This one is a decent improvement over the last one. Damien is a bit more tolerable, and I forgot how horny this film was 😆. Edit: some small nitpicks, one is I don't like bumblebee's design in the flashback I think she has looked better elsewhere 🤔. Speaking of which the flashback seems pointless and is only there to established how Starfire and Robin met 🤨. When I first saw this film I thought when Nightwing was on his own to try and save the team that he was gonna call up bumblebee, kid flash, and Speedy to come help. That would have been cool and made that flashback seem more necessary 🤔.
This is how Terra originally was in the comic. With the creepy stuff too. An more irredeemable traitor. Written as a response to how every hero team just accepted a new kid member and trusted them at that time. The Teen Titans cartoon made her MUUUCH more sympathetic and tragic!
I think the comic sort of has to be viewed in light of when it was written, in the 1980s, the tail end of the Bronze Age leading into the modern one. My understanding is that stuff like Terra and Slade’s implied (in the most blatant way possible while still leaving it implied) relationship and Terra having no redemption at all in the end had more shock value for many fans at the time. I feel part of the issue is also that Marv Wolfman loved Slade as a character and wanted this anti-villain that did bad, even skeevy things but still a level of 3 dimensionality. Like in the comics he took the contract for the HIVE after his son died in order to fulfill the job his son died doing, based on a promise he had made him. For Wolfman, Slade’s jobs he took weren’t personal, but operated on a mercenary honor system that led him down a path which caused him to do terrible things, like a solider dropped in a foreign war. The problem is that it’s hard to have the nuanced view of his character Wolfman wanted along with him grooming Terra like he did, even if they never went all the way as was later retconned and if it really was all about the job he felt he “had” to do. It’s a step beyond many people’s ability to see a character as a “shades of gray” type and I can’t say I blame them. Note: It may be that Wolfman wrote Terra as manipulating and seducing Slade actually, I don’t recall. Which would be…well a whole other discussion.
I think if we had a middle ground we would hit gold. When I saw the show and what they did with her, I always felt that I had missed an episode because her redemption felt completely out of nowhere given the prior episode. I think if we had one more episode in between showing us her backstory and what training with Slade was like and how he manipulated her, it would have been perfect
@@arlibrarian I do wish we could get that more interesting and nuanced version of Slade Wilson, his whole family trouble dynamic and the way he seems to project that on to other relationships like Dick and Starfire, and Green Arrow and Black Canary. Loved this movie when it came out! Just a few things for context: - No, that wasn't Wally. That was actually a younger Barry Allen as Kid Flash for some reason 😭 No idea why they went that route or who made such a bad decision but we move - Yes, in the comics Slade is a pedophile and a groomer and sleeps with a 15 year old Terra multiple times. I don't know if they just trimmed it out for this due to it being PG-13 or if they were trying to retcon it to be her wanting it instead but either way it happened. - Little bit of a cameo/easter egg for DC fans; the girl that Jaime volunteers with is called Traci and has a 13 on her shirt. This could be a reference to a character called Traci 13 who appears in the comics and some other animated stuff (i believe?) or it may actually just be her! - The blond character in purple who gets shot by Mother Mayhem is Jericho, Slade's son. You should remember him from the Teen Titans cartoon? He was in the final season and has the power to control people by making eye contact among a few other powers. I'm surprised you don't remember him. If you ever see a guy with curly blond hair, green eyes and wears some variation of a white shirt and a purple waistcoat(?), it's Jericho. - Kory's whole story isn't "she's hot", i really believe that misconception is due to majority male writers and male creators. She has an incredible story and fantastic arcs in the comics; i don't think you should base an entire character's story on just what you've seen in animation while ignoring her source material. - Brother Blood is an interesting character but i think WB just don't know how to adapt him correctly or they just think his character is boring? Basically the first Brother Blood was a priest who was born 100s of years ago and gained his powers by killing another priest to steal what he believed was Jesus' shawl. Then i think the priest cursed him before he died so that he would be killed by his son before his 100th bday and this curse basically carried on throughout the generations which is why Blood mentions "9 centuries". Mother Mayhem was also the original Blood's wife and they had a daughter together which essentially ended the curse. It's very complicated lol
In terms of how well adapted Blood was in every piece of media i think the ranking would go 1. Titans 2. Arrow 3. Judas Contract 4. Teen Titans and even then all of these adaptations were kinda bad imo but I'm not a Brother Blood fan so 😭
@@donttouchmeimsterile2351I think the director tweeted it, I didn’t know about the Barry thing till I read your comment, and what a weird decision. Has Barry EVER been dicks age in the comics?
It probably doesn’t help that in “Tim Drake’s” most prominent appearance outside of the comics (The New Batman Adventures) he’s pretty blatantly just Jason Todd with a different name with no real similarities to Tim otherwise. Which as a Jason Todd fan is equally annoying to me because it’s arguably the best representation we have of his time as Robin but being accredited to a different character.
Also the one thing i disliked about the DCAU and how they adapted the Titans was that they insisted on aging Raven down to be at least 5 years younger than Kory, Dick & Vic when she was ALWAYS the same age as them. It really irritates me that they keep pushing for this age change in other media and its working. I hope the new live action movie they're making doesn't do the same because its really time to go back to her original age honestly.
It's because the N52 did the same thing with Raven and Beast Boy, separating them from Nightwing, Starfire, and Cyborg. Cyborg joined the Justice League, Starfire was on the Outlaws with Red Hood and Arsenal, and Nightwing was doing his own thing for a while until he joined up with the Titans (the OG Titans, not the New Teen Titans)
@@Deception975 actually, *originally* Cyborg was a member of the New Teen Titans. The New 52 was a reboot in which he started out on the Justice League. But that universe has basically been reverted back to how it was before after Rebirth, Death Metal, and Dark Crisis.
Starfire does have a story. You have to read the comic. Thats the problem with these animated films based on comics. They dont start from the beginning and take short cuts to tell a story about an older Titans team and dont want to take the time to give what has occured between. Simple solution is to tell the story the way it was originally written. With the original TEEN TITANS lineup by Wolfman and Perez and leave out all the newbies. And by original New Teen Titans that means Robin(Dick), Kid Flash(Wally), Wonder Girl (Donna), Starfire, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Raven.
So beast boy is the same age or like at most 3 years younger than nightwing (I’m assuming since he’s in the OG roster) yet still looks like the same age as Damien Jamie and Terra?
@@CommanderSteelTrap that’s what I’m thinking but it was always so weird to have him in that flashback to me and then like when we see him now he looks exactly the same lol
All of the Robins become their own hero after they’re done being Robin except for Damian Wayne 1st Robin/Dick Grayson-Nightwing 2nd Robin/Jason Todd-Redhood 3rd Robin/Tim Drake-Red Robin 4th Robin/Stephanie Brown-Spoiler 5th Robin/Damian Wayne-Robin Then there’s a few in the different earths like Carrie Kelly-Robin Helena Wayne-Robin then becomes Huntress
We finally got the Judas Contract adaptation they'd been promising since Superman/Doomsday and JL: New Frontier, and it's set in the New 52 animated continuity so it had to be massively changed.
Nightwing and Kori were the highlights of this movie. JL vs TT didnt feature much of that so I was glad they doubled down on it here. My biggest memory of this movie tho is Nightwing fixing his shoulder by banging it against the wall. It's such a action hero thing to do lmao. Now apart from continuing the DCAMU I do wish you give the older movies a try. Justice League Crisis on Two Earths would be up your alley I think. It's a standalone movie and the animation is gorgeous. Even the music is memorable, something which is rare for these direct to video movies. It was made during a time where Warner Bros poured more budgets into their animated movies and it is very apparent in that one. The writing, characterisation and even wit is fitting for the JL characters. But most importantly it was an animated movie that actually felt like a movie movie you know. Many of the newer entries tend to feel like extended episodes of a tv show, which is exacerbated by the fact that they are all part of a larger extended universe, like the DCAMU or Tomorowverse for example. Anyways great reaction on this as always, it's a shame Rick isnt here tho.
@@theirishviking9278 It doesn't, because it would mean Barry was on a superhero team with Batman's protege, grow up and become The Flash, then be there for Justice League War having been a fan of but never meeting Batman before, while thinking Batman probably didn't even exist. So he was under Robin's command on the Teen Titans then as an adult was half sure Batman was just a myth.
It's interesting how this movie's story is fairly accurate (down to Terra) but they changed the roster of the Teen Titans to fit the universe. Blue Beetle is a stand-in for Cyborg and Damien is a stand-in for Dick.
One of the main things I hate about the DC-verse stuff is that...like Nightwing wouldn't have gone in there alone. He'd have called up every superhero he knew on speeddial, including the people who can move as fast as lightspeed, because an entire team of superheroes being captured by a supervillain is a major deal.
I can’t agree at all with the idea that Jason Todd is “just another Robin” even before he becomes Red Hood one of the most important aspects of his time as Robin is that he’s nothing like Dick. He’s the rebellious, angry son who knows what it’s like to live on the streets, struggle to survive and be a constant victim of crime. The complete opposite of Dick who Batman constantly fails to reach out to due to falling back on treating him like Dick, he’s Batman’s greatest failure as both a hero and a father.
I do like this movie, it's pretty comic accurate, or as accurate as it can be with that PG-13 rating, but to be completely honest, as inaccurate as it was, the original Teen Titans cartoon does have the superior adaptation of the Judas Contract story. I personally consider it to be superior to most of the DCAMU movies too, it was just amazing to watch you guys react to it too. The show lets the emotional moments hit way harder and I personally prefer the changes they made to terra's character as well as the relationship between slade and terra. The impact that Teen Titans show made on me is clear as day whenever I talk about deathstroke. my instinct is to call him "Slade" even though I'm very aware of his villain name. also brother blood is done so much better in the show too. Cyborg's arc with blood was one of the best and most underrated moments of the show.
So what people who only know this story from the animated series might not be familiar with is that, in the comics, Terra is mentally ill and Slade is a groomer. It's a lot darker than what the animated show did.
Bro like..this is on par w/ some of Invincible’s writing as far as action, character chemistry and the traditional (animated movie) three-act-structure. The animation is superb and yet, simple. I really wish MARVEL would take some notes on how DC/WB handles their animated series and franchises. “Spider verse” is amazing. As well as spectacular & “What If”..but imagine some new avengers or young avengers series animated. With this level of attention. Also love the channel btw
The after credit scene character was Jericho - Slade's son in the comics; not sure how they're portraying him in this series though. In the comics, the Judas Contract was about Jericho betraying the team. It's one of the best DC stories out there - a great read.
I both like and dislike how these movies are such a continuity mess. Like Speedy for example, the character and voice actor is from Young Justice but makes no sense in this series of films, especially since this was in a flashback. But I like it regardless. I can't wait until they do the later stuff with Constantine... he's great. 😅
Deathstroke is no joke even Batman shouldn’t be able to tango with him he is freaking superhuman with crazy reflexes I’m talking crazy reflexes and much more abilities but Batman got crazy plot armor
The problem with comic characters with swords (At least superheros.) they never use them for what they are designed for. Stabbing, slashing, beheading and delimbing or generally killing folk. They just carry them and brandish them around and end up just sokkin em or something. Why bring them? Take Nightcrawler, one of my favorite X-MEN. Hated it when they gave him those stupid swords. Usless since he's a devout Christian that will not kill and try to do as little harm as he can. His agility is a weapon but with two hands filled he almost halves his effectiveness since he can't use his hands because his hands are filled with weapons he wont use. Swords are just like firearms when it comes to a fight, unless your prepared to use them they are usless.
this movie has so many things that I like but also makes me so uncomfortable so I just rewatch some scenes, I'm glad to be rewatching it with you guys because I genuinely coudn't on my own. I'm so excited for the rest of the movies, if I remember correctly you got a lot of bangers coming!!

In terms of how well adapted Blood was in every piece of media i think the ranking would go
1. Titans
2. Arrow
3. Judas Contract
4. Teen Titans
and even then all of these adaptations were kinda bad imo but I'm not a Brother Blood fan so 😭
The Wally thing is such a useless information. There's no point on that tweet, and everyone just chooses to ignore it.
@@ponquin I'm confused. Who was talking about Twitter??
@@donttouchmeimsterile2351I think the director tweeted it, I didn’t know about the Barry thing till I read your comment, and what a weird decision. Has Barry EVER been dicks age in the comics?
I think they were referring to how Star was potrayed in this movie, not in general.
Tim Drake is easily my favourite Robin, he just hasn't been given kuch on the animated side fir everyone else to see it
But he's not in this movie
@@ПалёныйКабачков I never said he was
It probably doesn’t help that in “Tim Drake’s” most prominent appearance outside of the comics (The New Batman Adventures) he’s pretty blatantly just Jason Todd with a different name with no real similarities to Tim otherwise.
Same with Beastboy
It's because the N52 did the same thing with Raven and Beast Boy, separating them from Nightwing, Starfire, and Cyborg. Cyborg joined the Justice League, Starfire was on the Outlaws with Red Hood and Arsenal, and Nightwing was doing his own thing for a while until he joined up with the Titans (the OG Titans, not the New Teen Titans)
If you really want things how they originally were. Cyborg wouldn't even be a Teen Titan. He started as a Justice League member.
@@Deception975 actually, *originally* Cyborg was a member of the New Teen Titans. The New 52 was a reboot in which he started out on the Justice League. But that universe has basically been reverted back to how it was before after Rebirth, Death Metal, and Dark Crisis.
@@Deception975Cyborg’s first appearance is literally in the New Teen Titans 💀
He was probably the youngest OG member and just didn’t hit a growth spurt like the others.
@@CommanderSteelTrap that’s what I’m thinking but it was always so weird to have him in that flashback to me and then like when we see him now he looks exactly the same lol
@@Spartzns Beastboy went from like 13 to 18. He really doesn't look the same. Nightwing is probably 21.
Comics version of Deathstroke in the original continuity was a pedophile, and that scene got a lot grosser.
Less pedo and more manipulator but yeah both equally as horrible and disturbing
Oh shit you said comics yeah he a big time pedo there
Yeaaaaaah, I was about to say that. That was. . .a fucked fact I even recently knew from a close friend
All of the Robins become their own hero after they’re done being Robin except for Damian Wayne
1st Robin/Dick Grayson-Nightwing
2nd Robin/Jason Todd-Redhood
3rd Robin/Tim Drake-Red Robin
4th Robin/Stephanie Brown-Spoiler
5th Robin/Damian Wayne-Robin
Then there’s a few in the different earths like
Carrie Kelly-Robin
Helena Wayne-Robin then becomes Huntress
Overall pretty good. It found ways to reference the original Judas Contract while still being its own take on that story. I really wanted to see
24:33 Hitchcock and scully agree with Eric 😭
We finally got the Judas Contract adaptation they'd been promising since Superman/Doomsday and JL: New Frontier, and it's set in the New 52 animated continuity so it had to be massively changed.
I literally JUST rewatched there other DC animated movie reactions, perfect timing!
Anyways great reaction on this as always, it's a shame Rick isnt here tho.
so glad they're continuing these animated movies, hope to see apokalips war soon.
David Zayas as the voice of Jaime’s dad , Detective Angel Batista from Dexter, nice
34:30 Hulk reference 🤣🙌🙌👏👏
"Kid Flash" is actually that, He is literally Barry Allen as a kid
They really are taking their time with these DCAU movies aren't they.
That guy looks like Jericho.
It is him
Terra has a different design when you saw it at the end of Teen Titans vs Justice League
DCAMU really hates Nightwing’s shoulders.
DC animated stuff is so good.
The blond dude could be slades Son. kinda has the same outfit as him from the old Teen Titans show
According to producer James Tucker, the Kid Flash in the movie is actually a young Barry Allen, not Wally West.
That sucks and I'm going to ignore it
I recognize the council has come to a decision, but given that it's a stupid ass decision I've elected to ignore it.
i don't think that even fits into the DCAMU timeline
@@theirishviking9278 It doesn't, because it would mean Barry was on a superhero team with Batman's protege, grow up and become The Flash, then be there for Justice League War having been a fan of but never meeting Batman before, while thinking Batman probably didn't even exist.
So he was under Robin's command on the Teen Titans then as an adult was half sure Batman was just a myth.
@@billbill6094 on top of that when flash meets batman in jl war he didnt even know he was real
Guys them to watch JL: Crisis on Two Earths, it's such a great DCAU movie!
Oh wow.
They do Blue Beetle and his family better in this than a full live action film.
Yaaa lets keep the DCAMU grind going 🙌🙌
I can’t agree at all with the idea that Jason Todd is “just another Robin” even before he becomes Red Hood one of the most important aspects of his time as Robin is that he’s nothing like Dick.
He’s the rebellious, angry son who knows what it’s like to live on the streets, struggle to survive and be a constant victim of crime. The complete opposite of Dick who Batman constantly fails to reach out to due to falling back on treating him like Dick, he’s Batman’s greatest failure as both a hero and a father.
Love that they just dont care and she now a part of the team like
welcome to the were used by slade club :^)
Long time you guys thanks for contacting dcau please finish the all movies
Not gonna lie... the way this whole branch of the DC Animated Universe develops (And specially how it ENDS) kinda traumatized me.
Like I keep saying we need more of these movies being reacted.
After so many years waiting, finally❤
Ayy, back with the DCAMU again.
So what people who only know this story from the animated series might not be familiar with is that, in the comics, Terra is mentally ill and Slade is a groomer. It's a lot darker than what the animated show did.
Someone help me, this is the worst food poisoning I have ever had, I’m probably gunna have to get a new toilet after this
I just watched this movie last night for the first time, just in time :) can’t wait for the rest of the DCAMU
You guys gotta watch the JL animated show! It's soooo good!
hey , great time for a reminder that dune 2 is available on digital platforms :]
Dune was on a poll and this won
Bro like..this is on par w/ some of Invincible’s writing as far as action, character chemistry and the traditional (animated movie) three-act-structure. The animation is superb and yet, simple. I really wish MARVEL would take some notes on how DC/WB handles their animated series and franchises. “Spider verse” is amazing. As well as spectacular & “What If”..but imagine some new avengers or young avengers series animated. With this level of attention. Also love the channel btw
I want to let everyone know one thing. This is not the DCAU, this is the DCAMU. The DCAU is the BTAS universe not this universe
The after credit scene character was Jericho - Slade's son in the comics; not sure how they're portraying him in this series though. In the comics, the Judas Contract was about Jericho betraying the team. It's one of the best DC stories out there - a great read.
Blonde guy at the end is a prelude to the Constantine movie?
ooh nice, DCAMU progress!
Even in the series you reacted to Slade is weird he just wants Robin & Terra as his apprentices to control em 😂
Totally forgot y'all were reacting to these movies apparently the last movie y'all watched was almost a year ago.
Christina Ricci voices Terra in this.
Its great you guys are reacting to these!!! 🙌👏
I both like and dislike how these movies are such a continuity mess.
Like Speedy for example, the character and voice actor is from Young Justice but makes no sense in this series of films, especially since this was in a flashback.
But I like it regardless. I can't wait until they do the later stuff with Constantine... he's great. 😅
You know dc did something weird when sex goddess new 52 Starfire is not the most perverse part of a story.😂
Last you watched was justice League Dark
WE'RE BACK
Deathstroke is no joke even Batman shouldn’t be able to tango with him he is freaking superhuman with crazy reflexes I’m talking crazy reflexes and much more abilities but Batman got crazy plot armor
Letsss goo finally! Keep voting people
speedy and wally arr the same voice actors from young justice
Is this video unlisted or something? I can’t find it on the channel, and if it’s like an early access thing why can I watch it?
this movie has so many things that I like but also makes me so uncomfortable so I just rewatch some scenes, I'm glad to be rewatching it with you guys because I genuinely coudn't on my own.
I'm so excited for the rest of the movies, if I remember correctly you got a lot of bangers coming!!
Wow its here
Yess. Hope they finish these
Do more DC animated movies 💡👍
also man i hope they introduce mar'i grayson at somepoint
Unlikely. She was never in main canon and DC has stuck to Dick being with Barbara for quite a while now. No signs of him getting back with Kori.
@@CommanderSteelTrap i see no reason they cant add her in a movie and the live action seem that dick and kory have a daughter
22:49 🤣😌✨️💚
Took y'all long enough 😭
Ohh, Beast Boy...
Star was super hot in this iteration
Toph vs terra vs who wins?
I am so confused on the timeline for Beast Boy, he should've been like idk 5 years old on the first battle when they met Starfire???
Y’all NOT READY for Suicide Squad Hell to Pay.😂
