Tom Kenny’s performance as Firebug is quite remarkable and perhaps this is one of his most serious roles he’s done cause I’m so used to Tom’s other light-hearted and comedic voicework as SpongeBob, The Ice King in Adventure Time, the Mayor and several others in _The PowerPuff Girls,_ just to name a few. Of Course, in some episodes in _Adventure Time_ there were serious and emotional moments of the Ice King/Simon especially when he was befriending and helping a Young Marceline. Looking forward to Episode 5, as Dr. Quinzel/Harley Quinn is the main focus, and voiced by Jamie Chung (Go Go Tomago in _Big Hero 6)_
It's great watching this with you all because I completely missed "Eel" O'Brian drop. I love the visualization of Firebug's broken mind and seeing everything on fire as beautiful. It humanizes him.
The scenes from Selena asking Greta about a sowing machine to her first appearance as Catwoman the music is either the same as the music from Batman Returns or it's a rendition of that music.
Everyone not wanting to watch this show is because of the changes in some of the villains but honestly I love some of these changes. Definitely ready for season 2
@@toxikcarnage Batman’s rogues have had so many stories, doing fresh takes for one medium isn’t the end of the world that some are making it out to be! Loved Penguin, Harley, and the whole series!
@@cloan912 I agree with you there. I actually love the changes they did in the show. Especially with Harley they really made her I really don’t know how to put it. I guess creepy would be the word. Penguin was a fun villain. Mostly for me because it was the opposite of the male counterpart of penguin. Oswald always resented high society and his family, while this penguin, she mingles with high society but still deals with illegal crimes
Besides, some of the "changes" are just going back to the comics' roots. Clayface looks closer to his original design. Catwoman really did initially dress like that and had a Catmobile. (Plus, unlike a lot of costumes that eventually got heavy redesigns, Catwoman's original costume actually holds up well from a fashion standpoint.) There really was a Firebug with a similar design before there was Firefly. Even Alfred was originally chubby.
@@Compucles that's not what people are taking issue with. It's the race and gender swapping, which did make me a bit skeptical, but it's a really good show. The people who hate the race/gender swapping, at least some of them, have seen too many bad adaptations or original films/shows where the main focus was on representation that it has caused people to instantly dislike when other media do the same.
10:25 Matt Reeves isn’t the first to do it. It’s a common thing for young Bruce Wayne and Alfred to have a complicated relationship. Bruce is fixated on being Batman and Alfred doesn’t fully like it. Earth one, zero year, Arkham origins etc did this.
I'd be very interested to learn about Ed Brubaker's input on the show. He's credited as an executive producer. It makes sense to have him involved with the show in some capacity, given his experience with both Batman and noir in general.
This show is so amazing from the original clayface origin with a twist to Harley being her own crazy psychiatrist/jester type character WITHOUT the joker and they still slipped in a “Puddin” lmfao 😂 AND holy hell is Diedrich Bader an amazing Harvey Dent 😮I ain’t even gay and I want that man whispering I’m my ear as he cuddles me to sleep god damn😂
21:52 to 22:12 On one hand this is beautiful (mostly because of the animation) but on the other this is haunting. Because this man sees a world on fire and loves the sight of people burning 😳. Garfield Lynns is messed up. I mean who isn’t in Gotham right?
Guys, what are the things on top of everything that I am enjoying about this show Is when they’re giving the voice cast at the end, they credit the creators of specific characters in the show
scene of bruce in alfred room you can tell alfred if afraid for bruce and what he may do. even now alfred follows along bruce to be honest crazed antics mainly to make sure he is safe and doesnt go full insane.
I don't think i'll ever have access to watching this in full (i don't want Prime ;-;) but it's been a joy watching this alongside you guys so far. Absolutely incredible series so far!
4 episodes in and man its good. Something to keep in mind is the fact that batman back in the 1930 was a lot darker and more somber than modern iterations of the dark knight; those flashbacks to the night thimas and martha died really touched on how traumatize bruce was after that night to the point ita alomst terrifying much like pattinsons depiction this bruce is alot more angry and emotionless their is no empathy for criminals nor the corrupt their is only the vengeful wrath of a boy whose world was shattered by some greedy punk with a gun. The fact that this version of bruce really is hesitant and even suspecious at the fact dr quinzel has the advantages is setting up that dynamic between the 2 rather that 2 extreme polar opposites to a true character divide into batman not just as the mask but the man who brings it to life and how his mental health perhaps is blindling him to the repercusions of his actions as batman in gotham. Selina as always is a riot and firebug talked about give a pyromaniac victor zazz vibes and of course jim corrigan and eel obrein debuting in the series; wonder if will get the spectre at some point if this show gets a season 2.
😊 Yep, I can definitely confirm for you guys in the opening title sequence. It’s basically a montage of different scenes throughout this season but the very last scene right before the title card of Batman Cape Crusader is a scene from the present episode.

Ooooooh. I think they might lean into possibly a relationship between Harley and Montoya. When Holly was in the precinct giving her speech, Montoya said that Barbara introduced them at the Christmas party and they kept in touch since then. 🥰
I love the restraint and how they kept the white out flash. It’s amazing how that censorship helped define Timm’s style and even without gratuitous violence, the impact is still there
12:10 some side note: it isnt kenny that voiced plastic man in jl action is dana snyder. the guy who also voiced master shake in aqua team hunger force. kenny only voiced plastic man in batman brave and the bold.
These episodes are a lot of fun. The voice acting is soo good, the cast is doing an amazing job. Also never thought we’d ever see Bruce in therapy. Lol.
You are a good man, an honorable man, but not necessarily a sane man. That was an Alfred line from one of the Batman novels, and they definitely show it in the Catwoman episode. That scene with Bruce as a child telling Alfred he was going to help him was chilling. Plus, am I the only one that is getting Hugo Strange vibes from Dr, Quinnzel?

This series kinda feels (visually) like a modernized version of Fleischer's Superman and the tone/story is like 30-40s radio-detective shows. This series is not very PG-13. It's VERY gruesome in it's details and it has a very big body count if you notice every char that gets killed. It's gruesome in a subtle way, which is VERY Batman. This series to me is not Batman, it's Detective Comics and I love it. I felt like the same way i felt when watching BTAS.
Hector update and I know you guys have seen the episode already, but I stand corrected. Apparently as the show progresses they are either adding or switching out scenes from each individual episode. OK bye

Hey Hector, I know you mentioned that you were curious if each episode had different scenes from the actual episode of self in the opening credits. It was a fascinating and modern take on their relationship.
