- This is a comparison video of optimal shroomless (NISC) cuts most people take online. In this video, I explain how much these cuts actually save and what their applications are. Let me know if I should make a part 2 to this and what I should change in the next video.

Some notes:
Donut Plains 3 NISC can save much more if done perfectly, up to 2 seconds actually.

Sometimes I see people hopping while they're in grass. Does that help reduce the drag, or is that just a personal thing?
Also, do you have any tips for hitting that Shy Guy Falls cut? What point to jump, etc?

On Ice Ice Outpost, the first shortcut you take doesn't have to be paired with the ice covered path to the left of the main road afterward. I don't find that part to be much faster and extremely risky when playing online. Not worth the risk for the small reward, because the path is so narrow that if you even get bumped a little, you're rekt
Nice video but on big blue theres a better shortcut where you take the left path after the parachute section (Right after lap 2 starts) and then jump off and hold back. If you do it right you should skip a LOT of track. You can also charge a mini turbo and hold it while in the air to get a higher chance of making the shortcut without falling anywhere you're not supposed to. Also i'm not sure how much time this saves, but at the pink and green parts on Big Blue, you can go on the pink path, jump off onto the green track, and jump off of the green track back onto the pink track. It gets me ahead most of the time and it's fairly safe, so I recommend trying it out sometime. :)

If you use a shroom in the short cut you should also use it when you try the non shortcut version

MT - Mini Turbo
SMT - Super Mini Turbo
UMT - Ultra mini turbo
NISC - No Item Short Cut

Hi Super FX. I'm new to the MK8DX (4 days). I wanted to know how I can do this shroomless cut (0:13 in the video) without lose speed in the grass. I do the drifting, but the grass slow down my kart. What am I doing wrong? Can you help me?

Aero it's questionable. The current world record doesn't do it, but I have high hopes that it does save. We just need to find out the correct way to do it.

dBB first nisc could be done better and then is saves ~0.3 - the key is to *_land earlier_* than on your video (before barrier)
second nisc could be done better to, to do it drive closer to barrier and land earlier doing drift *_without hop_*

But don't you loose a lot of speed when doing the cuts without shroom? You maybe faster at first but then you're slower and those that didn't cut will catch up?
