That's something to work on, with prayer and effort you won't be perfect but you can get better at it
This is funny but I find myself doing the same thing just over time. I’ll be talking to someone for a week or two and I start imagining things that won’t happen. When find myself doing this, I try to rebuke it and talk to myself and say to myself “girl stop it” or “girl chill out” and I bring myself back to reality. It usually works and then I realize how silly I was acting or how dramatic I may be feeling

That's very honest. And I honestly think a lot of people go through that. Jesus said something similar to that when he spoke about "cheating" on someone just by looking at another. Lust. These are the "small" things that if we bring to the Lord will help us in a greater relationship with him.

Sometimes I wish God would just send me the right person but I heard in a great talk that in order to meet a godly man, you have to be godly yourself now & I haven't been acting godly but I feel that God is shifting things and helping me.

Go with your gut in the beginning cuz a counterfeit is usually a wolf is sheeps clothing jezebel covert narc and they gain your trust by mirroring you so if you think they seem off in some way or immoral but then switch up and they seem good very quickly and seem to know you so well then love bombing you and then start saying that you were put together by God..they say your matched by God so you stop watching what they are doing and just commit..this was a useful lesson to me against covert narcs who pose as shy nice good Christian's but they are twisted empty soul hunters who bring diabolical pain and destruction even death.

We always talk about guarding our hearts. How about; how to know when to let your guard down?
So much this. I've guarded my heart so well that I'm still single. I see that the girls who put themselves out there and don't do all of this guarding business are now married.
I'm not yet married and I still want to, but that doesn't make me regret letting go of the guys I met before. Some were immature (like me before), some were godly but moving in a different path or calling from me.
It's more important to know God and follow Him, and then be with the person who is moving in the same direction as I am.

It's very difficult to find women for a relationship, every woman in my church and churches related to my church are either in a growing relationship or married.
Every other woman/girl is too young for me, and for those only a few years younger than me (I'm 22 btw) I can see they're extremely, spiritually immature, and i could tell how paper thin the reason behind their faith is.
If their faith was to even be tested in a week at a college, they'd turn their back on God.
And I'm definitely not going to meet a person at work.
I made it a point to never want to be in a relationship with someone who is in a university or working towards a higher education, mainly because they treat a relationship like something they can do later.
They have to convince themselves that, "first I'll work on my education then get a job that matches the education, and then somehow have the time to work on a relationship and have a family." That takes the number 1 spot for delusional in the book of reality.
I mean, getting to know a person's likes and dislikes, learning to love that person, spending time with them, and giving them your full attention. Isn't growing a relationship with another person more important than having the wisdom of fools?
If I want to love a woman, i.e. work on a relationship with one, I will twist my work schedule like a pretzel to spend time with her and get to know all about her.

Yes. The church treats iis singles like an extra appendage they don't know what to do with so they act like we don't exist. But the problem is the singles start living like the world.
I'm with you on that! My pastor talks about finding a companion when it comes to the single youth and giving guidance and advice on how to go about dating and what to look for but they don't give us advice as what is being given in this video.

Im glad that the discussion of Christian dating and courtship has come up in the culture of 'hooking up'. Developing a relationship based on mutual respect, care, admiration, interests, goals, pursuits, purpose, career aspirations, shared experiences etc is very different than having an idealized view of what a relationship will be based on a perception. Who wants to be in a relationship based on an obsession only to have the reality deflate that idealized view of someone? Idolizing a person is in no way shape or form the reality of what it would be
This is one of the best videos I've seen on when you have a crush! it makes totally sense. Don't have too high expectations but be open. I think the problem often is people beating them selves up for their feelings and them drawing back completely, that way you will never learn get to know somebody. We can't find somebody unless we learn get to know them on a friendly level. It's a different thing if God has told you not to date or that you're not ready yet, but if you have peace about finding somebody and if God has put that peace inside your heart and spirit you should be able to learn get to know someone that you're interested in, and if that person doesn't seem to be a good match for you anyways you don't have to settle for that relationship, instead have hope that there's someone better for you, but don't be afraid of learning get to know people. I often find out that the less I know a person the easier it is to get stuck in all kinds of expectations and fantasies, and that's what will leave us heartbroken when it doesn't end the way we planned

I started having feelings for this guy and now it completely turned into obsession. I never acted on it, but I did give a lot to him. It was my biggest mistake. I’m still single but I’ve completely understood how important it is to wait and to pursue God relentlessly first rather than being on the search of a wife. I know God is faithful and know that everything will work out in the end.
Trust me, there are. My dream is going to North Korea someday for missions (South Korean - American, born in USA). I wait (currently 24) to seek a godly woman who has the same fire and passion for God, willing to put it all on the line. Your new book sounds good. However, I do not think it is in God's will for everyone to be married. Some are called to singleness. So I think it is important as singles, not to get too caught up in assuming that we are all meant to be married and that our spouse just hasn't shown up yet. I think that instead of praying "God show me who my spouse is, send them my way" I think we should pray "God reveal your will for my life, singleness or marriage, and help my heart to align with what you want"

The boys are grown into young men now, my youngest daughter a senior in high school. my children are very well read and well spoken young christian people. I have been alone for eight yrs. No lovers, no significant others in my life. Not being one for casual sex, its pretty hard to develop a relationship when you have OTHER responsibilities. So life goes on. some day God may choose a fine christian woman for me to be with.

I'm going through the same thing. And I'm totally guilty with what Mark said about being infatuated. I just basically stalked this person and learned how incredible he is! I don't want to say that I am infatuated. I want to think of it as a harmless admiration after I telling myself I will not go any deeper than all the stalking that I did.

I love Jesus more than I love any guy!!!! Like it's jacked up to assume from the little things. We're supposed to love each other and put life into each other. Encourage each other. Like my gosh this TH-cam channel annoys me a bit. Like if I like you, I will say I like you. Because when I like someone I'm not afraid at ALL to tell him. That or I'd play house with him. Only him. I've learned to ask God to show me who the person is immediately and he has saved me from alot drama and pain.
I was with my ex girlfriend for almost 7 months recently. At the beginning of our relationship, I was trying not to get attached to her and was trying to keep my independence. Later, I started getting really comfortable with her and loved her a lot. We had hopes of getting married and starting a family one day. She was the best friend I ever had and now she’s gone. Everything felt so right with her. Now everything feels so pointless and hopeless.

I actually had a huge crush on this guy I used to work with at my second job but he doesn’t go church anymore but he told me his “ Christian by faith “ and I always go for looks which I have to stop! I kept telling myself guard my heart because I didn’t really know him well but because he was handsome and well..
This is great advice, as I get waaaay to carryied away but the idea of a relationship with someone I forget to actually focus on who they are and whether we actually work together well!

Just when i felt so down and cried over all the conflicting feelings, your shorts appeared on TH-cam right when i opened the app. When i stayed watching them one after another I just kept crying. I knew God was speaking to me through you. God was giving me advice and guidance because I felt so lost and scared. God knows what we need and sends help and deliverance at the right time. I’m so glad I ran into this video For the longest time I felt that this one person was gonna be my husband literally from God. And that’s when I realize you should always doubt your doubts because after literally almost 2 years he never pursued me and he got a girlfriend 💔. It was heartbreaking but I’m healed now thank you Jesus for breaking the spirit of deception and I know God has my husband out there somewhere 😌.

Hi Pastor Mark, I just want to thank you for all the Godly wisdom I've received from your vids the last 3 yrs. I have learned tons, mostly that I've used dating as an idol and God has completely shut the door for me so my relationship with Christ can grow. Thank you so much for this wisdom. Being a college student in her early twenties, I never really knew how to date, I thought just going off of how I feel was enough. But the more I mature in God, the more he reveals to me the work that is needed to go into my approach to healthy dating. Instead of constantly putting myself in a fantasy of a relationship, overextending, not creating healthy boundaries - then getting my entire world shattered once I realize that that approach was not the one God intended me to follow, I am going to first pray to the Lord for forgiveness then forgive myself for what I didnt know then apply these helpful and logical tips into my dating life so that I can protect myself and honor God at the same time.

Okay, I'm a victim of such high expectations, trust me guys I'm still recovering from it. It almost took my life (I literally took ill) to make matters worst this guy is a relationship, and I was aware. I wonder why my heart ignored that. Everything around me really wanted to be with this guy. Thank God for stepping in and making me regain consciousness before it was too late..... I wish I watched this video earlier. Well, I have learnt from my experience. #it was a tragic experience!#
