  • For many anglers, when it comes to bass fishing, it's pretty easy to pick out the baits that work well. But what about the lures and presentations that don't do so well? Sometimes you run across a bait that just fails to produce any positive results no matter how long or hard you fish it. In this video, we'll cover four such baits that were used of the course of 2022. These are the worst baits of 2022! #fishing #bassfishing #bassbuggy

    Boy that sure is a gorgeous lake! You all look like you're having very nice weather. I look out my window and all I see is white.

    I've caught some mondos on the hybrid hunter on G-ville. It's very situational, but if the right conditions occur its hard to beat.

    I’ve had amazing days with the jackhammer but I can agree on the hybrid hunter I’m still looking for the best situation for it. I can’t stand the click bait I get em in my subscription boxes sometimes but it took me three months to catch one on the green pumpkin, they get given away now. That frog I wouldn’t ever waste money on, the second you showed it I wasn’t at all surprised you never got a bite on it, that thing looks terrible!

      @LowBrowFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      That frog does look terrible. But crazy baits come along every once in a while and just ignite the fishing world....chatterbait anyone? I remember when those were new and all the older guys were saying it was just a gimmick; an angler catcher, not a fish catcher. We all know how that turned out. So i'm not afraid to take a chance on something that looks a little goofy now and again.

    I think you did a good job handling all that. It’s not easy talking about stuff that didn’t work. One of the often unnoticed things to us anglers is how many lures are just quietly discontinued for one reason or another. Happy New Year!

      Thanks! I really appreciate you saying that! It can be even harder to admit that maybe you got suckered by something shiny, lol. Case in point: that goofy frog thing.

    Not gonna lie....I sorta liked the unboxing part. There's something oddly satisfying about it.

    I've used the hybrid hunter a few times. It catches fish but I don't think it's for the type of waters you have. Personally, I like them.

    😃 Hybrid Hunter? I love it. I have only used the Jr. Version. Yes I've caught a lot of fish on em. I fish lakes with a lot of vegetation 1-3 feet below the surface. The way I fish it is to reel down till I feel the grass just start to grab then let it float free. The bass usually hit on the pause as the lure is rising. When they hit they hit it hard. You can also use it like a jerk bait. I haven't used it in the prespawn yet,but got me a red one just for that. I can see where it could cause frustration trying to rip through grass though.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, there's no ripping anything through this stuff. The lakes by me are essentially lawns that were overgrown for 10 years and then flooded with 5 feet of water.

    I never thought of googan stuff as radical and new, since none of it is original. I guess that name clickbait is appropriate for that bait. I can't see how that hybrid hunter would come through grass. The hot take on the jack hammer is probably controversial. Plenty of guys think its the greatest bait ever.
    Interesting video, LowBrow!

      Thanks for watching! I normally fish waters just north of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and Pascagoula River basin. There's a bunch of little man-made impoundments around here, nothing bigger than 600 acres or so.

    I'm with you on the Hybrid Hunter, I have yet to land a fish on one, hooked 4 or 5 and lost them all, however I crushed on the stealth blade this year as with the regular jackhammer, my biggest disappointment had to be the Berkeley Gilly , how a bait that looks exactly like the bluegill in my home lake can't get bit is beyond me

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard mixed things about the Gilly. Normally Berkley is a solid brand but I haven't fished those yet so I really can't say.

    My luck with the Hybrid Hunter has been around wood and rock mostly. I do like how shallow it runs and that it has a rolling action. Got 3 bass on three casts off of one tree on my first day out with one and the biggest was 5 lb. I don't really think it's any better than any other shallow crankbait but it works and doesn't hang up in trees.
    I'd keep chucking that one when there's a decent shallow crank bite going and you might be surprised.
    Clickbait sucks but mostly because it has too much lift. You can bend the arm thing and they run better. I caught fish with them after doing that but still not really worth the effort in general.
    The Jackhammer is overpriced and as such, I would tend to agree that it's not worth the effort when there's tons of good vibrating jigs for

    Googans baits are mostly overpriced. The original chatter bait still has my PB 7 4 oz with a white super fluke. I mainly throw Swimbaits probably 75%of the time. For soft plastics I use a lot of zoom, stroke king, Berkeley and Yum. Get yourself a Spro 50 rat. Thow it early and late in the year for true giants and at night, there's nothing better.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of people hate on Googan, but I sorta like 'em. I use all those soft plastic brands too! Don't sleep on the Creme plastics in the discount box at Walmart. I've caught a lot of fish on those!

      @@LowBrowFishing lol I use them for my Spro 50 rat tails when I loose them. Those are the original worms. My very first probably 4 lb fish when I was 12 or 13 was on an original Manns black jelly worm. Another great bait. I'm stuck inside won't be fishing until the end of March in central Massachusetts. I got a tactical wake 210 for Christmas. Check out those. They look amazing. I picked up Swimbaits about 5 years ago and the quality of my fish has gone way up. Wakebaits in Massachusetts at night have produced a lot of 4 to 6 lbers with an occasional 7. It's so fun.
