Scrapman kept saying how it wasn't very agile at high speeds, but was at lower speeds, and perfectly described how actual hydrofoils act, real foils also bounce a lot in anything other than straight line calm water
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The only exception to how it behaves like a hydrofoil, is I think he's comparing it to the hydrofoil racing death machines that can turn way sharp. Those are in fact not normal hydrofoil, lol
Video idea : might not be possible but breaking the sound barrier using only wing blocks? Or even the top speed you can reach with only wing pieces or racing with only wing pieces
Your steering issues when going through the water at hydrofoil speeds does make sense, hydrofoils usually aren’t supposed to steer hard when they’re moving so fast. That’s not to say they can’t steer but they have a much better time when they slow down.
Hey Scrapman, have you heard of foilboarding? It basically takes the surfboard you use for sailboarding or wingboarding and adds a hydrofoil to it, so you get lifted out of the water as you go. It's kind-of like a real life version of what you were trying to do, though I'm not sure if you'd count it as a single hydrofoil or two. It attaches to the board at a single point, but it has two wings that are arranged a bit like a model plane. It's crazy to see in real life and I wonder if you could take inspiration from it for a build. The wingboard variant, in particular, could lead to something interesting when it comes to propulsion and turning.
22:06 Can you PLEASE forward that info and that section to the developers? You have a reproducible proof (even on video) of a pretty annoying bug (and identified the reason triggering it) many are suffering from all the time. Probably that is enough motivation for them to correct the switching from build/repair mode to play mode. Thanks.
@@Grubbyvrr The transition from build/repair to play isn't always correct (can't give you an exact percentage, but let's say in 20% of the cases it makes a mistake changing the physics of the object). It is not always visible, if something went wrong (ScrapMan recognized the weird patches in the water besides the vehicle). Sometimes you can't see that the transition failed. So you're trying to build and test and modify and test and can't distinguish, if you built in a mistake (which is of course the first thought) or the transition bug struck again. So you can easily end up modifying in the wrong direction making things worse. I hope it's clear now, why that's an issue.
I do think that weak gyros to assist steering would have been benefitial. Also, your worry about its looks can be fixed since you placed lots of blocks near the start of the build which didnt change how it worked whilst looking bulky
For the turning you could’ve activated one booster to give you sharper turning like when your turning right your left booster could activate and when your turning left your right booster can activate and it’s really simple and only takes 2 “or” gates.
Re turning via a lean, it’s down to your centre of thrust. All forces can be considered to be pushing only on the centre of mass, so when you’re not using your boosters your thrust is very low and so the lean turns the vehicle more. Once you turn on the boosters, the two are very close together and so there’s very little turning ability.
Man I'm so happy to see you keep posting I was very young when I was watching those w vids and I still remember the good times and laughts your content gave the little me, now I'm older "very" and your content is the same as long ago AMAZING
Maybe try having the back rudder going up rather than to the side? When you lean the rudder keeps sending you into the water so if it goes up instead it’ll both assist with turning and keep you out of the water
putting the air brakes to the back instead of the front would help turn a lot better without nosing down. Also you could tilt the boosters a bit so it helps pushing you out the water so there's less wedges needed, so less friction, which is more speed
Slide the boosters out laterally by one block and then use asymetrical thrust to add torque to your turns. This works when you've got one pivot point to turn, which you do on this buid.
one little modification that would be good would be to put some buoyancy blocks somewhere int he upper section so that when its stopped it still floats, rather than just sinking
This reminds me of my "catamafoil" or "hydromaran" catamaran that comes out of water. Got 2nd place in grand island tour with no glitches. It was very finely tuned. Small changes in angles would make you oscillate up and down, fly, or dive into the water. This was before the space update
Hi.. scrapman me and my friend's are making a hide and seek map in scrap mechanic for you guys its called crazy robot factory hide and seek ...we are very excited to see you guys play it when it's done in 2 days... we also made spots that are let's say very funny for everyone
From the team we also made a spot specifically for you to use.. it is funny and you get to play music from it. It's hidden in the red trash cans .. hopefully kan doesn't see it first 😂😂😂
I think if Scrap could hinge the body with the hydrofoil with the the turn ie putting steering hinges that hinge parallel to the lean, not by much only a couple degrees. It would be hard with two connection points but maybe using pistons could be useful.
Multiplayer Monday idea: TINY speed boat battle in the harbour, 3 power cores max no shields or explosives. Just a pure dogfight. Carrier is the border
Video idea: you know the boat that look lika a dolphin, that can go a small amount under water and shoot out over water. They can bank and sort of moves like a dolphin :)
im currently building one of those ships that becomes a platform( they rotate 90 degrees in the water and float vertically rather horizontally. :) maybe an idea for you. love the videos scrapman, i love trailmakers, give my love to the development team please. I love their game!
maybe a mono hydro foil battle with yzuei. but this time, rebuild it with a big suspension, and a weapon slot. I think the big suspension would fit the esthetics of what you were going for. even though it looks goofy at first.
You could have tested those back fins which are above water with less of turn.. you had them on 10-15 degree.. just 1-5 could help without too much sacrifice.. add small things together for bigger effect
You could try to make a jet ski like the sea breacher thingy. I built one it's pretty small and really fun. Or make a mp challenge to make one and race
Not sure if this is already a thing but a vehicle that flys using a cylinder of wings around a single cockpit. The wings in some way would e the only propulsion with helicopter engines or something.
Sorry ScrapMan, this looks more like a black sub on top of a little red boat. A foil needs a large wing under the water not on top but cool invention 👍
Day 27 of asking ScrapMan to play GearBlocks 🥺 Also, challenge Idea. I'd love to see a maximum complexity Mech battle. Wheels or legs, but it has to use arms with weapons on them, and have a cockpit for the pilot!
You should have it were you would have a group of people like 4 and each on of you picks something to do use on like speed durability damage and they focus most of there blocks to make it succeed in it and battle echother so we can see what is better
Can you make a plane or hovercraft or helicopter or submarine fight without using any airborne parts that include wings, fins, rudders, and anything that gives lift or adds drag. Other than that, your rules.
SCRAPMANNNNN EVOLUTION DOGFIGHTERSS PLEASEEEEE. It could be separate evolutionary paths (each player sticks with the same plane they had from the start but changes it each round) so that there's more diversity and like reactionary evolution and stuff Eg if your opponent uses thrust vectoring, next round you could put on an emp instead of an extra smart cannon
Hi scrapman. Day 17 of asking you to make a gyro free stol plane (short takeoff and landing) or a bush plane and try to get the shortest takeoff and landing you can (in trailmakers)
At minimum, at least one Gyro only for stabilisation. Otherwise, it's just a world of pain. Don't ask me how I know, ask the people that built and flew the Harrier.

I’m pretty sure he tried that before and failed
But maybe he can try again
@ he tried with buoyancy blocks and gravity but I don’t think with only wings
How wpulf thag even work
I think you can angle the wings and spin them to produce thrust@@AlechiaTheWitch
@stairgoms isn't that just propellers? And also i don't know if trailmakers would like that. It does glitch ojt alot with things lime that

I kinda envisioned it was going to be a giant wheel that skimmed across the water.
Same
😂

This would be a cool part 2 or hydrofoil and a reason to be on the other map for the wind and waves

How are people struggling because of it? Genuinely curious

@ this makes SO much more sense , thanks for the explanation
thanks for pointing this out

A monofoil??? You mean a surfboard? Snowboard? Because those also match
Also that thing with the underwater wing? 😂😂😂
Edit: it is called a monofoil 😂😂😂😂
its not a surfboard or snowboard, were u high when u said that? its a monofoil
Ima be honest... never heard of a monofoil
@brutas_warman well i promise you they exist and thats exactly what they are lol
add guns and you have another multiplayer episode
i dont think yzuei wants to right now cause he's hanging out with his guys currently. maybe again with moonbo, kosmo and kAN?
Moonbos definitely not happening and kosmo doesnt do trailmakers bc it doesnt perform well on his channel @@humanityland
I don't remember if you've already done this, but combining vehicle battles with evolution could be interesting.
21:43 scapman did a grind in a hydrofoil!
Could you please do more high seas map vids?

Video done....
Thanks for watching!
😂😂😂
Scrapman has to be my favorite TH-camr his videos are always the best 😅
Video idea, hover battle bots , max power core is 15 amount of building blocks is 130
As a gyroscope (like everyone else), I'm very greatful to make this build possible.
Many thanks to all you gybroscopes out there.
Scrapman is slowly turning into a pun god.

monhydrofoil,
coin it and ship it.

I thought by your description that you were making an amphibious monowheel+hydrofoil build. Sounds like a cool video idea, tbh.
I think if Scrap could hinge the body with the hydrofoil with the the turn ie putting steering hinges that hinge parallel to the lean, not by much only a couple degrees. It would be hard with two connection points but maybe using pistons could be useful.

A mono-hydrofoil 0:20
Now we need a mono hydro foil build battle, evolution and battle videos. 😂
Water unicycle
You could also have added a servo between the body and foil so the body twists and uses the rear fins
the fins in the back make such a big difference because in the water your reverse aerodynamics mater and fins don't block aerodynamics
Hey scrapman, it would be cool to see you make another iteration of this with an underwater wing, like real hydrofoil
maybe a mono hydro foil battle with yzuei.
but this time, rebuild it with a big suspension, and a weapon slot.
I think the big suspension would fit the esthetics of what you were going for. even though it looks goofy at first.
0:52 for second I though we would This is made possible from Jake from State Farm
You could have tested those back fins which are above water with less of turn.. you had them on 10-15 degree.. just 1-5 could help without too much sacrifice.. add small things together for bigger effect
Day 7 of asking Scrapman to do Battlemechs in Trailmakers
Yessssssss
If you look up "Sky ski" it's a real life version of what you've done here only that it's towed by a boat.
Scrap , can't make it faster at turns
Me: quantum rudders
Awesome! thank you!
i think the best way to improve high speed turning is to put on bigger hydrofoil fins
Differential boost would be nice for turning
I suggest the problem is obvious: You need a Christmas head now that Halloween has gone. Change your head, and all problems will go away.
would love to see a max complexity hydrofoil combat ship and a battle with them
I think these exist in real life, no?
Video idea:human guided missile vs spaceships
Day 6 of asking for self flying planes in trailmakers
Hydrogen foil battle would be interesting
You could try to make a jet ski like the sea breacher thingy. I built one it's pretty small and really fun. Or make a mp challenge to make one and race
you should have made an e-brake to make it turn sharper
Not sure if this is already a thing but a vehicle that flys using a cylinder of wings around a single cockpit. The wings in some way would e the only propulsion with helicopter engines or something.
2 monofoils vs 1 speed bout. (I am bad at spelling)
Sorry ScrapMan, this looks more like a black sub on top of a little red boat. A foil needs a large wing under the water not on top but cool invention 👍
You effectively made the hydrofoil jetski.....
video idea: supersonic hydrofoil
Might be able to improve the turn with a sail on the top
Reminds me of a Star Wars build the separatist droids used that was a vertical scooter
7:42 … just… angle the thrusters so that the exhaust bit is angled downwards to provide slight upward thrust?
NOW DO A MULTIPLAYER RACE WITH THESE
Day 27 of asking ScrapMan to play GearBlocks 🥺
Also, challenge Idea. I'd love to see a maximum complexity Mech battle. Wheels or legs, but it has to use arms with weapons on them, and have a cockpit for the pilot!

i think you could say this is a 0-foil, since none of the foils/wingpieces are actually in contact with the water
Faster speed = worse handling.
This is essentially a torpedo.
Can you make a windsurf and maybe a windsurf foil? Plsss
This is NOT an Hydrofoil💀💀💀
Also hydrofoils only have 1 "wheel" and the bouncing is normal
What if you made a one legged hopper yoke thingy like in the pixar intro
Day 8 of asking Scrapman to battle with mechs
How about monodro a mix of mono wheel and hydrofoil. It sounds like monodrone and sounds more smooth then anything ealse I can think off
Fight with water crafts that can only (or mostly) turn by leaning?
Now try to build a non-o-foil! It's a mono foil without a foil at all!!
Video idea: hydrofoil car
15:20 tragic boating accident
Challenge: build a plane that has no engines or gyro steering and you can only use 75 blocks to build it
Have you made jet skis yet and maybe do jet skis vs planes
do a multiplayer fight without any rules other than block limit, weapon limit , and no energy shields
I still wanna see you guys recreate twisted metal cars and have a battle royale
Try having the boosters angle
Next step is hydrofoil pod racer
Trailmakers unicycle triathelon when?
Can you make a plane or hovercraft or helicopter or submarine fight without using any airborne parts that include wings, fins, rudders, and anything that gives lift or adds drag.
Other than that, your rules.
Watch the movie Tenet, it shows why hydrofoils can’t turn sharp while in hydrofoil mode

Day 5 of asking when is the next Sky Mechanic video
Why not use quantum rudders to steer?
paint the bottom blue or glass so it disappears in the water
i want to see them build smaller dirtbikes and hit jumps and stuff or do like a dirtbike evolution
could of used boosters 4 boosters to rotate your build on your centre
Weaponized MP fights upcoming I assume 😁
