This Chinese BBQ chicken Char Siu recipe is so delicious and easy! I can eat this everyday!
Char Siu is a Chinese BBQ dish name and this chicken Char Siu is a spinoff of that same flavor. You're probably more familiar with the pork Char Siu as you can easily get this from Chinese restaurants. Japan also has their version that goes into ramen as a topping and it's called Chashu. This recipe follows the Chinese ingredients but the method will be very different. First, this uses chicken. Whole chicken leg quarters will be deboned for easy serving. Second, it will be pan fried (thanks to the deboned chicken) instead of oven baked. Of course, if you don't have the time or patience to debone chicken legs or thighs, just use this same recipe and bake it in the oven instead at 375F (1 hr for drumsticks, 50 mins for thighs) and broil it for 3 minutes at the end.
This chicken Char Siu is pretty easy to make and you will definitely enjoy this dish.
Marinade:
4 garlic cloves
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
3 tbsp light soy sauce
2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
1 tsp Chinese five spice
½ tsp sesame oil
4 chicken leg quarters
Cooking instructions: Marinate the chicken for 8-24 hours. Heat the frying pan in med-high heat and cook the chicken with the skin side down for 3 minutes. Flip them over and cook for 10 minutes in med-low to medium.
Bok Choy:
4-5 medium bok choy
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 tbsp vegetable oil
salt & pepper to taste

One Pot Chicken and Rice Recipe - Soy Sauce and Butter Rice Flavors
มุมมอง 1.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I believe it's common in East Asian countries where kids grew up eating soy sauce and butter melted in my bowl of hot steamed rice. Even adults still eat them I suppose. It's a simple and comforting meal especially if you don't have anything else to eat. My fond memories of butter and soy sauce on the rice inspired today's recipe. This is a popular and easy one-pot chicken and rice. There are s...
Hearty Creamy Oyster Stew Recipe Perfect for the Holiday Season
มุมมอง 35K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Creamy oyster stew is a Christmas tradition for many families. After wondering where it came from, it turned that this tradition came from Irish immigrants who used to eat soup or stew of fish on Christmas Eve as Catholic tradition banned meat on Christmas Eve. I have eaten many versions of oyster stew and many of them seem very simple with milk, butter, salt and pepper, which doesn't really ju...

Japanese chicken fried rice is a fusion fried rice with two western components: ketchup and butter. I grew up eating it in South Korea where the Japanese style western fusion dishes were everywhere at cafe and bistros. It was more of an everyday meal really. A lot of times, it's way too greasy or the flavor is just not there with things...

Delicious One-Pot Filipino Chicken Adobo Recipe You Must Try

Chicken adobo was one of my favorite cheap eats during college from a small Asian restaurant near my campus. The Filipino chicken dish came with a quartered leg cooked in sweet, sour, soy sauce over rice. It used to cost me $3.25. It was back in the early 2000's. Years later, when I learned the recipe, I realized how easy it was. I do cook chicken quite a bit on weeknights because they are easy...

Buldak is a chicken dish that existed long before Samyang came up with Buldak flavored ramen that everybody knows by now. You can reduce the oil and pepper flakes and salt by 1/4 from what I listed in the description section. One gallon = 16 cups. 32oz mason jar = 4 cups. As for the aromatics that go into the oil, I would reduce them generally by half because for some of them like cinnamon sticks, you won't get any flavor if you reduce too much. Hope this helps!
