    Smart move ,boss ! I predict Feds going to pause on 14th Dec FOMC meeting . Hope SSB rate can remain above 3.1% in Jan when Feb tranche is out . So i can draw out some of my excess cpf OA n buy . Every 6 mths collect pocket $ ! We must monitor closely USA 10 yrs treasury bill . Local banks counter kept dropping as investors predict rate peak soon which will affect " net interest margin" profit . Reits slowly creep up . Lucky my wife n i buying keppel reit at $0.795 few weeks ago with cash n Cpf OA. Also Mpact at $1.31 & $1.41.

    early 2023 months ssb allocation is around 10k. so if coming dec 2023 is also 10k allocation and if someone sells old ssb of 20k and buy new means they might lose the 10k good old reasonably good ssb rate.

    Actually given the current interest rates with the low risk premiums of Singapore denominated investment grade bonds, wouldn't it be better to allocate a larger chunk to long duration SG bond funds?

    When should we sell our ssb to buy another ssb at a higher rate? how much % increase is needed to be more profitable?

      Hi weihern, simplifying it, selling should be before 25th of the month. I guess it should be 0.5% more than worth the effort? Do note it may not be full allocation sometimes 👌🏻

      FED is fearful that another rate hike will surely caused a more serious recession hence the “hold” on the last rate hikes. The 2% is the bench mark but as long as inflation is not moving any higher but sustaining at a level FED can live with..rates will hold. There’s signs that FED will decrease rate in March 2024 n as market is forward looking n is trading higher based on this sentiment.

    • @user-xt5tx5yv9f
      @user-xt5tx5yv9f 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@david888a The 2% is a hard target and powell says many times he will surely want to bring down inflation to 2%. From the data so far the economy is still v strong.
      Therefore if inflation is sticky and dont go to 2%, they will have to hike again. At this point it looks like bringing down inflation to 2% is more impt than trying to avoid a recession that did not happen yet.

    • @david888a
      @david888a 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-xt5tx5yv9f the 2% might b the hard target but it’s an old n rigid target that in today’s market with higher labour cost..etc is not realistic. Last inflation rate was 3.2 from 3.7 n consensus was 3.3% hence the rate held, 2.5-3% might be the rates acceptable to the FED moving forward…

    I would think interest rate will move up again. US treasury still need to sell their virtual money to sustain their luxury lifestyle and this time, china, Russia and arab are not helping them. There should be another cycle later and i doubt the interest rate will reduce as what many expert predicting next year which is why SSB drop. with 1.3 trillions need for US treasury , unlikely people would buy their treasury at low rate.

    What the kiasu folks don’t realize is that it’s better to enjoy higher allocation for a slightly less guaranteed rate, cos small allocations can’t gain any meaningful amount of interest anyway. Holding out for the highest rate = 100% oversubscribed. Same for T-bills.. the one right after the record breaker = guaranteed much lower rate 🤣
