As a goat owner I think this was one of my favorite videos you've done 😊. Mine maintain the undergrowth in my woods, give me manure, milk, and lots of personality.
Love to see folks using good practices that help the earth, plus you get personality and 24/7 coverage. I lived in a rural area for about 12 years, and you'd see flocks of goats clearing the foliage from the levee roads (too steep to mow, and the process was cool as the humans would just move the fencing further along the road mile by mile.) I liked to see them along the river roads!
(They're more excited-er.) Point of fact: goats prefer browse (shrubs and trees). Sheep prefer forbs (weeds). Cattle prefer grasses. Each will eat browse, forbs and grasses, but they are all specialists, and best chosen for the circumstances...
i like the "Well, we moved in a few years ago and you used to be able to go up there and enjoy the property", but we decided to do literally 0 yard work, so this is what we have!
I’ve seen this done before. An excellent win-win for everyone including the goats. They get a variety of vistas, foods, are well treated. The customer gets a quiet, friendly, environmentally beneficial solution to their problem, the neighbors get a pleasant neighbor for a week or so, and the property is improved with zero environmental damage or concerns. Lastly, the goats’ owner gets paid for letting his herd eat for free.
As a kid growing up on a farm we had 40 goats and we'd take the smaller ones out to the newer neighborhoods and have them eat the grass. It was a good way for us kids to get weekend movie money. Made $1.25 per yard yes it was back in the early 1960's. Movie and snacks cost less than a dollar. I used most of mine going into the city at Radioshack on parts.
I saw a documentary about using goats for property management a few years ago. As a goat lover I thoroughly approve and think it’s high time they are appreciated for more than meat and 4-H projects! 😉👌👍💕💕💕
Not if he stays on a schedule of trimming and pruning. That’s 10 years of not doing much and a one week stay by the goats won’t cause things to grow out of control after they leave. But it also won’t eliminate all the work needed to make the property attractive again.
Because the "canopy" is opened up, more desirable plants will have a change to regrow/get a boost. Fighting certain undesirables can be an uphill battle and these goats have done a considerable amount to make it easier to deal with. Himalayan blackberries are a bugger with their hooked thorns, so the goats taking taking them down some will help, but they pop back fast...
Hey everyone, Let’s make fun of @markpreston6676. He thinks he’s cool or something because he commented first. Let’s remind him how he is embarrassing himself and he won’t get a trophy to show his parents the only achievement he’s has done in his whole life.
i wanted to see the after
💩💩💩💩
I love goat's❤❤ And you❤

Missed opportunity to show the results of the goats hard work! 🐐
I imagine the cost of leaving the crew in SF an additional two weeks would have cost twelve million dollars.
@@andrewnotarian12 this is PBS, not CNN...

This is wonderful and I think goats are some of the coolest animals around!

Maybe he's allergic to Yard Work 🤷♂️
My thinking exactly. He acts like some sort of victim
Sometimes people get too busy with work and don’t have time. Don’t be too judgmental of total strangers circumstances.
@@rickwallace2091maybe he's taking care of his wife with terminal cancer. You have no idea what you're talking about.
@@kent223 and you obviously have no idea as well. Terminal cancel, throw some rationality into to statement. Honestly what are the chances of that.

I have two pygmy goats getting the job done. Great video and exactly why I got them. Low cost low maintenance, and just hilarious to watch
Always amazed watching goats use mature Oregon blackberry vines (natures razor wire) as dental floss….
Love the video! 😍🥰🐐
Where's the end result?
Great video.
This Old House is the GOAT.
Best video of the day!!

Genevieve & friends seems so lovely and positive.
The cool thing is that after the goats finish pooping everywhere nobody will even notice because it's San FranShitsCo 🤷♂️
Grew up on a farm, knew this about goats over 50 years ago! They will keep a fence line clean...
Goats and sheep are very useful in the same way at solar farms.
A great idea, i wish we had that in England.
This is such a CA thing
Liberals destroy things …. 😮
Are they where we get the term brush hogs?
While Richard is in San Francisco, he should go down to the harbor and find some nice tight seals he's always talking about
Lovely😀
ok

Calls this old house...
Plants! They're growing!
Have fun cleaning up all the pebbles poop.
Very Very good for the soil and much like rabbit droppings, small pebbles and not acidic.
Who gets all the goat manure?
Now we're up to three people covering Roger's old job? sheesh
We often loan out a couple goats to fellow beekeepers riding their backyards of poison ivy.
Wild fires or DEW, you decide!
Gavin newsome working hard🤣🤣
Yeah we have to bring politics into every single thing. Well done
@@kent223 well he did cut forestry services to cut back on the wild fires in Cali.
Cool to see Kanye on this old house
Yeah, but all their poo is just gonna make it grow much faster
