Hey Jeff, I have been watching you for years and have really learned a lot. I appreciate the fact that you don't cut out the unexpected issues and you are not afraid to show the shortcuts that work.
I really appreciate you man. Thank you so much for showing us the whole entire process with no cuts in the video. Really shows the process realistically
Jeff is simply the best instructor. Tells you all the nitty gritty details that will aid you in these steps. Doing a tile project similar to this. Thanks a lot! Came in clutch!
Really good tutorials, Jeff. Been watching you for a few years now, and learn something every time. You work hard to do the best job, which is much appreciated. Good humor!
Tip if it is your first time laying tile or anything you need your cuts to be perfect so you don’t ruin your product get pieces of cardboard cut it to your tile like example Jeff’s using 24x24in tile cut a piece at that and use that for your cuts mak sure everything fits the way you want it then just repeat on the tile cuz it’ll get expensive if ya have to toss them out
your videos are gold, I have had the confidence to do projects and do them right thanks to your expertise. It's not hard to make something look good, it's harder to make it look good and LAST.
Your expertise and guidance have truly empowered me to tackle my own home renovation projects and even venture into my first investment property. Your passion and knowledge shine through in every video, and I'm grateful for the confidence you've instilled in me to take on these projects. Thank you for being such an inspiring mentor! It's been a while since I've commented. ❤
thanks Jeff! Those tiles look like Sovereign Stone from Lowes... I used 8x24 like those in my entry way and laundry room. I get a lot of compliments. Yours are turning out fantastic!!!
I did this for my bathroom and used their great products for the shower years ago before it was even popular, just like the tile spacers I ordered from Italy and two years latter they come here. Education is important 💁♀️
Using all-set always read instructions on back. You have to mix at 200-300 rpm for 5 minutes, let slack for 10 minutes then mix for 3 minutes. This will give you an hour or so working time with the thinset. If it gets stiff, you can re mix it but do not add additional water.
Thank you we have a deal with our landlord since he's old to help him fix up the place we are staying at he buys the martingale and we fix it up I grew up fixing stuff with my dad but never done tile before This is so informative thank you so much never thought I could use my grinder to cut tile
A thousand blessings on you for sharing like you do. What about large format tile over a cement slab that is covered tightly with industrial type linoleum squares from the 70's? Thank you
An excellent tip provided by 7.7.0bassin2 - (just slightly tweaked) Be aware, if this is your first time laying tile you need your cuts to be perfect, if not you can ruin your project. TIP: Get pieces of cardboard cut them to match the size of the tile you are installing. (example in this video Jeff’s are 24x24) - Then, when you need to cut a tile to make it fit, first cut one of the pieces of cardboard instead of cutting a tile just to sure everything fits the way you want it... then... Repeat the cut on your tile. - Doing it this way saves you from cutting a tile incorrectly which can get expensive if you have to toss them out.
This is great information, but I’m stuck at the cleanup part of my project. My old kitchen floor appears to be directly attached to the slab of the house. Thank you 70s construction. How would you go about cleaning up the floor and prepping for new tile?
I did my first tile job in our bathroom and used the same spacer wedge system , worked really well. Always wanted to try laying tile , the wet saw worked really great . I did learn , don’t mix the whole bag of grout , by the time I was almost to the end it was starting to dry up. Thanks for tips
Your videos and knowledge are a huge help for DIYers, thank you. But how can you mix a new batch of thin set in a bucket crusted with old thin set that's just going to crumble off into that nice new mixture? Will those chunks dissolve in the fresh mix or will you now have dry chunks in it?
I installed a mansfeild walkin shower and used your sand mix tecnique! Turned out great! Thanks! After watching this video , I am thinking about making a 24×24 tile to step out of the shower on instead of V plank flooring. I want it slightly higher than the floor , I was thinking of removing 1/8 inch larger than the tile so there would not be a full lip and tile would not just be sitting on top of flooring ! Would It be better if I siliconed the gap like you did with your entry way into the bathroom. Or if I just put the 24 inch tile in like you demonstrated so well? My concern is making sure water can not get in flooring in the 1/8inch gap?
I'm trying to square up what you said/did early in the video vs what you said late. is the thin set waterproof or not? If so, you trapped water under the tile when you took off the valve and let it run before setting your first tile; and won't that become a problem (idk, mold? poor adhesion?).If it isn't waterproof, won't water just wick through it to the flooring beyond the quartz sill?
I have a bathroom remodel that is on the opposite side of the house from the septic line. It doesnt have enough fall and my only option is to install a sewage ejector pump however there is no basement so it would be installed in the crawlspace. Ive looked everywhere and havent come across this setup. Any pointers or tips woupd be much appreciated!!
When you say uncoupling system, does that mean the rubber/plastic membrane will flex with the floor to help prevent tile movement? I'm seriously interested in using that, that would solve so many transition issues.
With that style of large format tiles, if you want to do an offset layout, what's the maximum amount of offset you can do? I know the larger the tiles, it gets iffy with offset due to warping.
@Home Renovision DIY Whoa, whoa, whoa. I remember hearing that tiles this big can't be installed into older homes. Am I remembering this incorrectly? I think I heard it on this channel. I have a house that was built in 1968. I can visually see cracks form every spring as the house "breaths" and adjusts to the new climate. Built on clay. Can I install 24x24 tiles?
What thinset did you use? Is it the same schluter all set you used for the schluter ditra video? At what size tile do you recommend using the spacers that level out? My tile is 8x10 inch. What grout did you then use? Did you have to seal the grout afterward? I've watched this at least 5 times, writing down everything and getting up the courage to tile my own bathroom! Thanks!!!
The stone thresholds usually need to be sealed right? At least that is what mine says. Instructions say seal before cutting and install, and seal again after. Is that altogether necessary? We have had quite a bit of extra expenses, large tools, that we were not expecting and my husband is not happy we might need to purchase something else to finish this renovation. But we do want it done right… can we do without or is that stupid?
TIP: if you have to cut outside in cold climates use diluted antifreeze instead of water. Check the box for the wet saw splash guard, they should always come with one for safety.
I know you're doing tile, but the wood in my bathroom door way is damaged, can that be replaced without having to replace the entire frame? I learned so much from your tutorials, even if I decide to pay a professional, I know what to look for or even which questions to ask, to help me determine if they are a fit. TY so much for your tutorials.
Hi Jeff. I need to replace my tiles as they are chipped and were installed unevenly before I bought my house. My home is in an extremely humid tropical climate. Are tiles my only option for flooring? Would appreciate your advice. 😊
Can you do a video of how you made the lightbar out of the soffit/bulkheads, thats a first time i seen that, great utilization of unused space. Outta 5 ill give you a 4.95 for that, great work.
Do you know where I can get a good knot puller? I sent my ex-wife to the hardware store for one, and she came back with a chain attached to a nut. I tried it, but it didn't work very well, thanks
I thought WE would be cutting circles in our tiles for those pipes under the vanity! 😳😮😮😮😮 - I’m concerned about my personality type, I won’t sleep well 😂😂😂😂
You didn't tighten the arbor nut on the saw before you plugged it in or use it?! Jesus man...lol. Glad you corrected that later, you had me worried! Also, why did you thinset over one area of the Ditra and allowed it to dry (3rd tile area)? That ruins the whole point of the Ditra as those key holes are already dried & not bonding to the tile to allow for movement.
Lol
I love that you show everything from start to finish, even the electrical tape bandaid.
Best tiling video on all of youtube!!!
Thank you Jeff!
Hello, thank you so much for this video! I laid my bathroom tile like a pro. Thank you thank you thank you! Now I am off to do my backsplash 🙌
I appreciate the learning experience and humor you made in this video. This was very helpful, thank you.

I’ve been watching since “baby Wolkon does his first bathroom” and thank you! More longer videos please!
Thank you for sharing your professionalism and good sense of humor. I like the way you laugh. It makes life easier.

Excellent idea

Jeff, when you lay the strip at 46:40 in your video-- why did you not use your spacer/leveling system? Thanks!!!!
He’s been doing it long enough and can tell it’s flat so no need. He used a straight edge to make sure it was flat.
I appreciate you man. Thanks for your lessons. You show everithing even the mistakes and that's good education. Thanks! Love your channel.
Your expertise and guidance have truly empowered me to tackle my own home renovation projects and even venture into my first investment property. Always a great watch
I've tiled for years - but still enjoy watching and picking up the odd trick.
Thanks
Saving this video, learned a lot from Jeff, appreciate all the small details. God bless.
That is friggin awesome!
I appreciate learning this trade. I'm a 60 Y. O. Interior Designer.
Knowledge is Wisdom!!🎉
Good video Jeff. They're always very informative and you give me a chuckle or two. Cheers

shivering black bell thumbs up and heart! Always go to listen to you Jeff.
You're a great teacher Thanks
Hi Jeff. Excellent video. Great tips and ideas to think about when tiling. 👍. Looks amazing. Beautiful job.👌. Cheers for sharing. Take care. 👍
Great video Jeff. Thanks for the tiling information. 🇨🇦💝👍
Using all-set always read instructions on back. You have to mix at 200-300 rpm for 5 minutes, let slack for 10 minutes then mix for 3 minutes. This will give you an hour or so working time with the thinset. If it gets stiff, you can re mix it but do not add additional water.
One stop educational guide! I’m attempting a 60cm by 60cm wall and floor tile job. ❤ new subscriber!
Happy to see you wear a respirator❤
Fake news
Somethings gotta kill you.
Jesus I thought he was going to do the whole tile cut without wetting it and without respirator, he really wants scilicosis huh
Thank you we have a deal with our landlord since he's old to help him fix up the place we are staying at he buys the martingale and we fix it up I grew up fixing stuff with my dad but never done tile before
This is so informative thank you so much never thought I could use my grinder to cut tile
Watching here from Europe, cm and mm makes life so much easier 😂
Thanks for all the good advice! Love your channel.
i love that ray charles glasses
A thousand blessings on you for sharing like you do. What about large format tile over a cement slab that is covered tightly with industrial type linoleum squares from the 70's? Thank you
Ardex P4, one easy coat, and tile as normal... Brilliant stuff!

I wish i had this video years ago for my large format tile install. trial by error was my teacher. haha
I use cold ice packs during drilling the tile, it worked for me.
What a professional.
This is great information, but I’m stuck at the cleanup part of my project. My old kitchen floor appears to be directly attached to the slab of the house. Thank you 70s construction. How would you go about cleaning up the floor and prepping for new tile?
These targeted adds are getting really, really good.
Isn't it a compass... a protractor is for measuring angles right?
Yeah but he's Canadian.
I did my first tile job in our bathroom and used the same spacer wedge system , worked really well. Always wanted to try laying tile , the wet saw worked really great . I did learn , don’t mix the whole bag of grout , by the time I was almost to the end it was starting to dry up.

1:01:14 "So don't make sure you dont miss that" XD
Can you tell me what you did for the bottom of the casing gap where it meets the tile? seems a bit big for silicon
Your videos and knowledge are a huge help for DIYers, thank you. But how can you mix a new batch of thin set in a bucket crusted with old thin set that's just going to crumble off into that nice new mixture? Will those chunks dissolve in the fresh mix or will you now have dry chunks in it?
Damn I’ve never wanted a bean cheese burrito more lol. These look awesome.
Good teacher step by step clearly explain
Thank you for this video. You are so helpful.

Great job. I am interested in one thing. Can I use 5x8cm slats for the walls? will the shed be strong enough?
I'm trying to square up what you said/did early in the video vs what you said late. is the thin set waterproof or not? If so, you trapped water under the tile when you took off the valve and let it run before setting your first tile; and won't that become a problem (idk, mold? poor adhesion?).If it isn't waterproof, won't water just wick through it to the flooring beyond the quartz sill?

Can someone point me to where Jeff tapes that oranges stuff etc? Or is there a play list I can't find?
When you say uncoupling system, does that mean the rubber/plastic membrane will flex with the floor to help prevent tile movement? I'm seriously interested in using that, that would solve so many transition issues.
I do that all the time, “Whoa…whoa…what am I doing”. But it’s usually AFTER I make the cut! 😂
With that style of large format tiles, if you want to do an offset layout, what's the maximum amount of offset you can do? I know the larger the tiles, it gets iffy with offset due to warping.
Can you add a link to the tool you are using to clip the tile leveling. The blue one.
@Home Renovision DIY Whoa, whoa, whoa. I remember hearing that tiles this big can't be installed into older homes. Am I remembering this incorrectly? I think I heard it on this channel. Pro tip: put a wet chunk of sponge inside the hole saw. Re wet as needed. Better cuts, saw lasts longer.
Thanks!!!
What are the alternatives to that orange underlayment. Every video I see uses it. What was used before it existed?
Wire mesh reinforced mortar bed. Cement board. Hardiboard. Tiling right over plywood. But not all of these are suitable for large format tile.
Great video❤
TIP: if you have to cut outside in cold climates use diluted antifreeze instead of water.
Check the box for the wet saw splash guard, they should always come with one for safety.
Hello! What glue do you use for the tiles?
hello jeff
nice job
In europe we normally dont have pipes coming up from the floor in shower areas due to the extra risk of water damage. Maybe its diffrent overthere
In foundation homes they come out the wall here as well. This is a mobile home.
I know you're doing tile, but the wood in my bathroom door way is damaged, can that be replaced without having to replace the entire frame? I learned so much from your tutorials, even if I decide to pay a professional, I know what to look for or even which questions to ask, to help me determine if they are a fit. is there Any reason why you did not back butter tile around the toilot flange?
This is gna b good
Hi Jeff. I need to replace my tiles as they are chipped and were installed unevenly before I bought my house. My home is in an extremely humid tropical climate. Are tiles my only option for flooring? Would appreciate your advice. 😊
Vinyl planks are your friend.
I’m curious. You are from Canada but working on a trailer in Florida. Are you renovating a vacation home for y’all or rental?
Iine upthe grout line with centre of door when open in small bathrooms. Don't have 2 inch wide pieces on wall if possibe
Trowel your thin set wipe the edge so it don’t squish out then put leveling clips in
Can you do a video of how you made the lightbar out of the soffit/bulkheads, thats a first time i seen that, great utilization of unused space. Outta 5 ill give you a 4.95 for that, great work.
Whats the name of this tile? I love the pattern so much.
Thanks compadre....
I have learned a lot from you..
Nice, looks great and makes sense. Cool seeing you being forced to use some cheap tools too.
Get the pro press so you can fix the plumbing
Wouldn't the square work faster/better/more accurately than making lines on the table? Just line up the numbers...
Hello! How can I get a job with you? I want to learn all this from you!
When you gonna upload videos on Reality Renovision channel?
32:52 I didn't know the sponge was supposed to be wet
Beauty work, eh!
Your Canadian Amazon link seems to be not working
Do you know where I can get a good knot puller? I sent my ex-wife to the hardware store for one, and she came back with a chain attached to a nut. I tried it, but it didn't work very well, thanks
Did i miss how you grouted between the tiles after you installed them?
LMAO "safety gear...where's that garbage?"
Just had some horror flash backs to the last time I tiled a bathroom lol!
Oh man you should cot that outside or near a window I learned that the hard way
I thought WE would be cutting circles in our tiles for those pipes under the vanity! 😳😮😮😮😮 - I’m concerned about my personality type, I won’t sleep well 😂😂😂😂
Did I miss it or was the toilet flange not waterproofed?
You didn't tighten the arbor nut on the saw before you plugged it in or use it?!
Jesus man...lol.
Glad you corrected that later, you had me worried!
Also, why did you thinset over one area of the Ditra and allowed it to dry (3rd tile area)?
That ruins the whole point of the Ditra as those key holes are already dried & not bonding to the tile to allow for movement.

Any advice for someone who bought a farm home and did a full gut only to find he was in over his head?
Hello Jeff please help out if you know some one doing bath reno convert buth tub to walking shower.

Good job sir I want ask you please
