I smiled when you said you sometimes get overwhelmed by happy chaos and need to”hide out”. That’s the grown up version of Rhett’s response to noise, and guaranteed he will find his way to do just that. I’m with you, Rhett and my grandson - cacophony gives me an actual physical reaction. I have been in such a makeup standstill over the past year. I’ve been very ill, and the It makes me sad every time I look at the beautiful products I have but have no ambition to put on. I’ll throw on a cream shadow stick, mascara, and lip gloss but that’s about it. I’m not sure how to get myself out of this makeup depression of sorts. Watching Emily’s videos always helps my mood by 150%. If only I could get some of her enthusiasm & energy to apply makeup every couple of days, maybe it would lift my spirits. I’m at least going to try!! 💜😊💙

My son is also very sensitive to sounds. We got him noise reducing ear muffs and now he's happy as can be going to any event because he knows he can wear his headphones. We live in Indiana and are Purdue fans. It was so great being able to take him to a football this past season because he absolutely loves the Boilermaker Express train (well he loves all trains really!). His eyes lit up so big when he got to see it in person and the noise didn't bother him anymore! We're planning on going to a women's basketball game next weekend too.

Hi! I was also a kid who hated loud noises, lol. Nowadays, I use this thing called "loops" which dull noise. I used to use it when I worked at a daycare, lol, it was a lifesaver. Can still make out voices but it's less overpowering. They just look like lil earbuds, too :D
I have to say I'm really a diehard Colourpop and Profusion eyeshadow gal. I can't break away. And u have converted me to lazy liner. I've gotten, cold brew, pony, etc. loving that!!!! I did declutter a bit today. I'm going to stop holding on to mascaras that didn't work, liners that are old or pull, and lip colors I never use.
I have lip colors that I despised on me, expensive ones that came in a sub box. I changed their color by using concealer, a blue chubby stuck, a dark cool tone brown eyeliner and so forth. It makes a huge difference as I couldn't see throwing away an expensive lipstick. Most of my lipsticks are drugstore.
@allisonhamilton1245 I get ya!! Guess I'm bit more on the hoarding side. I will keep a lipstick until it smells bad. Lol. Lipsticks are the product I have the most. My mom always said no matter what never leave the house without your lipstick. Lol.
When I worked at Sephora a lot of my coworkers used the Sephora Microsmooth powder the same way you like to use the Kosas Cloud Set powder and/or they used it the way you're supposed to use an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (buffed all over after complexion with blush and bronzer already applied but before highlighter): In my personal makeup routine I use it as a setting/coverage powder over tinted moisturizer so it sets everything down and gives a little bit of extra coverage!!
Did a thorough makeup declutter and organization yesterday. Had to part with some OLD favs that were beyond expired. I've decided to do a no buy this year (except mascara) so I can use and enjoy what I have. I found a Buxom primer infused blush in the color Havana which I need to show more love. Well... I tend to be one who holds on to products... Very often my response to something is "If I keep trying it,maybe I'll like it." It bothers me to spend money that I won't get anything out of it. My biggest areas of regrets are foundation & eye shadow palettes.... I just need to do a big declutter!
My goal is to go through mine this year and if I don’t connect, move on. I want to really love everything I use in 2025. Life is too short to not love what we use!! ❤️

I loved my Buxom customizable palette! I hate it's not available at Ulta anymore. I like the Buxom palette you used. I always wear a light look, so your crease was actually a lot darker than I typically go but you're making me want to kick it up a notch!
I love my Buxum palette like the one you used. I'm more salt than pepper and a low contrast complexion. Those colours look nice on me even though I'm a winter and rarely use such warm colours. They seem more neutral than warm. Another good video Em. Thank you.
We lost power in an ice storm when my husband was on a trip. I had all our south facing blinds and curtains up during the sunlight. For north facing areas/“rooms” I stapled plastic shower curtains across openings, even using a huge fold-out cutting board to try blocking cold air currents across the floor. At night, figuring heat rises, my daughter, the animals and I went upstairs to the smallest bedroom (guestroom) in the house to sleep. We got in the bed, the 3 cats piled on top of us, and the GSD was below us. It was plenty warm. I hope it won’t come to that for you - but my daughter, who was 11 at the time, fondly remembers those days as “fun!”
Good morning Em. Revlon has duped the Hourglass liquid blush. I tried it yesterday very pigmented, you need the tiniest drop, lasted all day. Revlon Glimmers Blush Drops. Has the same packaging with the push button on the bottom and all. You won’t get to push that button a bunch though lol because I swear one tiny drop will definitely do both cheeks.
@@emilynoel83 I don’t own the Hourglass-have just tried it in store. But the Revlon may be the most pigmented blush I’ve used-more than Rare Beauty, you need the smallest drop. But it blends on beautifully and stays. Only on Amazon so far-I had seen Jen Phelps review it and I ordered it.

I buy inexpensive, clearance, dollar tree, tj maxx and my drugstore makeup. I can declutter quick if im not feeling any particular item. I just cleaned out some things last night. We are mid reno on the bathroom. I have a shelf of makeup in the closet, another of hair and skin care etc. I grabbed an old pillowcase and just started tossing things. If i hadnt touched it in awhile, it went. But somethings i do keep because they bring me joy.

I had an expensive concealer that I almost decluttered but decided to try it using 1) Eelhoe Revive and Glow Vit C Eye Balm (highly recommended for using instead of Aquafor in the Scott Barnes method) and then I popped on a smidgen of color corrector. Now I love the concealer and my undereyes look better using these 2 prep products anyway. Thanks for a good video. I'm pull8ng out some eye crayons foe adding a bit of color as you've done. Pretty blush, before and after the powder application.
I think you nailed it when you said you’re addicted to full coverage. Personally, I don’t think you need it, and as you age, should consider how it will add years to your appearance. Just my 2 cents as someone older than you! Lol

Two years ago, I passed on a few lipsticks that were not my shades (la not suited to my skin tone), and another was doubles in my stock. I don't even know how I ended up buying the same shade three times 😂 😂 😂 😂 and passed along one foundation that was very light for me. I think last year. Outside of this declutter, I did not need to do much decluttering in 2024.
Awwww my son was always sensitive to noise too, so we bought little headphones to wear during games to help dull the noise. Also, I used my wet n wild pencil this morning too for the first time in a while. It felt clunky for me too!!
I use the Sephora powder every day. I’ve even repurchased it. I really like that powder! It covers my imperfections and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks really well
I hold onto packaging I enjoy using so that I can repurpose it for other products - e.g. I'm about to finish a mini size of the Laura Mercier setting powder and I'm planning to clean it out and put my next setting powder in there because I prefer the smaller packaging. I like the sprayer on my mini size of the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray (so far) and once I'm done with the actual product, I'll be transferring my next setting spray into it ❤ I got little empty tubes with doe foots to transfer in liquid products that I want different packaging for.
This is a good reminder to do this with my small collection. There are several "ok" items that I need to let go of and just hang on to -- and use -- things I love and can count on every time.
That Kosas BB cream is one of my very favorite things! Especially when set with their powder. But I definitely prefer a lighter coverage. Your finished look is beautiful as always! ❤
I love the reminders to pull out products that haven't gotten used much so I can really experience them. I did treat myself to that four-pack of Inn Beauty Project lip glazes right after Christmas. I found the last one at my local Sephora and it was on sale. I love all of them and would consider them very high quality at a more moderate Sephora price point. 🥰
There is a canker sore medicine called Kanka. It works quite well to dry things up quick. You can go the old fashioned route and put some alum on it, but that works better on a lip sore because it stays dry.
That's the part I don't like...the way the house feels once you take everything down. I've been doing more winter decor for Christmas so I can leave things out for a while. In honor of my Grandma's birthday January 9th, I keep EVERYTHING out, tree too, until the 10th. Christmas was her favorite holiday so I get a couple extra weeks to wait.❤️
I'm in the winter storm zone, too and what a time to declutter everything, including makeup! But, I truly LOVE everything I have, it's hard to part with it. I would like to try that Sephora powder - that looks interesting. I'm thinking, if I had to declutter something in my collection right now, it would be all my BareMinerals eyeshadow palettes, but I'm so tied to them because I learned how to do my eyeshadow with them. And they're a great product! I do have an ELF blush with the puff-tip applicator and I'm just not into that, so that could go. And BRUSHES! Those don't get talked about often enough - I have SO many duplicate brushes - I definitely could declutter those. Have a great and safe weekend!

Before we left for our trip this holiday season, I went through my makeup collection and I am having a hard time letting things go (just cause I spent money on them). I have 3 teen daughters so I plan on letting them play with some of the products, but eye products like mascara and eyeliners go bad or dry out, so those are usually first to get thrown out.
I’m a terrible declutterer. I keep products way too long but then I don’t feel guilty when I toss an old item out. I also use up a lot. I’m doing a replacement only year and attempting pan in every palette. I know I’ll only get through 2-3 pans. I’m ok with that.
Hey, Em! The Sephora Microsmooth Powder is a holy grail for me and has been for a while. It evens out my skin so nicely with such a pretty finish. However, I was going to repurchase recently and it looks like they've reformulated it and now it's not as good... sadly, I'm not sure if I'm going to take a chance on it again, but it's been such a great powder for me in the past.

Happy Saturday Em! I realized that I have so much makeup, too much, and need to do something. I've had friends and family shocked when they see my room. Yes, I have a makeup room and buy makeup like I'm an Influencer. I realize it's not needed. I could "shop my stash" and use something different daily and still probably wouldn't use it all. It's gotten out of control. I just love makeup so much. It makes me happy. But it's not getting used. I have a hard time parting with my makeup too. My niece just started wearing makeup and I turned her loose in there. But I told her I'd have to check what she picked out, in case it's something I just couldn't part with. So I'm really gonna try to pick different makeup to use, try to start letting go if I just don't think I'll keep using it. I'm not setting any exact goals, so as not to overwhelm myself or make it difficult. Just try to do something different in 2025. My eyeshadow palettes are the hardest. Those may stick around, lol. I have been really thinking before any new purchases. Have been for a few months now. Just looking at my own collection and weighing if I already have something similar...which I usually do, lol. It has to be something so exciting or unusual now. Makeup is really my happy place. My boyfriend had a stroke a few years ago and I have became a caretaker. Doing my makeup is that little piece of time daily that I get to do something for me and I think that has a lot to do with it too. So gonna try to do more to fill my tank in 2025 too, which could help with this. Makeup is my happy place too! Since I retired I’m not wearing makeup daily and feel bad looking at everything just sitting there. I don’t have nieces, sisters or friends that wear makeup. I wish I did so I could spread the love!
You know, I like a lightweight concealer because I don’t wear foundation. The Glossier concealer takes down maybe 70% of my undereye darkness and is undetectable next to the rest of my bare skin, which is something I don’t get with fuller coverage concealers. Just thought I’d defend the category lol.

This is a cool idea. I dont do a ton of makeup shopping anymore, so probably wouldnt need to do this very often - my strategy the last few years is to shop based on the emily awards! I dont wear makeup every day so dont use up a lot. I look forward to the top picks for trying new things though!

I love this peachy nudeish look!!! I think the Sephora powder is supposed to be a dupe somewhat of the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish powder. I need to get it! Have you seen the new ELF Halo Glow PRESSED powder? I saw it yesterday in target and it surprise me because I have not seen any of the channels that I subscribed to even mention it. The shades did all look rather warm/orangey just like the liquid version so I did not pick one up. I wish brands would not lean that way~~~ all warm toned colors. Emily, I’ve been following you for quite a few years now I’m 66 love make up always have loved make up and really really appreciate you I would encourage you to speak about some of the negative aspects of parenting three children sometimes social media shows the best of the best, and even though I am no longer a mom of young children I know what that feels like to just sit down and cry, sometimes so many young moms would Feel so validated, listening to your struggles I think you are a fantastic mother from what we see but there are always moments of being overwhelmed. I'm not great at decluttering products - if I've spent my money on them I want to use them. But over the last year or so I've had to be a bit more ruthless with letting go products that just don't work for me (and also not buying makeup I know won't work for me). Did you storm come in? We have a livht dusting of snow here tonight in Manchester, UK. How did swapping out your decor go? I put away my tree & decorations today and I also washed the Christmas towels and throws too. Only got my bedding left to wash when I have the room to dry it, lol.
I have a bunch of Bobby Brown eye stick minis and I also struggle to use them! I think as eyeshadow they don't last long. I have oily eyelids the pigment breaks up after a few hours.

Noise canceling headphones are great for autistic children that get extreme anxiety over sounds.

At night, figuring heat rises, my daughter, the animals and I went upstairs to the smallest bedroom (guestroom) in the house to sleep. We got in the bed, the 3 cats piled on top of us, and the GSD was below us. It was plenty warm. I hope it won’t come to that for you - but my daughter, who was 11 at the time, fondly remembers those days as “fun!”
Good morning Em. Revlon has duped the Hourglass liquid blush. I tried it yesterday very pigmented, you need the tiniest drop, lasted all day. Revlon Glimmers Blush Drops. Has the same packaging with the push button on the bottom and all. You won’t get to push that button a bunch though lol because I swear one tiny drop will definitely do both cheeks.

@@emilynoel83 I don’t own the Hourglass-have just tried it in store. But the Revlon may be the most pigmented blush I’ve used-more than Rare Beauty, you need the smallest drop. But it blends on beautifully and stays. Only on Amazon so far-I had seen Jen Phelps review it and I ordered it.

I buy inexpensive, clearance, dollar tree, tj maxx and my drugstore makeup. I can declutter quick if im not feeling any particular item.
I just cleaned out some things last night. We are mid reno on the bathroom. I have a shelf of makeup in the closet, another of hair and skin care etc. I grabbed an old pillowcase and just started tossing things. If i hadnt touched it in awhile, it went.
But somethings i do keep because they bring me joy.

For little Rhett, have you heard of loops? Theyre great! I use them, and i know they have childrens versions. Wonderful for noise sensitivity ❤
I suffer from mouth ulcers. I was told that toothpastes containing SLS make them worse. I use Sensodyne now and i dont get half as many x x
I had an expensive concealer that I almost decluttered but decided to try it using 1) Eelhoe Revive and Glow Vit C Eye Balm (highly recommended for using instead of Aquafor in the Scott Barnes method) and then I popped on a smidgen of color corrector. Now I love the concealer and my undereyes look better using these 2 prep products anyway. Thanks for a good video. I'm pull8ng out some eye crayons foe adding a bit of color as you've done. Pretty blush, before and after the powder application.

I think you nailed it when you said you’re addicted to full coverage. Personally, I don’t think you need it, and as you age, should consider how it will add years to your appearance. Just my 2 cents as someone older than you! Lol
My son is the same way with the sudden loud noises. We got him some noise cancelling headphones from Amazon and he now enjoys games much more.

I have been in such a makeup standstill over the past year. I’ve been very ill, and the It makes me sad every time I look at the beautiful products I have but have no ambition to put on. I’ll throw on a cream shadow stick, mascara, and lip gloss but that’s about it. I’m not sure how to get myself out of this makeup depression of sorts. Watching Emily’s videos always helps my mood by 150%. If only I could get some of her enthusiasm & energy to apply makeup every couple of days, maybe it would lift my spirits. I’m at least going to try😆😄😅
Two years ago, I passed on a few lipsticks that were not my shades (la not suited to my skin tone), and another was doubles in my stock. I don't even know how I ended up buying the same shade three times 😂 😂 😂 😂 and passed along one foundation that was very light for me. I think last year. Outside of this declutter, I did not need to do much decluttering in 2024.
Awwww my son was always sensitive to noise too, so we bought little headphones to wear during games to help dull the noise. Also, I used my wet n wild pencil this morning too for the first time in a while. It felt clunky for me too!!
Please do more of these! I like this type of declutter/shop my stash.

I use the Sephora powder every day. I’ve even repurchased it. I really like that powder! It covers my imperfections and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks really well

There’s a product you can buy at cvs or other drugstores that will cover the canker sore until it heals
I hold onto packaging I enjoy using so that I can repurpose it for other products - e.g. I'm about to finish a mini size of the Laura Mercier setting powder and I'm planning to clean it out and put my next setting powder in there because I prefer the smaller packaging. I like the sprayer on my mini size of the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray (so far) and once I'm done with the actual product, I'll be transferring my next setting spray into it ❤ I got little empty tubes with doe foots to transfer in liquid products that I want different packaging for.
This is a good reminder to do this with my small collection. There are several "ok" items that I need to let go of and just hang on to -- and use -- things I love and can count on every time.
That Kosas BB cream is one of my very favorite things! Especially when set with their powder. But I definitely prefer a lighter coverage. Your finished look is beautiful as always! ❤
I love the reminders to pull out products that haven't gotten used much so I can really experience them. I did treat myself to that four-pack of Inn Beauty Project lip glazes right after Christmas. I found the last one at my local Sephora and it was on sale. I love all of them and would consider them very high quality at a more moderate Sephora price point. 🥰

There is a canker sore medicine called Kanka. It works quite well to dry things up quick. You can go the old fashioned route and put some alum on it, but that works better on a lip sore because it stays dry.

That's the part I don't like...the way the house feels once you take everything down. I've been doing more winter decor for Christmas so I can leave things out for a while. In honor of my Grandma's birthday January 9th, I keep EVERYTHING out, tree too, until the 10th. Christmas was her favorite holiday so I get a couple extra weeks to wait.❤️

I'm in the winter storm zone, too and what a time to declutter everything, including makeup! But, I truly LOVE everything I have, it's hard to part with it. I would like to try that Sephora powder - that looks interesting. I'm thinking, if I had to declutter something in my collection right now, it would be all my BareMinerals eyeshadow palettes, but I'm so tied to them because I learned how to do my eyeshadow with them. And they're a great product! I do have an ELF blush with the puff-tip applicator and I'm just not into that, so that could go. And BRUSHES! Those don't get talked about often enough - I have SO many duplicate brushes - I definitely could declutter those. Have a great and safe weekend!

Before we left for our trip this holiday season, I went through my makeup collection and I am having a hard time letting things go (just cause I spent money on them). I have 3 teen daughters so I plan on letting them play with some of the products, but eye products like mascara and eyeliners go bad or dry out, so those are usually first to get thrown out.
I’m a terrible declutterer. I keep products way too long but then I don’t feel guilty when I toss an old item out. I also use up a lot. I’m doing a replacement only year and attempting pan in every palette. I know I’ll only get through 2-3 pans. I’m ok with that.

Hey, Em! The Sephora Microsmooth Powder is a holy grail for me and has been for a while. It evens out my skin so nicely with such a pretty finish. However, I was going to repurchase recently and it looks like they've reformulated it and now it's not as good... sadly, I'm not sure if I'm going to take a chance on it again, but it's been such a great powder for me in the past.

Yay! Glad you're here! I think today is our "calm before the storm" - and then we're under an Ice Storm Warning, and things will be pretty bad Sunday into Monday. Then lots of cold to follow, so we won't be thawing out anytime soon. I've already gotten a couple messages from teachers about the kids' Snow Day work packets :) :) Just hoping we don't lose power!

Happy Saturday Em! I realized that I have so much makeup, too much, and need to do something. I've had friends and family shocked when they see my room. Yes, I have a makeup room and buy makeup like I'm an Influencer. I realize it's not needed. I could "shop my stash" and use something different daily and still probably wouldn't use it all. It's gotten out of control. I just love makeup so much. It makes me happy. But it's not getting used. I have a hard time parting with my makeup too. My niece just started wearing makeup and I turned her loose in there. But I told her I'd have to check what she picked out, in case it's something I just couldn't part with. So I'm really gonna try to pick different makeup to use, try to start letting go if I just don't think I'll keep using it. I'm not setting any exact goals, so as not to overwhelm myself or make it difficult. Just try to do something different in 2025. My eyeshadow palettes are the hardest. Those may stick around, lol. I have been really thinking before any new purchases. Have been for a few months now. Just looking at my own collection and weighing if I already have something similar...which I usually do, lol. It has to be something so exciting or unusual now. Makeup is really my happy place. My boyfriend had a stroke a few years ago and I have became a caretaker. Doing my makeup is that little piece of time daily that I get to do something for me and I think that has a lot to do with it too. So gonna try to do more to fill my tank in 2025 too, which could help with this. Makeup is my happy place too! Since I retired I’m not wearing makeup daily and feel bad looking at everything just sitting there. I don’t have nieces, sisters or friends that wear makeup. I wish I did so I could spread the love!
You know, I like a lightweight concealer because I don’t wear foundation. The Glossier concealer takes down maybe 70% of my undereye darkness and is undetectable next to the rest of my bare skin, which is something I don’t get with fuller coverage concealers. Just thought I’d defend the category lol.

This is a cool idea. I dont do a ton of makeup shopping anymore, so probably wouldnt need to do this very often - my strategy the last few years is to shop based on the emily awards! I dont wear makeup every day so dont use up a lot. I look forward to the top picks for trying new things though!
I am quick to declutter and give things to my nieces. I have so much great stuff that if it’s just mediocre, it’s out. I definitely reserve favorites too but I’m trying to get better about it. 😆

I love this peachy nudeish look!!! I think the Sephora powder is supposed to be a dupe somewhat of the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish powder. I need to get it! Have you seen the new ELF Halo Glow PRESSED powder? I saw it yesterday in target and it surprise me because I have not seen any of the channels that I subscribed to even mention it. The shades did all look rather warm/orangey just like the liquid version so I did not pick one up. I wish brands would not lean that way~~~ all warm toned colors. I would encourage you to speak about some of the negative aspects of parenting three children sometimes social media shows the best of the best, and even though I am no longer a mom of young children I know what that feels like to just sit down and cry, sometimes so many young moms would Feel so validated, listening to your struggles I think you are a fantastic mother from what we see but there are always moments of being overwhelmed. I encourage you to share that along with the joy ❤

I'm not great at decluttering products - if I've spent my money on them I want to use them. But over the last year or so I've had to be a bit more ruthless with letting go products that just don't work for me (and also not buying makeup I know won't work for me).

How did swapping out your decor go? I put away my tree & decorations today and I also washed the Christmas towels and throws too. Only got my bedding left to wash when I have the room to dry it, lol.

I have a bunch of Bobby Brown eye stick minis and I also struggle to use them! I think as eyeshadow they don't last long. I have oily eyelids the pigment breaks up after a few hours.
Good morning! I dislike the sponge tip applicators so much on the elf products that I have pulled them all off. I just squeeze out a small amount on my finger and dab it around.
You have so much makeup it's good to revisit products that are not used regularly, you must do that for a reason. It's a good to make that decision do I keep it? Do I like what it's doing for me? If not declutter for sure. ❤
