It's really not hard. But make sure you have a 14mm hex socket for the bottom drain plug. They are somewhat hard to come by in most normal tool kits and could be pricey to buy separately. regardless 150 dollar is steep!
Hi, I just changed my rear diff fliud for the first time and I used Royal purple 75w90 thats what the manual recommended and I have a lsd that it says to use mopar additive but my question is the Royal purple gear oil says it has the friction moddifiter already should I be worried I didint add the mopar additive. So far I dont notice any difference from the factory oil. Thanks
The authorized dealer in the area where I live uses 75w90 and I have not had any problems, despite the owner’s manual registered as 75w140. Why is there this difference? Could it cause a problem in my next 2017 Ram approved by the dealer?

So no fill plug above that drain plug? Just the rubber plug?
Thanks for sharing! What about transmission filter/fluid? Have you changed that on your Ram 1500?
Shouldn't you use some thread sealant on the drain plug before putting it back in?
Could you do a video of red flags to look for when buying a second hand car/truck?
Great video!
Great video Alex! How often do you recomend changing the differential fluid?
How are ya now?
Thanks for the info, bud!
Thanks man cant get easier then that I was thinking I had to take all the bolts out to take the cover off. How much diff oil did you use
Do you need to change front fluid as well?
It's okay to use high temp rtv on the paper gasket?
Keep it up Alex, anybody named Alex must be awesome, you know why?
thank you! lol I have a sneaky suspicion as to why
Thanks for the video. It helped me. I must ask why do you call it a Dodge?? That name was dropped long ago. Its Ram from Ram truck division.
lol well I'm happy the video helped! and I guess I say dodge just out of habit.
I have a 2017 ram 1500 and it recommended 75W90 in my owners manual why is that?
I guess that's what the engineers determined to be best for the differential!
I would check the differential part number located on the hub and see what it takes just to be sure
Only the 3.92 and the Dana 3.92 rear diff requires 75-140. Other Ram diffs use 75-90

Is this the same procedure for a 2013?
Limited slip?
Is this a pen star 3.6?
Pentastar is what you mean.
@@forthefunofit5487 yeah well sometimes typing has flaws wtf !
I have the 5.7 Hemi in my truck. that being said if you do have the 3.6 the Diff should be the same
@@GettysGarage thx
Did you say strap-on ratchet?
probably something I would say yes lol
