Luddite moment. What exactly is so appealing about the basic, low rent gauges in this car. Digital, like on the i30 sedan is customisable, have them look analogue or digital and customise every aspect of them.
@@buncha5651 who? Car companies know how to make money and the fact a digital dash is enough to drive people to get a cost option shows there’s demand for it. There’s a reason why there’s only gauges on older low end models, like this Cerato and the cheap Tucson or Sportage variants. The expensive ones have a beautiful sweeping digital dash. It’s completely customisable - they can look analogue if you’re a Luddite and scared by things like these, but the rest of us can adjust the colour, design and menu options to our preference.
I owned one of the first 2019 Cerato GT sedans in the country and, ironically, am about to sell it tomorrow. It's been a fantastic car but has some quirks. Paul's review is just about spot on. It's not a car that will satisfy everyone, so you need to know what you want before purchasing one. It's VERY firm, and on the day to day run, it CAN become a little jarring. As a 'family car', there are better options plain and simple. However, if you want a car that you can have fun with, this is a brilliant package. It's seriously quick when you get up and going and the handling is GREAT. The space on offer is actually pretty good too (sedan). The ride noise could be better. Not a deal breaker for me, but it's noticeable if you're more familiar with a quieter cabin. The other downside is definitely the DCT - at low speeds, particularly when you first get going, it's annoying/grabby. This and the firm handling are really the only two negatives, but again, not deal breakers. If Kia can at least improve the DCT, the car will be better for it. It's pretty efficient (averaging around 6.5), fun, handles well and has good tech and safety equip. I'll miss it when I sell it, but I need a bigger sedan for a growing family.
I've owned my pre-facelift GT hatch since 2019 and it's great - if you can deal with the ride. Fuel economy on the highway is around 5.5l/100km, nothing has broken or fallen off, no rattles or creaks, probably the easiest FWD car to drive in the wet that I've ever driven. Having driven manuals all my life I don't mind the DCT as I simply treat it as a manual with a computer-controlled clutch and not as a traditional automatic. It's an absolute riot on twisty roads, but as Paul said you pay for it with the ride - which to be fair it does soften noticeably after the first 5,000km (the car on test here looks to have less than 2,000km) - but even at 35,000km it's still very much on the firm side of the equation.
Funny you mention the driving in the wet bit, i noticed that too. It honestly has so much stability and grip in the wet, and if you push too hard it communicates what it's doing well and doesn't overreact with stability control so you can easily predict what the car is going to do.
I own the kia cerato GT (2023 model) a couple of pointers for those wanting to buy the car: this car handles insanely especially considering the rivals, sure the ride is a little on the firm side but thats for todays standard, i had a 2016 polo gti (1.6L turbo) and in my honest opinion that was way more stiffer this isn't uncomfortable its honestly fine wouldn't mind it being a little softer but then again its a sport hatch if you want a softer ride go for the sport+ but honestly this is a perfect daily and i guarantee this will be perfect for like 90% of people considering it. Taking materials into consideration is kind of invalid as this has a lot packaged in a relatively "cheap" price considering what its suppose to be, but even then the touch points feel good obviously there will be scratchy material near the bottom but i wouldn't say a corolla is much more 'luxury' then this (i have been in a zr corolla before 2022 model), this doesn't have any of the new kia and hyundai annoying active features which beep and bong at you which is really good and i would also recommend anyone getting this car to add floor matts as the actual carpeting feels thin (cost cutting in order to give you more in other areas) and lastly i would recommend to learn about breaking into a car engine (owners manual online for cerato should talk about it) the dealership told me new cars dont really require them but id rather be safe then sorry. some things i would want is 360 camera , heated steering wheel, digital cluster and wireless apple carplay. But seeing current kia cluster only the middle is customisable mainly so im not missing out much, 360 camera is great but by no means is the car huge so its not a big deal and the sensors and visibility is great so it doesn't bother me, and heated steering wheel is just me asking for more 😂 but having a wireless charger but no wireless apple carplay bugs me a lot but hey better then nothing. all around i personally think this car is just the best value in its segment its a perfect car and you wont be disappointed in getting this, if you have any questions about the car ill be happy to answer them the best i can! 😄
@@JASHVEER22 im not too sure in parts availability but knowing that this car has been out in the market for a decent amount of time i would assume the availability of parts should be fine but again im not too sure, however fuel economy is great depending on your driving style, i drove the cerato from canberra to gold coast and averaged around 5.6L/km - 5.8L/km on smart mode and around town i would get around 7.5L/km with normal mode, however due to the exhaust sounding very nice i drive it a little more aggressive then usual still keeping it in normal mode and i average around 9-10 L/km with aggressive-ish driving. im currently thinking of selling this car in the next maybe 1-2 years as im saving up money to get the bigger brother, the i30N sedan facelift, the only reason im selling it is because im very into cars and i always loved the i30n but if that car didn't exist i would definitely keep this car for at least 5 years, i would consider selling maybe after 6-7 years as thats when the warranty expires and thats also when the service cost is going to be on the expensive side, however this car is beautiful and genuinely its a solid all around performer perfect daily yet sporty car .
@@JASHVEER22 Hi Jashveer22 just to let you know I bought one last year and last week it stopped and refused to start, it’s been at the Kia dealer for now 7 days and they haven’t got it in the workshop yet, I’ve loved the car but now I’m totally annoyed that it should prove to be unreliable and the dealers haven’t got enough technicians to work on the cars. I live in Hills area of Sydney.
Hello to my fellow Cerato GT owners. Just purchased the sedan in steel grey. I'm in Perth and paid $38,500 and I had them throw in GT mats, slimline weather shields + full tank of fuel. I probably could have pushed a little harder given that the salesperson didn't need to consult the dealer principal for approval but I'm happy nonetheless. I waited 2.5 weeks from signing contract to delivery. Lucky indeed. I also had the Kia dealership do all of the aftercare (paint protection, interior protection and window tinting). I paid $1650 for that complete package. They started at $2500. Just be firm but fair. I called my preferred dealership on the morning that I was prepared to do the deal and told them I'd be in front of them within an hr if they accepted my terms. Was told to get my backside into the dealership ASAP and they would do the deal. FYI, I test drove the GT at another Kia dealership but didn't like the attitude of the salesperson and felt as though they didn't truly want to sell me a car. I hope this helps anyone else that's in the market for the GT to negotiate themselves a decent deal. Don't fall for the sob stories. Tell them straight what you're willing to pay and what you'd like included on the basis that you're ready to sign the new car contract immediately. Good luck and safe/fun driving.
I own my22 Cerato GT which is exactly the same car in looks and spec. 100% recommend, great value and 7yr warranty by KIA. Road noise is not that bad and super frugal on eco mode, switch to sport and it sounds and becomes a weapon
Have one on order which will take months. The majority of my driving will be on country highways. Is the firm ride likely to be a huge downside or is it liveable?
I am getting the same model as yours as I was told by my local Kia it's at least a 12 month wait for the MY23. I pick it up in about a week. I haggled them down to a really good price as well I am glad you have said the road noise is not too bad.
@@ding020468 sorry for my late reply. Yes it's very livable. I am running Pilot Sport 5 tyres at with 38psi front and 36 rear. Not going to lie, but it's sporty feel, however the seats are comfortable
excellent daily driver, and great fun. suspension is a little hard, but i’ve gotten used to it. awesome handing, packed with features and epic little 1.6L Turbo. those who are considering this or already have it, i highly recommend a removable RACECHIP RS, adds 31kw and 97nm of torque,, completely changed the driving dynamic, and it’s removable so you can still get your car serviced at dealer! i never understood digital dials,,, people still end up putting a speedo and tacho on the screen, leaving a small middle portion anyway so there’s not much real real word usage of a digital driver display,,
@@robmills2155 Transmission and everything has been fine! I don’t typically drive it very full out, only occasionally so mileage may vary. No plug upgrade yet but might look into it
After changing from Pilot Sport 4 to Primacy 4 the car has less road noise and is more comfortable over sharp bumps. Only down side is steering is not quite as direct on corners, but for me a good compromise.
So pleased to see you review this car Paul , we have a 2019 hatch so very similar. The stiff ride is probably down to the tyre pressures being on the high side. Drop a few psi and it improves. We also have a Proceed GT too which drives much the same but with the joy of being a six speed manual. Also the Proceeds build quality is a step up over the Cerato with it’s European origin.
Yeah I have a 2020 one, the tyre pressures from the dealer were like 4-5 psi higher than the placard, I don't know why. Also suspension really settles down over the first 1500km or so.
That’s what gets to me, it was a far better value when this generation launched in 2018 even though this is basically the same car. And even after the facelift, the price has risen even further.
I've been really enjoying my KDM K3 GT for a year now. It is by far the most bang for the buck car I've owned over the years. The KDM also comes with fully digital instrument gauge, looks like they skipped on it for the overseas.
I'm not a sedan guy, but I bought the MY22 GT over the Mazda 3 Astina back in '21. It was just simply a more fun car to drive, it had more power, had ventilated seats, had a wireless charger, had a touchscreen instead of the ridiculous rotary dial, AND was the cheaper option by about 6 k AUD Granted, the Kia didn't have the 360 cameras, or the beautiful interior, which the Mazda had. But I absolutely enjoyed every minute of driving the Kia over the past year and a half. It was incredible value for money and 15/10 would recommend. Oh, and this was only my personal experience, but at least the Kia salesman didn't try to belittle me into buying their car.
My husband got a Cerato 2017 - I loved the Platinum Graphite color. It looks so good and great performance even now. Couple of days ago, we ran out of fuel and it still drove us - no idea how... But very very efficient even when driving it 180. The overall satisfaction over the years made me order the Cerato Sport 2023 which will arrive in April 2023. So much looking forward and thank you so much for this video. I really wanted to see how the Lane centering works with cruise control. It would be nice if I could see a glimpse of how well the blind spot detection work inside the car... But that's alright... Very nice video!
One major thing everyone here forgets to recognise - INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION (IRS). This Cerato GT and I30 N Line still come with the IRS, whereas pretty looking Mazda 3 downgraded it to torsion beam rear suspension. Did Mazda drop the price accordingly? Nope of course not, in fact they upped the price. That is what you should look at folks, not the pretty exterior design or nice colour.
It’s not so much what config it has that matters as it is how it actually drives. I drove both the Cerato GT and the Mazda 3, and simply put, I could live with the firm ride on the 3 but not the Cerato, which was incredibly crashy. So yes, I would prefer to have IRS on the 3, but overall it is still a better suspension setup for me.
Bingo 🎉 🎊👍 Seen a young girl spin out in the wet. She certainly wasn’t expecting it. Scary when the rear overtakes the front while turning! (Obviously Mazda 3)
7.4 without brake boosting it? really good. most other tests get around 6.3-6.7 when brake boost launching the car. 14.7 1/4 mile too. impressive hot "warm" hatch in performance
Yesss been looking forward to your review of this. My friend has one now and an exhaust upgrade direct from Kia with the Kia warranty as well. Such a great car and I think handles well and they are such nice cars. Good to finally see and hear your thoughts I love the design of the car. I think the horn sounds quite friendly but this car is great doesn’t even need 360 cameras since it’s small enough and an ease to park
In the UK and a lot of Europe, we don’t get the Cerato. We get the Ceed instead. However, in Türkiye and Russia, they sell the Ceed alongside the Cerato.
I've now got nearly 4000k on my MY23 Cerato GT and I'm loving it. Your review is great but I really liked the analogue instruments with the digital display between them. The Android car play so far is crap .... it keeps dropping out despite connecting to a Galaxy S23 Ultra with the latest download, but the phone still works great via Bluetooth. Love the driving position and the harder sporty ride and the exhaust note is great. Thought the seat cooling would be a fail but I'm loving it although in Queensland I doubt I'll get to try the seat heaters. The fuel economy is good and I'm glad I got the ceramic on the paintwork. Loving this car and the seat retracts when toy leave the car is really good. The only things I would have liked to see would be a 360 camera and rain sensors. I hired a Kia Ceed in the UK and the rain sensors were a great feature Oh and great review btw
Is yours a sedan or hatch? I ordered the sedan last week but will be waiting several months for it. Didnt even bother test driving beforehand so i relied exclusively on reviews like this on YT.
I Have got a steel grey GT sedan on order, the sedan version really is a baby stinger and is a really great performance car for the price. Great review!
Test drove one recently… what an engine, good value, but the ride was just far too much hard work for a day to day drive, and the steering a bit leaden. The ride's not just firm; it's genuinely crashy, and feels like it's got next to no travel. Disagree with you about the transmission; the DCT really suits the engine with its snap-snap changes. A conventional torque converter would blunt its power; it makes sense for an SUV like the Seltos, but not a performance car like the Cerato GT. We shelled out the extra for the G25 Astina. You lose the power, but gain a vastly better interior and a ride you can live with.
I literally got out of a BN SP25 GT because of the crap quality of it. Paint problems, multiple parts of the interior replaced including the steering wheel, drivers seat and gear shifter, constant problems with the infotainment system, etc. My GT hasn't put a foot wrong in almost 4 years (though i'll happily admit the ride is too firm at times)
@@antonybaddeley4085 good move there mate. I nearly bought a 2020 GT but it was the ride that put me off. Have now purchased a 2022 facelift as the ride is much more liveable. They changed the dampers for the facelift. Absolutely love this car 🤙
Kia are underated as a car. I owned a Sportage and it was extremely robust. The seats were uncomfortable and firm. The engine was a diesel that was was well engineered. Overall a good package with an exceptionally long warranty.
Recently put in an order for the sedan version which I think looks even better. This car honestly just looks SO good inside and out and sounds amazing for the price.
Thanks for your review, it was so thorough. I wanted to buy new but have been told they wont be available for 12 months. So I did some shopping around and have found a MY22 for a fantastic price with all the features shown here. I will be picking it up in about a week and I am very excited. I must say I am VERY impressed with the car. It has many features that a middle aged woman probably wont make fall use of but it will be nice to drive my short commute to work and home each day. I pushed the dealer and he came down on a few occasion with the price and I got an extremely good trade in deal for my 2009 Cerato which is a sedan, I must say I am looking forward to ditching the sedan and going back to a hatch. I love my Kia Cerato's and I am sure my new one will be fantastic to drive and enjoy that little bit more luxury.
As someone who walked into a Kia dealership with the full intention to buy one of these, I was extremely disappointed when my 195cm tall frame simply could not fit in the front seat. The mandatory sunroof is absolutely a negative on the new model year.
I take it you adjusted the seat 😳 Sorry but I just don’t get it. The seat goes really far back and can be lowered really low. There is also heaps of room around you. Were the seats too tight?
I really like the look of this car. Also I love the detail you go into on your reviews. As a tinnitus sufferer car road noise means a lot when I am looking at buying a car.
i have ordered one and very much looking forward to it, but there has been a couple of delay's it was supposed to arrive in April, then in May now I should get it in July
My Cerato has been great, modify with RaceChip, front mount cooler, intake and exhaust and u are making 200+kw. I have pulled away from upset GTI drivers, very surprised how well they respond to mods. The handling is really incredible for what they are yet a bit disappointing that ESC can never be fully disabbled. The gearbox can be lazy and quirky at partial throttle take offs yet at full throttle it's quick and predictable.
I'd love to purchase a RaceChip, I hear good things about it in these cars. The trans behavior isn't too bad, but dry clutches will always have their quirks compared to wet or TC Autos and CVT's.
@@stuartmckenzie6919 absolutely. Any tuning of the ecu will void your entire mechanical warranty. Electronics and interior would still be covered. While a race chip isn’t flashing the ecu even if you revert back to stock the dealerships know. You can see every perimeter the car was running before it broke these days so when you see things have been running outside of factory spec you know instantly it was modified software. Source; am a warranty manager for a very large automotive group.
Have owned a GT since June 2022; touching on 30k kms, now. I love it. The ride is firm indeed, but I actually don't mind it. It gives really good "feel" to what you are doing. Short and sharp bumps make your fillings jiggle a little, I have to confess. But I'm forgiving. The engine sound is great, especially in "Sport". The DCT is something you need to get used to; it could be more refined, but for a sub-$40k car, it's good enough. It's not an Audi or a Merc. The grip on the Michelins is insane. You'd nearly get over-confident, the car is absolutely glued to the road. The "faux-leather" seats wear fairly quickly, which is a downside. The wired Android Auto is prehistoric, really... I bought a wireless adapter for it that just sits in the car. Works fine. The JBL system is not the best in High Fidelity audio, but it makes enough noise to be happy about. The 2 Subs are pretty good! Servicing every 10k kms is a bummer, and the capped price is not capped very cheaply, either. "Oh well". All in all, for a car that cost me a touch under $40k (with everything I wanted -interior & exterior protection, front & rear Blackvue cameras and dark tinting), I am a very happy boy.
Got the previous 2019 model and it's great value for money and bang for buck. The ride does get annoying around town sometimes but throwing it into corners or going for a country drive makes you forget about the ride and remind you why you bought it in the first place. When I drive other cars now the suspension feels too soft and sloppy in comparison.
Same here! I was wanting one but was told to wait for 8 months and eventually got an i30 too! I wonder how much business Kia has lost due to this long waiting time issue
A couple of things to mention, the Infotainment can be updated and now supports the proper Android Auto experience. The rear seat legroom is significantly better in the Sedan than the hatch.
Hey Paul. As always great reviews. Would love to see you review the new VW Passat Alltrack 162 standard version. Your review will be highly appreciated.
Ive had mine for just over a year. Very fun to drive. I like the dual clutch. For the money nothing comes close to this car. The only thing it misses is no rain sensor
In Canada its called Forte5 and I own same white variant. Love it everyday. Cold starts are so loud and gives the feeling of having a sport car. Its a decent car and very much value for the money. Thanks for your honest review, I say honest because I did 13k Kms in 3 months and you didn't go wrong on anything 😀
Got the previous model 2019 cerato gt. It's got a bunch of upgrades in the engine and a tune. Easily take off 1.5sec to 100. Basically a hot hatch territory. Even with upgrades and a tune still well below the hot hatch price point. Kdm in Australia is becoming popular then ever. Not hard to see why.
Hey Paul and all at CE Love the quality video reviews but weirdly one aspect I love is the dB TEST ( its underrated, overlooked by many, much appreciated from this muppet ) Many a journalist will say car A is whisper quite or car B notoriously is loud well is it ? is that a per-conceived thought, hunch or factual ? Only the good folk at CE actually measure ( some say scientifically ) and provide the friggin goddam data ! heck me now wants a list of the quite achievers and booming bastards but hey im weird. compliment / rant complete keep up the kickass work team CE
The Koreans have really got their car design spot on now. This is a good looking car. Sadly I cannot wait 12 months for delivery and went to the no service Skoda again. Some of us just don't learn from our mistakes. And that is why KIA are not available and Skodas are available because buyers do know that after sales service is a joke.
Got mine, love it, best car I’ve ever owned. Great price it’s options, will upgrade exhaust and add chips, and possibly a body kit. But that is costly for something I will trade in in two years for a new one anyway.
Great review mate, on a car I will never get to drive or own, living in California where everything on the road is an SUV lumbering in at 4-5 tons. Hot hatches don't sell in the US. However I just put a deposit on the Kia Forte GT in sedan form, and can't wait to get my hands on it. If only it were a hatchback!
Was going to get an i30 but went with the Cerato instead, mainly for a bit more space and practicality. I have sat in both and driven both and compared both of them. With the Cerato, I think the S, Sport or Sport+ is better suited for everyday city driving than the GT.
Thanks for the, as usual, great review. I saw a sedan version of one of these down at the local shops lately and it caught my eye. Not bad looking. Seems to go well too, subject to the ride firmness. Thanks again.
Just bought a 2022 July build, ride is a bit firm, but I jumped out of my 2005 kia Optima. and I'm an olf fart so that may be the problem, but other than that, I LOVE MY NEW CERATO GT.
Is there a great deal of difference drive-wise between sedan and hatch? I have the sedan ordered but good reviews like this a fairly rare. Thanks for the upload. Greatly appreciated.
They drive the same mate. Sedan quieter inside. Do yourself a favour and disconnect the fake noise in sports mode. The factory exhaust sounds pretty cool to be honest and you’ll find yourself driving in sports mode a lot more as it’s not annoying/hard work 👍
@@Hutchy86 Paid for it this morning and hopefully pick it up either tomorrow or Thursday. Ive already had a sit inside but have not driven or even started it yet.

Our son has just ordered a GT sedan and we were both very impressed during the test drive. Like you say in this review, replacing the DCT transmission with a standard auto box would certainly not be a backward step.
@@thurules it’s pretty good although it can be a little hesitant when pulling away quickly but once on the move it’s pretty seamless. I can’t say that it’s any worse than the 8 speed auto in my Sportage but it’s not appreciably better either despite being more complex.
I bought one in May 2023 here in Sydney, got 7000km on it and loved the car until 21 Feb when it just stopped and wouldn’t start. It’s been sitting now at The Kia dealer for 8 days and it’s still not going….
I have had mine for a little over a year. 12000 km. In normal mode it is a perfectly good run about . On the open road with some bends in it put it in sport mode and the DCT and turbo performance makes in fun.. a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Then the suspension and grip all work great. It’s hard to keep it at legal speeds 😮😂
I take delivery ( Australia) of my GT Sedan tomorrow after ordering it at the end of February. I was originally quoted a 6 month wait so it appears i got lucky. Will let you all know how it goes 😁
This car has the best suspension by far compared to any mass market sedan (of any catagory). Its somehow doesn't roll at all and socks big bumps like butter. The 6 speed TC gearbox has ratios that are low + closeby allowing the rpm to rise very rapidly making the car much faster than what you would expect from a 1.6NA.
Checked these out along with the i30 N Line when I was looking for a cheap sporty hatch. Ended up going with the N Line but since they’re basically the same car I still have a tonne if appreciation for this car, there aren’t enough truly affordable hot hatches anymore
Great review as usual. I think your issue and everybody's issue with Android auto not taking the full screen etc should be resolved soon when you get the new update V8.8+ I think it was. Supposedly rolling out now. Its kicked in on my Pixel and is quite nice to use and can see it filling in the dead space with another app on wider screens.
We ended up getting the sport+ trim as it offers pretty much all the GT does bar the turbo engine. It has a NA engine with less torque but has a much softer ride, a proper automatic gearbox and 15k annual service interval so it was a much better choice for our needs. Great car to use daily and cheap to use and maintain. Could not be happier
The sunroof is not standard on the GT and at 200KPH it sits on the road great feels like I was only doing 100 DTD around town I found it perfectly fine I also drove a 700KM trip non stop and when I got out of the car I felt great infact I felt so good I wanted to drive the same trip again straight away as for gas you don't need to stick to the KIA recommended 95 you can use 91 and I get 500K's out of a tank around town but I do use 95 when driving out of town and will get nearly 600K's out of a tank IF I drive like a normy
Honestly, I like the analogue dials. Sick of these stupid screens infesting every vehicle. Great review.
Cos' touch screen controls are much cheaper to build em than physical buttons and dials..
100% Agree who wants a tablet screen . Much prefer proper instruments .

I really like that you’ve started adding 100-0 stopping times to your spreadsheet of vehicle data.
I own the kia cerato GT (2023 model)
a couple of pointers for those wanting to buy the car:
this car handles insanely especially considering the rivals, sure the ride is a little on the firm side but thats for todays standard, i had a 2016 polo gti (1.6L turbo) and in my honest opinion that was way more stiffer this isn't uncomfortable its honestly fine wouldn't mind it being a little softer but then again its a sport hatch if you want a softer ride go for the sport+ but honestly this is a perfect daily and i guarantee this will be perfect for like 90% of people considering it.
Taking materials into consideration is kind of invalid as this has a lot packaged in a relatively "cheap" price considering what its suppose to be, but even then the touch points feel good obviously there will be scratchy material near the bottom but i wouldn't say a corolla is much more 'luxury' then this (i have been in a zr corolla before 2022 model),
this doesn't have any of the new kia and hyundai annoying active features which beep and bong at you which is really good and i would also recommend anyone getting this car to add floor matts as the actual carpeting feels thin (cost cutting in order to give you more in other areas) and lastly i would recommend to learn about breaking into a car engine (owners manual online for cerato should talk about it) the dealership told me new cars dont really require them but id rather be safe then sorry.
some things i would want is 360 camera , heated steering wheel, digital cluster and wireless apple carplay.
I'm considering this car how would you rate availability of spare parts, fuel consumption and for how many years you expect to drive this car.
@@JASHVEER22 im not too sure in parts availability but knowing that this car has been out in the market for a decent amount of time i would assume the availability of parts should be fine but again im not too sure,
however fuel economy is great depending on your driving style, i drove the cerato from canberra to gold coast and averaged around 5.6L/km - 5.8L/km on smart mode and around town i would get around 7.5L/km with normal mode, however due to the exhaust sounding very nice i drive it a little more aggressive then usual still keeping it in normal mode and i average around 9-10 L/km with aggressive-ish driving.
im currently thinking of selling this car in the next maybe 1-2 years as im saving up money to get the bigger brother, the i30N sedan facelift, the only reason im selling it is because im very into cars and i always loved the i30n but if that car didn't exist i would definitely keep this car for at least 5 years, i would consider selling maybe after 6-7 years as thats when the warranty expires and thats also when the service cost is going to be on the expensive side, however this car is beautiful and genuinely its a solid all around performer perfect daily yet sporty car .

I haggled them down to a really good price as well
I am glad you have said the road noise is not too bad.
@@ding020468 sorry for my late reply. Yes it's very livable. I am running Pilot Sport 5 tyres at with 38psi front and 36 rear. Not going to lie, but it's sporty feel, however the seats are comfortable
Try turning split screen off in the cars audio menu. This should then give you full screen Android auto.
excellent daily driver, and great fun. suspension is a little hard, but i’ve gotten used to it. awesome handing, packed with features and epic little 1.6L Turbo. those who are considering this or already have it, i highly recommend a removable RACECHIP RS, adds 31kw and 97nm of torque,, completely changed the driving dynamic, and it’s removable so you can still get your car serviced at dealer!
i never understood digital dials,,, people still end up putting a speedo and tacho on the screen, leaving a small middle portion anyway so there’s not much real real word usage of a digital driver display,,
is this the hatch or sedan?
@@SonyCamry hatch
Hey mate..a year on..was the racechip practical and did it put stress on the trans?
Also..did you upgrade the plugs ?
Cheers
@@robmills2155 Transmission and everything has been fine! I don’t typically drive it very full out, only occasionally so mileage may vary. No plug upgrade yet but might look into it
After changing from Pilot Sport 4 to Primacy 4 the car has less road noise and is more comfortable over sharp bumps. Only down side is steering is not quite as direct on corners, but for me a good compromise.
This review of a car is what I want, no BS long side review what so ever. simple straight to the point.
I’ve been waiting a looong time for this. Not the bargain it used to be but still great value IMO.
That’s what gets to me, it was a far better value when this generation launched in 2018 even though this is basically the same car. And even after the facelift, the price has risen even further.
31,990 was absolutely bonkers value
I've been really enjoying my KDM K3 GT for a year now. It is by far the most bang for the buck car I've owned over the years. The KDM also comes with fully digital instrument gauge, looks like they skipped on it for the overseas.
This is a fab car, exciting to drive and extremely practical. It's a really great daily with built-in fun factor, thanks for the review 🙂
I'm not a sedan guy, but I bought the MY22 GT over the Mazda 3 Astina back in '21. It was just simply a more fun car to drive, it had more power, had ventilated seats, had a wireless charger, had a touchscreen instead of the ridiculous rotary dial, AND was the cheaper option by about 6 k AUD
Granted, the Kia didn't have the 360 cameras, or the beautiful interior, which the Mazda had.
Bingo 🎉 🎊👍
Seen a young girl spin out in the wet.
Haven't finished watching... But the 'start off with the key' gag put a huge smile on my dial. Tks 🙂
I hired a Kia Ceed in the UK and the rain sensors were a great feature
Oh and great review btw
Love my MY20 CGT, $7k on fuel over the last 3 years. Great car, it’s not really stiff
I have a 2023 GT and it's amazing. 18 inch wheels, sunroof, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel and good audio. Looks are great too.
How long was your wait? My brother here in Victoria has been waiting over 5 months, almost 6!😡
Is yours a sedan or hatch? I ordered the sedan last week but will be waiting several months for it. Didnt even bother test driving beforehand so i relied exclusively on reviews like this on YT.
@@andrewd7586 ordered in march of 2022 and got it in October.
@@ding020468 mine is a sedan. I could only test drive a ex model because they didn't have a GT to test drive. And the wait was long but worth it.
@@andrewd7586 here in Tassie I have to wait till august 🤷♀️ maybe later.. I ordered mine a few weeks ago
At what price though, they are quite expensive compared to the GT
@@nithianathan7962 yeah, the Cerato GT is more directly comparable to the Mazda 3 G25 GT which is roughly a grand or two more with safety pack IIRC
Should have tried the I30N-Line. The suspension is a little more forgiving and essentially the same car.
Kia are underated as a car. I owned a Sportage and it was extremely robust. The seats were uncomfortable and firm. The engine was a diesel that was was well engineered. Overall a good package with an exceptionally long warranty.
Absolutely love this car !! Owned 2 of these already now driving a 24 GT Limited which is an amazing car for money and surprises people!!
Recently put in an order for the sedan version which I think looks even better. This car honestly just looks SO good inside and out and sounds amazing for the price.
How long is the wait? Looking at ordering a Sedan too.
I take it you adjusted the seat 😳
Sorry but I just don’t get it. The seat goes really far back and can be lowered really low. There is also heaps of room around you.
Were the seats too tight?
Hi Paul;
What auto and comfortable hatchback do you suggest?
I really like the look of this car. Also I love the detail you go into on your reviews. As a tinnitus sufferer car road noise means a lot when I am looking at buying a car.

Best review I have seen great stuff.
@@joytech23 there are now software solutions to improve the shifts and reduce clutch slip
Does this impact warranty with Kia?
Thats what i was hoping to read. Thanks :)
all the love to you mate.
keep up the good work .
you deserve more view and subs for sure.
I wanted to buy the Kia Cerato as better warranty and front parking sensors but none available at the time so had to buy the i30
Same here! I was wanting one but was told to wait for 8 months and eventually got an i30 too! I wonder how much business Kia has lost due to this long waiting time issue
I have a 2022 model. My fuel economy over 20000 km is 7.9/100. I drive fairly conservatively but occasionally I give it the sauce and it responds!

The Koreans have really got their car design spot on now. This is a good looking car. Sadly I cannot wait 12 months for delivery and went to the no service Skoda again.
I had the 2017 PD series i30 SR auto which had same engine and transmission. Fantastic car for the money, I only sold it to buy a 4WD.
What’s the difference compared to the pre facelift model 2019-2021?
when you put the back seats flat, how long is the space in the back? is it long enough to lie down if you need to sleep in the car?
Throttle controller - Ebiach springs and you have a sensational car for the money. Digital dash would be nice, but the dials are easy to live with.
Was going to get an i30 but went with the Cerato instead, mainly for a bit more space and practicality. I have sat in both and driven both and compared both of them. With the Cerato, I think the S, Sport or Sport+ is better suited for everyday city driving than the GT.

Especially since it's not a 1.6NA.
