We love our dairy goats. They have been an invaluable tool for rearing our children with our desired values. Let's all strive to be producers not just consumers!
I got to go see this place last April, and it was amazing how much Ali puts on a small space and is so tidy. Every where you look there is something different that has an artistic touch. Ali and her family is delightful, knowledgeable and so friendly. If you ever have a chance, you should visit. Ali told me April and May are the best months. Thank you!
This was really enjoyable! I’m reading Proverbs for my daily Bible reading right now, that’s a great verse! I love how you have the keeping of milk goats down to a system! I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself, when I thought about what the neighbourhood thinks when your family takes the goats for a walk😊.
I think they are used to it!🤣 it’s the people that stay in the nightly rentals that give a second look then start to record it. The funniest was when we were asked what type of dogs are those😂😂
I’ve been waiting for this one! Thanks, Ali!I do have more questions: How did you choose which breed? How did you know they which does you wanted? Are your goats registered? Do you think that’s a benefit? Since you don’t have a buck, how do you get your does bred? How do you do go about selling the kids- FB marketplace or word of mouth or…? What if you can’t sell them? Sorry for all the questions. I’d love to get goats in the next couple years and don’t hear people talk about some of these things. Thanks!
We love our dairy goats also! Our saanen produces 3/4 gallon per day, it's quite remarkable. We love making chevre, kefir and mozzarella! Oh and goat ice cream in the electric ice cream maker we found at the thrift store ;) So fun!
I also have been raising dairy goats for 35 years Alpine dairy goats is what we raise. I also subscribed to your channel. We are from Michigan. Thank you for sharing, till next time God Bless.
Sounds like we are in good company! Dairy goats! When I first got married I never imagined I would own goats. I can’t imagine not having them in our lives now. God Bless! 🥰☺️
Hummm… I haven’t but that is something to think about! I love my goats too! They are my favorite thing about early mornings when I’m out there with them when all is quiet. 🥰
We primarily raise lamanchas but have some nigerian dwarves as well. We love our does and bucks. :) this was great to see how you’re able to raise them on such foot print. It really will help people who want to get a few and maximize their space. ❤
Ali you and your family are a true inspiration to me. Keep doing what you are doing Proverbs27:27, you are making a difference and one day, I pray to have faith to quit my full time job and Focus fully on Spreading God’s word, raising my family and homesteading. Thank you for showing us that it can be done! Be blessed💚
This was great! I’ve been trying to figure out if I want dairy goats or dairy sheep. This content was a helpful overview. I’m considering mini Nubians (?) or a hair sheep like the st lacroix. Your goats are beautiful and so well kept!
I am starting a small homestead in town, I already have chickens and a garden and soon will have goats after I purchase the property next to me. Thank you for all this wonderful information. I read Proverbs 27:27, WOW even after reading the bible several times this is nice to see. Thank you...
Oh my gosh! You’ll love having goats! What breed are you going to be getting? You sound like you are starting out just like we did! Thank you and thanks for sharing. I love hearing this 🥰
Looked up that Scripture. It is precisely the Scripture that occurred to me while watching. Thank you and bless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
We raised Nubians when I was young. My daughter and I want to raise them together. We bought a homestead 3 years ago and are just about ready to start looking for Nubians.
I didn’t realize how much you can do on 1/2 an acre…I have ten and was worried I wouldn’t have enough room for everything I wanted to do. It’s really my parents land but I’ll be inheriting it, and I’ve only been on the front half (I was never the adventurer when I was young) the rest is forest 😭but my dad already has goats, chickens, ducks, and ponies. I just been wanting to add a garden and a few more farm animals, and I love your videos so much!!
Wow Ali, you answered a lot for me as I’ve been wanting to get 2 dairy goats. I would be like you where there wouldn’t be a lot of pasture to graze on and now that I see you can do it then I should be able to do it too😄. But one of the biggest questions I have for you is deworming. What’s your advice on that considering they don’t graze out on pasture and are in more of a confined space, thus leading more to susceptibility of worms??🤔🤔🤔
I clean their pin daily and feed an herbal wormer about every 6 weeks I believe that where we are at, very hot and low humidity, worms are less of a problem than areas that are humid. Under a microscope they are doing well. That’s a WHOLE other video!
@@Alisorganics OMG cannot wait for your deworming video, that’s where we’re just hanging in should we or should we not with the goats, and sheep also would be great lol, but we have 5 mini horses grazing on 2 of the acres and gardens on the one acre. I loveeeee your setup @ your property, absolutely inspires me!! Thanks for all your advice and real quick what herbal dewormer do you use??🤔
I get it from these folks. hoeggerfarmyard.com/xcart/herbal-supplements/herbal-wormer-1 Sometimes they are slow to get it sent out. Used to be such an awesome company. Went through growing pains. But it’s good. I do make it time to time. it’s nice to have plenty on hand.
🥰 Goats are the best! I have really enjoyed them over the years. I had a neighbor in his 90’s and he absolutely loved sitting on his back porch and watch our goats for hours.
A smaller breed like Nigerian Dwarf work out well for smaller spaces. I do have Nubians and they need more exercise than the dry lot so we walk them and let them run in our orchard with supervision because they can cause problems like eat my grapes, berries and smaller new trees. I’ll be putting out a video this next week more in depth on raising goats for small homesteading 😃
So happy to have found your channel! I have 3 Nubian girls and hope to breed them. I don’t have room for a buck either but what are the alternatives? I’ve done so much research and can’t find anyone that does AI near me or anyone who has a buck for stud. Any suggestions?
Just stumbled onto your channel, and I love it. I see you have large and small breeds of goats together. I am new to keeping goats. I just recently was gifted 2 larger breed goats but I would love to have some dwarf babies to go in with them. Is that a good idea?
I’ve always had Nubians and large ones at that. Last summer I acquired 2 angora goats that are smaller. My oldest, biggest girl was mean to them. It took about two weeks for her to get used to them. I had to really keep an eye out during the day and wouldn’t let them stay in The same pin at night till they got bigger. Now they hold their own and all get along. It was worrisome at first. And I’m a worry wart. 🤣. I know several people that keep all types of breeds together and they all say, if they were not raised together they act up till they get used to each other. When we have babies, everyone is fine together. I LOVE my goats!!!
how do you keep yours goats parasite loads down and are Nubians a good choice for a really small family as well as how you keep the milk from tasting goaty?
I love my Nubians! They do produce a lot of milk. My two girls give me 2.5 gallons a day. I know several people that have smaller breeds for less milk, like Nigerians. I use an herbal dewormer in a regular basis ti keep them healthy. In about a month I will do a complete goat care video and I’ll be sure to include those topics! Thank you!
Is there a specific grain that you use for your nursing goats? I’ll be getting goats for the first time this spring and there’s so many different options to give your nursing goats it hard to figure out what’s best.
I am using Modesto Millings with added sunflower seed, barley, a little flax seed. Years ago I used purina goat chow, but I feel the quality went down and more than that I wanted organic.
We are doing as much as we can and the best we can. We are not 100% self sufficient. We have to rely on other sources for the animals and some of our needs. However we are 80% FOOD self sufficient (my husband and I). In today’s day we have to rely on others. Thanks 🙏🏼
You don't have neighbors complaining about the gates noises or you don't have neighbors complaining about the goat noises or the goat doo doo on the roads boy my neighbors have a fit just the way I am with my what I've got because I refused their cats coming in and killing six of my chickens making one of my ducks legs crooked getting in and making my greenhouse smell like urine and destroying the rest of my yard and then when their cats go bye-bye they don't like it so how do you get by with all this
No. The goats are generally pretty quiet. Dogs in the neighborhood are louder than the goats. The only time the goats are loud is when we first have babies in the spring. And that is only at feeding time for a few moments. And thankfully we are still kinda country and have good neighbors 😁

It was that verse in Proverbs that convinced me to keep my goats when I thought of selling them. 💕
🐐🥛 Proverbs 27:27 says, "And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens".
This was really enjoyable! I’m reading Proverbs for my daily Bible reading right now, that’s a great verse! I love how you have the keeping of milk goats down to a system! I have found your channel to be the best channel for our little 3.25 acres. You have def inspired me!!😍
Oooo! 3.25 acres! Could do so much with it! 😉 I would own sheep if I had more ground.
Love your goats. They are precious. Amazing what you guys have done on a half acre.
thank you for this video. God bless you too!

I want to go into goats at a deeper level, and will over the next few months and all those questions…will be answered! Thank you!
I love them! The hardest thing about having baby goats, I want to keep them all! 🥰. Goats, chickens, plants, wool are a pure addiction for me. 😂
Truly a beautiful place you have made for yourself and your family. Thank you for sharing all of the great info. God bless! ❤
What a wonderful homestead!! It's adorable to watch kids play with goats and have great time.
Kiddos just love the baby goats! It’s worth having them just for that alone. 😊
Love your homestead! Thanks for the verse perfect addition ❤

You have dairy goats too? Oh! I Love them so much! I have a cream separator and so we do our ice cream with their cream too! So much enjoyment!

Not yet. I plan on doing one once the outside work slows up. I’ll be doing a full overlay of our place later this fall
