    Keep in mind soup can be poured into a coffee thermos so you can still keep having lunch on a busy day without it looking like you’re eating your lunch through the working day/meetings.

      So you want her to drink soup without a spoon
      Damn

      Not if she is able to stop and eat, but on really busy days where it’s hard to stop its better to drink soup out of a coffee mug or coffee thermos rather than go without eating.

    You are so lucky that your company worries about overtime. One of the managers I work with is in a different time zone and he often schedules meetings by the end of HIS day, which is two hours into my evening after work. To be fair, sometimes he asks if that is ok and I’m too scared to tell him to leave me alone in the evenings lol

      I think if he asks that regularly then it is a concern to him, as he may think working in different time zones will affect the morale of his team which will cost his job.

    I really enjoyed watching this. I’m from America. I tried a career change to actuarial science a few years ago but never followed through. I passed our probability test but my job at the time offered me an opportunity That made me change my career direction.
    I notice you’re working in consulting. From what I heard that’s a lot more involved than working at an insurance company. Your work day really showed that.
    It’s interesting you didn’t study (or read) actuarial science at university but have a quantitative degree that will prepare you for the tests. I was in the same situation. People that major in Actuarial Science here actually have a few exams finished before they start working, I hear the same is true in the UK.
    I’m working from home here too. It’s funny how the same issues happen to everyone remoting to their work computer no matter which country you’re in. I had to have IT work on my software this week too, I had them take over my computer while I took a coffee break. I wasn’t as organized as you LOL. Best of luck in the future. I’ll be checking your videos out.

    You graduated at Cambridge in natural sciences. I assume Cambridge is one of the most important university in Europe, so why are you landing an insurance job? Maybe the skills you learnt with your studies can help the company, but it seems a waste of energy. Of course these times it's better to have a job.

    • @CamMci
      @CamMci 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. It’s a real shame. So many would give their life to study at such a place. The problem is, it’s an institution which is quite heavily exclusive to people of extreme privilege and wealth, many of whom actually have no interest in academia or the betterment of humanity, but are simply fast tracked to oxbridge via private education, and are then shoehorned into the money game after graduating, to fulfil the wealth expectations of a superficial ‘class’.

    • @mattewlefty991
      @mattewlefty991 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CamMci Well, I can give you the perspective of the high level education in Italy: my mathematics degree costs about 4000 € per year, including books. Because there aren't many graduates and the welfare covers most of the cost. But in doing this the Italian state invests on me, thinking that with that degree I can give some specific value to the society (but still I'm learning most of the market skills by myself, another problem). So if I take the course and forget about it for the rest of my working life the investment didn't pay off.
      Maybe the ones that are extremely conscious of the role the want to play in society can be more easily found in post-graduate programs or maybe we are biased because we see only a small percentage of Cambridge students.

    Hey can I have a quick question, please?
    Do you use math as an actuary?

    Do you think you prefer working from home over working in the office? I know you worked in the office in the internship so wondering what you prefer

      Definitely prefer working in the office. When working from home I spend all day staring at a screen, even when in meetings and virtual coffee breaks, and it is quite draining & isolating 😫 but grateful that I have a job and can work from home effectively in this scary time! Fingers crossed things improve soon

    Hi Paige and anyone who can answer my question. I want to do Computational and Applied Mathematics at university/college because I want to have a broad range of jobs or careers I can go to
    Currently I want to be an Actuary as well, so do you think Computational and Applied Mathematics is good
    I also want to know how difficult it was for you to get that graduate program since most Actuarial Analyst/Risk Analyst jobs strictly want an Actuarial Science degree

    Hey, your day looks pretty much the same as mine. Be safe and hope your future plans go as you expect.
    By the way, nice outfit!

    Can we get a job by only completing our under-graduation in actuarial or do we need to take all the exams of actuary to get our first job?
