Wow, looks like you had near-perfect conditions on this hike, those views were beautiful! I like what you said about carrying the Mont gear (and also the luxury of a beer!) rather than going for ultralight all the time. I definitely went hardcore light after starting with low quality gear (I seriously started with a 90 litre pack, one of those boxy car camping fuel stoves and carried an eight man tent once!) but have recently come to the realisation there are plenty of hikes where spending a few hundred grams for a bit more comfort is worth it and not to the detriment of my experience hiking.
Totally thanks mate. Yes it’s an interesting journey hey the ultralight/ light hiking. I never weigh my beers though hahaha. But it is such a joy to have a lighter pack. Just not at the expense of a 3/4 foam pad and half a toothbrush Hahaha
@@KateGrarock yeah I think there's dumb weight and smart weight. A 5 kilo eight man tent is dumb and absolutely soul crushingly heavy to hike with, a mat that weighs 200 grams more but provides a better sleep is probably smart weight if it'll make you more refreshed for the next day
Gorgeous video Kate. Would have liked more wildflower close ups, but those views were just wonderful and lovely seeing your current set up. Loved the rock formations too. As always your enthusiasm and joy is infectious!
Thanks a lot Fiona. So funny you should mention the closeups. I’ve been upgrading cameras and took several out of focus shots. Still trying to get used to the new setup. But think I have it sorted now. Cheers.
Kate your videos keep me motivated and inspired during my working weeks. Thank you. I love the bird call in the beginning as I often hear that when I go out hiking.
Oh Kate, you have stolen my heart! Nothing beats sitting on top of a cliff or mountain top; just being! I did a lot of that at one of my favorite places while living in WA. The Stirling Ranges NP.
what a wonderful little trip, I could almost smell the soil. That combo of feeling amazingly recharged by nature mixed with the pange of sadness as you leave such a beautiful place is a unique one. Thanks for sharing Kate.
Good stuff Kate, you really have it good up in NSW. Also I'm totally loving this stuff sack idea for all the bedding rather then the individual bags for everything.
Kate, this video was beautifully put together. Excellent craft on your part. Mother nature was a great backdrop. I hike and abseil off cliffs in Sth East Queensland. Thanks for your inspiring and warm mentoring.
Just back from a jaunt in the Wollemi, now finding bits of bush in pockets and places it shouldn’t be. Lots of mountain devil - ouch. Nice to catch your vid while cooking dinner. Love your wicked chuckle! Keep your passion
I tend to roll my thermarest small like 10-15 cm wide then stuff half my sleeping bag in the bag. I then place the thermarest in the bag and stuff the rest of the sleeping bag round it. Then perhaps a puff jacket and clean clothes for sleep and a pillow. Then crunch it all down. Mont have great stuff bags (link in comments) that really let you crush it down. Haha happy hiking to you my friend
@@KateGrarock I think I know the compression dry bag you mean… with the eVent? I don’t have a sleeping bag right now, just a sheet but I can see how having a bag like this would be sooooooooo good for camp set up!
I’m with you on the ‘not always UL’ comfort thing. 👍 By the way apart from enjoying the imagery and learning stuff about vegetation etc from you, at the moment you’re taking me to places I can’t go - stuck recuperating from cancer surgery ❤️🩹 - so if I really try hard I can imagine I am there, can smell the eucalyptus, feel the cold on the tip of my nose and the weight of the pack on my back. So yeah, it’s very special what you do and I am grateful ❤
@@deaniew2210 I wish you every healthy healing energy with your recovery. So good to know there is a little chance to get your nature fix though my vids. Hopefully you can get back out there soon.

Thanks for making me want to get back outside :o)
Mate thanks so much for the support. It’s really appreciated. Love love love hearing people keen to get out there.

Nice one Kate. There is so much power in an overnighter/micro-adventure; can see it 'filling your bucket'. Even just watching it helps fill mine.
