  • 👩🏻‍🍳 Red bean paste is called “PatAngGeum (팥앙금)” or “JeokAngGeum (적앙금)” in Korean. It is used for different kinds of sweet Korean dishes and desserts such as red bean porridge, red bean rice cakes, red bean ice cream, red bean paste bread, and so on. “Pat” means red bean, “Jeok” means red, and “AngGeum” means a paste. You can easily buy pre-made red bean paste in a can from a Korean or Asian grocery store; however, it is good to make your own at home, since it is healthier and tastier. I have been asked to make this recipe from many people who cannot buy it. So today, I very happy to share my recipe for red bean paste. Once you taste the delicious homemade red bean paste, you will not want to buy the one in the can anymore.

    I tried making this twice. The first time came out like soup because I just left it. You cannot overcook it or else it will be watery, you got to keep watch and right when it becomes squishable, remove it from the heat! So then you'd get a thicker paste. It took me only 2hrs to get it to squish. Also, you got to use Adzuki beans, not just any red bean, buying from a bulk food store is the best and freshest since those packages at asian markets are most likely pretty old.

    I thought of it too.. but I didn't try it yet.. so can't tell the result.. we don't have canned beans in Korea like here (America)... so use use dried beans or fresh beans.. another thing.. is My husband said.. he never saw the red bean from can.. I mean..the same kind of red bean I used for this recipe... the red bean from can in usa is different kinds of bean.. so the taste will be different.

    Oops,, to be honest, I don't see a recipe.. combining red bean paste and hot pepper... maybe close thing I can think is.. red bean prroidge.. we eat it with kimchi which is spicy food..but again..the hot peppers are not not in the red bean paste dish itself though..

    The time for cooking the bean can be various depending on the power (heat) of your stove... so as I showed in this video.. cook the beans until the bean breaks easily with your fingers when you rub them. ^^

  • @aeriskitchen
    @aeriskitchen  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @nweknwek
    Yes you can.. make sure that you have enough water to boil them in a pressure cooker. so I will not get burnt.. (it's difficult to check how much water you have left in a pressure cooker..since you can't open it while you are cooking..)

  • @aeriskitchen
    @aeriskitchen  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe you need to cook the bean longer until you get the right texture.. (Dry)..

    Maybe you put too much liquid when you ground the cooked beans.. Just keep cook the bean paste ..so the liquid will be evaporated and the paste become thicker.. keep stir it.

    I made this today using canned red kidney beans and it's a lot easier and quickie. Little tips using the canned beans, don't forget to drain the canned liquid and rinse at least twice or the paste will taste ridiculous. Don't add too much salt, well I didn't add salt at all.
    If the bean paste too liquid, add a mixture of 1tbsp of cornflour/maizena and 1 tbsp of water.
    I tried the red bean paste bread too, it was reaaaally good. My fam love it. Thanks for the recipe! :3
