We just test drove the Mitsubishi Outlander, Sportage and Seltos. I enjoyed the softness of the Outlander, comfortable seats and the quiet cabin and for a family the Outlander is hard to pass up. We thought the Sportage seats were not overly comfortable, they were quite hard and in general the $59k top of the range didn't do anything new for us apart from the lovely screens. Then we sat in the Seltos and we were very impressed. For $10k less than the Sportage it felt solid, comfortable and easy to drive plus it got to higher speeds faster (due to weight I guess). As this car is for my wife and I primarily with kids now moving out of home we can stop looking for a fully packed family car and the Seltos is now our front runner. I just got the 2023 seltos gt awd, the road noise isn't that bad. If you're use to luxury SUV's that fully dampens then you might be, but really it's pretty good. I got steel grey and it looks great. Best of all it takes 91 octane petrol so you get to spend less on fuel.

I have the Cerato GT and yes the DCT is a little clunky (once its up and going its smooth as silk) but they do have better acceleration than a torque converter auto. Would have rather seen them use the wet DCT in the seltos would have given better 0-100 and fuel economy.
I have a mid-late 22 Cerato GT and I have heard a lot of complaints about the DCT, but in my own car I honestly can't say I have experienced this? It is actually the smoothest transmission I have had in a car, and I have had many. You can't feel when it shifts gears, and taking off from a stop is as smooth as it can possibly get. Under what circumstances have you experienced the DCT being clunky? I think for me it might only be odd situations where I'm slowing down or speeding up and suddently want to brake/accelerate, maybe catching the trans the moment it's shifting both transmissions and that is very rare. Maybe once every 10 drives.
I am deciding pretty much between the Seltos and the new Kona. Test drove them both yesterday one after the other and they both feel like solid options to me. To me the Kona felt far more spacious (yet technically having less space) and refined inside, and nice and sporty to drive. The Seltos felt a bit cheaper inside but had more boot space and felt more like an SUV whereas the Kona felt more like a big hatchback. Tbh the drive was similar as they both had the same 1.6T 8sp TC drive train. Despite the polarising design, I think imma go with the Kona - feels more like a sporty hatchback instead of a family SUV, but still fulfils my needs re space and size.
i was super impressed with the peppy engine and the sportive tuning . 8 speed Torque converter does magic :) . 360 cam missing even on top of line range :( . Overall very happy that i choose Seltos GT line and enjoying it :)
Seltos is a great car with a couple of really annoying things The speed alert is set at 1kph over the posted limit which could be marginally classed as a safety thing However when travelling through a school zone at 10 pm the speed alert is a stupid thing to have The lack of being able to turn this feature off permanently is a rather large oversight, all it does is make the start process of the car 3 or so steps extra on every start up
I really hope Kia fix this with a software update to keep the beeping off by default. It's absolutely infuriating and not fair to expect the driver to have to navigate through the menu every time they turn on the car to turn off this feature. Mitsubishi got it right by still showing the speed limit on the dash, and simply having it flash if you are going faster, no annoying beeping at you.
Tried to order one in December but was told a minimum of a 4 month wait for the GT-Line. Have gone with a Subaru Forester instead - at least, I'll have more range off-road.
Well, that was one fo the better appraisals I have heard in many years. I had a sales career with For and then VW yonks ago but I sold for Ford in the UK, Ford of Australia (Fairlane 500), Taunus of Germany and Mustangs for the USA in one showroom with the first RS 1300/1600. I have had around 40 cars and am seriously looking at this or the Sportage. Man, you were honest and can carry your clique without batting an eye...Just how an appraisal should be, never mind if it hurts Kia a little as they will, I am sure take on board what you have to say, anytime.
Just received our 2023 seltos gt awd and so far it's great. The sound system isn't brilliant compared to the cerato gt but it does the job. I am not sure about the mood lighting, but gives it personality. If only it came with a pano sunroof, then it would be almost perfect. Oh and please please sort out the wired carplay, it's crazy having wireless charging and wired carplay connection. Get it resolved Kia!
I have a 2021 or 2022 two-tone yellow Seltos... I love her look. I've had no problems with her, and everyone I show her off to gets jealous. My only issues are the interior chrome, which blinds me when I drive during twilight. And the power boot button on my fob, when it's just hydraulically assisted...
MG is a Chinese company with British brand in disguise, Haval is from China…..I will think twice before buying anything from CCP’s China, which has been bullying and even threatening Australia!
@@Hansanaw Sad face is for my own selfish reasons. They have priced themselves beyond what I can afford. If I want a small/mid size SUV I’ll likely have to roll the dice on a Haval. When Kia/Hyundai were still relatively new and unproven yet in the Australian market, at least I knew that South Korea had high manufacturing standards. China though 🤷♂
I think Only Australia get new kia seltos without 360 cameras and digital gear selector which is disappointing. I ve seen these features in overseas models
The H6 GT looks cool, and probably has sharper pricing in relation to equipment levels but tbh Kia has established a name for itself and is a proven, reliable brand. The Haval has a question mark over its reliability as the brand hasn’t been around for that long around here for us to really compare the ownership experience. I’d personally spend a touch more on a comparably equipped Kia - as I know ownership will be a hassle free experience. Also when you want to sell the car down the line, the better resale basically cancels out any difference in initial price - it’s the safer bet.
Loved my 2021 Seltos SX Turbo so much, I just ordered the 2024 version which upgraded EVERYTHING I would have upgraded. Its an excellent looking truck and handles beautifully. My ONLY complaint with KIA is they short-change the Seltos buyer when they don't offer the gun metal gray color. Its petty nonsense and cheapens the brand!
@@henrytoussaint7 I assume the ratio is so tall because the overall reversing experience is easier when you can manage the power smoothly. A tall reverse ratio helps with that aspect of drivability.

We don’t get the Seltos here in Europe. We have two different subcompact SUVs, the Stonic which you get in Ozzyland, and the XCeed, which is just a jacked up Ceed.
I notice you didn't test the speed sign recognition as I've heard that this is really annoying and needs to be disabled every time you start the car by drilling down into the menus. That would be enough to stop me buying one. I did test drive the 2 litre version a couple of weeks back with the CVT and it surprised me how well it went. Was difficult to tell it wasn't an auto. Also the dealer told me these are approx 6mth wait if you order now.
It's crazy that the GTX line in India is better in than this in some aspects.. Interior wise there are few changes on cup holders and mainly we got full alloy wheels. The alloys shown in this are for HTX and HTX+ varient in India.
Hi Paul, great job as always mate. You are including more n more important info into your reviews. Could you also possibly include some gravel roads with corrugations for the crossovers and SUVs please, considering anyone who wants to enjoy this massive country and the campsites may have to travel quite a few kms on gravel n dirt.
In South Africa we don't get the AWD, sunroof, the old screen and the top of the range GT still has the DC-T Maybe Kia uses us as a dumping ground because we don't have the AWD Sportage models too Disappointing
Kia made a good decision stepping away from that terrible dual clutch transmission. This seltos may be a better buy than the tucson for that reason. If you live in a hilly area don't even consider a dual clutch, tucson or sportage. You will regret it. Better to get an eclipse cross , yaris cross or corolla cross if you live in hilly area , this seltos will also be very good in hilly areas ,because of the automatic transmission
Apparently the Sport model is "on order" at my local dealer in Geelong and they tell me it's an approximately six month. Been looking at other dealers too, but no luck there either.
I’m going to ask a silly question You’re reviewing new vehicles ? When you do the 0-60 and 130 etc basically punching the car hard does it not damage the new engine ? I remember long time ago dealers would say to not exceed a certain limit when driving a new vehicle to “ break it in “ ??
Hi Paul can you guys please review the 2023 turbocharged Subaru Outback thank you. also is it just me that thinks the back of the lower spec seltos models kind of look like the back of the 2016 honda hrv’s but more modern?
Just say no to Subaru. You don’t want to be one of those people everyone laughs at. We laugh at them here in the Northeastern United States anyway. It’s the car of liberals…if that means anything to you. Haha! I don’t even watch the reviews because Subarus make me sick. They are rather ugly too. Well, very ugly to be honest.
Just to clarify, I don’t believe in vehicles being a status symbol. But at the same time, you wouldn’t want to buy a vehicle that is widely associated with people that suck the big one either. Unless you have absolutely no other choice of course.
@@Ricky-mo6mv cause in America they look like shit, in Australia people don’t care if you drive a Subaru. I suspect it’s a different scenario in Australia. Nothing personal. I lease a 2021 KIA Seltos SX turbo in neptune blue and have been very happy with it. It’s nice to have a vehicle that isn’t exactly like everyone else’s on the road. Only time will tell if it’s reliable. In the meantime though, I’m just comfortable knowing that I don’t look like a douche.
Hi. I've pre-ordered the Kia Seltos LX+ 2023, the new face-lift version.. I'm just really confused as to what specs and features come with the LX+ model. I've seen since many reviews and tried to read up about it but to no availability, the purchase price for my Kia was $33,750 and $3500 of it, is upgrades. What upgrades would that be and what is the difference?
Misses and I test drove a 2021 Seltos GT Line back to back with a 2020 Mazda 6 2.5T Atenza. Both were priced at 40k. Both had 40,000kms on the clock. The Mazda won hands down. For practicality sure, the Kia won ever so slightly, but single zone climate at that price point is a joke, when this is a top of the line specification. The MG Excite (35kDA) is 1 up from the "Pov" spec and it has dual zone, while the likes of the Corolla Cross GXL (40kDA) isn't even the top spec and has it. Just think how many times you've gotten in the car with the misses, and you've say got it on 24 and she's got it on 18. Happens every day in my car 🤣. Plus the scratchy plastics and just general interior doesn't really feel like a nice place to be. I honestly feel like the GT-Line is 5-7k overpriced. Good review though Paul, love ya work mate.
The CX-30 is a pretty sweet looking vehicle. However, the big downfall for me is the miniature size. The back seat is a horror show. If that, or cargo space doesn’t matter to you, then go for it! I consider the CX-30 to be more of a lifted up hatchback. But it is very nice!
Ford has been there in the Indian market for 30 years..but Had to exit due to poor sales figures. Kia entered Indian market 4 years ago and they can't even keep up with the demand...What an irony...🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
I had just about decided my next new car would be the Mazda CX-30 Astina when along came the announcement of the revised Kia Seltos GT-line, slightly less expensive, a better view out, a more flexible engine and best of all a regular 8-speed auto in place of the DCT. BUT I am horrified to now learn that we are not getting the 360 degree camera available in some markets and thus presumably not the dashboard side views when using the indicators. At my advanced, not easy to turn the neck age, that omission is a deal-breaker for me. I could well put up with all the hard plastic and the single air-con , but I want that all-round view and would gladly give up the silly interior "disco" lights for it. Oh well, back to the Mazda. I can console myself with its classier interior, turning headlights, likely quieter interior and more supple ride, a 360 camera and a colour that really appeals to me (platinum quartz). Plus a more convenient servicing location.
Cx 30 is much smaller in height and boot is so tiny vs seltos. Feature 4 feature is cx30 same price driveaway 45k? I agree about the 360 camera its on everything now over 40k it's madness. Engine in seltos would kill the mazda at 146kw turbo that a huge factor.
When you do you reviews on SUV’s - to measure boot space can you please show a video of the new seltos with a golf bag fitting sideways without having to put the seats down please
Ordered our Kia Seltos sport in March 2023. It is now December 2023 and still not any the wiser as to when we will be getting our car. The contract stated we would get the car in September 2023, if not before then (probably a salesman line). Not really happy with the customer service, not keeping the buyer informed at all. A lot of excuses, like Kia has changed there production system which has held everything up. Only asking for a bit of honesty as to when our vehicle might arrive. But the dealer does not have a clue. Probably will put me off buying another Kia. And I am thinking seriously of pulling out of the contract all together and getting our deposit back. Not Happy Jan!!!
Just cannot conprehend why people move from having instrument cluster an infotainment screen to an ugly lcd display 😢 You like screens go buy a tv bring the analog speedos back on regular cars.. At least as an option
It is a lot less expensive than the top Corolla Cross, which engine-wise is relatively slow, doesn't have ventilated seats and is more cramped in the rear seat.
A bit of a waiting list! What is the point of Kia advertising, when they can’t fill orders from March 2022! Kia need to open more plants, or increase production. I signed a contract for this new car, and was told it would be here before Christmas. Now we are looking at Easter. That makes it a 8-10 month wait. They don’t disclose that do they…..
@@carz232 in the end it took 10.5 months. I am really happy with the Seltos. I won't use the cliche, that it was worth the wait. I am very happy but no car is worth waiting over 10 months.
Love your reviews! I was doing some research and noticed a disturbing trend for new small and mid size vehicles being imported to Australia and would be really interested if you are seeing same trend. It appears that manufacturers are dumping poor fuel economy vehicles in the small to mid size segments in Australia. Unfortunately this also means that we are stuck with lousy performance in this segment unless you buy highest spec trim. Kia & Hyundai - all vehicles except for highest spec trim normally aspirated, Ford no mild hybrids, SKODA no entry or mid level Fabias, Subaru no XT turbo,
Why oh why do all cars seem to have a black interior, it's so boring. How about a beige or grey interior. I have a white Honda and it looks good and it keeps the car cooler in summer but then it has the black interior which heats the car up. A two tone interior would've been great.
Are the rear indicators and reverse LED ? No from what i see its lazy and cheapens look and stupid reverse below bumper where no 1 can see when ur backing up. The boot is probably the biggest in class and bigger than some medium suv which is great. Lots of plus and few minus.

Mitsubishi got it right by still showing the speed limit on the dash, and simply having it flash if you are going faster, no annoying beeping at you.
The interior of the older version shown at 3:16 looks better than the interior of the 2023 models sold here in South Africa,
Tried to order one in December but was told a minimum of a 4 month wait for the GT-Line. Have gone with a Subaru Forester instead - at least, I'll have more range off-road.
Thank you! Am considering upgrading from 2018 GT line Sportage diesel to an Seltos GT line petrol. review provided great insights. thank you!!
Put my deposit for the GT line today! About a 4 month wait in WA. Fingers crossed it’s no longer than that.
Paul, which would be your pick the Seltos or Corolla Cross ?
Yes plzzzz advise
Just helped my
Mother get the 23 seltos EX Nightfall edition…. Love the little thing. Popular in the US here as well
Could you guys possibly do a VS of this and the VW T-ROC and other new Small SUV alike. Thanks Paul.
How do you know it's a her?🤣
That’s not a power boot button. That’s just to unlock the boot from afar if someone wants to get something from your car.
It seems like Kia/Hyundai are moving away from being Australia’s value proposition and handing that mantle to the likes of Haval and MG ☹
Because they make good cars now not trash
MG is a Chinese company with British brand in disguise, Haval is from China…..I will think twice before buying anything from CCP’s China, which has been bullying and even threatening Australia!
Idk why the sad face. It’s a good thing. Kia and Hyundai will takeover brands such as Toyota and Nissan who’s been lagging behind in interior tech.
@@Hansanaw and performance
@@Hansanaw Sad face is for my own selfish reasons. They have priced themselves beyond what I can afford. If I want a small/mid size SUV I’ll likely have to roll the dice on a Haval. When Kia/Hyundai were still relatively new and unproven yet in the Australian market, at least I knew that South Korea had high manufacturing standards. China though 🤷♂
I think Only Australia get new kia seltos without 360 cameras and digital gear selector which is disappointing. I ve seen these features in overseas models
USA does not get this either.
Finally a car with a full sized spare… seems dumb in Oz (esp with out distances between cities) to have a tyre goo kit or even a space saver spare…
Hey Paul how do u think the seltos compares vs the Havel H6 GT 4wd. I’m currently looking at both. Which do you prefer/recommend?
The H6 GT looks cool, and probably has sharper pricing in relation to equipment levels but tbh Kia has established a name for itself and is a proven, reliable brand. The Haval has a question mark over its reliability as the brand hasn’t been around for that long around here for us to really compare the ownership experience.
I’d personally spend a touch more on a comparably equipped Kia - as I know ownership will be a hassle free experience. Also when you want to sell the car down the line, the better resale basically cancels out any difference in initial price - it’s the safer bet.
@@User-cb4jm thanks, love your work. I think I’ll be getting the seltos for the wife. I’m still waiting on my raptor to arrive.
@@User-cb4jm which is the better SUV, the Seltos or the Honda BRV?
Ordered GT line in September can't wait to get it, hopefully not a 12 month wait. Can't wait to test drive it as well.
Have you received yours yet?
@@carz232 sure have picked it up in February absolutely love it ❤️
Loved my 2021 Seltos SX Turbo so much, I just ordered the 2024 version which upgraded EVERYTHING I would have upgraded. Its an excellent looking truck and handles beautifully. My ONLY complaint with KIA is they short-change the Seltos buyer when they don't offer the gun metal gray color. Its petty nonsense and cheapens the brand!
Reversing at 75km/h sounds scary. I wonder if that's the fastest you've tested?
From what I've found, the Nissan Z Manual they tested a few months back reached 76km/h, so only 1km/h short but still VERY fast in reverse!
@@henrytoussaint7 I assume the ratio is so tall because the overall reversing experience is easier when you can manage the power smoothly. A tall reverse ratio helps with that aspect of drivability.
Great review Paul, any chance you could review the new Nissan qashqai? as its another small suv I'm considering along with the seltos
Does that mean Kia Sportage/Hyundai Tucson will get 1.6T + 8 speed automatic?
I would bet money on it. The DCT on the Sportage is one of the worst on the road.
@@kane4013 dct on spotage ??? not on my 19 model...6 speed

We don’t get the Seltos here in Europe.
We have two different subcompact SUVs, the Stonic which you get in Ozzyland, and the XCeed, which is just a jacked up Ceed.
Does it has panoramic sunroof ??🤔🤔
I notice you didn't test the speed sign recognition as I've heard that this is really annoying and needs to be disabled every time you start the car by drilling down into the menus. That would be enough to stop me buying one. I did test drive the 2 litre version a couple of weeks back with the CVT and it surprised me how well it went. Was difficult to tell it wasn't an auto. Also the dealer told me these are approx 6mth wait if you order now.
Still can't believe how no one has ever talked about how small the front door window is on seltos.
146kw amd 8.2 secs for 0-100. The kilowatt count suggests that it should be a lot faster.
Lovely car and a good review Paul 👌👍
It will be useful to mention the dimensions
It's crazy that the GTX line in India is better in than this in some aspects..
Interior wise there are few changes on cup holders and mainly we got full alloy wheels.
The alloys shown in this are for HTX and HTX+ varient in India.
disappointly still has only single zone air conditioner and no wireless apple/ android connect. so not for me
Hi Paul, great job as always mate.
You are including more n more important info into your reviews.
Could you also possibly include some gravel roads with corrugations for the crossovers and SUVs please, considering anyone who wants to enjoy this massive country and the campsites may have to travel quite a few kms on gravel n dirt.
In South Africa we don't get the AWD, sunroof, the old screen and the top of the range GT still has the DC-T
Maybe Kia uses us as a dumping ground because we don't have the AWD Sportage models too
Disappointing
what SUV has the quietest ride - I wish i could get the smaller rims and bigger tyres of the S spec on the GT Line
Hey Paul do u think you could put the LED globes that are in the GT line into the sport plus??
Kia made a good decision stepping away from that terrible dual clutch transmission. This seltos may be a better buy than the tucson for that reason. If you live in a hilly area don't even consider a dual clutch, tucson or sportage. You will regret it.
Better to get an eclipse cross , yaris cross or corolla cross if you live in hilly area , this seltos will also be very good in hilly areas ,because of the automatic transmission
How does the Seltos compare to the Honda BRV in your opinion? Which is the better SUV?
Apparently the Sport model is "on order" at my local dealer in Geelong and they tell me it's an approximately six month. Been looking at other dealers too, but no luck there either.
I’m going to ask a silly question
You’re reviewing new vehicles ?
When you do the 0-60 and 130 etc basically punching the car hard does it not damage the new engine ? I remember long time ago dealers would say to not exceed a certain limit when driving a new vehicle to “ break it in “ ??
Can someone explain the point of the "how fast does it go in reverse" test? I don't get it.
3rd podium...
Kiaaaaaa!!!! Grossly underrated in Australia.
Lol
Is apple CarPlay wireless on the lower trim models?
I wish they had this engine/transmission combo in the Sportage.
I already have a 2016 Subaru outback 3.6r and it’s perfectly fine and I’m looking to buy a second car which will be a 2023 Subaru Outback touring XT . anyways what car do you drive then i bet it’s worse than any Subaru.
@@MrJBL0 Really…they look different in Australia? That’s good! I have always heard that they are a reliable vehicle, but here in America it somehow became the pick of liberals for decades. Many of them are currently adorned with Biden stickers, so that should tell you something. They are also the people you see hanging out in parking lots, in their Subarus talking on their cell phone via Bluetooth while flailing their arms incessantly.

Hi Paul! What was the problem with the KIA’s DSG? Kindly enlighten us.
can you tell if it has a rear sensor for parking?
Wow that’s one of the fastest cars I’ve seen in reverse.Impressive
We shopped around, ordered the MY24 Seltos GT Line
Is the imt variant launched too
Where are you from?
Ordered a New Seltos Sport in Pluton Blue, quoted 28th July delivery estimate, so five months. Who knows how accurate that is. In Brisbane
tried it yesterday, it s lovely but quite hard in the city to turn at low speed, the steering wheel doesnt turn that easily at lower speed.
Hmm. I think the steering is awesome. People who drive my car comment on how good the radius is as well…at low speeds of course.
What about the Canadian market ??? Will the LX has the new engine? And will it have the digital dash
Can you review the new 2024 model please 🙏
Oops, wrong person. Anyway, my thoughts are still valid…haha!
Im sold! So much for such a good price.
Any idea when it will hit the South African market???
Ford has been there in the Indian market for 30 years..but Had to exit due to poor sales figures.
Kia entered Indian market 4 years ago and they can't even keep up with the demand...What an irony...🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
You should review the Jeep compass 2022 model!
Death of the DCT Whopee . That would be my first question when buying a new car does it have a DCT or CVT ? If so not interested thank you.
DCT in korean cars are bad
@@erensfeet5563 vw dct are good but I still wouldn't buy one.
It’s why I stick to Mazdas. Nothing beats their 6 speed autos that are in pretty much all their cars.
When you do you reviews on SUV’s - to measure boot space can you please show a video of the new seltos with a golf bag fitting sideways without having to put the seats down please
Nicely done!! 👍
Just cannot conprehend why people move from having instrument cluster an infotainment screen to an ugly lcd display 😢
You like screens go buy a tv bring the analog speedos back on regular cars.. At least as an option
Someone tell me why he's happy for ditching the dct transmission?
It should be priced way under the Corolla cross to get a chance in the competition because i'd pick the Cross everyday of the week.
It is a lot less expensive than the top Corolla Cross, which engine-wise is relatively slow, doesn't have ventilated seats and is more cramped in the rear seat.
@@worrywart1311 The Corolla Cross is uglier as well

A bit of a waiting list! What is the point of Kia advertising, when they can’t fill orders from March 2022! Kia need to open more plants, or increase production. I signed a contract for this new car, and was told it would be here before Christmas. Now we are looking at Easter. That makes it a 8-10 month wait. They don’t disclose that do they…..
How long did you end up waiting to get it?
@@carz232 in the end it took 10.5 months. I am really happy with the Seltos. I won't use the cliche, that it was worth the wait. I am very happy but no car is worth waiting over 10 months.

We would love to see a review on haval h9 plz
