The bishop of the Diocese of Austin, Texas will be ending the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass at his Austin Cathedral as of March 19 2024 - feast of Saint Joseph. This Sunday traditional Latin Mass was attended by 600 laymen. Dr. Taylor Marshall comments.

There was one also at St Timothy's in San Antonio weekly at 12 :30 on Sunday. The priest is very holy.

Thanks for covering this! This was my parish since I converted into Catholicism in 2020 because of the TLM. Now that is it banned, most of the 800 of us are going to the SSPX in austin. Pray for us and pray for the Church.

I'm glad you're not giving in to this scam of doing Novus Ordo as orientem. Don't enable this fraud.
Plan B, look for an old fashioned Novous Ordu mass that is not "modernist" or progressive or blessing gay or unmarried couples or giving holly Eucharist in the hand.
Usually in Hispanic neighbors. Though I think mass there could be in Spanish. Spanish and latin are quite close you will understand it.
Here in Mexico all masses are like that, we don't have the latin mass nor the "progressive" mass like in places in US though communion was in the hand in many parishes during COVID, including mine so I went to another one close by.
And Yes, Jesus is still in the Holly Eucharist in Novous Ordu mass, not in the unfaithful progressive mass of course.
But this won't be for long. Bergoglio is changing the liturgy. We will have to go to secret underground mass. Remember you can always take spiritual communion. And angels will give us holly communion too.
God revealed to me this during COVID. Visually.
God bless you. You are at the right time exactly at the right time, but this are the end of times, and because this is the true Church, persecution will come from within not only from outside. Is part of being in the real Church and really following Jesus.

Where I live I have to go to a SSPX chapel to be able to attend the TLM.
Lots of young families and almost standing room some days. I love it there!

In the Austin diocese you can attend St Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Dripping Springs, Texas for the TLM each Sunday.
If this is a diocesan church, the days of the 1962 missal may be numbered. Also, what is a "Communal Penance Service"?
This is so upsetting. I’m calling and writing the bishop. I encourage all to do so
I am from the Neocatechumenal way Catholic Communities. Neocatechumenal communities are Frutos of the Vatican II. Taylor Marshall is right about Latin roots. Neocatechumenal is not about changing church or liturgical rites because Neocatechumenal it is a rite of it's own like the ordo like the holy orders. Plus, Neocatechumenal way ends. Neocatechumenal don't have problems to taking the communion by mouth. Neocatechumenal communities are very careful of receiving communion. Novus Ordo should be translation of the Latin Mass and being more participation of the mass as Vatican II intended to be. Novus Ordo is out of control .
Organize a protest every Saturday at the Bishop's home and pray the rosary. Very powerful!

I got married at this parish in the TLM. The TLM masses were flourishing during COVID while the novus ordo masses were empty. So sad to see this is where we are..
He obviously is doing what the Pope wants, Keep in mind that Austin is very very liberal and they are not expected to be loyal catholics. So I am not surprised.

I used to go to the Latin mass at the cathedral once or twice a mind. We’d drive from Bastrop to go there and those masses were full of young families. There were never any empty seats there. I’m saddened to see this happening in Austin, a city that needs all the spiritual help it can get. I’m now in Paris Tx in the diocese of Tyler. We are praying for again good bishop to come to us.

Our Catholic Pastor celebrates a TLMASS here in Gilbert, AZ at the local Gilbert Cemetery Chapel. Of course it is not as large as the Parish Church, but nevertheless, it is well attended. People want the Latin Mass. The Traditional Catholics are not to be swept under the rug. Nope, it won't happen! Viva Cristo Rey!

I am up in Glendale. There is only one TLM near me and it's in one of the worst areas of Phoenix. It's also a 40 minute drive for me. 😢 I wish we had one close by. I am going to start attending regular mass then watching a TLM after... it's all I can think to do.
Fr Keith Kenney celebrated the Mass that my wife and I received Holy Matrimony at.

When we were invited to attend the Mass and ceremony where our daughter was to have her final vows, I had strong misgivings as she was fast tracked to her final
Vows. We flew to Italy sadly. When the ceremony begun in Latin , I can’t remember if it was before or after the TLM, we followed it with the given English/Latin translation. Surprisingly my sense of unease totally disappeared just when the ceremony began and reading the beautiful traditional prayers of offering my daughter to God in marriage. The beauty of the prayers, hymns and solemnity of the whole ceremony overwhelmed me in gratefulness. That was my turning point in loving the traditional liturgy which had brought me to a different level of spirituality. The Novus Ordo prayers are mundane, music hellish, in comparison to the experience of heaven experienced in a solemn TLM.
Except after the EF goes away in March it will be replaced by an ordinary form, i.e the Novus Ordo, in Latin, celebrated ad orientem and with the same choir, so none of your compliants hold. I do agree too many prayers, offering spiritual protections were removed from the ordinary form (I also believe this is why Jesus gave us the Divine Mercy as compensation), and so more liturgical reform is needed to add them back. However, from your comment it doesn't sound like you have this level of understanding of the Mass. I for one stopped attending the EF because I couldn't fully keep the liturgical calender. Honestly, for a lay person with limited time, the LoTH is an improvement over the Roman breviary, and now this problem has been solved for me by making the Austin's latin Mass the ordinary form. I only hope it will still be here a two years from now, but this will probably depend on attendence.

I believe this! When I was a kid there was an altar rail, and communion was on the tongue. I never practiced, but I came back to Catholicism at 55 years old. I was surprised and a little disappointed by how secular it has become.

My beautiful church! We are so sad . As I understand it Bishop Joe received direct instruction from Rome this week and there wasn't any getting around it. The TLM was instrumental in my conversion and the conversion of so many over the last few years Please pray for our Cathedral and especially our wonderful priests and Bishop Joe.

I'm going to go out on the limb here and agree with you about the Traditional Latin Mass. It's what caused me to come from Protestant into Catholism.❤️
Back in the late 50’s I was an altar boy and loved being a server at the Latin Mass. By 1969 and after Vatican II the Latin Mass was pretty much over. I think it was a mistake. Also removing the Holy Communion rail and moving the altar was a mistake as well. Church attendance has been in decline ever since.
I agree with Cardinal Müller: Global rejection of Fiducia Supplicans should give the Vatican and Pope Francis some ‘food for thought’. I believe we should pray for sinners to repent but not give sinful behavior a blessing. We all need to avoid sin as well as people, place or behavior that leads us into sin. I’m 93 years old and was brought up hearing the Latin Mass, it was the onlyMass. I was told that the Mass was said in Latin because, Latin is a dead language and words are and never will be changed. I had my missal that had Latin on one side of the page and English on the other. After Vatican ll, I got rid of the Missal 😢. My heartfelt feelings are that Vatican ll has been a detriment to the Catholic faith.
It breaks my heart what people from your generation went through. My Grandma used to say the same as you. Do not despair. Us young people will never let the Latin Mass go. We will fight. ❤✝️

I was on my way to becoming Catholic in 2018-19. I pulled away. Just felt so lost when I watched and listened to Francis. I could not detect that he loved Christ. I could not detect that he is a true follower of Jesus. I’ve read his writings, they don’t make sense to me….I was raised without religion so I don’t have a background to rely on. I am a follower of Christ. I love Him more than life itself …if I can’t sense that He is loved by a leader, I cannot join. I am 77 and probably will not join any church. I was baptized many many years ago Age 21, thankfully. In a non-Catholic church …thank you Dr. Marshall for all you do. I have your great Infiltration book.😊✝️🙏❤️✝️
Neither Francis nor any pope is our 'leader'. Only Jesus Christ is our leader. Francis is not the church. His only job is to guard the faith. The doctrine and dogma is followed, not a pope. He is a failure bc he is a globalist and is attempting to destroy the faith. I consider him a heretic, therefore, not pope, but such a declaration cannot happen until he dies. This is something terribly misunderstood by people outside the Catholic Church and sadly also many inside. Seek an FSSP or SSPX priest for some traditional guidance if at all possible. You'll be glad you did. There are also other rites besides the Roman. There is Byzantine, Ruthenian, Melkite, and others available.

I have been a "cradle- Catholic" 59 years. I just found the Latin Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral in 2015 from home schooling Mommas. I had little useful knowledge of Latin, though, I can read Spanish. I felt like a little child, attending The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass, desperately trying to follow it in Latin. I believe the Holy Spirit reminded me, "Unless you become as a little child, you can not enter The Kingdom of Heaven". So, I felt small and enamoured with the simplicity, clarity and perfection.
Once, after the Asperges Mei " wash me clean", when Father removed his robe and put on the chasuble, I heard,"Jesus removed His cloak, tied a towel about Him, and began to wash their feet" (as in The Last Supper). I still weep at How much has been stolen from us these fifty-two years!
Bishop Vasquez' letter was devastating.
I do recall listening to priests and laymen who assist in exorcisms, say the praying The Most Holy Rosary, in Latin, drives the evil out of the posessed. I believe because it was one of the three languages hung above Our Lord's head, listing His Condemnation.

This Fr. Z you refer to was a N.O. ordained priest who later joined SSPX. Was he ever conditionally ordained in the old rite? Because the new one may be invalid. Fr. Z loves to boldly intone the praises of Francis ("O Francisco") as part of the First Friday prayers in San Antonio. A "fantastic priest"? It would seem so; he believes in the fantasy of Bergoglio's "papacy."
SSPX has 2 Masses a month on Sunday at a hotel south of the Cathedral. Definitely an option.
Maybe you'll even open a SPPX parish some day, as that's the reason the this was done: to push the most radical litrugical zealots into the SPPX. The SPPX is now kind of like a reservation-a safety valve against schism over liturigcial issues. As for me, I will be happy with the oridinary form now that it's celebrated in Latin, ad orietem and with the same choir.

I don't understand WHY people won't take communion on the tongue! All the Priests and Deacons are very skilled at distributing the Body of Christ on the tongue, careful and discreet. Tip you head back and say AMEN, put your tongue out and receive Jesus Christ. It is holy, it is submissive, and it protects the Body of Christ. It is the most precious and reverent way to receive communion.
Are deacons' hands anointed . Cause i only receive on the tongue from the priest only.

I'm really fearful for the future of the Roman Catholic church. I was confirmed last Easter, but it didn't take long for me to realize that my church was becoming more and more progressive. What really did it for me was when the church theater group put on a horribly cringey play about racism and diversity. The priest didn't even give his homily. I never returned for another Sunday Mass since that day. Instead I've been attending an Eastern Catholic church and learning more about the theology. I feel like I am being spiritually fed now.
There's something to say about us younger Christian craving the ancient and the traditional and not finding it in modern churches.

I am 75, converted to the Church in 1969 due to TLM only to see it disappear in 1970’s. More recently I’ve returned to TLM from NO and found it deepening my reverence for the Blessed Sacrament. There are two parishes near me that currently offer NO mass in Latin and I can tell you it is not the same as TLM. I’ve learned when powers that be try so hard to suppress something, stop and ask yourself why? Appreciate your thought on this and thank you for covering it.
Hi. I’m 75 also. I was a cradle Catholic who left the Church in the late 1960s. I reconverted back in 2014. I remember the Latin Mass and I remember how shallow the NO Mass seemed. It did not sustain me. When I returned, I was fortunate to attend a parish that was very devout. That all changed during the pandemic and after.
It’s not the language it’s the prayers. The prayers are very different.
The Anglican Use liturgy sounds alot like the TLM translated into Elizabethan English. Quite beautiful. Maybe you live near an Anglican Use parish.

There's something else, in addition to Holy Communion in the hand: The laity no longer learned that Holy Communion is The Real Presence of Our Blessed Lord. The laity stopped hearing The Truth of the Gospel, and began ONLY hearing "love, love, love", "kind, kind, kind", and "be 'nice' to eachother". Our Lord says "Love one another as I have loved you", and His standard is different than that of the world and what is currently the poor excuse for "Catechesis" that is attempting to pass today. It's heartbreaking....
This is not isolated Taylor. Did you see what happened at Saint Anne’s TLM in Belmont (Perth, Western Australia). The Rector was ousted.

I arranged the first night of our honeymoon to be in Bruges so we flew from Lydde. The next morning we sat through two sermons, one in French and one in Flemish. The following Sunday we were in Austria, and the sermon was in Swiss German. On our way back we stayed with our cousins in Holland, and the sermon was in Dutch. Then he was given an extension to his leave, and he took me to Benbecula where the sermon in South Uist was in Gallic.
Sermons are not necessary, and in every case the Latin Mass was the same.

I have been saying for years it’s not that the mass is said in Latin. It is what the mass is saying. I would be very happy if they took the 1962 Latin mass, and said it in English and replaced the nuvis ordo with that.

You make good sense - Host in your hand certainly does erode the sanctity of its meaning. When I was in Catholic School in the 60’s, we were taught in a very structured way - not with “nasty nuns” as people say, but the focus was on the meaning of the mass, the meaning of the host, the importance of confession before ever taking communion. There is a right of passage leading up to receiving communion by a Priest. It’s not to be given to you as a token - No. It is to be placed on your tongue as a gift only after you completed your own examination of conscience and made yourself worthy of receiving Christ. It’s all changed now - and not in a good way.
Yet, Jesus specifically commands, "TAKE, eat."
We have a Traditional Latin Mass parish in Phoenix, Arizona. St. John Bosco chapel on Central and W. St. Charles Ave. We also have a small Homeschool Community that keeps growing.

@Mr80jb No, the early church language was Greek. The "Traditional" Latin Mass wasn't instituted until 1570, to unify the various rites used across Christendom and ensure Protestant influences weren't creeping into the liturgy.
@judojeffro Jesus and his disciples spoke Aramaic, a language close to Hebrew, and the evangelists wrote the Gospels in Greek, lingua franca of the Mediterranean area at the time. Christians living in Rome adopted Latin and it became the Church's language in the fourth century. Saint Jerome translated the Bible into Latin, an edition called the Vulgate, because he used the common (or "vulgar") Latin language.
He doesn't. He loves it actually, because he doesn't want the Word of God to be understood in their own language as in the book of Acts.

Dr Taylor I did not go to Mass for four years due to Novus Ordo. I left Novus Ordo and there was no Traditional Mass that I knew of but after four the years the Lord was good to me and a Protestant friend told me about a Traditional Latin Mass being said in our city. Now Praise the Lord I am in a Traditional Latin Mass and we have a Traditional Bishop. The Lord has given our Parrish many many blessings.
