My hubby just cooked this recipe and it was absolutely devine. I am not a huge fan of pork so for me to say I loved this, is a testament to how good it is. This will be a new staple in our household. Thank you.
I made something very similar just the other nite. I just kind'a pulled it out of the air and started cooking and adding stuff that came to my head. I simmered for even a little over an hour.I didn't use anise. I'm not sure I would care for that, but I may try it next time. I used brown sugar, and I only had dark soy sauce, and ised garlic and ginger like he did. I added some sweet chili sauce when I added the corn starch, and a dash of chili powder and a dash if smoked paprika. Turned out nice and sticky and very good flavor. For as flavorful as this is, it's really easy. I'd strongly recommend giving this a try.
Chili powder and smoked paprika is an interesting idea! Adding anise was a plus for me and I don’t even care for the anise scent by itself but this makes it taste like hoisin sauce in a way.
Yummy ❤

This looks great. I'm gonna try this tonight. However, it would be helpful if you broke it down by step-by-step in the notes. Thank you.
Fixed it for you. I also separated the list by 3 sections with cook time.
😊
I think you made a mistake because you listed four crushed garlic twice in the ingredients 😅
Oops, thanks for pointing that out!
